Fantastic Reunion Setting

Guest: Marilyn (Northern California)
Date of Stay: 01/05/12 Review Submitted: 01/19/12

What a wonderful house! We had a four generation family reunion here in honor of our matriarch's 100th birthday after the New Year and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house has ease of entry, spacious kitchen and dining area flowing into the lovely open great living room with spectacular views of Canandaigua Lake and sets the tone for easy entertaining. Plenty of bedroom space (We slept 6 adults and 5 children) with private baths along with great game room, toys for the youngsters, HDTV, stereo throughout the house made for comfort of all. The house is tastefully furnished and the kitchen is made for cooking and entertaining - you don't have to worry about having enough dishes, glasses, utensils or serving pieces - the owner has stocked it well. Confortable beds, cozy blankets - this place has all the luxury you could ask for. Chuck, the owner was so helpful, recommending restaurants and being a phone call away if needed. He made us feel like old friends. This home really made our occasion the memorable success it was! Thanks, Chuck and Linda for letting us share your beautiful home. We hope to see you again.

The listing was accurate and photos reflected the rental's appearance. We truly enjoyed our stay. The owners were extremely helpful and made our arrangements effortless. Not only would I recommend this property, I would definitely stay here on a future trip to Canandaigua. The location is convenient to anything in the Finger Lakes Region. Thank you for making our visit memorable.

Wonderful Retreat with family & friends!

This was a wonderful destination for our family & friends. No one was disappointed in the accomodations in fact they exceeded our expectations. The owners were wonderful in working with our schedules and providing information on the surrounding areas. We found the Finger Lakes area to be charming with varied activities to meet the desires of each group member. We did many things as a group but most of all we enjoyed the comforts of our temporary "home" as it allowed us to be together as a group & provided space for time alone if one desired. As a plus the views were relaxing, shopping was easy if we wanted to cook & the kitchen was delightful. Local restaurants were great. WE WILL RETURN!!!

Fantastic Luxury Vacation Home

My family and I had the unique pleasure of spending a family reunion at this wonderful Canandaigua luxury home, property # 214633. The house made us feel pampered and comfortable at the same time, a great combination for the diversity of needs in our group. From the gormet kitchen to the large game room everyone found something special. The great room with big screen tv and surround sound system was perfect for any rainy days and the lakeside bluestone courtyard was a sunbather's delight. The owners could not have been more considerate and truly made us feel welcome. This was the ideal spot for a family gathering and we will definitely be returning.

Awesome area and house, but ad not precise

The Great - The house is gorgeous just as the pictures show. The patio is fantastic for sitting outside and enjoying a lake view. The LOCATION is perfect - so close to everything you would want to do. The house was clean and well maintained upon arrival. The owner greeted us and showed us around. Suggestions - rent kayaks at a local shop. I wish I remember the name - but Chuck (owner) can help you find it - right on the pier. They were 30 for the first day, 25 for each additional. We loved having them for the week. Go wine tasting on Seneca lake. I'm not a NY wine lover, but I found the wine trail particularly enjoyable - with delightful little wineries with gorgeous views. Chuck can even take you in a limo if you wish. Restaurants - Brown Hound (great outdoor place - seafood, etc), Rio Tomatlin (Mexican - right in town - not Tex Mex - REAL Mexican), NY Wine and Culinary Center (Thursday is BYOB if you prefer non-NY wine - otherwise they offer wine/food pairing). We enjoyed outdoor seating. My only negative - The house does not have 5 bathrooms. There are only 4. The owner suggests in a previous review that one bathroom is Jack and Jill - true- meaning two bedrooms have doors leading into one bathroom. We found 4 bathrooms not to be enough. Also, the 6th bedroom isn't really a bedroom - it's a futon couch at the top of the beautiful winding staircase. This may be fine for some people - but it's an FYI - not really a bedroom - it's just a futon in a hallway area (could be good for a teenager). Last, the air-conditioning didn't cool the second floor at night. Those of us who slept upstairs were very uncomfortable - even with the fans - at night. Obviously this is a non-issue in cooler months. The house will sleep 10 in beds - plus there are sofas in two of the bedrooms and the futon. There is also a playroom (fabulous room) that has 2 beds - but you do pay an additional fee to use that room as a bedroom. Despite these issues (and a bit of a disaster on our part when we left - despite the 350 cleaning fee (oh - you can have their housekeeper come in for a fee during the week and she is awesome) - we should have cleaned out the fridge and noticed an issue with an older relative which we are sorry about) - we had a fantastic time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house - just be aware of the bedroom/bathroom issues. But if location and view are most important to you, this is THE house for you. Thanks again to the owner.

