Keywords:  Log Cabin Home near Ski HIll - Hot Tub, WiFi

Beautifully situated log home tucked among the pines on its own mountainous 26 acres 25 miles outside of Bozeman, Montana and 30 miles away from Livingston.

A cozy yet commodious ski chalet, hunters lodge, hiking base, summer writing and reflecting retreat, or fly fishing cabin. Mule deer, white tail, elk, raccoon, and moose are routinely sighted on the property. Bracket Creek, a shallow trout stream with browns and cutthroat and rainbow, meanders through the property.

A one mile driveway leads up from Skunk Creek Road to the house, nestled in a protected draw of the heart of Bridger Canyon, with views of the Crazies and the Bridgers all around. Four-wheel drive is a must in the winter!

Just 15 minutes away is Bridger Bowl, a fabulous family-style ski area that also guards the secret of one of the most challenging expert powder ridges in the west. 90 minutes away is the more well-known Big Sky Ski Resort. Equidistant is Yellowstone National Park, one of the nation's greatest summer attractions but one which is open, as beautiful and far less crowded in the winter season as well.

And the summer in the Bozeman area offers rodeos, arts, music, and dance festivals as well as wide open main streets of some of the most charming and genuinely friendly small Western towns you'd find anywhere.

This Non-Smoking, Log Home features three living levels, all with spectacular mountain and nature views. A light and very comfortable interior including three bedrooms, two baths, plus a pull-out sofabed upstairs in the loft. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with a working antique gas stove, plus all modern built-in appliances such as microwave and dishwasher.

The main floor bath has an oversize antique clawfoot tub, and there is a full upright grand piano in the parlor. Large sliding glass doors welcome you out onto the 1500 square foot of exterior redwood deck and up the landscaped walkway to your private six-person hot tub, where you can enjoy the countless stars of the Milky Way on a cool spring or autumn night, or the gentle snowfall of a crisp night of winter after a full day of skiing.

So come to Bozeman, Montana... Heart of the Last Best Place!

August in the Mountains

What a wonderful setting to relax in, as well as enjoy nature's beauty. Many great day excursions had, while returning to a home away from home. Nice to be able to make meals and sit around a nice big table at the end of the day. The hummingbirds couldn't get enough at the feeder, so sweet! Katherine went above and beyond to make our stay special. Thanks from Might Magic Mommy!

Pros-I loved this beautiful property. The home was cozy and we loved that we could bring our dog. We enjoyed entertaining family & friends who drove up to visit us. The hot tub and the decks gave gorgeous views of the night sky for stargazing & we saw amazing shooting stars! The daily visit of the baby bunny was fun! And we saw a mama doe with her fawn at the end of the driveway. Every morning we woke up to the sunrise filling the house. Great deck for sitting with a cup of coffee in the morning and having a slow start to the day. Considerations-the gravel drive is not for the faint of heart. The stairs of the home are very steep, was not good for my aged parents with bad knees/backs. The bedrooms are the loft or basement level. All the living space is on the 1st floor. Wouldn't call it handicap accessible, as the property is on a slope.

Summer Fun in Bozeman

Guest: Jen (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 07/15/11 Review Submitted: 08/04/11

Our time at Rancho Picante was fantastic. The listing was completely accurate. There were no unwanted surprises. The house and land are stunning. It was difficult for us to leave the property while we were there. We had to force ourselves to go elsewhere because it was peaceful and inspiring to be there. All of the questions we might have had were explained in a notebook. We are going to recommend this to other people but, more importantly, we will return! This is a great place at a reasonable price.

Montana vacation

Guest: Jeannie (Huntington Ar)
Date of Stay: 06/13/11 Review Submitted: 08/03/11

This place is beautiful. Very remote and quiet. Exactly what we were hoping for. A few tips...be sure and bring your grocerys with you. Although its not very far to the nearest town its a very steep driveway and if its been raining can be full of potholes making driving time slow. Otherwise the scenery is like a story book and everything you need is there. We grilled on the deck and visited with the neighbors who train thier animals for films..we even played a few tunes on the piano. I can see why people love Montana. Thank you Katherine for sharing your place with us. Arkansas travelers

The quality of Rancho Picante is something you cannot put into words. My family and I stayed for a week and it was an experience to remember! Fun for all ages, we saw a variety of animals and we weren't at all far from Yellowstone, rafting, and horseback riding. Clyde park is also a cute city with the most friendly people you will ever meet. I felt like crying when I left because I wish that it were my house and I could stay there! It made me want to live in Montana.

We had a WONDERFUL three days at RAncho Picante! It was everything that we expected and more. What a fabulously private, idyllic setting in which to relax with our out-of-town guests. And they got to experience Montana's weather from warm-and-sunny to cold-and-snowy, all in one trip! We will definitely be returning soon...

Rancho Picante is absolutely breathtaking! We had such a fabulous time in Montana and returned from day trips to a warm, inviting, and well-equipped home. We are already planning our next trip and know where we'll be staying - Rancho Picante!
