Some friends and I decided on a last minute getaway for the May bank holiday weekend. Killarney was the perfect choice and this was the perfect holiday home. The location is great. It's in a nice, quiet area, near the Killarney National Park and close to town. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed. It felt like home. The owner, John, is very kind and welcoming. There was a bottle of wine, fresh fruit, milk, and bread there for us. Thank you John for accommodating us last minute and for the hospitality. We had a lovely time in Kerry.
Owner response:Thank you Kristy for your wonderfull review and delighted you had a wonderfull weekend with your friends and everything in the house was up to your expectations.I was amazed at the amount of things you got to see and do in such a short time and you enjoyed your visit to Dingle and Slea Head and also Muckross House and Killarney National Park. Best regards John.

Since we weren't renting a car we looked for a suitable place to stay that was both close to town and away from the traffic and noise. This turned out to be perfect. It's a 10-15 minute walk into town on Ross Road or a 20-25 minute walk through the National Park which takes you across from St. Mary's Cathedral. The home is in a quiet, small neighborhood and is well appointed and very well taken care of. John met us, showed us around the house then took us on a short tour of the Killarney area pointing out pubs, restaurants, markets, etc. He really goes out of his way to help and make you feel welcome. Fresh fruit, bread, wine, milk and basics are provided to get you going. We spent two weeks in the Killarney area and never ran out of sights to see, trails to walk and bike on or tours to take. Just a wonderful and peaceful place to stay with a terrific host.
Owner response:Thank you Michael for most kind comments and I am delighted you and your wife had a relaxing two weeks holiday at our property and you got to see everything locally by foot and bicycle and also day tours to the Ring of Kerry and Dingle. Best regards to you both. John

In August 2010, my wife and I plus her sisters and their spouses did a road tour of Southern Ireland for 8 days. I enjoyed myself so much that I convinced my wife (it wasn’t difficult, she being of Irish descent) to return to Ireland this year to stay at one location for 2 weeks to experience the flavors of the Irish life style. I searched through the VRBO website for a reasonably priced home to rent and came across this wonderful vacation home. What made me decide to select his property was the weekly rate, the plethora of good things to do, the accommodations, the home’s location in relationship to the town center and most important of all, were the guest reviews. The reviews were so convincing, we had to see for ourselves. YES, IT WAS EVERYTHING THAT WAS MENTIONED IN THE GUEST REVIEWS! There’s very little we could add to say about the home, the location, the Irish experience and especially John and his staff that hasn’t been said in the reviews. John was very personable, friendly and accommodating to our needs. It was our pleasure meeting him. The home was warm, inviting and had all the conveniences of home. The front and back yards were well maintained with plenty of room for kids to play. Killarney’s town center was full of restaurants that could satisfy any discriminating taste buds, bars, quaint shops and stores. The streets were alive with local people and people from different parts of the world. The executive golf course across the street was convenient for a quick round of golf. In fact, we shot 9 holes, went home for lunch and went back for another 9 holes. There were plenty of golf courses around County Kerry. Be advised some courses offer “Open Day” with discounted rates, so I recommend to call them. Points of interest and parks were also minutes away with the exception of the Ring of Kerry. The Ring of Kerry is a half day's drive along the Irish coastal ring route and a national natural treasure. It’s a big “YES” again that we would return to this great vacation home, the town of Killarney and would recommend it to family, friends and anyone reading about this VRBO home.
Owner response:Thank you Don & Susan for your very kind remarks and I am very happy that everything in the house was up to your expectations and because of the lenth of your stay you got to see quite a varied amount of sights and still had time to play golf. Best regards and look forward to welcoming you back. John.

We recently stayed at this property for one week. We had an absolutely wonderful time! The owner, John, was extremely helpful and very welcoming. The home looks exactly like what you see on the website. It is within walking distance to the center of town and to Ross Castle. We fell in love with Killarney. There are so many things to see nearby such as the castle, the Muckross House, and the falls. We also played golf, which is half a block away and went horseback riding which was about 10 minutes away. This location was a great home base for us and we took day trips to the Ring of Kerry, Dingle Pennisula and Blarney Castle. We rented bikes in town, which we used to see the beautiful National Park and we rode them into town to the grocery store which was very convenient. I would higly recommend this house and the location.

