Wonderful Family Gathering

Guest: Mary (Aurora, CO)
Date of Stay: 12/09/11 Review Submitted: 12/13/11

Our family with 22 members had a wonderful time at the Elk Mountain Lodge. It was perfect for our needs, a big kitchen and large table, lots of space, private bathrooms and plenty of space for food! The beds were so comfortable, the lodge was decorated in a warm and welcoming way. Everything was clean and in good working order. Gary met us to do a walk through and left us on our own. We all enjoyed the stay and look forward to coming back again!

I stayed at this lodge as a part of a retreat I was attending. It was absolutely gorgeous and quiet - outside town and surrounded by nature! The beds were comfortable - and the facilities very nice!! Would most definitely love to stay here again sometime!

Unforgettably Beautiful Setting, Ultra Comfort

Guest: Jim and Teri Downs (Woodland Park, CO)
Date of Stay: 09/30/11 Review Submitted: 11/12/11

The women in our local church held a fall retreat at the Lodge at Elk Valley, and we all were highly impressed with the sense of being a world apart from everything else! Though access to the property is so easy, the lodge and the beautiful land surrounding it are very private and quiet, and the view of Pikes Peak is unparalleled. The atmosphere of the lodge, with its wrap-around covered porch, authentic Rocky Mountain furniture, superior bed and bath linens, well-stocked kitchen, modern appliances and electronics, and tasteful western appointments throughout, was ideal for us. We all greatly enjoyed walking through the open meadows and golden aspen groves, the deep blue sky, campfires at night, and the sounds of owls hooting and elk bugling throughout the weekend. We have held retreats in other nice properties, but this property wins the prize for being overall best place for relaxing and refreshing! Our hosts were so accommodating and took personal interest in our comfort. We can't wait to return for another retreat.

80th Birthday Celebration

Guest: Cheri (St. Petersburg, FL)
Date of Stay: 08/07/10 Review Submitted: 08/31/10

Your lodge was the perfect location for our mother's 80th birthday celebration. We had 17 family members ranging in age from 9 months to 80 and everyone had a fantastic time. There was so much for the 7 children to do that they didn't want to leave the cabin and see any of the other sights in the area!!! It was a great place for our entire family to reconnect and spend some quality family time and celebrate our mother's special day!!! We will be back for her 90th!!!

We hosted a group of about 20 people at the Lodge at Elk Valley. From the spectacular setting, to the accomodations, to the ownership and staff help - we found it to be beyond what we had dreamt. We truly cannot wait for our return visit.

How can you not have fun at the Lodge?

Guest: Chris S. (Denver)
Date of Stay: 06/21/10 Review Submitted: 07/03/10

We had a group of 24 at the Lodge for a week-long 40th birthday celebration. The place was so outstanding in location, scenery, and amenities that we all found it impossible not to have fun up there! It's peaceful yet full of life! Clean, modern, comfortable. The owners went out of their way to assure we had everything we needed. I would strongly recommend it.

Offsite Team Day

Guest: Laurie (Colorado Springs)
Date of Stay: 04/09/10 Review Submitted: 08/24/10

Our 28 person team used the lodge for a one-day offsite. We were so refreshed by the beautiful setting, the lovely amenities at the lodge, the great family kitchen, and best of all.....the wrap-around porch! All four seasons would lend themselves well to the get-away feel of this property -- so close, yet far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Perfect setting and accommodations for large groups

Guest: David S. (Woodland Park, CO)
Date of Stay: 10/09/09 Review Submitted: 04/01/10

Gary's lodge is perfect for large groups (10-24) in a beautiful Colorado Mountain setting. There are enough rooms for privacy, but your group is not spread out all over the place like a "camp setting". It was great having everyone under one roof, eating, meeting, praying and sharing together in a luxurious yet very practical setting. Your place wins hands down over all the other places we have used for our annual reunions. Thanks for the hospitality and very reasonable pricing ! Best wishes, The "Bethel Boys Band of Brothers"

A perfect location to host a wedding party

Guest: DevonB (Divide, CO)
Date of Stay: 09/17/09 Review Submitted: 04/01/10

For our daughters wedding, we hosted the wedding party at the Lodge. What a great way to get everyone excited about the big day. The wedding party was tremendously impressed by the beautiful views, wonderful accomdations and relaxing atmosphere. It was a fantastic setting for the "destination wedding" to create lasting memories. I can't imagine a visitor not being impressed.

