Sparkling turquoise seas, the verdant northern coastline, dazzling sunrises, tropical flowers and lush vegetation welcome you to Cabarita Lookout. Relax by the sparkling pool, enjoy a massage by Racquel, our in-house masseuse, dine under the stars and step into a new way to vacation. Escape the hustle and bustle of super clubs and tourism and enjoy your new 'home away from home' in Jamaica. Our villa was completed four years ago on the historic Wentworth estate, an estate filled with banana, orange, lime, mango and papaya trees. Rumored to be the illustrious Captain Henry Morgan's lookout and sitting adjacent to playwright Noel Coward's dramatic estate 'Firefly,' Cabarita Lookout has one of the most beautiful and expansive views in all of Jamaica. Elegant yet cozy, we want our home to be your 'home away from home.'

On your arrival at Montego Bay Airport, you'll be greeted by Cutty, your driver, butler and new 'best friend.' Cutty has a wealth of knowledge about Jamaica and will be happy to share the lore of his land as he drives you to Cabarita Lookout. On arrival you'll be greeted with a rum punch by Sharon, both a fabulous cook and meticulous housekeeper. Cool sea breezes and breathtaking views will erase any memories of work or travel.

Cabarita Lookout is located in close proximity to James Bond Beach, Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove and Fern Gully. For the more adventuresome, try rafting the Rio Grande, boating to Black Sands Beach and hiking to the amazing Tacky Waterfall and freshwater lake, exploring Cockpit Country or deep sea fishing with local fishermen. Or just kick back and relax around our new 32'x14' pool and be catered to by Cutty, Sharon and Racquel. Early mornings join Cutty as he goes down to the beach to pick up the 'catch of the day' from local fishermen. Sharon's cuisine ranges from local to international. You are free to design your own menu.

Cabarita Lookout comfortably sleeps three families or three couples with extra beds available. The van and driver are available from 7 am to 9 pm during your stay. Whether you are looking for an active family vacation loaded with activities for you and your kids or just a quiet private getaway with friends, Cabarita Lookout promises memories you'll treasure forever.

Thinking of a romantic Caribbean wedding? While Cabarita Lookout is just 4 years old, we have hosted a number of weddings and a rehearsal dinner. I hope you’ll agree, the results were stunning. We have a wedding planner on staff, Verlie Carty, who has a fabulous Jamaican nursery filled with gorgeous tropical flowers. Our planner is also a talented maker of cakes and event coordinator. The weddings all included the ceremony with pastor, fabulous meal of lobster, Mahi Mahi and chicken, and dancing under the stars - and for under $100/per person - a modest price according to current American standards. And the wedding parties have been thrilled with the entire affair! If it is an elegant, romantic and private wedding you’re looking for, Cabarita Lookout may be your answer. Please feel free to call us or email us with your questions and desires.

Don't get me wrong, the trip to Jamaica was educational and beneficial. You just need to know about the details. First of all, Cutty is terrific! Definitely knows everyone and goes out of his way to make your trip worthwhile. You need to know you are staying in a nice house that is off the beaten path. The road to the house is terrible. Be prepared for at least a 20 minute ride up and down the hill, dodging very big potholes all the way. The power went out 3 times during our one week stay. You may want to bring your own flashlights as Cutty lent us his. Otherwise you will deal with candlelight which was not fun. Water conservation is a huge problem in Jamaica so don't expect long hot showers. And if dogs barking at night, music playing until the wee hours of the morning don't bother you, you will enjoy the view, the pool and everything Jamaica has to offer. You need to plan your menu as you won't get a lot of help on figuring out your meal plan. Here is what we did on our holiday that might give you some ideas. Black Sands beach - your guides smoke dope the whole trip in a sketchy boat ride on the ocean. Not sure this is exactly what you want to experience although the pool of water is refreshing but because the drought is on, there is no waterfalls. Visiting the school is worthwhile - please take as much supplies as you can to help them out. Moxon beach is very expensive for lunch and they are now charging you for renting their kayaks so beware. Cutty was really upset about this! Shopping in the remote markets is really tough..be prepared to be hassled. Everyone wants a tip so take lots of US Cash. If you can convince Cutty, have him take you on a drive down the coastline to Long Bay. Absolutely fantastic beach and wonderful way to see Jamaica. We also visited the green grotto caves. Interesting but not sure it is worth a whole day trip. Overall, the house is nice (we had an ant problem when we were there and the dogs barking all night, goats and roosters make it an early morning as well!), the pool is terrific, Cutty makes the trip for sure. Make sure you ask Cutty to show you some of the plantations, the history of the island and how to properly taste sugar cane. And don't miss evenings at Noel Cowards estate - the view is spectacular.

