Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 5
One thing leads to another; the success of the antiques business keeps us returning frequently each year and led to the creation of our apartment on the left bank. Located in our favorite part of Paris, it is comfortable and filled with light, and it is furnished with things we love.
Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 5
25 years ago my wife and I renovated 3 townhouses in New Orleans’ French Quarter, creating the Soniat House Hotel. We traveled frequently to France to collect its antique furnishings. Fodor’s named it one of the 20 best hotels in the world and it’s included in ‘1000 Places to See Before You Die’. Because of the remarkable response to the furnishings, we opened our antiques Galleries twelve years ago and have now become a source for many of America’s best Interior Designers.

A charming apartment in a great location at an excellent price

I know that every apartment in Paris says that there is a charming market nearby and that you are only a few steps from someplace, but this rental is for real. For one thing, there are actually two markets nearby on Sunday and the rue mouffetard leading to one of them is a delight. The Place de la Contrescarpe below your windows is alive with actual Parisians enjoying themselves (though it is true that they enjoy themselves well into the wee hours on weekends). The apartment is spacious and well decorated with excellent light, a compact but extremely functional kitchen and the bedrooms and baths are well appointed. The apartment manager was there to greet us and took excellent care to explain not only all the features of the apartment but of the neighborhood as well. She stressed her availability in case of problems, of which we had no need. The owners have taken the time to provide wonderful information on restaurants, shops, etc. The fact that transfers to and from DeGaulle which are included in the price makes the stay not only very easy for someone coming across the Atlantic, it makes the price an absolute steal. My wife and I and the couple with whom we shared the week in Paris agreed that this was a wonderful rental.
Owner response:It was generous of John to take the time to share his party's experience. Our goal, always, is to make everything perfect, and we are thrilled to have it acknowledged.

We rented this apartment for the month of June and the apartment itself is very nice. We had a few problems initially with wi-fi, phone, laundry, etc. The owner tried to help but it took awhile to sort out and it was very inconvenient for us during that time. The apartment is in a great, central location but please know that it is a noisy neighborhood because of the restaurants and bars. The ambiance is fun & lively but if you are a light sleeper you might not be happy here as the noise goes until late in the night. The staircase up to the apartment is a nightmare and should be condemned but we were told “that is Paris!” All that being said we recommend the apartment and the location, and it is a wonderful place to call home while in Paris.
Owner response:Unfortunately, the wi-fi, phone and laundry were all not working when this lovely couple arrived. Everything that was wrong should have been corrected before their arrival. The apartment manager was totally negligent and has been replaced with a team that is caring, efficient and totally professional. I’m delighted that they had a wonderful stay despite the inconveniences!

Rodney & Frances, What a beautiful place you have in Paris! We love the apartment. We love the neighborhood. We love your recommendations - we ate at Coupe Chou, shopped at the Place Monge market, went to the Natural History museum in the Jardin des Plantes. We also enjoyed cafe creme at Delmas, cheeses from Veran, bread from la Parisienne and mint tea at the mosque. It was all so special! Thank you for letting us share in this special place.

My family and I were lucky enough to secure this apartment for 5 glorious nights in January 2009. Our party consisted of my wife and myself and 3 adult children. The apartment provided 2 x double beds and a sofa bed, so we all fitted in quite nicely. The ensuite is quite generous in size. Although the steep stairs to the apartment were initially daunting as my wife and i were quite sick with an illness picked up on a cruise, once inside the apartment we fell in love with it's charm. The view from the living room windows looking down to the square which was decorated with christmas lights was amazing. The location is brilliant, we walked to the Notre Dame in hardly any time at all, and the metro station was only a 5 or so minute walk. The tiny supermaket on the corner was stocked with everything we needed and there was a huge variety of cafes and restaurants if you did not want to cook for yourself. We are hoping to stay here again later this year. Do yourself a favour, and stay in this apartment.

Rodney, I just wanted to drop you a quick email to let you know that we very much enjoyed staying at your lovely apartment in Paris. What a great location and a lovely setting. We absolutely loved Place Des Cartes and Rue Moufftard. What a wonderful 2nd home you have created for yourselves. Lots of room and I loved being so close to two metro stops. Kim

We arrived almost two weeks ago to a delightful property in the 5th! It is a walk-up, and in a trendy neighborhood, so it is not for the light-hearted! Heated towel bars, lighted make-up mirrors, fresh flowers, a library of current travel guides...very clean and well appointed. A variety of pillows for your choosing.... The kitchen was ample for cooking/serving the four of us. We had plenty of lights for reading at night. We had our two adult children with us and they enjoyed partying in the historic neighborhood! Victor Hugo and Hemingway used to hang out here....you can feel the history as you watch the numerous tours stroll thru the streets. There are two great markets for shopping and there are also two metro stops within a 5 minute walk. W/D makes it convenient for packing lightly...a great location!
