My husband and I took our teenage son here for spring break. What a perfect time we had. I was concerned that our son would be bored but he enjoyed fishing off the deck and watching the seals play. We basically had the beach to ourselves. House owners were wonderful to work with! We had the most delicious pizza from the community pizza night which is held on Tuesday and Sunday. We will definitely be back...I would never have thought that such a quiet and relaxing place existed so close to San Francisco!

When we arrived we all were so thrilled. This place is so sweet. Watching the tidal changes was fantastic. Our first morning my husband and I hopped in our river kayaks at low tide (getting in right off the deck) and paddled out to surf kayak at the mouth of the lagoon. As the tide continued to go down, we came back and our 2 kids joined us to explore the lagoon and we hiked all the way around the island in the mudflats following various bird tracks. And then the water rushes back in, and with it the seals and grebes and great changes. So close to town on the beach - and what an easy paddle over to Stinson for longer hikes or beach combing. My daughter and I took a great paddle out to see the seals who were beached up the lagoon with their pups (we kept our distance). (Note: the hardest part of our stay was an orphaned or weaned seal pup who stayed below the deck calling for mama.) Even in cooler weather we bundled up and ate out on the deck. My 9 year old son made the mistake of feeding the gulls off the deck at one point only to go in to get the ketchup and have one fly away with his burger bun! It was quite funny. We really were thrilled with this place and highly recommend treating yourself to such a sweet experience! (PS -- i'm usually a quite hard-to-please type!)

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday last weekend. We could not get over the amazing views from inside the house and on the deck. We were lucky to have beautiful weather in January and enjoyed many hours on the deck watching the birds and the tide go in and out. We will definitely stay here again.

Truly a special place. We loved fishing off the deck, watching the herons nesting in the pine trees and saluting the seals as they swam by. The house was perfect and the town of Bolinas has everything - even a great organic store. I can't wait to get back there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this cottage in Bolinas. The views were wonderful, and I'd highly recommend stopping at the Muir Overlook. Breathtaking! Very peaceful just sitting on the deck, listening to the surf, and watching the seals swim in and out of the lagoon. We were there in April, and there was some light fog on and off, but it was still well worth the trip. The cottage is very nice, and had everything that you could possibly need on hand. We certainly plan to return!

Park your car, relax and enjoy this charming house on the water. Everything you need is only a few minutes away. If you don't feel like walking, take the canoe and explore the lagoon. There's plenty of Bat Rays, seals and countless wildlife to keep you company. Lived in the Bay Area my entire life, but still shocked that "secret" places like this exist less than an hour from SF. Owners are very nice an couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely be returning for another mini-vacation soon.

Friendly owners and a friendly house: We had a group of 15+ on the deck for July 4th festivities and ten at the dinner table one night (plenty of dishes and plenty of room) but it was cosy for the rest of the week for just a grandmother and granddaughter. Nice amenities: canoe, elegant bedding, books for local history and sites. Splendid view: seals, nesting herons, shifting light and tides. We hope to return next year!

Steps from the beach, steps from town, right on the lagoon, this cottage is a great place to enjoy the north coast. Plenty of space, nice amenities, responsive owners. It's got it all: boho town, surf, hike, canoe (comes w/the cottage), yoga on the deck or just lounge on the window seats with a cup of tea and watch the light on the water and the birds swoop by.

Very relaxing house right on the water - a great place to relax & read a book. House was a great break from city life. Owners are very personable. A very enjoyable trip to the west coast.

This is an incredibly charming cottage. It's modern enough to relax in comfort but still manages to capture the distinct feel of Bolinas. The open kitchen and large living area look out onto a lagoon and a protected reserve populated by hawks, pelicans, herons, gulls and dozens of other birds. Keep warm by the wood fire, walk to the beach, sit in the sun on the deck and watch the tide roll in. If there's a better way to experience Bolinas, I haven't found it.