We spent a week Cabarita Lookout and all I have to say is WOW! We arrived at the airport after being delayed for four hours. Cutty was there waiting for us and pointed out where we could get drinks while our bags were loaded up. When I apologized for our late arrival, his response of "No problem!" set the tone for the rest of the vacation. Having Cutty as the driver was amazing. He is like a rock star! He knows everyone and everything. If there is something you want to do, ask him. He knows where to go and when. He'll make all the arrangements and they will be top notch! Make sure you have him arrange a trip to the black sand beach with a side trip to Tacky Falls. Sharon's cooking was definitely a highlight! We found ourselves not really caring about lunch because we knew there would be a delicious dinner when we got back. We had her make some of the local dishes like Ackee and Saltfish and Jerk Chicken. She was even willing to make Mannish Water but I don't think we would have been brave enough to eat it! You will have to ask for the Johnny Cakes for breakfast. They are to die for! The property itself is nothing short of paradise. Beautiful lawn, warm cozy interior. You will feel at home as soon as you step inside. Beautiful wood floors and excellent views everywhere. Multiple showers made it easy to get ready in the morning. My daughters and I would wake up every morning to go for a run and would jog down the 1.5 miles to the main road. The locals were all very friendly and would give us a good morning. If you do plan on running, I will warn you that you will want to walk back up hill. It's kinda steep! The other thing you will want to do is walk to Curtis's Shop for a Red Stripe or ice cream. You won't need directions, just follow the music! One other "staff member" that I have to mention is the night time security manager and daytime greeter, Zeko the dog. He was always there to great us when we would come back and would watch us leave. When we would go for our runs or walks, he would walk us down to the end of the driveway and wait for our return. He is very friendly and loves to be pet. The sad part was when we were leaving he knew it and looked very sad.

Cabarita Lookout is amazing!! The pictures do not do it justice. When I first saw it on the website I thought this was photoshopped. I loved it! The view was great! The villa was so clean and well-kept. The grounds were nicely manicured also. Cutty, Sharon, and Natalie were the best!! I have never enjoyed myself so much. Cutty took us to a lot of places and took care of use like we were family. I am missing hearing Sharon say "ladies, breakfast!" This is a place that you have to see to believe. The ammenities are awesome! We climbed the falls at Dunn's River and went on a party boat! I had the most fun ever. I can't wait to go back so I can visit the black sands beaches!! I have recommended this villa to several family members and co-workers! I will definitely be back to Cabarita Lookout.

Owner response: We love this review because it focuses on our incredible staff! Cabarita Lookout is blessed to have Cutty, our driver, and Sharon and Nathalie, our cooks and housekeepers...they are truly the best staff ever! Our desire is to have Cabarita Lookout feel like your "home away from home" ...only better! And the key element in "better" is the staff, always happy when our guests are happy! Sharon is an amazing cook and her presentation of food is beautiful and appetizing! Cutty is Cabarita Lookout's driver and manager and he keeps us all entertained with stories of the lore of his land! While the views are magnificent, the pool refreshing and the home pristine, it is the staff that truly makes Cabarita Lookout the gem it is!

We were greeted at the Montego Bay airport by Cutty, the driver for Cabarita Lookout. Although we were delayed more than an hour past our original arrival time, his first words were, “No problem.” His sense of humor, knowledge of the island and his drive to please made our week at the villa even more delightful than we could have imagined. When we got to the villa, Cutty introduced us to Sharon, the cook, who had our dinner already prepared and waiting for us. Dinner was delightful and we headed out to relax on the large porch overlooking the pool. Cutty joined us later for conversation and then the lights went out! “No problem” as the villa has a generator, but we chose to sit in the semi-darkness until bedtime when Cutty turned on the generator to cool the lower bedrooms. We were in the master bedroom and the breeze was wonderful. All of a sudden, the lights came back on and the hillside awoke with music from the local roadside bars below us. True local ambience! Our first morning, we went shopping with Sharon to the local supermarket, prepared with our list of dinners for the week. One night, the captain of one of the fishing boats arrived at the villa with a huge mahi mahi, freshly caught that day. Sharon cooked it on the grill, lightly coated with butter and garlic and ohhhh, it was fantastic! Each day, Cutty talked with us about our plans for each day and was always willing to drive us where ever we liked, telling us about local customs of the island and people. About the villa itself….the view is indescribably wonderful. We spent many hours by the pool just reading or drinking something we mixed up in the kitchen. Every morning, breakfast smells wander through the house as Sharon cooks up something delicious. Lunch is on your own, to be sure to grab things at the market when you are there the first day. Dinner menus are suggested in the informational binder in the villa. Devon, the unofficial gardener, always had a smile for us and loved talking about his flowers. Sharon was always busy in the kitchen making meals or brownies for us-great smells! We made a wonderful new friend in Cutty and we are sure that everyone else that visits Cabarita Lookout will enjoy his company and his wonderful “no problem” smile! The owners were wonderful to work with. They replied to e-mails in a timely manner and never thought we asked too many questions. They are very proud of their home and love sharing it with guests…Thank you!!