A wonderful facility for families, especially families with young children. The home was clean and well furnished with everything possible for a lovely stay. We used the place for a family reunion and it was as perfect for the 2 year old as it was for the great-grandparents. Gary was a most friendly and helpful host----I would certainly recommend a stay!

Lots of activities and games, like volleyball, ping pong, pool etc are available. Gary and Lois Sprague the managers of the lodge are wonderful people to work with. Highly recommended place!

Guest: Barbara Schiller Stevens (St. Louis, Missouri)
Date of Stay: 03/22/09 Review Submitted: 03/22/09

My wedding day was on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Our family and friends are STILL talking about it months later! We invited everyone to stay for the entire weekend--all 25 of our guests. From the VERY beginning of our joyous event, the innkeepers Gary and Lois Sprague were attentive to every detail. We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday evening,(We used Cravings Catering--a complete wedding catering service for the weekend.), which included a FUN outdoor campfire organized by the Spragues. You cannot imagine the wonderful memories that were shared that night. Since the kitchen can accommodate large groups, everyone woke up to making their own breakfasts with fresh coffee. (We bought the food items ahead of time.) Most went out on the outdoor balcony to watch the beautiful sunrise with Pikes Peak in view. Our indoor wedding day was incredible. How do you describe one's feelings when immersed in fresh mountain air, sapphire blue sky, quaking aspens with majestic mountains framed in the background? You simply can't. We also had our wedding reception at The Lodge. The catering service simply moved the chairs and put up tables. This is what makes The Spragues so unique! They work with you. Another specialty is since The Lodge is surrounded by pine trees and aspens, our wedding and family pictures were taken outdoors. Our pictures are lovely! If you are planning your wedding, this is the place. What you receive with what you pay there are no comparisons to other facilities.

Elk Lodge is the absolute best place for Retreats. I am a Creative Memories Consultant and have been going to Elk Lodge twice a year for 3 years with my customers. We all love it! If I didn't offer these retreats at Elk Lodge, I'm sure I would lose several customers. Dedicated time away in the beautiful mountains to work on preserving memories! The staff is wonderful, the accommodations fantastic, and the views are breath-taking! I'm looking forward to many more visits!

My wife and I have visited the Lodge, and stayed overnight, on several occasions. I can't think of a better place for a retreat, anniversary getaway, family reunion, or even a wedding !!! The house is large, well appointed, and very comfortable (It can sleep over 20 people)! It's very secluded and private, but you're only 5 or 10 minutes from town and shopping. The views are spectacular, and because of the high altitude and dry air, the days are almost always sunny, with cool evenings. There is hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and riding ATV's on site, or very close by. In addition, there are many other activities including water tubing, rock climbing, mountain biking, wildlife and bird watching, touring old mining sights/ghost towns, etc. The Colorado Springs area has a multitude of tourist sights as well, such as The Air Force Academy, the Olympic Training Center, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Glen Eyrie Castle, Focus on the Family, etc. I've traveled through most of the US and Canada, and I haven't found a vacation spot with a better combination of pleasant climate, beautiful location, and affordable price!

Since 2006, The Lodge at Elk Valley has been my favorite place to spend a quiet, meditative weekend just about every other month. When I'm at The Lodge, I always find a quiet place under an aspen or on the wraparond porch. If I'm with friends, delicious meals are shared on the long pine table and fellowship is enjoyed in front of the fireplace in the inviting living room. (The beds are big and cozy so I never miss any sleep.) The staff is also very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend The Lodge for group activities or a weekend getaway.
