We loved almost everything about this home. It is private, beautiful surrounding, great swimming and fishing. My kids loved the beach area and dock. The only thing that put a damper on this vacation was the solar system. We were not given enough instruction on how the system works. When we finally go the hang it and got it working smoothly it was time to leave. We plan on going back. But please get electricity.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We have heard from a number of guests about the challenges presented when living in an environmentally friendly home. Fortunately, in the next week or so public electricity will be turned on. When we first built this house 5 years ago, public electricity was not available for this area, so solar power was our only option. We value our environmentally friendly home and will continue to offer our guests the best of both worlds. We hope you will return to the Sunset Hideaway in the future especially now that the electricity is available. If you enjoyed your stay in the summer, we suggest that you experience this house in the winter where you can enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and much more. It is truly a winter wonderland. Happy Vacationing from the Owner's of the Sunset Hideaway

If your looking for a private getaway with no one around, this is your place. The house had a nice simple layout and the hot tub was great to warm up in after swimming. On the down side, we wished we had known more about what renting a solar powered home entailed. Every morning we had to run the loud generator for a few hours to get the power back to 100%. Additionally, we had to monitor the readings during the day and turn it on again if it wasn't a sunny day so we didn't lose power. If my husband were writing this, I'm sure he'd have a few more words to say about solar. Overall, we felt like we had to monitor the meter all day, listen to the loud generator, instead of sitting back relaxing. We didn't want to leave the house while the generator was running, or the meter was low and risk coming back to a dark house. The other thing is I wish I had done some more research on the area, or was told more....the house was deep into the woods on windy dirt roads, and any good decent restaurant or grocery store was a good 40 minutes away. So if you're the person looking for complete privacy and don't want to leave the property, this is the place for you....once the electric gets hooked up. P.S. the fishing was just ok...lots of little fish...not the big ones!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: For everyone reading this review, this property is VERY PRIVATE and this is one of the features that we value the most. When we vacation at the Hideaway, we enjoy getting away from the crowds to relax, swim, boat, fish, hike, and surround ourselves in the beauty of nature. We reside in the suburbs with, neighbors on both sides, traffic, lawn mowers, and noise. We have access to some of the best restaurants and shopping malls throughout the year. When we go on vacation we prefer everything that the Hideaway offers especially the privacy, quiet, wilderness, beautiful views and peace. If these are things you enjoy then the Sunset Hideaway will be your vacation paradise. In the next week or so the electricity will be turned on so the issue with the solar power and generator has been resolved. We value our environmentally friendly home and will continue to offer our guests the best of both worlds. Finally, if you are a true fisher-person you will catch “the big ones”. I have, on more than one occasion. If you ask the locals they will tell you that Brassua Lake has some of the best fishing in the area. They are more than welling to tell you what is running and what lure or bait people are using at that time. If you want you can find a guide that would be willing to take you on the lake for a small fee. When you stay at our home, please remember what every local knows and it is to visit Black Point. This point is one of many areas of the lake where you are almost always guaranteed to catch the BIG one. We value our customers. We are always available to speak to our guests and answer any questions or concerns they may have. I am sorry that the Bass Master and his wife did not take advantage of this offer. Happy Vacationing from the Owner's of the Sunset Hideaway
