We started coming to this cabin last year. Loved it so much that we came back this year. The location is perfect, very convenient, not too far from town yet secluded and peaceful. The scenery is beautiful and quiet. It has everything you need. Ingles grocery store and restaurants are just minutes away. Also love the fact that it is pet friendly. They have lots of really good movies to watch on a rainy day. We took some relatives with us this year and they were very happy also. Thanks! We'll be back!!

We absolutely loved the 'Knotty Knoll'! Barbie was great to work with! The pictures are accurate on the website. Lots of stuff to do in Bryson City - even in January! Skiing was w/in 45 minutes, snow tubing. Great Smokey Mountain railroad was fun, too. Their home is convenient to downtown, but secluded in a beautiful area with a great view. We highly recommend their vacation home!!

We spent 4 days at Knotty Knoll over the New Year weekend. The cabin is just beautiful, I really enjoyed the mix of antiques and woodsy feel. Everything was ready for us from wood for the fireplace to plenty of towels and nice beds (with lots of pillows :)! It was especially nice to have the garage with washer and dryer! We took our 21 and 18 year old sons to snowboard but they only went one day and another day of mountain biking (perfect that they could put their bikes in the garage). Knotty Knoll was located about 35 minutes to the ski slope and 15 minutes to the mountain bike trail, they had a blast at both! We throughly enjoyed our frequent visitors, Taco and Abbie, the dogs! I hated to tell them to go home, but when I did, they would hang their heads and head up the trail to their house. When we would leave the cabin they were right there when we got back, it made us miss our dogs at home! Barbie was very informative and right on top of things when I forgot to bring my instructions on how to get into the cabin....whew!!! We will stay here again if we get up to Bryson City, we had a great time! Thanks again!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Knotty Knoll, though it was much to short. We had absolutely everything we needed. It was very clean and the owners have thought of so many things to make your stay more enjoyable. Barbie was quick to respond to emails and very helpful. Do yourself a favor and choose Knotty Knoll!

We have stayed in 7-8 cabins over the last several years, and Barbie and Greg's is one3 of the best - it is a home away from home: inside it's more like staying at a friend's 3 bedroom house than a cabin, but outside the views are lovely and the location is quite secluded. Nice little hot tub, a firepit and wood available, nice selection of DVD's (bring some for the kids - not a lot of kids movies) and a TON of room - the pictures are deceiving. It's just a couple miles to the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad - we went on the Polar Express trip, which is a superb excursion for young kids. You're close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center for rafting and such, there's horseback riding nearby and Cherokee for tourist-y visits. This is a perfect place to stay amid the things to do. We will be recommending to friends.

My family decided to spend Thanksgiving together but since we don't live in the same state needed a place to meet. "Knotty Knoll" in Bryson City was the perfect place for us. The cabin is beautiful and has all the amenities you could ever need. Barbie is a love and kept in touch with us throughout the whole process. We will definately stay there again.

.......you're in for a nice surprise. Really enjoyed our stay as a group of 4 friends, (2 couples). Spacious, great facilities, lots of character and well secluded making it a really relaxing stay. The use of the fire-pit and barbeque made for a really atmospheric and enjoyable 2 nights, whether it was the wine or the thought of bear eyes looking at what we were cooking up. Whilst we didn't see her, Barbie has been great with our booking given that we were travelling from England, keeping us informed at all stages and providing great instructions on getting there. Would definitely recommend. Whilst location was a couple of miles from Bryson City itself (and the city doesn't do taxis), it didn't present us with a problem. If coming back, would definitely think about staying here again.

Knotty Knoll is a "one of a kind" place. We spent three wonderful days/nights at this little slice of heaven on earth and found the descriptions to be completely accurate. Such beauty!! Barbie thought of everything...including even the smallest needs one may have (think of scissors, reading glasses, etc.) and arranged for the Bryson City Chamber of Commerce to send us a packet of information on the area. For motorcyclists Knotty Knoll is truly a perfect place to use as a base and so comforting to return to after a day of riding. We toured Silva, the Blueridge Parkway, Smokey Mountain National Park, Cherokee and the Paula Deen Restaurant, and rounded the trip out with a visit to the Wheels Through Time Museum. We loved every moment spent at Knotty Knoll and only wish we had more time to explore such a beautiful part of our beloved country. Thank you, Barbie, for the time and effort you and your family have invested in making your home such a special place, and for sharing it with us.

What a charming cabin. Every thing was clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Although there was only two of us, there is plenty of room for 6. We enjoyed the porch, watching the birds and chipmunks. Our occassional guest (yellow lab) was sweet and playfull. Well minded and enjoyed fetching rocks. The location is excellent and very private. Everything is there. What a honeymoon!!!!! We will always have the great memories of the times we shared and loved at Knotty Knoll.