Owner response: We do LOVE our home and LOVE to share it! Having worked with the people of Jamaica through our non-profit Jamaica Outreach - in both orphanages and primary schools - we have grown to love the Jamaican people so much! There is so much more to a vacation in Jamaica than jet skis and pina coladas...at Cabarita Lookout we try to share the island, the people, the food and the magic with our guests!

Out Stay at Cabarita Lookout was just Amazing. The Staff Sharon and Cutty were very professional and accommodating and always had a smile. We had a group of 6 plus an additional 35 people for a small wedding and everything was just exquisite. Sharon takes detail in preparing her meals we loved her pineapple upside down cake and her coconut cream lobster. After a long day exploring Dunn"s River Falls and James Bond Beach it was a relief to just come home and unwind by the pool with a glass of wine and a Red Stripe Beer. Cutty took us out everyday and he thrills you with beautiful island stories couldn't get enough. We found an extension to our family and you will you.

Owner response: Cabarita Lookout loves to hear rave reviews about our staff...because we think they are the best! As a new villa - just two years old - we strive to have the best possible food and service and we have been shown over and over that Sharon is a superb cook and Cutty the best-of-all story-telling drivers...it seems as though Cutty always becomes our guests "new best friend"! My husband and I recently took a high school team to work on a local primary school and the kids stayed at Cabarita Lookout - every night they said they couldn't wait until morning to see what Sharon had prepared. Not only is her food fabulous, her presentation is superb! While Cabarita Lookout is a lovely spot for a wedding or family gathering, it is also the perfect romantic getaway for a couple. The master suite sings romance with it's private veranda with massage table, lovely claw foot tub and amazing panoramic views - nothing tops the moon over the Caribbean Sea with a cool breeze blowing and not a worry in the world! Having breakfast as the sun rises on your private veranda is also enticing! Cabarita Lookout is also a great spot for families with children - on our last trip we actually witnessed a sea turtle hatch on the beach not far from the villa. We encourage our guests with children or teenagers to take them up to the school we support and spend some time with our Jamaican neighbor's children. Miss Jean, the principal of the local primary school, loves it when our guests visit and read to the children. Another terrific adventure from Cabarita Lookout is our trip to Black Sands Beach, a private, pristine beach about a 20 minute boat ride away. After swimming and a picnic our guests hike through the rainforest to the Tacky Waterfall - a 60-foot waterfall cascading into a fresh water pool. The local bamboo serves as a great raft to paddle under the waterfall - our guests love the trip! Cabarita Lookout offers a vacation much different from one you will find at a Super Club or hotel. We offer personalized service and opportunities to experience the Jamaican culture first hand. We love Cabarita Lookout and our staff and know you will too!

From the amazing meals to the Black Sand Beach, I have had the vacation of my life. Sharon has been an absolutely incredible chef; Cutty is my new best friend; and the Blisses have made the past two weeks something that I will be telling stories about for years to come. Jamaica (and the view from the house) is BREATHTAKING. A home away from home is an understatement, I truly feel that I have found something that allows me to forget the worries of home and enjoy the beauty of my surroundings, which is not complete without mentioning the people of Jamaica, by far the most welcoming people I have ever encountered. Pam and Ed have made my time in the awe inspiring country that much more amazing. If I am fortunate enough to travel back to this country there is no question that I will be staying at Cabarita Lookout! Best wishes and many, many thanks.

I have found my new home away from home. From the moment I stepped off the plane here and arrived at Cabarita Lookout I felt I belonged in Jamaica - its welcoming climate, landscape, and especially people delight all visitors. My favorite part of this trip was wandering into Port Maria and discovering its treasures. The vegetable market makes for the best meals and fresh fish can be purchased from the local fishermen and the oceanside bar is a great place to enjoy music. The Blisses are wonderfully accommodating and delightful in their stories. When I’m next able to come to this island I’ll look forward to staying at Cabarita Lookout and enjoy the spectacular views. Thanks for a great trip

Our vacation was amazing!!! Cabarita Lookout is spectacular! Sharon, Cutty and Parson are the BEST! Everything was great, Sharon's cooking & desserts are to die for and Cutty is our new best friend, we'll never forget him. There was only 1 question he could'nt answer, it was immaterial anyway. Pam & Ed Bliss have to be an awesome couple. We will return and we will recomend this villa to our family & friends.

