We parked our car at the garage next to the apartment building and didn’t need it again until we went home. Just outside the front door is a subway that will take you anywhere you want to go. We visited Battery Park, The Freedom Tower, China Town, Little Italy, Times Square, and rode it home from West Central Park for just a few dollars each time. We had Broadway show tickets, and it only took 20 minutes to walk to the theater district where we had dinner before the show. Fifth Avenue is a block away and a great place to stroll for the NYC shopping experience. Start at FAO Schwarz, and work your way down to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and 30 Rock. A 5-minute walk from apartment is Central Park. My wife and I would get up early, get a coffee from the nearby Starbucks, and stroll around Central Park while our boys slept in. Very near the Starbucks is a fine cigar store that features Davidoff’s. You can enjoy a smoke inside while conversing with the friendly locals. The photos are very accurate with the exception of the terrace. The terrace is actually larger than it appears in the photos, and the views of the street from almost 20 stories up are spectacular, especially at dusk when things begin to “light up”. Cathy is a great resource before your trip. She is very responsive through email and will give you tips that only a native New Yorker would know. She welcomes you to her home and city as if you are a member of her family. Thanks you so much, Cathy! We will ask to come back in the future. The apartment staff and full-time residents were very friendly, especially to us Midwesterners who know very little about the big city. Remember when you stay here to be respectful of the neighbors. You may be on vacation, but they may need to go to work or school in the morning. If you are looking for a place to party late, loud, and hard, this is not a place for you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful days in this beautiful apartment. Lovely building and so close to absolutely everything. My huband grew up in New York City and he commented that this was the apartment he had always dreamed of owning. The description was accurate as were the photos. Having a second half-bath was very convenient. Everything was very clean. The owner was extremely helpful, pleasant and accommodating. We would highly recommend this listing and hope to have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We were in town (from San Francisco) for the New Yorker Festival and had such a wonderful time at this apartment. It was so satisfying to have a "real home" to come back to at the end of the day or at mid-day to o stop by and freshen up between New Yorker events. Not only is your apartment in an amazing location but it has such a warm and comfortable feel to it that it was the ideal combination for a place to stay.Lots of great restaurants nearby for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We loved having Mangia just two doors down from your building, and Astro diner a few minutes away. We also loved the doormen/concierges - they were so nice and helpful!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This was our first stay in NYC and it was a perfect choice. Cathy was great from the first e-mail exchange! Any questions we had she answered and made sure the apt was all set up for us when we arrived. The apt. is located 2 blocks from Central Park and within walking distance of Times Square & Rockefeller Center. We loved taking strolls through Central Park. Subway access is located just around the corner and will have you anywhere in Manhattan in no time. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough to fully enjoy the terrace while we were there. But I did manage to brave the temps and take a few pictures. The view is amazing! It doesn't matter which direction you go after walking out of the apt you will come across anything you are looking for, we loved that about the location. I can't thank Cathy enough for her hospitality and allowing us to have such a great place to stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Staying here made our first trip to NY even more special. The amount of space, location and amenities were fantastic. Cathy, a true New Yorker, made sure we had everything we needed and told us everything we needed to know. My only tip...grab your basics (bread, milk, water, snacks etc...) from the numerous drug stores on the corner and THEN grab the extras and special treats at E Kleins. We could have spent out entire budget shopping for luxury foods there! Saying that...groceries, Starbucks, The Subway and great places to eat are literally only steps away and the rest of Manhattan is only minutes away by foot. Thank you again Cathy. This was our first VRBO holiday and it won't be the last!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/3

Truely a cozy home in the most convienient part of Manhattan, so much within a one block radius. It was important to me to have an oasis to return to after roaming the city. Biggest perk was the huge patio and fabulous views. Really loved this gorgeous apt. and the owner was a great resource! Can't wait to return! For the cost of a shoebox hotel room you can stay in what feels like your best girlfriends apt. Beautiful classic building and all the amenities you could ask for!Did you find this review helpful? Awesome apartment and location! Our first visit to NYC and we could not have asked for more. Very spacious and comfortable apartment with wonderful views from the terrace. We loved being able to either walk or use the subway station just outside of the building to get around. Never needed a cab! Owner- Cathy was terrific about answering our questions and providing recommendations for places to eat and visit. We look forward to our return visit to NYC and staying in this great apartment.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

About the owner: Love Manhattan and take advantage of all it has to offer. Running in Central Park daily, going to theatre and having wonderful dinner parties on my terrace. A born New YOrker, so I've got all the tips to get around this vast and beautiful City.
Why the Owner Chose Midtown:
If you like theatre and the beauty of the Central Park, browsing in the best department stores in the city, Carnegie Hall and fine dining, my apartment is the place for you. I like being right in the center of town, with the breath of fresh air of having a terrace (huge!) and the park right next door.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Walk to theatre, how about that? Have the most convenient subways right here. And 24 hour amenities in the area. A Starbucks in the building too! A short walk to Times Square without all the noise and commotion. An exclusive neighborhood, shared with the Plaza, Parker Meridien, and the Essex House.
