Cottage 2 is a beautiful, cozy cottage which looks out onto a beautiful lake. The architecture gives the feeling of a warm country home and the cottage is fully equipped. You can enjoy cable TV or the VCR. Or you can simply relax in the beautiful cozy front room with beautiful lake views.
The kitchen is fully furnished with a stove, microwave, a full-size refrigerator, and dishes and utensils. Enjoy the attached deck for lounging and for grilling your freshly caught fish.
If you want to combine a comfortable, fully-furnished cottage [including linens and towels], and a beautiful setting with an opportunity to enjoy a magnificent array of outdoor activities, the Jimmerson Retreat is the location you've been searching for.
To start, the Chain of Lakes offers outstanding fishing. The lakes have an incredible number of panfish, as well as bass and catfish -- some in the lunker size just waiting for the perfect angler and presentation.
You can enjoy the local sandy beaches for sunning or swimming. Or you can enjoy the water from your boat, water skis or jet skis.
In addition to the water fun, there are a great number of wonderful hiking trails within minutes from the cottages. From some of these trails you can observe not only the flora, but also the local fauna. You can also explore the area on horseback. Children can enjoy pony rides, and children of all ages can join the weekend fun of a hayride. You can bike along trails or beautiful country back roads, viewing gardens and farms and traditional Amish homesteads.
For those wanting a different flavor of fun, you can enjoy Jellystone Park or the Fun Spot Amusement Park and Zoo. You can enjoy miniature golf with friends or family. Bowling is also nearby.
If golfing is your interest, you have a variety of courses only minutes away. If you want tennis, there are several public courts available. Racquetball is available at a local club.
If you want to spend your time just tuning up your body, you can pump iron or use ergodynamic machines in a local athletic club.
If your inclinations are less physically vigorous but desirous of new adventures, take time to visit the Buffalo Preserve. You can also visit an award winning winery with excellent red and white wines available for tasting and purchase. If cars are your interest, you may enjoy two local speedways. You could also take a quick 30-minute drive and enjoy the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum which houses classic vintage automobiles from the early 1900's up to WW II era vehicles. Or visit the NATMUS Museum which houses vehicles from the post war years. Or visit another flavor of museum --- the Hoosier Air Museum (operated by the Hoosier Warbirds) at the DeKalb County Airport which features aircraft from throughout the history of aviation.
Autumn offers an exceptional time to view the changing of the leaves on your hiking trail or biking route.
You can enjoy Notre Dame football and take the quick commute back to your lakeside retreat.
Wintertime offers the challenge of cross-country skiing at Pokagon State Park. If you want an exhilarating downhill challenge, try tobogganing. Or you can explore the hiking trails in the snow cover on snowshoes.
Whatever the season, Jimmerson Retreat affords you the ideal opportunity for true Re-creation--- allowing you the time and perfect setting to reflect, to recharge, and to refresh yourself.

My husband and I rented this September 2010...It was so peaceful and quiet..My husband loved the fact that he was able to fish without having alot of boat traffic on the lake. The cottage was very clean and roomy. It was just what a lake cottage is supose to represent "a worry free, melt away problems, cozy comfort cottage. There is a cute little store The Dam Store around the bend that had the best BBQ sanwhiches. We loved the little thrift store across the way..was able to pick up some neat soveniers. I am a runner and I was able to run without worrying about traffic and met a couple seniors that had a few great stories to tell. Correspondence with owners went smoothly...Got my deposit back super quick...Thanks for a great experience!!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

I would first like to respond by saying that we take all guest input seriously...however it is obvious that this renter has an agenda. We have rented this property for the past 6 years without complaint. The cottage is throughly cleaned after each rental by an Amish crew that has been with us for a period of 5 years. There is a large shared deck in excess of 300 sq. feet. There are two tables and 4 chairs at each end of the deck. The carpeting was replaced 4 years ago. It is stained in a few places due to ordinary wear but is thoroughly cleaned after each rental. A crew of two Amish young women spend 2 hours minimum after each guest leaves. Prior to arrival guests are provided complete instructions and a detailed checkin and checkout list. They are also notified that we have a lockbox key to allow them access without any scheduling conflicts, and are told that the management team can be immediately contacted if there are any concerns. For the entire time of this guest's stay, no one made contact with the rental management to express any dissatisfaction whatsoever. Only after their departure did these guests complain and request rental concessions for the alleged grievances. We believe our cottage is fairly and attractively priced. We take pride in our properties and have had consistently positive reviews from our guests at this and all of our other properties. If any issues arise during a guest's stay, our staff works hard to achieve the best possible results for our guest, but we can not address any problem proactively if we only find out after checkout that they had a concern. I can understand that a guest might have an objection to the absence of curtains in the front room... I have personally always liked the openness [I do not have window coverings on my own living room], but I can understand the privacy concern. Therefore, I will be installing window coverings for the front room this fall.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/6

To begin with, I will start by saying, that we thoroughly enjoyed our time off. But after renting lake properties for the last 12 years, without any complaints what-so-ever, that was not the case this year. We have always had one of the property owners available at check in time, to walk us through, whatever we need to know about the rental. We were basically told if there is a problem call them. That was our check in orientation. Once we entered the rental, we were totally appalled by what we found. We found cobwebs in almost every corner of the living room. We found food on the floor in one corner of the living room. The carpeting throughout the living room and kitchen had all kinds of stains. We were told to leave the rental the way we found it. Having said that, there was no need for us to clean up when we checked out. But we did out of common courtesy. On top of the conditions we have just described, some of the items in amenities were not even in the rental. Example, it said there was a deck, we did not find out until we received our paperwork with receipt that it is a shared deck with the adjoining cottage. We have never in 12 years posted a bad comment about the properties we have rented but we feel that future renters need to know of possible problems they could walk into with this rental property. We don't have any ill will towards the property owners, but we feel that you should get what you pay for. And we do not feel that we did. To finish, we contacted the property owner who in turn emailed us that he would forward these complaints to his property managment team. That was several weeks ago and we have heard no response from the management team. Renter beware.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

We just stayed at this cottage last week. It was beautiful and quiet with no loudness anywhere. The cove was at times busy with fishermen and other boaters coming around, but it did not make any huge waves in case you bring your own boat. Definitely will stay there again if the opportunity arises.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

My Wife and I stayed in this property over the New Year's holiday with a family friend. We found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable. We were delighted that the cottage was warm on a very snowy and cold holiday. All the bedding materials were provided as well as a fully stocked kitchen. We were able to have most of the comforts of home while away from home. We were pleasantly surprised that cable tv and other ammenities were provided. The views of the frozen water and the sound of the waterfall provided a very peaceful setting. The price for a holiday or a weekend is very reasonable. A wonderful value...sure beats a hotel!!!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