The perfect spot for a weekend getaway. Great for kids and adults alike. Pictures are accurate and home is tastefully decorated. Fantastic hot tub, front porch with ceiling fans, and firewood available (for small extra charge) for fire pit...a must for s'mores! Loved that the home felt serene and private, but was a very convenient drive to grocery store, shops, etc. A short drive to white-water rafting and train rides as well! Barbie was excellent to work with and very prompt with all emails and mailings. We hope to stay here again!

The cabin was everything I thought it would be, and more! There were 4 of us on a family vacation and we had a wonderful time! Everything in the cabin was perfect, right down to the hot tub!!! A wonderful way to relax after a long day of seeing the sights. There was only one problem ,,,,,, our vacation wasn't long enough!!!! We didn't want to leave! We all enjoyed the daily visits from Abby and Taco, since we left our pets at home. Thank you Barbie and Greg for sharing your wonderful cabin! I for one can't wait to come back! A fall trip would be awesome! I would recommend Knotty Knoll any day!

We had a wonderful time! It was clear to us right away that the cabin owners had put great thought into making the cabin guests feel at home and comfortable. The cabin and surroundings are beautiful. Very peaceful and private. The outdoor fire pit and hot tub were very nice after a long day out exploring. So much to see and do in the area! Something for everyone. We were there 5 days and realized that there was still so much more that we wanted to do! The owners are great people and were very attentive and prompt in responding to us through the registration process and also were readily available for any questions we had along the way. Location is great and easy to access. The cabin was very comfortable and perfect for us in every way. I really appreciate that the cabin is pet friendly as well. That is important to us. We left our fur friends at home this trip but will bring them back with us next time. We look forward to coming back again! Thank you Barbie and Greg for so graciously opening up your cabin for others to enjoy.

Picture Perfect. My husband and I had a lovely time. The cabin is beautiful and so peaceful. It is very well taken care. You can see the amount of love that the owners put into making it comfortable to their guest. We felt right at home. Big porch with Rockers, Porch Swing and of course the visiting dogs Abby & Taco :) We look forward to bringing our 3 boys down in December and taking a ride on The Polar Express. I know our boys will love the cabin, the fire pit and Abby & Taco. Thank you to Barbie & Greg for sharing this amazing piece of heaven with us. We LOVED everything about Knotty Knoll!

I can't even begin to tell you what a great time I had in this cabin/town! The cabin was everything it was advertised to be, and, more. I have never been so comfortable, and felt so at home, as I did when I stayed here. My boyfriend and I made two great friends that came to visit us every day and evening: Abby and Taco! The scenery was absolutely gorgeous! Sitting out on the front porch with a hot cup of chocolate in the evening, Abby and Taco by my side, was the best! Abby was relentless in her wanting to play fetch with a rock not a ball. No matter where you threw that rock, she woukd always bring the same one back. I loved hearing the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad blow it's whistle in early morning and evening hours. We did take the train ride to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, had lunch at the River's Bend Restaraunt, and back to the depot. I didn't want to come back home. Would I stay there again? Yes! In a heartbeat!! I have not met the Owners Barbie and Greg, but let me tell you something: You feel like you've known Barbie (that's who I spoke with making arangements) forever. There wasn't anything that she told me about the cabin and the area that wasn't true. The views, the area, the people, and of course Abby and Taco made the four days in Bryson City the best time I've had since I was just a kid going to New Hampshire with my family. Gonna try and get away again sometime in December. I can't wait! Thank You Barbie and Gregg for sharing your home away from home with us. Nancy and Tony VB Florida
Owner response:Nancy & Tony, Can't thank you enough for all the kind words! Our goal has been to provide a place for people to come and enjoy our home as much as we do. I can tell by your review we have achieved just that. We appreciate it so much and look forward to having you again. Regards, Barbie & Greg

After a brief trip to Western North Carolina this past summer, we knew we absolutely HAD to return in the fall! We did our research on the area, and could not have chosen a better location for us than Knotty Knoll. It is in a convenient location for day trips (an hour from Asheville, near Cherokee and Gatlinburg, minutes from Bryson City and Great Smokey Mountains National Park), but gives the feeling of being totally isolated in a mountain cabin in the middle of nowhere, which was what we were looking for. My favorite memories from Knotty Knoll? The fire in the fireplace during the cool evenings. The porch swing, snuggled under a blanket with a favorite book. The smell of homemade chili in the crockpot as we returned to the cabin after a day of hiking. Trying out the hot tub (even though it was COLD outside), enjoying the quiet and watching the stars. Vacation doesn't get much better than this!!

