Welcome to an adorable ground floor studio apartment, located in an 1860s building at the very top of the Hill and the center of downtown Boston. This true to name, Boston pied à Terre is eco-friendly and luxurious and simultaneously shows off its historical origins with exposed beams and re-claimed architectural elements. The studio has very easy access to the street and adjacent patio. The owner’s mission is to live with a small footprint but without compromise.
Location: Just 2 minute walk to the Mass. State House and Freedom Trail and an urban Whole Foods grocer; 8 minutes to three subway "T" lines, the Boston Common and Charles Streets boutique shops and fine dining. 15 minute walk you will reach Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street, the North End, Theatre District and TD Garden.
Basics: The kitchen is very well appointed with beautiful slate counters, polished nickel fixtures, deep sink w/disposal, Miele dishwasher, gas range/oven and full-sized refrigerator. The bed is a Beauty-Rest plush-firm queen with down pillows and sateen sheets. The bathroom has full-sized tub and shower with polished nickel fixtures and original cross-hatch beams overhead. Washer/dryer is in the hall around the corner. Place to keep bike.
Eco-Green: Aside from a great example of small-space design in a location that promotes walking and public transportation; bed linens are eco-certified and cleaning agents, paper supplies and soaps/shampoos are earth-friendly whenever possible. We recycle. Cloth shopping totes are hanging in the closet and the electricity is from wind.
Essentials: No smoking, no pets, no parking (ask), sleeps 2. Includes all utilities and furnishings, ground floor 20 steps from street, direct access patio. The owner has written a very detailed manual for the apartment and for all services and restaurants in the neighborhood.
We also have other studio units in the neighborhood with different profiles, so just ask.

What a fantastic pad! Everything here is so well thought out and designed that its been a perfect home away from home during my stay here in Boston. Had some great breakfasts at WholeFoods and Ma Soba is a definite for those tasty take outs! Thank you for providing such a welcoming place to stay and such a helpful book of helpful tips. Til next time!

Loved the “look” on the internet but the reality blew us both away! We have both had a wonderful stay here (but who wouldn’t) It is a class above, with it’s design, details and little touches, making it a very special place to stay. Feel very lucky to have found this place… why did we only book for 3 nights stay? Nevermind, I’m certain we’ll be back! Many many thanks. [additional emailed review] The property was truly excellent and what impressed us was the fact that the owner had left an absolutely brilliant inventory. We did try some of the restaurants and they were exactly as he described. The information provided by Paul made such a difference to our stay. The flat itself was a dream /stylish and comfortable. We are planning to come back next year for longer so we can go to all the places we did not have time to explore. We loved beacon hill and felt so at home there...it was very special holiday.

I’m in Boston on a business trip – great place to stay! Much better than a hotel! Love the location – Thank you for all the details in your great information booklet – very helpful. I was a little concerned that there would be no one to ask about things I would need, but you really covered everything in that booklet. Loved the kitchen, was so well stocked. The high speed internet. Tv- Yeah! Very comfortable place – you did a great job with the appointments. Thank you!

This place is a fantastic example of the power of thoughtful design! Surprising the visitor at every turn. The bed seems daunting at first – but turns out to be a fun adventure, and the details enable the visitor to feel completely at home or be moved to images of another time. The photos don’t do it justice! Thank you for sharing it with me.

We have enjoyed our brief stay – this is such a charming neighborhood close to public transportation and surrounded by so many historic landmarks. The owners have thought of everything for our comfort including all the necessities and many extras we had no idea would be at our disposal. For a small space, they have done wonders. We hope everyone has as much fun staying here as we did.
