We had a fantastic time here! It was well appointed, very private and everything it says it is in the ad. Comfy and unpretentious, the cabin has great views from the living room, master and deck and our dog loved the spacious lot with its many paths and different areas to discover (def. do the galiano grind!). Be prepared that the north end of galiano has nothing in the way of services, which depending on what you are looking for is a good or a bad thing. For us, we were focused on relaxing in the cabin and hitting the trails and beaches so it was perfect. Although set up to sleep 7-8, it was just the two of us and the upstairs living area worked just fine and didn't feel overly large. Amanda was extremely helpful with tips and with the booking process -- thanks again Amanda!

We knew we wanted to stay on Galiano, and we wanted to rent a house, not stay at some super-expensive resort. The Galiano Getaway proved to be the perfect balance of solitude and convenience. It's a well-appointed house without getting too fancy. Think of it as your friends' cottage: comfortable furniture and beds, fun art on the walls and a great kitchen for entertaining. The location is great: close to many hikes and points of interest, a 10 minute drive to the island's two shops (which were lifesavers, btw) and a short walk to the water's edge. Our 3.5 yo boy loved the house and the grounds, and our 1 yo actually learned to crawl during the week we were there. The house is child-proofed quite well. One thing to note: be prepared to take your garbage and recycling with you when you leave. Learning we had to do this was a bit of a surprise, but not too difficult to accommodate. You can recycle most of your glass and plastic on the island (I think there's bins near the ferry terminal), but you can only drop off garbage one day a week. Otherwise, you have to pack it in your car and take it back to the mainland.

Many thanks for your email. I apologize for my delayed response -- where did the summer go? Yes, yes, all went well at your home. The kitchen was well-equipped, the rooms, beds, and bedding were lovely and as expected. We had great walks and bike rides and beach combings. I hope that we left all in order. Thanks again for a great stay! Lee Anne

Thanks again for your hospitality this weekend. We very much enjoyed your comfortable cottage and the gorgeous views from the deck. We ate all our meals outside, took full advantage of the BBQ and were really pleased to find the place kitted out with everything we needed. My parents were fascinated with the boat-watching and the gorgeous view from the master bedroom, and we refilled the hummingbird feeder so we had some tiny visitors. The weather was fabulous so we didn't spend much time indoors, but we appreciated the binder full of info on the island and we were able to do some great exploring. Just wanted to thank you for opening your cottage to us. We had a lovely weekend on Galiano.

The Galiano Getaway was such a lovely cabin experience! The cabin offers tons of room, it's very homely, and the area is stunning. The cabin is well stocked and well maintained, and the owners are very helpful. It is a wonderful cabin in the woods that is surrounded by trails which lead to beautiful beaches. The island is so calm and peaceful and this cabin is a perfect extension of the island's feel. I would recommend this location to everyone and I can't wait to go back. What an amazing place to stay!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your positive review. We love our 'getaway' and so enjoy sharing it with others.

From the minute we drove up, I felt it was perfect. It was just what we needed. At the end of our trip my husband said it was the best family trip we had been on yet. We celebrated my eldest daughter's 7th birthday while there. My Mom and Dad came out for 3 nites and stayed at Serendipity. We all ended up at the Hummingbird pub for her birthday lunch. Delicious! We went on hikes, swimming at Morning Beach a few times. Even the cold rainy days at the beginning were wonderful thanks to all the wonderful board games you guys had. The house had everything we needed. We brought paper towels and toilet paper and things like that and it was unnecessary. Well we know for next time. What I loved most of all was all the places to put our "things". Lots of drawers, closet space, hooks. Beautifully organized. Thanks again Amanda and we certainly hope to return soon.

"We had a wonderful time on the Island and the cottage was perfect - tons of space for the boys, and the deck was fantastic - we ate all of our meals out there and watched the hummingbirds. We did a lot of exploring and relaxing as well. Everytime we visit the Island, we wish we lived closer. Thanks so much for maing our trip even better!"

We have enjoyed renting this relaxing, spacious cabin at least once a year for the past 3 years. It's the perfect place to effortlessly escape the reality of city life (Vancouver). We love it more each time we visit. The large deck is arguably our favorite part of the cabin- the view is amazing. At the cabin there is so much to do (games, books, movies, puzzles, hammock, and bbq)! The owners have added upgrades each time we have visited from wireless internet to zero-gravity lounging chairs, for example. Also, they have always been prompt and informative when returning requests/ information not only about the cabin, but also dining recommendations, beaches, groceries, activities, and hikes on the island. Enjoy, Very Satisfied Renters
Owner response:It is wonderful that you find our 'Galiano Getaway' one of your favorite vacation spots. We too have spent many, many hours with friends and family on that deck:) We just added an IPOD/IPHONE dock connected to the stereo so bring your music! I am always so peaceful and content when i'm sitting enjoying a bbq salmon on a summer evening looking out to sea and sunset. Thank you for your review and the 'Galiano Getaway' looks forward to your next visit!

Beautiful Island but location of cottage was very far from the ferry terminal, (difficult to get to by bike or moped.) Also better signage would benefit visitors especially during the winter months. Great fresh air and a very eco-friendly island, plan to return to Galiano and just be still ...

We have enjoyed the Galiano Getaway several times in the past decade. We always have a great time in the comfortable, welcoming cottage. When we leave we miss the beautiful view, the smell of sea and forest, the company of eagles, the night sky views and the peaceful relaxation found there. Our favorite hike is Bodega Ridge and each beach access has its own special interests.

We had a great, relaxing and quiet week on Galiano Island. You house is a perfect getaway with everything needed: kitchen stuff, towels, BBQ, fan and heater. It was very comfortable and big enough for our family of 4. Our oldest son enjoyed his room in the basement. We enjoyed the deck very much, ate there almost every night and played scrabble there as well.Nice view on the channel and peaceful spot.We even did not use the CD player. I wanted real peace!Exploring the island was great. Everyday we headed up for a different place: Dionisio Park (once on our bike from your house, the other from the gate), The Bluffs, Mont Galiano, and Pebble Beach…Going back sometimes would be great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean, well-equiped cottage. It is such a peaceful spot. We loved dining on the deck and enjoying the gorgeous view. Our two young boys had fun exploring the island's beaches and waterfronts.

Our family has spent time at this cottage most summers for the past 10 years. We were there a week ago and although set in a quiet area of the Island our teenage daughtes had a fabulous time. On our numerous visits we have climbed Mt. Galiano, walked the shores of Montague Harbour, watched eagles in Bluff Park, explored a number of seculed beaches as well as relaxed at the cottage playing games, listening to music, reading and enjoying the view from the deck. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful and quiet holiday in a very well equipped cottage.
