Had a wonder time at the house on Devil's Knob. Beautiful home and immaculately kept. Everything was as advertised and the hose was tastefully decorated and spotless. It's in a really location with access to walking trails and golf. We were there for a wedding, so we didn't utilize the course, but the fairways looked in great shape. Thanks for the use of you home.

Great mountain home at Wintergreen Resort

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home at Wintergreen Resort. Looks like it was built recently. Great fireplace, spectacular kitchen, spacious bedrooms, and a stone's throw away from the slopes. An all around great place to stay. And was the best price in the area.

Bear Run Vacation

I gave my eleven year old grandson a mini vacation at Bear Run as a Christmas present. After arriving there, he called us on the phone and said "Gammy, this place is awesome!" My son and daughter in law loved the property and surroundings and would recommend it to anyone visiting Wintergreen. The owners were great to work with and the pictures of the property were true to the beauty of it.

I want to start off by saying THIS HOUSE IS PERFECT! Our group had 3 couples and 3 kids and we had plenty of room. The futons in each room aloud the kids to stay with thier parents and the oldest one on the soft pull out bed. It really was perfect!! The kitchen was super nice. Living room had plenty of space to lounge around and enjoy a nice fire. I don't know if you are like me, but it took me I know 2 weeks to learn our Direct tv remote. Eric and Cindy have these awsome note cards throughout the house/ living room that tells you step by step how to run the tv/ stero ect... VERY NICE! We wasted no time trying to figure things out. Eric and Cindy have REALLY went the extra mile to make you feel at home in their home and we feel very blessed to have had the oppertunity to stay in there home and we will stay there again. I will reccomand their home to all of my family and friends and really would love to check it out in the summer! WE HAD A BLAST !

Even with rain and fog dampening part of Christmas vacation, Bear Escape provided everything we needed to keep us comfortable and entertained—even without turning on either of the flat-screen TVs. The chili power and cumin we’d forgotten for our traditional tortilla soup? In the spice rack. In other words, everything you’d expect to find in a well-stocked family home was there. The central location kept the hikers happy, while the readers relaxed (or dozed) in cushy recliners. Even Barley, daughter’s languid pooch, amused herself. Wintergreen has plenty of activities, but with homes like this, you hardly need them.

We stayed here for the Tough Mudder Oct. 2011 and had a fantastic time. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and well appointed with everything you need for a great weekend. It is directly on the golf course and close to the resort with shuttle service. We would definately stay here again.

We totally enjoyed this house. It was well stocked with all the supplies you could possibly use (better than any location I have stayed at yet!) all the way down to napkins on the table. The movie library is incredible! I almost wished for a rainy day so we could stay in this very comfortable and cozy house just to watch movies! But we were able to golf both beautiful courses and fit in a challenging hike in one weekend! Everything you see in the ad is very accurate if not alittle understated, and I was impressed by how clean the house was (and I am not impressed all that easily!) We loved the location on Devil's Knob golf course and close to all the amenities of Wintergreen. I also very much appreciated that it was pet friendly, yet I could not detect that another pet had ever been there. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful and comfortable home!

Kudos to Eric and Cindy for their wonderful rental house at Wintergreen. We ended up spending more time in the house than anticipated due to the weather--snow and rain on October 2nd. But the house was so warm and cozy that it saved our weekend. The house was immaculate and everything worked! I wish I could say that about my house. I especially appreciated the quick return of the security deposit. I hope to return and highly recommend Bear Escape to anyone in any weather.

What can I say about this lovely home . . . it was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay - the owners are so friendly, super communicative, and have taken the time to include the little details that help so much. They included things like restaurant menus, helpful phone numbers, instructions on how to work electronic equipment, and supplies like paper towels, laundry soap, etc. The home is just beautiful, and we were more than comfortable there. We hope to return this winter!

I wouldly highly recommend this house. It was beautifully decorated with the top of the line appliances and huge bedrooms. The upstairs bedrooms had a king/queen beds; as well, as a futon which would make it very accomodating to families. They were also kind enough to allow us to bring our dog, Ellie, who is very much a part of us. She loved the beautiful walks including us. We also took advantage of the tennis courts. I would definitely come back!

Great Weekend Bear Escape

Our 2nd Annual Bear Escape was wonderful. We could not have ordered better weather; what a relief from the humidity. The mountains are always a great escape from the heat. This beautiful home will make you want to extend your vacation. The home is very clean and in excellent order. Any time you need anything from the owners they will be there for you. We tried some new restaurants this year; Giuseppe's in Nellysford for pizza, outstanding. We highly recommend Bear Escape to our family and friends and look forward to next year.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this house and were very pleased with the experience. In addition to being in excellent condition and nicely furnished, we were most impressed with all of the "little things" that were provided (such as detergents, trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, spice rack, etc.). While those might not sound significant, it greatly reduces the number of things the renter needs to bring/pack themselves. We also found the bed and living room furniture to be very comfortable. In addition, for those who are not familiar with the general area, we also enjoyed two excellent brew pubs that were within 10-15 miles of the house. So, fantastic house and beautiful area. We couldn't have asked for more.