My family stayed at Cabarita Lookout for a week during the month of May. Sure enough, Cutty was waiting for us as the Airport and took us back to Cabarita Lookout. And the views....we will never forget waking up every morning at 5:30 am just to watch the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea. Breakfasts were heavenly - Sharon and Natalie are fabulous and catered to whatever we wanted. Cutty was a generous host - you honestly will feel like you've known him forever. Dunn's River Falls was spectacular so was the ziplining. But, the best was getting the "real flavor" of the culture. Staying at a resort offers very limited taste's of Jamaica's true culture. However, staying at Cabarita Lookout, you get the real deal. Taking the boat to Blank Sands Beach and Tacky Falls was truly amazing. My son is 3 and he managed (thanks to Captain Bruce and Alfred.) It was honestly very hard to leave...not just the vacation, but Cutty, Sharon, and Natalie. They are so caring, friendly, and warm-hearted. One of the best vacations our family every took! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Oh my goodness, this is the best holiday we've ever had, without question worth the 10 hr flight from the UK! We definitely want to return next year. The location is not only gorgeous with a breath taking view, but perfect for doing some exploring of Jamaica too. We visited Dunns River, very touristy but a "must do" , Reggae beach and James Bond Beach. A trip to the Blue Mountains is on the list for next year and also Black Sands beach, as much to our dissapointment the sea was just too choppy! The villa is kept scrupliously clean by Sharon. Her cooking is so good we did not even go to a restaurant at all! Cutty gave us a tour of the grounds and told us all about the local flowers, plants & fruits. He drove us where ever we wanted to go and told us stories along the way. If like us, you find staying in a resort restrictive then I recommend Cabarita Lookout!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

                  Year Purchased: 2009

About the owner: My husband and I have had a love affair with Jamaica for over 25 years. The first year we visited Jamaica we were taking a drive east of Ocho Rios when we rounded a corner and saw the most spectacular coastal view we'd ever seen. My husband said, 'Some day we'll have a home with this view.' Little did we know, 12 years later we would be volunteering in orphanages in just this location! After 9 years of volunteer work, we found the perfect property with the view we had fallen in love with 20 years earlier. We purchased the land and built Cabarita Lookout! While we still bring mission teams to stay at Cabarita Lookout, we have also opened the villa up to guest rentals.

Why the Owner Chose Port Maria:
We actually purchased land in a location we love and built our own villa. As described earlier, we believe Cabarita Lookout has the most spectacular view in all of Jamaica, a land and people we love. Cabarita Lookout is located about 30 minutes from Ocho Rios in a quiet community atop a hill, sitting adjacent to Noel Coward's estate 'Firefly.' We are close enough to Ocho Rios to enjoy its fine dining, night life and beaches, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet our hilltop perch affords. Cabarita Lookout views the Caribbean and northern coastline, yet we are surrounded with lush vegetation including banana, mango, lime, papapa and ackee trees. Our caretakers, Cutty and Sharon, have also planted a vegetable garden which provides fresh lettuce, tomatoes, squash and beans. Cutty goes to the sea for fresh fish and lobster and Sharon adds the fresh fruits and vegetables from our land. Cabarita Lookout is a unique property that provides the perfect getaway for the more adventuresome or for those who just want to kick back around the pool and take in a view they'll remember forever.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
The benefits of staying at Cabarita Lookout are many. Sharon, our cook, creates fabulous meals out of fresh fruits and vegetables and local fish. We often take a boat from Paggee Beach, our local beach, and set out for pristine unpopulated beaches; my favorite is Black Sands Beach where we hike to an amazing waterfall and fresh water pool. Each morning I love to swim laps in our amazing 'pool with a view.' I love to dine at Toscanini's Restaurant in Ocho Rios and enjoy the night life. I love to sit on the master suite veranda with a glass of wine and melt into the view. I love to have breakfast on the veranda and watch the sun rise over Jamaica. I like to bicycle in the hills surrounding Cabarita Lookout. I love to swim at Moxon's Beach Club and be waited on hand and foot by their amazing staff. But most of all I just love being at Cabarita Lookout, 'far away from the maddening crowds,' and looking out on my little piece of paradise.
