The cabin was well kept and clean. We enjoyed the fireplace as it was still very cool in the mornings as well as the hot tub. We enjoyed the horseback riding that was close by and our visit to Gatlinburg. Traffic was congested due to Spring Break and a few of the restaurants seemed over priced. Also, we spent a day at the TRACK, very over-priced compared to the NASCAR park down the street that only charges $20 for the entire day.

The cabin was beautifully decorated and what we liked most - quiet. We liked the cabin being secluded but still within a short distance of town. Thanks, we had a great relaxing time.

Owner response:Thank you so much for submitting a review. We fell in love with this cabin for just those reasons, quiet, secluded yet close to town for anything you need and want to see. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and don't hesitate to get in touch with us for any future plans to visit the Smokies, we would love to have you stay with us again. God Bless!

Beautiful!

Date of Stay: 03/28/11 Review Submitted: 04/03/11

Stag's Leap was everything promised and more! The cabin was absolutely beautiful, cozy, comfortable, private, charming-the best. Booking, check-in, and communication with the owners was excellent. The cabin was convenient to the Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, and other area attractions and restaurants. Although the weather was not the best when we visited, we did not mind because we had a beautiful cabin to spend time at. I would definetely recommend it for anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Severville area. We had a nice stay!

Owner response:So sorry to hear the weather didn't co-operate for your stay in the Smokies but we are glad to hear the cabin was exactly what you were looking for. Please keep us in mind for any future plans to visit the area, we would love to have you stay with us another time. Thank you and god bless!!

Perfect Winter Getaway

Guest: swank (Pocono mountains Pa)
Date of Stay: 02/21/11 Review Submitted: 03/01/11

My husband and I just returned from our first stay at Stag's Leap and we were both so happy I chose this beautiful, warm and fuzzy cabin for our winter vacation. I admit that I spent considerable time on the internet reviewing cabins before we arrived but this cabin looked amazing and when I saw it ,I have to say it was exactly as it was pictured and then some. We had beautiful weather which allowed us to ride our motorcycle which we trailered to the cabin. The circular driveway made it easy to park and unload. We rode all day and came back to the hot tub which was great. There is a store named Whaleys close by which had great steaks for the gas grill. We also ate at the Old Grist Mill restaurant and the food was excellent. Gatlinburg is close by and we spent a day there shopping. The cabin was immaculate and very well equipped with everything you need. The owners were extremely easy to work with and helped us to make this last minute vacation happen without difficulty. I have in fact come home and recommended this very cabin to another couple looking for a place for their anniversary week. We hope to be able to return again next year. I do not have to look anymore as I know exactly where I want to stay.

Owner response:We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Stag's Leap for your motorcycle getaway. What a way to spend your vacation on the open mountain roads motorycling the day away, some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen. We try very hard to keep the cabin up to date and well equipped to make our guest stays the most enjoyable and comfortable and I think we have accomplished just that. We ourselves are a 10 hour drive from Stag's Leap as well our larger cabin Wilderness Ridge, so comfort was the most important aspect of a cabin that we wanted when choosing a getaway. Please feel free to talk the cabin up with friends, family and co-workers, we would love to have them experience Stag's Leap also, the way we enjoy it the minute we drive in. We have had many hours of enjoyment watching the wild turkeys come in daily. A piece of heaven on earth. God Bless.

snowed in but had a blast

Guest: carlosfrommiami (miami, FL)
Date of Stay: 12/24/10 Review Submitted: 01/04/11

The Cabin was one of the cleanest and quaint that i had been in. Cookies were left by the owner (very thoughtful). The fireplace and wifi was great.Kids had fun playing pool and in the hot tubs. Got hit with the whitest Christmas since 1969 in Tennessee. Wish there was a shovel though, we were stuck in snow for four days, The community (Bay Harbor) was not ready for the snowfall as their snowplows were not working..two days later the snowplow(a pickup gracing the snow and a person in a pick up throwing salt by hand at 30 mph) wasn't doing much.. Got into town after our food ran out by Local Taxi($60.00 there and back was a steal plus we bought a shovel) After all our neighbors used our shovel to clean their areas we all managed to get out by some locals helping us out..owners were nice enough to let us off early so we can get a hotel near the Gatlingburg area...great place as long as there is no snow storms...

Owner response:We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. I don't think anyone was prepared for the snow fall the Smokies experienced over the holidays but from the pictures the mountains were breathtaking with all that snow. We do provide a shovel and salt at the side of the cabin below the front covered porch, sorry you didn't see it. How I would love to be snowed in for 4 days to enjoy our cabin, hiking around the cabin, and the scenery, I'm envious. You were the first guests that have been snowed in with our cabin since 2005. We are so glad you found the pool table and hot tub entertaining during your stay. This trip will provide your family with many fond memories along with quality family time with all that snow. Thank you and God Bless!!

