Our family of four (2 adults and 2 Kids ages 13.5 and 9) had a great time this past week. The house was perfect - just enough room for everyone to have their own space after a "hard day" in NOLA. The neighborhood is quiet, but minutes from everything. We loved hanging out at Charlie's across the street as it was like stepping back in time. (they even gave our son, Charlie, a tshirt). I highly recommend this spot - plenty of room, nice to have a kitchen and washer/dryer etc.

SEC Tourney / Big Blue Family Reunion

My family likes to get together for the SEC basketball tourney and this was our first trip to the Big Easy as a family group. We had 8 people and rented both the house and the suite. The place was perfect for our group. Close to everything we wanted to do and still in a quiet neighborhood setting. The nearby restaurants were great,we tried Pascal's Manale for dinner and the Il Posto Italian Deli for breakfast and lunch, both were outstanding. (Go early to Pascal's, it gets crowded) Everything in the house worked as described and all the amenities were great, would definitely return!

The Dryades House

We highly reccommend this house to any visitors to New Orleans. We stayed here for the BCS Championship Game and absolutely loved it. It is close enought to the Quarter, but far enough to avoid big crowds. There are some great spots Uptown located near this house. This is a must stay in New Orleans.

*****FIVE STARS! the house, location and city are worth the trip. We had a great time and our house provided everything we needed. I rented the Dryades house from 10/13-10/16 and I must say it's better than what you see online. The house was so clean, well kept and welcoming! We had everything we needed there, even the coffee in the morning! One of my fav's is the porch, so peaceful and tranquil. I sat out there every morning sippin' on some coffee. The neighbors are so friendly too! I will certainly be back to New Orleans AND the Dryades. A great way to vacation! :)

Great place to stay that gets you away from the hubbub and noise of downtown. Pasquales restaurant is practically across the street and we had both a lunch and a dinner there. Yumm The Dryades house was clean and very well equipped with amenities. Brought things we didn't need. This was effortless to book and Val always answered the phone by the second ring when I had a question. I would recommend to friends and family.

This place was great. It was in a perfect location, just a few blocks from the St. Charles streetcar. It is lovely inside and has so many amenities. I felt very safe in this neighborhood. Why stay in a cramped hotel room when this is the same price???? . I will definitely stay here again.

Fabulous First NOLA Visit and The Dryades Suite was the Biggest Contributor!

We three adults spent an absolutely fabulous week at The Dryades Suite for our first Jazz Fest and New Orleans week. The Jazz Fest speaks for itself but staying at Dryades away from the insanity of downtown and French Quarter was the best choice we made. Sitting on the stoop in the mornings and getting to know the wonderful neighbors and doggies helped make us feel like locals in a new neighborhood. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! Getting to know the local establishments (plus recommendations via Bob B) made things easy. Transpo was convenient and inexpensive with the Streetcar right there or an inexpensive taxi at hand as needed. Felt totally safe the entire time. Found The New Freret on accident and had a couple great meals. And the comforts provided by Dryades Suite were perfect. All things necessary for a little home away from home and comfy beds, great linens, peaceful, and quiet. We will be back!! And the arrangements were easy! Just dont reserve when we want to come back!! :-)

Several of my colleagues and I traveled in to NOLA for a conference the weekend of January 23. We live in Louisiana, and often travel to NOLA and stay in hotels. This was such a better option and we would do it again anytime. The house was lovely and comfortable and the restaurants in the area were great. Thanks!!

great place to stay. restaurants and other amenities very close as is the main downtown area. far enough from bourbon street that you are not involved in festivities but close enough to drive there in few minutes. only drawback is one room connect with next so have people walking through your bedroom to get from living room to kitchen. but found house very clean, kitchen well stocked and comforts like tv in every bedroom a real plus.

Our stay at the Dryades house was delightful. The property was comfortable, clean and safe. Val was great to work with--quick to respond to questions, and was able to work with us for early check in/late check out. Other than the great accomodations, nice touches included fresh flowers and drinking water in the fridge. Nice, walkable neighborhood, only three blocks from the St. Charles streetcar. Dryades House was a haven for us after long days of exploring New Orleans. We especially liked Il Posto, a little Italian place down the street. Simple and delicious food, just right for lunch or a light dinner.

Wonderful Home Away from Home

We stayed at the Dryades House for 4 nights in August for a family wedding. There were 6 of us who shared the whole house, including my 80 year old aunt and our 3 teenage daughters. We found there to be plenty of room for all of us. It was a very charming house, in a wonderful location, right near St. Charles Ave. and Magazine Street. The street is very quiet, and we were never disturbed by anyone walking by on the street. There was a nice steakhouse/bar directly across the street from the house, and one night we had a good dinner there, excellent steak. We also enjoyed feeding the stray cat that hangs around the house. I would definitely recommend this house to someone who wants a more personal feel to their visit to New Orleans, rather than staying in a sterile hotel room.

We had a great time in NOLA from April 5 - 9, in which I had the opportunity to celebrate my 34th bday with my family. Our accommodations at the Dryades House were so comfortable AND comforting after long days out on the town. We loved the location (in between the French Quarter and the Audubon Zoo) and how it was so close to the St. Charles Streetcar. The front porch was my favorite, as one night during a thunderstorm, I was able to sit out in the middle of the night and enjoy a good (sheltered) rain with a cup of coffee. Also a friendly little black and white cat from the neighborhood would visit on the porch with my kids every morning! The traditional shotgun home was well kept and definitely exciting for the kids to explore. We loved the flatscreens in each room and the curtains to separate the living area from the bedrooms at night. Thanks for your hospitality! We can't wait to visit again.

Nifty little hideaway of Val's. Floors can be a litle chilly with the cold weather, but manageable. Loved Il Posto and running into James Carville at lunch was an added treat. We were done, but sat and listened in to him discuss a variety of topics with the Tulane students. Truly fascinating no matter what your politics are! We will be back again.

