It's been cold and rainy most of the week, and still loving it! The house is perfect and we never tired of the view. The whales are not cooperating, but the seals and starfish sure are. The weather did not cooperate for most of the week but we were warned to prepare for rainy days and that's exactly what we did and had a blast exploring in the rain. A hot bowl of chowder (in search of the perfect recipe) quickly warmed us back up at the end of the day as well as the hot tub and it's beautiful view. I love the passion of the stormy seas and watched the waves crashing from the house every night. The sound was the last thing I heard at night and the first in the morning. The beach right in front of the house is perfect for exploring and the seals were fun to watch! Thank you Debi for answering so many of my questions in advance of our trip as it helped us prepare. The house is very comfortable and the kids loved going through the movie selection. We can't wait to come back!

I can start by saying "we don't want to leave this wonderful place." The Gullhouse has such a quiet peacefulness that you can't help but relax and savor your time here. Hot tub in the rain, sit and laugh over cocktails and just relax. Our time here was special and will not be forgotten. The roar of the ocean keeps everything quiet!

It was awesome not having to leave the house to watch the ocean; what a priceless view! We too enjoyed the hot tub, playing games and watching movies. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the Yaquina Lighthouse and saw lots of seals there. We even took a little swim in the ocean!

We really enjoyed the house, the hot tub and the view! Your movie selection is awesome. We had fun going to Old Town Newport and the museums and hanging out in the hot tub looking at the moon and the stars. We cooked up some yummy stuffed mushrooms, crab cream cheese puffs and steamer clams. Great weekend for movie watching and hanging out with friends. So glad we came down here. This was an awesome 29th birthday. Hope to come back again. Also wish we had a king sized bed at home. The robes are a welcoming touch.

We rented the Gullhouse through Airbnb.com and had a WONDERFUL time! The house was so cozy, the view OUTSTANDING, and the hot tub HOT! We went climbing on rocks, explored tide pools, and even rented wet-suits since the water was still warm! The house was equipped with everything you could need. LOVED the bathrobes!

Awesome. Just Awesome. My sister and I have had the best weekend. Gullhouse has everything you could need! The view is beyond words as is hearing the surf hit the beach. Going down to the beach at low tide is a must to see the tide pools! The hot tub at sunset -- BLISS! Staying here is good medicine.

We've very much enjoyed our few days here, watching the waves, sunsets and (last night) seals. Our favorite day was going to Yachats and the Little Log Church (there's a beautiful Victorian crazy patchwork quilt there), then on to Cape Perpetua with it's views, Devil's Churn and blow hole. Lots of photos. Now we're off inland to see what Oregon has to offer along the Cascade Mountains.

The beach brought our "pirate souls" to life - the hot tub at sunset was our Margaritaville - sleeping with the seagulls and the feel of salt air was amazing! Footnote: S family's official "Lighthouse Count" including the books in the Gullhouse was 171 - recount may be necessary - we were wine tasting and counting at the same time. "The Stars are Like Christmas" The Quietness is like Heaven." Olen and I (the parents) also got to enjoy your very comfy home and the spectacular view of the ocean and listening to the waves in the quiet of the night. I loved the comfortable bed, down pillow and comforter. The Driftwood King enjoyed his stay - and is now leaving the building. He leaves you a sea cairn he personally makes - hang and enjoy the beauty of his humble/peaceful people. Treat my people well -they bring good luck!

We had a wonderful time doing not much of anything. the house and the view are too good to leave. This was my most pleasant interaction with the ocean -- just watch it (and the seals!), walk on the beach occasionally, and retire to a warm comfortable vantage point. Blackberries are ripe!!

My family the past 10 years has made the Oregon Coast our vacation spot. After years of bumpy beds and not so sweet bathrooms ... we have found the Gullhouse :) This view, the private location, and the whole house full of comfort like home was truly awesome! In our first 30 minutes we saw 10 seals ... 1 whale and several birds all from the deck! the weather was our friend all 4 days, we had wonderful mornings searching tide pools at Seal Rock and amazing afternoons - early evening at Lost Beach down the road only 4 minutes! We even saw a human mermaid doing a photo shoot on the rocks at low tide, said she left a 3 yr old daughter unattended on the beach but I stayed to keep an eye on her from a short distance! The ocean is swift - young mothers don't leave your precious gifts like that alone!!! The hot tub and movies ended the days, as every morn that view awaited. Thank you for a great place, it's awesome here.

Then I found your bottle of solution (YAY!) and took your paper cups and put them in. Next morning I was hoping they didn't dry out...and then my mom walked out and said she found my contact stuff! We loved staying here during our 33rd anniversary trip! You're so lucky to have found such a place to share with others. We had a great time hiking Cape Perpetua trails through the wildflowers to the stone shelter, getting great recipe ideas for the oysters we bought at Oregon Oyster Farms, clambering over the tide pools, and looking for satellites while soaking in the hot tub after sunset. We had such perfect weather too, we almost had a "green flash" sunset last night. The clouds were so far out on the horizon, we couldn't see them until the sun fell behind them. We'll have to make this an annual anniversary stay. Thank you sooo much! BTW - we also saw a resident gray whale in the cove while we were have a great dinner at Tidal Raves!