Multi-family Weekend Snow Vacation

We were a multi-family party with young children and this place was beautiful and perfect for us! It looks new and is well maintained. The owners have thought of everything including the kitchen. Our children were able to play outdoors in the snow and run of some energy at the house between activities, which was helpful for the parents. Parking at the resort is a problem, but the shuttles system Wintergreen has set up operates well. The shuttles are frequent (particularly if you drive over and park the the near by Devil's Knob tennis dome & golf course or spa & fitness center). The shuttles do fill up fast though, so go early. We had all of our meals, with the exception of one (after check out) at the house. We planned our meals in advance and brought our groceries with us. The kitchen area is spacious, well laid out and has everything one needs to cook for and seat 10 people. The home has a nice wood burning fireplace and is equipped with a tankless hot water heater so you don't have to time showers in order to accommodate everyone. Between the lovely accommodations, the great experience we had at the resort (the resort is well managed and the staff are very friendly), and the affordability of the lodging, we are already planning next years visit and plan to stay longer than a weekend at this property. You should too!

Bear Escape is a beautiful home. We had 4 adults and 2 children and had plenty of room and the house was fully equipped with kitchen supplies to video games and movies. We had a fire 2 nights which was great since the temperatures were in the teens. It is convenient to the shuttle and tennis facility. We hope to stay there again in the future!

Wintergreen Winter Break

We rented just after Christmas and before New Year's as a "break" in our Winter break. Rarely does a vacation home rental exceed your expectations from the photos and info you get on the web - but this one definitely did. The house is spacious, very well appointed, and everything is new and in excellent working order. The owners provided copious information about the resort and activities, places to eat etc, and there were helpful instructions thoughout the house to help with the electonics. Loved the living area and the high table - had a lot of great family time playing games with a fire roaring and a football game on the big screen TV. We also enjoyed the Tubing and Skiing at Wintergreen - although we chose the busiest time of the year (hint if you are renting ski equipment show up early!!!!) Only thing on our wish list was a parking pass as the shuttles are a little hit and miss (but keeping in mind this was peak it's understandable). Great house, highly recommend, bet it is also great in the warm months as it sits right on the golf course!

My family and I spent three glorious fall days enjoying this home at Wintergreen. The house is extremely well-appointed, tastefully decorated and comfortable. It is a great location; very close to all of the Devil's Knob amenities. We had a lot of privacy, despite being right on the golf course! The house can certainly accomodate up to 11 people comfortably. We really enjoyed the "real" fireplace and the deck with beautiful views. Cooking in the kitchen was a breeze as it is well stocked with utensils, pans, coffee, etc. My only suggestion is to possibly increase the lighting in the family room area... maybe some brighter bulbs in the lamps or the dining room to show off the beautiful woodwork all around the house. We will certainly return to Bear Escape!!

The home looked lovely on the website, but we were so pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was in person. The rooms are large, well decorated, and equipped - we felt very 'at home' and comfortable. The beautiful kitchen had everything we needed. We used the grill for dinners, played several of the games, watched a couple of movies from the extensive library. All of our questions were answered by the owner and the discount card came in handy for golf, indoor swimming/spa, miniature golf, etc. We really enjoyed the hiking trails too. We are already trying to decide when we will go back. We had a wonderful time.

Having two master suites, one on the main level and a second upstairs made for excellent accommodations for two adult couples. Absolutely Amazing Property!

My wife and I brought our children up to experience the mountains and couldn't have asked for a better property to stay at. The house was amazing and really felt like a home. We had the chance to do some great hiking at nearby trails (Crabtree Falls and Humpback Rock). We had 8 of us total with 4 adults and 4 children. The house was family friendly, and even allowed us enough space to give the children their own "play" area in the loft. We really felt like the homeowners had invested their time, money, and love in building the best vacation home possible. Whenever we get the chance we can't wait to head back up there. My 6 year old Daughter proclaimed, "I wish we could live here forever!" and I think all of us felt the same way!

COMMENT FROM GUESTBOOK: "Thank you so much for letting us rent your beautiful home for the MLK weekend. We were wowed when we walked in and are sad we have to leave such a great place. We all relaxed, yes even with 3 kids under the age of 6, and had an enjoyable time. Kitchen amenities are great (high praise from us as we coo in & cook lots)! All furnishings are very tasteful and added to our relaxation especially the reclining sofas & chairs. Napfest central. Movie selection is awesome and we even got to see some we haven't been able to see with the kids.