The Dryades House is a beautifully decorated, cozy, well-located, holiday getaway. It was so much nicer to stay at the house than a hotel, especially considering that I stayed there with my family- mother son and sister, and this way we could all be together and not have to worry about rushing out in the morning for breakfast (we made it at home) or going back and forth between rooms in the evening. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone considering a vacation in New Orleans.

We came from Midland, TX and our daughter and her family from Jackson, MS to spend an "early Christmas" ... and our accomodations couldn't have been better! There was room for all nine of us, and the amenities (all those TV's!) were nice, especially the kitchen. Loved the location ... easy walk to the streetcar to take us to the quarter or to the Riverbend area. We even rode to the end of the line at Claiborne St. one day and shopped for groceries at the store right across the street. We have visited NOLA many times since our daughter attended college in New Orleans, but this is our first stay in a real HOME ... Loved it! Hope to come again.

We rented the entire Dryades house and the suite for our family Thanksgiving. Our children and their families met in New Orleans from all over the US and we had a great time. The "shotgun" layout of the house was very unique and surprisingly spacious. Everything in the house and suite was very clean and updated. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the great memories.

Rented the house for a five day conference we were attending in NOLA. Everything about the house, from the furnishings, the neighborhood, and the restaurant recommendations were spot on. We had a great time there and it was very nice to return "home" every night rather than to a hotel room. Very hospitable hosts and accommodations. Will gladly use this location again and will constantly check VRBO first for all future trips.

Me and my friends stayed in the Dryades House during Halloween weekend 2009 and were instantly at home. The amenities were perfect and charming and the house was more comfortable than you can imagine. If only I could take that Plantation Bed home with me. We loved that you could seal off each area of the house for privacy and we loved the addition of the second bathroom! The kitchen was a godsend. I became ill during the weekend and it felt like home and not a sterile hotel. The HDTVs with DVD players helped quell the boredom of being in bed all day. The Morels are a joy to work with and maintain a lovely property! I will definitely be staying there again. I give it four stars!

This place is awesome. So much more than what we expected. You could basically take your clothes and toiletries and just move in cause it has everything you would ever need. And it is decorated beautifully. Every room has a flat screen TV. The kitchen is loaded with anything and everything you need. All you need to provide is food and drink. Everything has been so well thought out and I will never stay anywhere else as long as this is an option. You have made me a customer for life. We loved everything about it. Thank you for helping make our trip to your beautiful city even better. I give it five stars. Just perfect!!!

Wow! We are so glad we found the Dryades House. It's been so beautifully remodeled and decorated (we especially loved all the New Orleans photos & touches). It's also in a great and safe location (close to the streetcar and we loved the folks at Charley's). Val & Renee were prompt and professional and we are looking forward to coming back again.

The house was just beautiful and so comfortable! Four of us vacationed there and each one of us had our own (3)flat panel TV at night. Location is wonderful right in the beautiful Garden District. We rented a car and it was great. Charlie's Steak House is right across the street and well worth dinner (opens at 5pm). I have already recommended this house to a co-worker and we intend to stay again on our next trip to NO!!! Thanks for a great time!

The Dryades House was a perfect choice for our family to stay at while we attended a wedding. It was bargain priced for our 7 family members. Inside, everything was immaculate and well maintained, with many nice touches such as coffee, a nice landscaping, and bathroom treats. It's vintage NO architecture, one side of an old (I think, 1912) double shotgun--living room, bedroom 1, bath, bedroom 2, and kitchen-- so a it offers a little less privacy than some, but also some authentic NO home living style from that period. It's also very centrally located. Our group made walking trips to Magazine Street and St. Charles, where a streetcar can conveniently be picked up to go downtown.

Staying at The Dryades House was wonderful! It was a joy to relax on the front porch with the soothing sound of the fountain next door. The rooms were spacious. The lighting was great. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and perfect when I cooked dinner for 8. Also, it was neat to have a classic steakhouse (We ate there and loved it) across the street. I plan to stay here again.

We enjoyed the Dryades House at Mardis Gras 2009. It is the perfect location to take in the Uptown parades--only three blocks off most parade routes! This is a spectacular "shotgun" style New Orleans home with high ceilings and decorative fireplaces in nearly every room. The front porch is a great place to sit with a cup of New Orleans coffee and warm yourself in the sun. The interior rooms are richly decorated with elegant floor-to-ceiling curtains and fine linens. The kitchen is completely set for cooking, cabinets full of dishes and glassware. No detail has been overlooked, including a complete spice rack. I loved the high kitchen table and large refrigerator. There is plenty of closet space and nice fluffy towels in the bathroom. We brought two children on this trip, and the arrangement of the bedrooms allowed privacy to children and adults alike. The children loved the flat screen TV sets in each room! This is a great vacation rental for families or friends.

Very nice place! Everything was quality. I travel lots so these extra items I really appreciate. On another note I grew up in shotgun house in New Orleans so using your place brought back loads of great memories. My friend was visiting from the UK and fell in love with the place, says she wants one! You will hear from me again.

We hope you will love our beautiful uptown New Orleans home! Although the home was built circa 1910, we have just finished MAJOR renovations and the home is fully equipped with brand new furniture, appliances, central air and heat, flat screen cable TV with DVD players, modern kitchen, etc. One of the greatest things about this home is its location in beautiful uptown New Orleans. Several famous New Orleans restaurants are within easy walking distance, and Charlie' Steak House is directly across the street! It is an easy 3 block walk to catch the world-famous street cars. It is a quick 10 minute drive to downtown New Orleans and world-famous French Quarter. Conveniently located for all of the New Orleans festivals and sporting events.