We have been to Ireland and Killarney many times; however this was our first experience with a self-catering rental. This house has it all, convenient location, quite neighborhood, comfortable beds and a welcoming feeling. The house is spacious and the photos are very accurate. What you see is what you get. We were delighted with the fully equipped very clean kitchen, the lovely dinnerware and the beautifully decorated house in general. Our teenage granddaughter was happy with the wifi access in order to keep in touch with friends back home. We even got to sit and chat with the owner, John King. There is no doubt that on our next visit to Killarney, we will stay again at this lovely house.

I have been to Ireland on many occasions but I decided to rent a house this time. I found this property in Killareny and my guests and I spent the week. The house were was all I could have hoped for and more. The location to town was perfect and it was very easy to get in and out of town from this property. We did day trips to Dingle, Cork, the Ring of Kerry and more and staying at this house in Killarney was perfect. John, the owner, was so kind to us and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. He showed us places we would need to get to while were were there and left some wonderful treats for us in the house to welcome us. I would highly recommend this property (and the owner) to anyone who wishes to have a wonderful experience in Killarney Ireland. Thank you, John, for your house, your kindness, and for making this trip one I will always remember. You and your rental property made it perfect.
Owner response:Thank you Lynn for your fulsome recommendation, I am delighted you and your family enjoyed your stay at our house and the information and direction were of use to you and it was a good base for you for your daily expeditions and proximity to town centre.

This is a great location to see this part of Ireland. Plus the apartment is situated nicely within Killarney. A large Tessco supermarket is close and Ross Castle is a few blocks away. We stayed 5 nights and it turned out to be perfect for what we wanted to visit. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. Upon arrival we were given a bottle of wine which helped calm the nerves after negotiating narrow high speed roads on the left (wrong) side of the street and shifting a 6 speed while sitting on the right (wrong) side of the car. The owner provided pertinent information and took care of all of our needs. We didn't need it, but there was plenty of room for 6+ people. The dining area looked out onto a nicely kept yard in a very quiet neighborhood. The only complaint I have is that one or two more cooking pans/skillets would have helped and the cutting knives were more like saws than knives. Perhaps a few more starter items such as sugar and some additional spices would be a nice touch. This really is minor. I'm just always a bit suspicious of reviews that portray absolute perfection. Besides, we were graciously provided "briquettes" and coal to use in the fireplace which gave us a very nice warm start. I’m sure other places would charge extra. You can't go wrong with this home, location.
Owner response:Thank you Bob for your review and I am very happy you enjoyed your stay at our property and will certainly take on board your suggestions.

My family and I couldn't have had a more wonderful stay! The owner of the house was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. We traveled with a one year old and three year old and the house was perfect for us with a great yard for the kid's to play in. One of the many great perks of the house was that it was walking distance to the town center. Stop your looking for a rental now and go with this one!!
Owner response:Thank you Alicia for your warm and gracious review and I am delighted your family enjoyed your stay in our property at Ross Castle Grove in Killarney and the children enjoyed there visit to the Pet farm. Regards John

It was a pleasure to stay at this house in Killarney. The owner was a gracious and helpful host who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The house was comfortable, clean and well maintained. All of us especially enjoyed the newly installed wi-fi. The location was perfect, within walking distance to town, Ross Castle, and Killarney National Park. The town of Killarney serves as a nice home base, being a good, central location for easy day trips to see the many sights and attractions of Ireland. The house is lovely and comfortable, with all modern conveniences, and the location is ideal, whether you are visiting Killarney itself or doing trips to surrounding sights such as the Ring of Kerry or Dingle. This house couldn't have been better, both in location and comfort! The kitchen had all the comforts of home and even included a large refrigerator and washer and dryer! The house had been recently updated and was very clean and comfortable. I loved the fact that it is in a quiet area away from traffic but so close to Killarney town and Ross castle. It is surrounded by National Park and a great area for walking either in the park or into town. You can book your tours to Dingle, Ring of Kerry and Gap of Dunloe just down the street and Killarney town has great shopping and restaurants! Definitely would return to this location! Owner John King was so helpful answering questions and even took us to see where the grocery store was located. This is a house and location I would highly recommend!
Owner response:Hello Carol, Thank you for your wonderfull review and I am delighted you enjoyed your stay at Ross Castle Grove Holiday Home and the surrounding area and the walks in the the adjoining National Park and Ross Castle and the Copper Mines. Regards to all and look forward to a return trip at some time in the future. John

