The Lodge was perfect for our romantic weekend getaway. We loved how serene and beautiful it was. We drove to Buena Vista - only an hour away to Mt. Princeton, the hot springs and enjoyed a relaxing day there. We also had a romantic, delicious meal at The Swiss Chalet in Woodland Park. We enjoyed hiking, which the lodge has beautiful ample grounds for on the property. The views of Pikes Peak are glorious. Also the owners are so pleasant to work with. We feel so relaxed and rejuvenated as we headed back to Denver this morning.

We were pleasantly surprised by the lodge. It exceeded the listing description in many ways. The setting is private with incredible views of Pikes Peak, a large meadow on one side, woods off the kitchen, and llamas and horses in a neighboring forested pasture. The lodge was neat and clean with an incredibly outfitted kitchen for regular meals or entertaining. We couldn't think of a thing to add to the kitchen and loved the coffee mug corner which was a big hit every morning as we picked our mugs. There was ample room for all 17 of us around the dining table. We enjoyed the rocking chairs and decks. We loved the large plush towels and the quality of the bedding. The large grill on the kitchen deck was a plus and the dishwasher made cleanup a breeze. We lit the woodburning stove one evening to take the chill out of the air. Each floor has a common area...we enjoyed watching pictures from the wedding on the large screen on the second floor. The basement provided a place for the kids to play as well a pool table for the older crowd. The piano on the second floor and selection of games added to the fun. We enjoyed hiking on nearby trails and watched deer walk through the woods right out the kitchen door. Divide has a great wood fired pizza parlor...a few miles away. We found a great gentle trail on the Northwest side of Pikes Peak(I think called the Cobbs). There are hiking trails right down the road from the lodge within walking distance through woods and meadows. Biking would be great on the roads around the lodge also. One of our party was in an electric wheel chair. There is a ramp that allows for access to the deck and all entryways. Two items that would be helpful are a shower chair and a hand held shower in the main floor suite bathroom. Otherwise, it was absolutely perfect! The owners were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this property for a wedding, family reunion, xc skiing, or just getting away with friends or family. I would love to see the lodge in fall and winter. We will be returning in the future for a longer stay.

There was something for everyone of all ages to do . We couldn't have asked for a better setting. The owner was very nice as well and made sure that we had everything we needed! I would highly recommend using this cabin to anyone !!! Thanks again Gary

I coordinated my brother's military retirement party at the lodge, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Out-of-state guests were delighted with the beautiful accommodations over that Friday through Sunday. We had about 30 guests over the weekend, 10 of whom stayed at the lodge, and there was plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable. I created an extensive menu for the entire weekend and recruited 5-7 people for any given meal to help me prep, cook, and serve. Every meal was served without a hitch. There was room in the kitchen and facilities for all of us to work our stations, not interrupt the flow of the party, but yet still be in and among the party socially. And we complimented the menu with plenty of BBQ goodness from the large grill on the deck! Gary and Lois were fantastic proprietors, and we were honored that they and several friends accepted our invitation to join us for dinner on Friday. From our initial contact, Gary and Lois were at all times gracious, professional, and accommodating. After we checked out, we unknowingly left some personal items at the lodge, and they immediately called us to ensure that our things were returned to us. We had a perfect experience at the lodge, and are so pleased to have gained new friends in Gary and Lois, and in their friends whom we were fortunate also to have met.

I woke up this morning as the sun rose on my last day at the lodge, and I warmly looked back on the weekend I had spend here. Gary and Lois were so very genuine and friendly and accommodating. Gary even provided us with a thoughtful and kind Grace before we sat down to our first dinner. The property is obviously maintained with great care, as we arrived to the lodge to find it clean and warm and inviting. We enjoyed the stunning views of Pikes Peak, we walked the large property, and we generally had an amazing time. Everything about the place, from the land to the lodge to the owners, is top notch. If you are at all considering the Lodge at Elk Valley for your gathering, you should just go ahead and reserve it now.

We have benefited from the hospitality of Gary Sprague and the Lodge at Elk Valley for a number of years. The Lodge is beautiful, the property and views are spectacular, and the presence of the Lord is there. We typically have a group of 15-20 staff members over the weekend, and find the Lodge to be well appointed for all of us to be cared for and pampered. The rooms are beautiful, the kitchen is great to do cooking and serving, and the deck all around the Lodge is all of our favorite. We appreciate the hospitality and kindness of Gary. We look forward to enjoying another staff retreat there next year!

We rented the lodge for the weekend of our wedding. Had the entire family stay in one house and then had a 75 person wedding ceremony and reception out in the field. Such a beautiful house and area! The porch is so big an accommodating that we were able to retreat inside and under the porch when it rained!

Gary & Louis's Lodge was the only option for a phenominal 1st Birthday party for our daughter. We hosted about 29 guests which would not have been possible without the luxurious lodge and extensive attention to details we needed for the party. The Lodge had every utensil and widget we needed to bbq and serve a complete dinner without a hitch! The owners were gracious and kind enough to see that we had everything we needed. The accomodations were beyond compare and we had enough room for all the adults to mingle while kids were entertained in the recreation room with games and a pool table. We reccomend this location to everyone with any inclination to host a retreat or vacation in a location thats easy to reach in the shadows of Pikes Peak and freeway close to the Front Range. Thanks again! Eric & Laurie

My daugher's wedding couldn't have been in a more beautiful and perfectly suited place. The house absolutely fit our needs for cooking and created a fun environement for creativity and connection. We had the wedding to the north of the house in the Aspens and it was glorious. Many people said they'd never been to such a touching ceremony. Then we had plenty of room to play games, hike, and just lay around. In our busy world, this sanctuary offered people the chance to stop, relax, and truly enjoy nature and each other. I would and have been highly recommending it to my friends and colleagues. Thank you, thank you, thank you:)

About: Gary & Lois Sprague are the innkeepers of the Lodge at Elk Valley. They have 5 children (ages 24 to 16). Gary has directed a non-profit organization for 25 years that benefits single parents and non-nuclear families. He is a social worker and an ordained minister. He enjoys running in the National Forest (across the street from the Lodge) with his 2 dogs and going to Broncos football games. Lois is a free-lance artist and illustrator. She paints in several mediums for several different applications: Illustration • Oil • Pastel Watercolor• Graphite/Wash • Charcoal • Portraits. Her paintings can be seen in many local galleries along with almost every room at the Lodge. She enjoys her family and friends and always has a smile on her face.

                      Why Divide:
The Pikes Peak region is beautiful and peaceful at the same time. At over 9000 feet, you truly are 'in the mountains.' We decided to move to this area so that we could live in the mountains instead of just look at them. The people in Teller County are friendly and believe that living here is one of life's best kept secrets. Pikes Peak itself is majestic and the views that you get driving from Colorado Springs around the mountain to Divide are some of the best in Colorado. The outdoor activities in the Pikes Peak region attracted us to visit and then we fell in love with the area.

The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
The Lodge at Elk Valley has become very special to all who stay here. When not being rented out, we use this facility as our headquarters for our ministry with single parents and non-nuclear families. Many events have given opportunity for peace, hope, comfort and healing. The facility is amazing! Our rental guests will truly 'Find their Quiet' as they wake up every morning to the views of Pikes Peak and the wildlife on the property. Our Lodge becomes a place of rest, reflection and refocus for our guests. You will return home changed from your stay at the Lodge at Elk Valley.
