Why the Owner Chose Divide
The Pikes Peak region is beautiful and peaceful at the same time. At over 9000 feet, you truly are "in the mountains." We decided to move to this area so that we could live in the mountains instead of just look at them. The people in Teller County are friendly and believe that living here is one of life's best kept secrets. Pikes Peak itself is majestic and the views that you get driving from Colorado Springs around the mountain to Divide are some of the best in Colorado. The outdoor activities in the Pikes Peak region attracted us to visit and then we fell in love with the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge
The Lodge at Elk Valley has become very special to all who stay here. When not being rented out, we use this facility as our headquarters for our ministry with single parents and non-nuclear families. Many events have given opportunity for peace, hope, comfort and healing. The facility is amazing! Our rental guests will truly "Find their Quiet" as they wake up every morning to the views of Pikes Peak and the wildlife on the property. Our Lodge becomes a place of rest, reflection and refocus for our guests. You will return home changed from your stay at the Lodge at Elk Valley.
Owner's Map of Divide
Gary & Lois Sprague are the innkeepers of the Lodge at Elk Valley. They have 5 children (ages 21 to 12).
Gary has directed a non-profit organization for 20 years that benefits single parents and non-nuclear families. He is a social worker and an ordained minister. He enjoys running in the National Forest (across the street from the Lodge) with his 2 dogs and going to Broncos football games.
Lois is a free-lance artist and illustrator. She paints in several mediums for several different applications: Illustration • Oil • Pastel Watercolor• Graphite/Wash • Charcoal • Portraits. Her paintings can be seen in many local galleries along with almost every room at the Lodge. She enjoys her family and friends and always has a smile on her face.

Our family with 22 members had a wonderful time at the Elk Mountain Lodge. It was perfect for our needs, a big kitchen and large table, lots of space, private bathrooms and plenty of space for food! The beds were so comfortable, the lodge was decorated in a warm and welcoming way. Everything was clean and in good working order. Gary met us to do a walk through and left us on our own. We all enjoyed the stay and look forward to coming back again!

I stayed at this lodge as a part of a retreat I was attending. It was absolutely gorgeous and quiet - outside town and surrounded by nature! The beds were comfortable - and the facilities very nice!! Would most definitely love to stay here again sometime!

The women in our local church held a fall retreat at the Lodge at Elk Valley, and we all were highly impressed with the sense of being a world apart from everything else! Though access to the property is so easy, the lodge and the beautiful land surrounding it are very private and quiet, and the view of Pikes Peak is unparalleled. The atmosphere of the lodge, with its wrap-around covered porch, authentic Rocky Mountain furniture, superior bed and bath linens, well-stocked kitchen, modern appliances and electronics, and tasteful western appointments throughout, was ideal for us. We all greatly enjoyed walking through the open meadows and golden aspen groves, the deep blue sky, campfires at night, and the sounds of owls hooting and elk bugling throughout the weekend. We have held retreats in other nice properties, but this property wins the prize for being overall best place for relaxing and refreshing! Our hosts were so accommodating and took personal interest in our comfort. We can't wait to return for another retreat.

Your lodge was the perfect location for our mother's 80th birthday celebration. We had 17 family members ranging in age from 9 months to 80 and everyone had a fantastic time. There was so much for the 7 children to do that they didn't want to leave the cabin and see any of the other sights in the area!!! It was a great place for our entire family to reconnect and spend some quality family time and celebrate our mother's special day!!! We will be back for her 90th!!!

Our 28 person team used the lodge for a one-day offsite. We were so refreshed by the beautiful setting, the lovely amenities at the lodge, the great family kitchen, and best of all.....the wrap-around porch! All four seasons would lend themselves well to the get-away feel of this property -- so close, yet far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We had a group of 24 at the Lodge for a week-long 40th birthday celebration. The place was so outstanding in location, scenery, and amenities that we all found it impossible not to have fun up there! It's peaceful yet full of life! Clean, modern, comfortable. The owners went out of their way to assure we had everything we needed. I would strongly recommend it.

I've been hosting a Creative Memories retreat here for the past 4 years,. My girlfriends and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! The accomodations are wonderful! Lois, Gary and their staff are fantastic and try hard to meet our every need. The lodge is always clean, the air is fresh, and the location is breath taking. Each room is decorated so nicely! I highly recommend this place for a wonderful getaway!