I recently visited Ireland with my husband and 3 children, ages 10, 5, 4. This house was fabulous. From the amenities, location, and warm caring landlord, it was a perfect spot. Great location near the central town, yet quiet enough to relax and enjoy. Near National Park, Muckross, Ross Castle. Spotless and comfortable. Our host left a basket of fruit and nice French wine on our welcome. If you're American, the small hot water tank takes a little getting used to, but exemplifies the lack of waste our European colleagues engender. The owner supports recycling and I was very impressed, so much so that I am going to set up the same recycling and composting system here at home! Rose, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Owner response:Hi Rose & Family, Thank you for your nice review on our house and I am very happy you and the family had a an enjoyable stay with us and you got to see quite a bit of the country side around Killarney. Thank you for your efforts with the recycling which was much appreciated and best of luck with your efforts at home. Looking forward to meeting you at some stage in the future. We just got back from a wonderful week at this property. It really exceeded expectations in every way. The house itself was beautifully and tastefully furnished and impeccably clean. The large kitchen was completely updated and had a very nice seating area with French doors looking out to the lovely backyard. The bathrooms also had been recently updated to a very high standard. The property is situated in a very quiet residential area and is walking distance to the beautiful National Park and to the town center. John, the owner, is extremely helpful and welcoming. He really takes the time to talk with guests and answer all questions. I cannot say enough good things about our stay - we cannot wait to go back! Thank you, John.

This 3 bedroom house is very conveniently located on the outskirts of the town of Killarney. The home is very comfortable and immaculately clean and well maintained! John, the owner, was incredibly helpful--he met us when we arrived in town, showed us the local grocery store, and gave us a thorough walk-through of the house and all its amenities. Downstairs, there is a modern kitchen with cookware and table settings, range and oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. There is also a dining room, living room with TV, bedroom with bathroom, and the laundry. Upstairs includes two more bedrooms and one bathroom. All linens were provided. I recommend you bring electrical adapters if you are not from the UK (for charging cell phones and such). This location served as an excellent "base" for us as we took in several nice drives around the area, including Killarney National Park, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle peninsula, and Cork. Bring your rain gear and umbrellas, because I think it rained every day we were there! But that didn't hamper our vacation, it's just part of the experience :) If you don't have a rental car, it's about a 10-minute walk into Killarney. (We had a car, so we drove into town--be forewarned, parking can be tough during the high tourist season!) There are only two minor drawbacks I can think of for this house: First, it is a duplex--we were a bit worried about our kids making too much noise for the people staying next door. We never heard anything from them, noise or complaints, so perhaps we were being too cautious. Second, it does not have internet access (yet). There are places in town that you can get access though, sometimes for a small fee. Besides these two very minor things, everything was fantastic with our stay here. I would be very happy to recommend this house to any friends and family looking to visit Ireland. Thanks John!
Owner response:Hi Mj & Family, Thank you for your wonderfull and detailed review of our house and I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and you got to see all the local sights and experience Muckross House and Gardens and the 11,000 acre Killarney National Park which comes right up to the boundary fence. It was pretty handy that you flew into Kerry Airport from Frankfurt Hahn on Ryan Air especially with the children as the flight is only a little over an hour and we are only 15 km from the Kerry Airport and now we have a new flight from Dusseldorf-Weeze along with Stansrtead, Luton, Manchester, Alicante and Faro and Dublin. Thank you for your recommendation and look forward to meeting you again . Regards John

It was even better because this house has been entirely updated. We will come again and recommend this house to anyone who asks where to stay in Killarney. John King was very helpful.