It rained 2 out of 4 days here but we had a blast! The hot tub is awesome and the house feels like home. We went to the beach every day (via the cool hidden trail) and collected all sorts of shells and rocks. We spied on the seals every day, too. We will certainly be back. The surprise birthday weekend was great! We were thrilled with the view and the privacy! What a wonderful home you have ... thank you for sharing. We played in the tidepools and watched the seals. We even saw some dolphins! I've never seen so many starfish. We had fresh (and yummy) seafood everyday and got good restorative sleep. So many things to do here! We love it and plan to make this one of our "get aways". The hot tub is awesome!

My son, his wife, my husband and I recently stayed at the Gullhouse--what a treat! Deb and Rob were a pleasure to work with. They gave suggestions for things to do en route from Portland, as well as suggestions for activities near the house. The view of the ocean is absolutely amazing!--and the view can be seen from the deck, hot tub, both living areas, and one of the bedrooms. The deck is very large with very comfortable chairs to seat at least 8 people. There is a skylight in the living room and bath, which make the home bright and cheery. The cabinets were stocked with spices, paper goods--anything you think you might need. The bathroom closets were well-stocked too; there were plenty of books, games, and movies available Everything was very clean; beds and furniture super comfortable. If you like privacy, this is the place for you. We did not see any of the neighbors while we were there. I can't say enough about this house and the owners.

Made our honeymoon!

My husband and I just recently got married on Driftwood Beach in Seal Rock, just a few minutes from this house. The view is absolutely breathtaking, pictures don't do it justice. We were able to cook all of our meals in the kitchen which is well-stocked and had everything we needed. The hot tub is incredible. Beds are comfortable. The place is super clean. It just exceeded our expectations in every way. We look forward to coming back every year to celebrate our anniversary. The owner was fantastic to do business with and I'd recommend this house hands down to anyone looking for a private retreat with a million dollar view.

Beautiful, private getaway!

We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at Gull House celebrating our 25th anniversary -- it was very private, the hot tub was fantastic, and the view was beautiful! There is a private path leading from the house down to highway 101 where you can cross over to Seal Rock beach. We saw seals there almost every morning at low tide, and the tide pools are full of life and just beautiful. Seal Rock is a quiet, nice spot where you are within easy driving distance to so many scenic spots along the coast, as well as inland. Depoe Bay has some great whale watching, we would recommend Carrie at Ecoexcursions. She researches the gray whales and takes you out in a zodiac, which is a lot of fun! While you are there, try the great food at Tidal Raves. Also, Newport has a nice aquarium and a really good seafood restaurant called Sharks, (by the bay). Deb could not have been nicer; she made it easy to set everything up and was available by phone if we needed anything. She also gives you a great information sheet before you come with directions and lots of good recommendations about the area. The house is well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, as well as toiletry items and paper products in the bathroom. The house is very clean and the beds are really comfortable. The binoculars and telescope in the living room are great for checking out the wildlife on the beach and in the water. We didn't see any whales at the house while we were there but spotted some from one of the Capes we visited, as well as in Depoe Bay, and of course, on the whale watching tour! Thanks Deb and Rob for sharing your cozy hideaway with us, we loved it and hope to return someday!

"Memento Vivere." Remember to Live This is our second time here and it won't be our last. We just saw the best sunset we have ever seen before. We have traveled all over the world - we really have, but this Friday evening was truly eventful. It actually lasted several hours and the color got darker and richer. We have seen sunsets/rises in Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Tahiti, Australia, Key West, Kenya. This Friday night surpassed them. This trip is part of an annual tradition (bday) with my twin sister and daughter. She gives us clues for weeks before the trip and we landed her first. It is our 56th birthday. This house is so wonderful, I'm in awe of the decor! From the starfish pillows to the shower curtain, etc...we are getting tattoo's today at "Crossover Tattoo's" in Newport and the adventure continues...this home made it with its energy and comfort. Oh, what a wonderful week it has been! We had some sunny days and a few filled with drizzle. We soaked in the hot tub, ate like hogs and visited the seals. Went south to the Devil's Churn, then back north for lunch in Lincoln City. Expanded a few pant sizes at Dano's in Waldport. But mostly just enjoyed the company of each other among the most beautiful view we could ask for. It has been a fantastic honeymoon, and we can't thank you enough!

A week in Seal Rock in late September was a great experience. A wonderful remote location, and easy to get to the local sites. Try to plan for the Tide pools (right across the road), it was an experience that I have not been able to describe to friends adequately. The owners were very helpful with our planning, and remedied any problems that arose. The Hot tub was not cooperating, but they had it fixed and maintained immediately…because yes the Hot Tub was awesome! Thank you, all the way from the East Coast, PA.

Thank you for sharing. The house is great and the views gorgeous. What's not to love. The sound of surf to fall asleep and wake up to. Walks on the beach and tide pools. Candlelight and wine dinner on the deck. Chocolate dipped fruit and more wine. Romantic music and a sunset hot tub. Watching the changing tides and fishing boats at sea. Evil brownies and did I mention the hot tub? This was our 20th anniversary and we couldn't have made a better choice for a memorable occasion. Very comfortable. We burned a double cd of romance music for others to enjoy. Hope to return i the future to relive and add to these moments.

We enjoyed our time here so much! Watching whales from the hot tub 'sneaking' through the secret pathway to the beach, eating dinner on the porch while we watched the sunset...could not have asked for a better spot for our honeymoon.