First Class

Guest: Peter P. (Buffalo, NY)
Date of Stay: 04/17/10 Review Submitted: 05/15/10

Show and Tell!!! Beautifully decorated doesn't even come close to describing Stag's Leap. The cabin was our oasis in the woods. The 2 tweenty-something cathedral ceilinged rooms with a shared center piece stone fireplace just takes your breath away. This spectacular first impression didn't stop at the doorway. The well-equiped kitchen, beautiful dinning room and gorgeous bedrooms exceeded our expectations. Even more impressive was the fact our 6 six year old wanted to take the pictures of the cabin into school for show and tell. Vacations are short but memories last a lifetime. The next time our family is planning a return trip to the Smokies, I plan on contacting only the Hendersons. They are first class people with first rate properities. Thanks for your southern hospitality...

Owner response:Thank you so much for the glowing review on Stag's Leap, you were one of the first guests since the big renovations were completed and we are so glad to hear back feedback for our guests. We are extremely glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin tucked away in the Smokies, it is a special place for Chris & I both. Please give us a call whenever you plan on a return stay in the Smokies, we would love to have you stay with us at either of our cabins. Thank you and god bless!!

Having stayed in your other cabin Wilderness Ridge before we knew what to expect when I booked Stag's Leap! We were awed by all the little extras that can make a cabin a "home away from home". Carolyn & Chris you have a show place here. We really enjoyed our week here. It was a true vacation because we ready didn't hurry and run all the time we were there. We recharged our batteries. What a terrific time we had staying at Stag's Leap for first week in December. The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas both inside and out. The owners have made sure all the necessities and amenities were there to make our stay perfect. Beautiful scenery outside and a short drive to restaurants and attractions. Gatlinburg is 20 minutes away. The cabins is so cozy that you will find it difficult to leave. We would definitely stay here again.

I wanted to thank you so VERY MUCH for sharing your place with us! We saw the wild turkeys before we even pulled into your driveway! You cabin on the outside as well the inside, could be featured in a magazine!. So gorgeous, very tastefully decorated too!!! We shopped till we dropped, ate until we couldn't move and also visited many attractions and came back in the evenings to relax. You did not leave one single detail out, in your cabin other than underplaying just how great it is!! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us.

We had a fabulous time at "Stag's Leap." What a beautiful cabin! We rocked each evening away on the front porch and were surprised at the raccoon that came to visit. Each morning started with breakfast on the back deck. It took us until noon each day to make ourselves leave for our day of sight seeing. The cabin is beautifully decorated and is so warm and cozy. It provided a much needed rest before our daughter's wedding next month. We had a great time with dear friends. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin in the Smokies.

Owner response:We hope that Stag's Leap offered you the cozy, relaxing and laid back time you wanted before the hectic pace of your upcoming family wedding. The front porch is one of our favorite spots to relax on. I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Almost heaven, Smokie Mountains

Guest: Lloyd's wife (Fort Atkinson, WI)
Date of Stay: 07/18/09 Review Submitted: 07/28/09

It's clean, quiet, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and fun. It is a home away from home except it is suited for the mountains. We are 70ish and appreciate the quality and cleanliness of this home. There are neighbors but we never saw them or spoke with them. It is far enough from town to be out in the woods but close enough to eat out every evening if you care to. Eat in? You bet. The kitchen is well equipped. There is even an ice maker. We were there in the summer but it would be nice most any time of the year except winter unless you have a 4wd vehicle. The roads are windy and steep. It is worth every penny we paid. Suzanne

We had a wonderful visit at your cabins this past weekend. The weather was mild and the mountains inviting. We are frequent visitors to the area and have stayed at several other cabins and your cabin has a warm and welcoming feeling from the moment you walk in the door. We found everything clean, well stock and ready for our visit. The kitchen was one of the best stocked kitchens I have seen with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching the local wildlife and while we didn't see the large flock of turkeys we did see a smaller group and one of the largest racoons we have ever seen. We will definitely be back to enjoy another dose of the mountain magic you have filled this cabin with.

I wanted an alternative to a hotel room without giving up the easiness of one. I got the best of both worlds with this cozy cabin. I loved the decor, I camped out on the swing and watched the turkey and racoon, and was so content. I was able to cook several meals for my special diet inlaws, the kitchen was wonderfully stocked. If we had to go out to eat 3 meals a day, we wouldn't have anytime to rest, and would have spent a fortune. This was wonderful, and we definately will be back. Didn't get to check out the hot tub, but I think we took advantage of all the other amenities. My mother in law loved the checker table, and I beat the father in law at cards, alot. Really fabulous alternative to hotels. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Doug and Suzie Kirkendoll

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stag's Leap! The cabin is very cozy and the decorating made us immediately feel at home. We enjoyed the wild turkeys morning and evening and also had a visit from a raccoon. This cabin has a very well equipped kitchen, game room and beds and bedding are very comfortable. We will certainly recommend this home away from home to our friends. In fact, we went to see the Henderson's larger cabin and fell in love with it at first sight and are hoping to return with a larger group in September. We were very impressed with our dealings with the owners and felt they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. DON"T HESITATE TO BOOK THIS CABIN, YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

