We have benefited from the hospitality of Gary Sprague and the Lodge at Elk Valley for a number of years. The Lodge is beautiful, the property and views are spectacular, and the presence of the Lord is there. We typically have a group of 15-20 staff members over the weekend, and find the Lodge to be well appointed for all of us to be cared for and pampered. The rooms are beautiful, the kitchen is great to do cooking and serving, and the deck all around the Lodge is all of our favorite. We appreciate the hospitality and kindness of Gary. We look forward to enjoying another staff retreat there next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My daugher's wedding couldn't have been in a more beautiful and perfectly suited place. The house absolutely fit our needs for cooking and created a fun environement for creativity and connection. We had the wedding to the north of the house in the Aspens and it was glorious. Many people said they'd never been to such a touching ceremony. Then we had plenty of room to play games, hike, and just lay around. In our busy world, this sanctuary offered people the chance to stop, relax, and truly enjoy nature and each other. I would and have been highly recommending it to my friends and colleagues. Thank you, thank you, thank you:)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our bridge group gets together annually for a long weekend to play bridge and see the local sights. This year we had 12 of us and the lodge worked out great for a group that size. The location is absolutely amazing with views of Pikes Peak and open ranch land. Loved the pine log table that could seat all 12 at once. Plenty of rockers to sit out on the deck and enjoy the Colorado weather. Lots to do in the area with Cripple Creek, Florissant Beds, and Woodland Park. Highly recommend the Thin Air melodrama production in Cripple Creek.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the lodge for the weekend of our wedding. Had the entire family stay in one house and then had a 75 person wedding ceremony and reception out in the field. Such a beautiful house and area! The porch is so big an accommodating that we were able to retreat inside and under the porch when it rained!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, girls getaway.

I've hosted two parties at this location. This is a beautiful, large log built lodge with great Southwestern decorating. Plenty of room, full kitchen, large grill outside, game room downstairs, bikes and outdoor equipment to use. Large flat screen with projector media to play video games and movies. Bonfire pit outside. This property is on a large tract of land with no neighbors around. Exceptionally quiet and peaceful. The staff will take great care of your party if you stay overnight. Perfect for wedding parties or retreats. Thsi place is modern and up to date. You won't be disappointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

An absolutely beautiful, comfortable, very well equipped lodge able to accommodate more than 20 people. A marvelous view of Pike's Peak, rustic, but luxurious furnishings, wi-fi and a huge barbecue. We recommend the Lodge without reservation for family reunions, retreats, weddings, business groups, training sessions, any event looking for an inspiring location, comfortable accommodations, and all the amenities. Right behind Pike's Peak, close to a number of state parks, countless hiking, biking trails, lakes, the old mountain gold mining towns and casinos, and beautiful, above the clouds scenery for all the sightseeing and fun anyone would want. The pictures are accurate. The Lodge is a great place. We have been there many times, and always enjoyed the stays. Plenty of good local restaurants, but also a complete, well-equipped kitchen and a huge table under an elk horn chandelier for large means--and of course, a barbecue for outdoor meals. Just a great place for any group.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Gary & Louis's Lodge was the only option for a phenominal 1st Birthday party for our daughter. We hosted about 29 guests which would not have been possible without the luxurious lodge and extensive attention to details we needed for the party. The Lodge had every utensil and widget we needed to bbq and serve a complete dinner without a hitch! The owners were gracious and kind enough to see that we had everything we needed. The accomodations were beyond compare and we had enough room for all the adults to mingle while kids were entertained in the recreation room with games and a pool table. We reccomend this location to everyone with any inclination to host a retreat or vacation in a location thats easy to reach in the shadows of Pikes Peak and freeway close to the Front Range. Thanks again! Our family with 22 members had a wonderful time at the Elk Mountain Lodge. It was perfect for our needs, a big kitchen and large table, lots of space, private bathrooms and plenty of space for food! The beds were so comfortable, the lodge was decorated in a warm and welcoming way. Everything was clean and in good working order. Gary met us to do a walk through and left us on our own. We all enjoyed the stay and look forward to coming back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The women in our local church held a fall retreat at the Lodge at Elk Valley, and we all were highly impressed with the sense of being a world apart from everything else! Though access to the property is so easy, the lodge and the beautiful land surrounding it are very private and quiet, and the view of Pikes Peak is unparalleled. The atmosphere of the lodge, with its wrap-around covered porch, authentic Rocky Mountain furniture, superior bed and bath linens, well-stocked kitchen, modern appliances and electronics, and tasteful western appointments throughout, was ideal for us. We all greatly enjoyed walking through the open meadows and golden aspen groves, the deep blue sky, campfires at night, and the sounds of owls hooting and elk bugling throughout the weekend. We have held retreats in other nice properties, but this property wins the prize for being overall best place for relaxing and refreshing! Our hosts were so accommodating and took personal interest in our comfort. We can't wait to return for another retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Your lodge was the perfect location for our mother's 80th birthday celebration. We had 17 family members ranging in age from 9 months to 80 and everyone had a fantastic time. There was so much for the 7 children to do that they didn't want to leave the cabin and see any of the other sights in the area!!! It was a great place for our entire family to reconnect and spend some quality family time and celebrate our mother's special day!!! We will be back for her 90th!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our 28 person team used the lodge for a one-day offsite. We were so refreshed by the beautiful setting, the lovely amenities at the lodge, the great family kitchen, and best of all.....the wrap-around porch! All four seasons would lend themselves well to the get-away feel of this property -- so close, yet far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Gary's lodge is perfect for large groups (10-24) in a beautiful Colorado Mountain setting. There are enough rooms for privacy, but your group is not spread out all over the place like a "camp setting". It was great having everyone under one roof, eating, meeting, praying and sharing together in a luxurious yet very practical setting. Your place wins hands down over all the other places we have used for our annual reunions. Thanks for the hospitality and very reasonable pricing ! Best wishes, The "Bethel Boys Band of Brothers"Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