Just got home from a WONDERFUL week at Knotty Knoll!!! Everything was great - the location, the view and especially the cabin! This place was way bigger than it appears in the pics and it was so nice & comfortable (can't believe we ever considered staying at a hotel.) It is really close to restaurants & stores in town (a huge grocery store is just minutes away.) We cooked several meals and had everything we needed at our fingertips. We didn't try the hot tub or firepit, but both are in great areas to enjoy with your family. We loved that we were able to bring along our dog - he enjoyed exploring the woods around the cabin & going on long rides in the area! The drive over to Gatlinburg on 441 through Great Smoky Mountain National Park was breathtaking (first time we've ever seen snow in October!) We also enjoyed Cherokee and a few of us took the railroad trip to Nantahala, which was a lot of fun. We all said that the best part of our daily excursions was coming home to such a comfortable place - it truly felt like a home to us. I know this has been said a lot in the reviews, but it is absolutely true - Barbie is wonderful to work with! She made the whole process so easy and she really cares about making sure your stay is comfortable. This is a great property and I'm so glad we chose Knotty Knoll!

We totally loved the cabin and the location. The cabin is beautiful and clean. It has everything you would want or need. The view is breath taking. This was by far one of our best vacations. And Barbie was a joy to work with. Such a nice person. I would highly recommend this cabin. And Bryson City is a neat town. We loved the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and the waterfalls at Deep Creek. Plus the shopping in Bryson City, Dillsboro and Sylva. Great location for the Smokies.

In August of 2010, my family and I had the pleasure of staying in this charming, enchanted cabin, nestled quietly and securely on the side of a mountain. To say Barbie, the owner is courteous, compassionate, friendly, and fair is an understatement. One could not ask for more honest friendlier, owners. The rental does not feel like a rental...It does not feel like a vacation property. The feeling you get when inside this beautiful, elegant log cabin is that you are in YOUR home. YOUR log cabin... It is comfortably furnished, clean (spotless) and has all of the comforts of home. The hot tub is incredible during those calm mountain nights and incredibly well kept. The tub was serviced and professionally cleaned prior to our arrival, and once again during our visit. The linens are soft, the beds comfortable, and besides my spouse and four children, my chocolate lab, Scout had just as good of a time. If you are looking for somewhere where you can loose your worries, stress and troubles, somewhere where you will be well taken care of and settle in complete relaxation, somewhere with an honest and trusting owner, and are looking for the most incredible log cabin in the world, this is exactly where you need to be, and want to go. This cabin was more than the pictures could show. Beds were very conmfortable to give a good nights sleep. Jacuzzi and firepit provided for nightly activity for our family. This cabin is centrally located within many unique and exciting towns and events. Whether you are in Cherokee dancing with the indians or 5o36 feet high up on a drive to Pigeon Forge, the comforts of the cabin is less than an hour away. The Byyson City towns folk are very friendly making you feel right at home. We will be visiting this cabin again next year. Owners very honest and easy to communicate with! Cabin included everything we could possibly need!

We enjoyed the cabin very much Found everything we needed for a great few days. The only problem I have with the cabin is the main floor bath. The claw foot tub looks great but is not very useful. Thanks much.
Owner response:We value our guest comments and take every concern seriously. I regret that this guest found the Clawfoot Tub a problem and I apoligize for any inconveinence. We try to remember to bring anything that might be of concern to the attention of our elderly guest. There is a photo of the Bathroom w/Tub on the Website. For those who choose an alternative the Walk-In Shower upstairs is great! If you appreciate nostalgia and the not so ordinary you will love "Knotty Knoll". The Clawfoot Tub is fairly large for those who love to soak and the Rain Shower Head feels absolutly wonderful!

Over the years, we've rented many places. Knotty Knoll has been one of the best experiences we've had. The cabin is clean, nicely decorated & well stocked with supplies (cooking utensils, towels, movies, etc). Location is set off on peaceful private street, yet near thriving, small-town Bryson City. Within an hour's drive to many other great destinations. Owners were very organized & easy to deal with.

It was pretty secluded so you felt like you were the only ones around but you were also close enough to town and could walk around downtown Bryson City or go a little further to Cherokee. Knotty Knoll is an excellent cabin. Everything you need and more. Exceptionally clean and accomodating. Loved the fire pit and large porch with lots of seating. Didn't use the hot tub, but I am sure it would have been great. Away from it all, but not far from town. Would recommend Knotty Knoll to those looking for a cabin in the Bryson City area. Barbie is wonderful to work with too. We had a great weekend !