This cabin is the most beautiful and comfortable cabin we have ever stayed in! Everything was immaculate. Very accessible for my elderly in-laws. The pool table and hot tub were the highlights of our children's trip. The view is beautiful, sitting on the front porch swings was so relaxing. We will definatly be back to this cabin and are looking into staying at her sister cabin this fall. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris and he was very personable. Carolyn kept me informed with answering all of my question. They have excellent communication. We just want to say thank you for letting us stay at your dream house, it will forever let us hold memories in our hearts! You will not be dissappointed if you stay at this lovely cabin. We just returned from a wonderful stay at "Stag's Leap". We do believe this is the nicest cabin we have had the opportunity to stay in. It is decorated beautifully and so nice and cozy! Our 2 yr. old loved the deer decor and was amazed by the 23 (didn't expect that many) turkeys that greeted us at 7:00am Saturday morning. He was up the next morning looking for them again. We enjoyed the privacy that the wooded area offered. This is rare and hard to find with a lot of cabins in the area. It was not hard to find either...we liked the access from Dawn's lane better than the other side. We arrived in town around 6:00pm, at dark, and drove straight to it with no problems. We have been looking for a cabin that we can return to again and again. I think this just may be it!!! Thanks for all your help Carolyn!

Owner response:Stacey & Eric, we were glad to hear the turkeys were out for your little one to see. When ever you need some R & R feel free to contact us again, we would love to have you stay with us again. Thank you.

Your cabin is absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed our stay very much. I have stayed at several cabins on Ski Mountain and haven't been in any as nice as yours. Karen said "IT FELT JUST LIKE HOME". I wish I had called and asked if it was possible to stay at your cabin a few extra nights. Karen is still "xxxing" me because we didn't make that call. We did drive around and find your other cabin. It has a beautiful view and we were greeted by the turkeys. WE LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER STAY AT Stag's Leap". Thank you for your hospitality and the use of your cabin.

FELT JUST LIKE HOME

WOW!!! We felt at home just driving into the driveway. The pictures do not do this cabin justice. The rustic elegance of Stag's Leap has definitely been captured. You can tell a lot of love for the mountains and this cabin went into the decor of this cabin. We tried to stay longer than our 3 night stay but Stag's Leap was already booked, no wonder why! Cozy and comfortable, we loved this cabin, far better than we have stayed in before. We will definitely be returning to our home away from home, hopefully soon.

We arrived on the afternoon of Sept. 15. Everything is even nicer than we imagined after seeing the pictures on the internet. We are on Honda Goldwing motorcycles and the driveway is great. We pulled small cargo trailers for luggage and any extras from all the shopping along the way. Your cabin is lovely, your taste in decorating is really beautiful and homey. We hope to return some day.

The four of us enjoyed your cabin, so cozy. We had been to TN about 3 or 4 times a year and this one is the coldest. Thank you for all the updates, glad your dream came true, I hope one day mine will to.

Thank you for the wonderful stay! Us four 20-somethings had a blast! We didn't see any turkeys but we also were gone all day. We enjoyed the trolley tour of lights and all the lights of winterfest. Had great weather, and quite an experience, great vacation

Our stay at Stag's Leap was just awesome, plenty of room for th 6 of us. The pictures do not due this cabin justice, just amazing place to getaway from it all. It felt like home the minute we drove in to the property, plenty of parking also. The beds, we didn't want to get up in the morning, so we didn't, so cozy and comfortable!!! The wild turkeys came in almost to the front door, amazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a traditional Smoky Mountain log cabin. And the colors of fall at this cabin were brilliant. I ran home to tell all my friends and family.

We have had a wonderful week here. The cabin is beautiful. We have stayed in a cabin for the past 3 years and I have to say this has been the best! We loved the location, easy to get in & out. The only wildlife we saw was the squirrels. The furniture fit the cabin great. We had so much fun and will always have great memories

Great cabin! so comfy, cozy. My 8 year old sone kept wishing that we would not be allowed back to Alabama and we would have to live here. Had a visit from the 'coon about 5am. That thing was huge. Thanks for a great stay.

The cabin was great. No complaints. You could say we have done our share for the economy as our tax incentive check was spent on our little vacation. Money well spent. I am an avid deer hunter back home in Illinois so the cabin decor was right up my alley. Our 13 year old son got to feed the turkey. The pool table kept him pretty busy. Four days here were spent in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Cades Cove. My new camera got a workout. Lots of great pictures to take home. Nice to come back to the cabin and relax at the end of the day. THANK YOU!!

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin. We came up here with our 2 sons. Our 5 year old loved the "hot pool" and our 15 year old played pool. We fed the turkeys at least 3 times and we say a racoon taking off a large rock from the garbage. The cabin was very relaxing and cozy. I really enjoyed sitting on the back deck listening to nature. We will definitely be back soon.

We enjoyed out stay in your beautiful cabin. It felt like just like home. We even got to feed a turkey up close and saw a racoon!! The hottub was great and we had many fun nights playing pool! I enjoyed staying here and so did my 5 month old sister.

We're back!! We were here a year ago. I didn't think the cabin could get any better, but it did. We were planning on staying 5 nights but Ken surprised me for Mother's Day and we are staying one more night. I am so happy we don't have to go home today. We all just love it here, hope to be back next year.