My golf group stayed at this condo/cottage in June for one week. Mr. King and his staff were most helpful in putting the visit together and worked with me in fitting the stay to our dates in SW Ireland. The condo was clean, comfortable and quiet. Everything worked like a charm and the modern appliances (including small washer and dryer) were an added bonus. I plan on suggesting Mr. King and his company to other visitors. Be assured, i you are thinking of visiting the Killarney area, this is the place to stay.
Owner response:Thank you Mr Matthews for your kind remarks about our property and I am happy you found everything in the house to your satisfaction. The weather was excellent for your trip and you got to play all the courses like Ballybunion, Tralee, Dingle, Waterville and Killarney which is home to the Irish Open on the 29th July to 1st August 2010. With 22 Golf courses within a two hour drive of the house and also Old Head Kinsale, Lahinch and Doonbeg County Clare also within reach for a days golf and all the pubs and restaurants are within walking distance of the house. We would be more than happy to assist any of your friends with any information they might require in planning their trip.

My wife and I together with my 40 year old son, his wife and mother-in-law stayed here for a week in June 2010. The accomodation is modern, scrupiously maintained, super-clean and well worth the money! Downstairs there is an ensuite bedroom, a nice sized kitchen dining room and a sitting room with TV and stereo. There is a deck leading off the dining room and a large lawned garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a full bathroom and a box room. The size of the place is more than adequate for the 5 of us. John King, the owner, was very helpful and friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Killarney, where there is lots to do and see (particularily the restaurants and pubs) is no more than a 15minute stroll or 10 minutes by jaunting car. Local beauty spots abound and their is hiking, fishing and golf readily available. The photos and property description are accurate. We had a great holiday at a great place with a great landlord. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Owner response:Thank you Richard and family for your fullsome review and recommendation ,I am delighted you all had a wonderfull stay in our house and everything in it was to your satisfaction and you got to see all the local sights including Killarney National Park, Muckross House,Torc Waterfall, Ross Castle, The Ring of Kerry and Dingle and you experienced what the Pubs and Restraunts had to offer in Killarney. It was great that you and your son got to use it as a base also for your daily golf outings to Tralee, Ballybunion, Dooks, Killorglin and Killarney and you could not have asked for more fantastic weather which I know you are use to in Barbados.

My wife, adult daughter and I spent a week at Ross Castle Grove in Killarney in September 2009. In spite of a fair bit of rain we had a most enjoyable time. The house was very well equipped, exceptionally clean and comfortable. We couldn't ask for more. Our host, John, was most helpful and attentive without being 'under foot'. The location is very quiet yet still within walking distance of the town centre - about 30 minutes away. Killarney is ideally located for visits to Muckross House, the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Penninsula. When and if we return to Killarney, this will be our choice of accommodation. We spent 6 nights in Killarney in mid February and found it to be the best accommodation we have come across in all our travels. It is the perfect place to stay – very cozy and spotlessly clean. Close enough to the city centre to walk yet in a tranquil setting facing the National Park. It was very easy to reach all the area sites. We truly relaxed when we returned each evening after day trips out. We would recommend this property without hesitation.

Superb accomodation, the owner was extremely helpful. Information at booking and help with pre-booking was fantastic, we requested a Sunday to Sunday to stay to fit in with family events and the owner was most accomodating. Property was of a very high standard and extremely well equipped in a wonderful location, quiet yet only 10-15min walk into Killarney town centre, it was ideal. Our young children had a wonderful time playing in the large back garden, which was safe and secure, and also the large communal green opposite. The property is located in an area where there is a wealth of attractions, superb walking, castles, crazy golf to name but a few which were all within half an hour drive. We would certainly stay here again when we next find ourselves in the area. Many thanks
Owner response:Thank you Susan and family for your extremely complimentary review.