My wedding day was on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Our family and friends are STILL talking about it months later! We invited everyone to stay for the entire weekend--all 25 of our guests. From the VERY beginning of our joyous event, the innkeepers Gary and Lois Sprague were attentive to every detail. We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday evening,(We used Cravings Catering--a complete wedding catering service for the weekend.), which included a FUN outdoor campfire organized by the Spragues. You cannot imagine the wonderful memories that were shared that night. Since the kitchen can accommodate large groups, everyone woke up to making their own breakfasts with fresh coffee. (We bought the food items ahead of time.) Most went out on the outdoor balcony to watch the beautiful sunrise with Pikes Peak in view. Our indoor wedding day was incredible. How do you describe one's feelings when immersed in fresh mountain air, sapphire blue sky, quaking aspens with majestic mountains framed in the background? You simply can't. We also had our wedding reception at The Lodge. The catering service simply moved the chairs and put up tables. This is what makes The Spragues so unique! They work with you. Another specialty is since The Lodge is surrounded by pine trees and aspens, our wedding and family pictures were taken outdoors. Our pictures are lovely! If you are planning your wedding, this is the place. What you receive with what you pay there are no comparisons to other facilities.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My wife and I have visited the Lodge, and stayed overnight, on several occasions. I can't think of a better place for a retreat, anniversary getaway, family reunion, or even a wedding !!! The house is large, well appointed, and very comfortable (It can sleep over 20 people)! It's very secluded and private, but you're only 5 or 10 minutes from town and shopping. The views are spectacular, and because of the high altitude and dry air, the days are almost always sunny, with cool evenings. There is hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and riding ATV's on site, or very close by. In addition, there are many other activities including water tubing, rock climbing, mountain biking, wildlife and bird watching, touring old mining sights/ghost towns, etc. The Colorado Springs area has a multitude of tourist sights as well, such as The Air Force Academy, the Olympic Training Center, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Glen Eyrie Castle, Focus on the Family, etc. I've traveled through most of the US and Canada, and I haven't found a vacation spot with a better combination of pleasant climate, beautiful location, and affordable price!Did you find this review helpful? Since 2006, The Lodge at Elk Valley has been my favorite place to spend a quiet, meditative weekend just about every other month. When I'm at The Lodge, I always find a quiet place under an aspen or on the wraparond porch. If I'm with friends, delicious meals are shared on the long pine table and fellowship is enjoyed in front of the fireplace in the inviting living room. (The beds are big and cozy so I never miss any sleep.) The staff is also very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend The Lodge for group activities or a weekend getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