Special 50th Anniversary

Guest: Ed (Rochester, NY)
Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 08/02/10

This is a beautiful property, and was recently the location for my parents 50th wedding aniversary. The location is superb, directly on the water and close to, but not on top of,all the happenings on the northern end of the lake. The house is huge, and well accomodated my parents, my brothers and their wives without us being on top of each other. The owner was most accomodating, and I would highly recommend this spot for a special occasion (or just 1st class vacation).

Great area-inaccurate description of home.

Guest: Dee (Avon Lake, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 06/28/10

Great location-large home with great views. The area is beautiful and offers great activities. Description of property was not correct-6th bedroom is a futon in a hallway, only 4 bathrooms and there is no gazebo or sandy beach. Air conditioning does not cool any upstairs areas - this is further evidenced by owner-placed fans. Expectations were based on description so this caused problems on our arrival. Would highly recommend area, but not this house.

Owner response:We are a customer orientated family business for over 41 years. We initially talked to the booking party (undisclosed name) on many occasions regarding our property and all the details of it.The party giving the review (Dee)was never involved in any of these discussions. The 6th bedroom is a dedicated room with futon bedding which is extremely popular in the industry. You have a sitting room that also makes into a bed.The 5th bathroom is a Jack and Jill full bathroom, which is shared with (2) adjacent bedrooms, very common in this profession. The sandy beach area is near by,as originally discussed with the booking party, and was never mentioned to me during their stay.We have found that many people prefer natural air versus air conditioning,so we have pedestal fans located in several areas.I called several times during their stay to make sure all questions were answered and to see if we could do anything for them. The booking party, said all was great and she never mentioned any of those concerns to me.Please review all the reviews and you can see that we are very customer orientated business. We do a lot of repeats from year to year with the same customers. It almost makes me feel like part of their family. Those are the customer that give back to us with there thank fullness.Thank you for the opportunity to discuss this review,Chuck and Linda ,CLLR,LLC.

So Much To Offer

Guest: Marge & Tom (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/20/09 Review Submitted: 08/05/09

Our family was lucky enough to find and rent this property for the 2 weeks surrounding our daughter's wedding at Sonnenberg Gardens. The convenient location, a beautiful and serene setting with all water views, and the warm hospitality and personal attention from the property owners all offer a beginning to a wonderful family experience in this residence. It offers an abundance of bedrooms with high quality bedding, new and modern bathrooms, an open floor plan surrounding the beautiful kitchen, plenty of room for a large group to spread out, and the lovely porch for quiet time and reading. I don't think we could have matched all that this home had to offer our large family. Thank you to Chuck and Linda for what they have created on Island View Lane.

Perfection

This is the perfect destination for families that do not live in the same geographic area and want to spend time together but still have privacy. Amenities are great, the property is well maintained and the owner knows the meaning of "Customer Service".The local restaurants are excellent however cooking "at home" is delightful in the well appointed kitchen. Shopping for groceries and wine is easy and selections are excellent in this area. My family and I will return next year and have shared information with friends and business associates. This would lend itself to a great corporate retreat for a small group!

WOW! My family and I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving at this beautifully decorated and maintained lake front home on Canandaigua Lake and we were very impressed with all that it had to offer. With its large 2 story windows and cathedral ceilings, the rooms were very spacious, light, and airy. Whether sitting around the kitchen island, dining area, or family room, there was always a magnificent view of the lake and historic Squaw Island. All rooms were large and immaculate and offered every amenity one could imagine. The kitchen was well equipped and a delight to cook in with its Brazillian marble counters, large center island, and double oven. It was open to the familyroom which made it conducive to entertaining or being with family. There are 6 large bedrooms and 5 large bathrooms which allow for quiet and privacy. In my opinion this is the perfect lake home for families and friends to get away and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Canandaigua Lake.
