Step into a world of rest, relaxation and fun with this 5 bedroom, 3 ½ bath unique contemporary house on 1.27 acres of land and a pond rich in natural wildlife. Conveniently located off the highway on a cul-de-sac road in the old historic town of Orange.

It is less than 20 minutes from the cultural hub of downtown New Haven, internationally renown Yale University, University of New Haven, and an easy 1 ½ hour Metro North train commute from Grand Central Station in NYC. This is ideal for City dwellers looking for a nearby vacation getaway, or those visiting New England to sightsee, and enjoy the change of season at an easy relaxing pace.

The house is uniquely designed with an open, spacious floor plan, that includes hardwood floors, oversized picture windows, sliding glass patio doors, cathedral ceilings and skylights, a sunken living room, sunken family room, two large fireplaces, wet bar, conversation pit with TV, a garden patio, and two decks, one overlooking the pond and the other, a small yard that provides feeders, baths and nest sites attractive to songbirds.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the warm early morning sun on garden patio with the soft, soothing sound of the water flowing from the nearby stone wall fountain, or doze in the enclosed porch hammock that overlooks the pond and side garden. Swans, geese and ducks are year round residents along with occasional visits by a great blue heron, egret and sharp-shinned hawk.

Downtown New Haven hosts well known theatres, international restaurants, music centers, art galleries, museums and college sports arenas. Grassy Hill Country Club public golf course, one of several, is two minutes away, as is an open air farm market with fresh produce and fruit in the growing season.

Visit Ansonia Nature Center, the New Haven Sound School, or the Milford Audubon Society Nature Preserve, and learn about the indigenous woodland and water habitat; or bask in the sun, swim and collect shells along Long Island Sound beaches less than 10 minutes away.

Several biking and hiking trails are in the immediate area, and Boston Post Road offers a wide selection of major stores, with shopping malls and plazas lining the main road less than three miles away. Chapel Street in New Haven hosts unique boutiques along side small cafes. Planet Fitness and LA Fitness are also nearby. The Town of Orange also hosts festivals, carnivals, fairs and other major events throughout the year.

  • My fiancee and I rented Water's Edge as a home base for the bridal party for our North Haven wedding. The property is, quite simply, spectacular. The groomsmen and bridesmaids all raved about their accommodations--from the architecturally designed privacy that each couple felt in their bedrooms to the myriad assortment of beautiful birds that visited the feeders--everyone felt both awed and at home. I have rented other vacation homes before--cottages on Cape Cod, villas in St. John, condos at Sugarbush, and I'm happy to report that Water's Edge far surpasses them all in comfort, accommodation, and tranquility. It was the perfect home base for our wedding and is the perfect retreat for rediscovering that sense of inner peace that modern life so often strips from us.

  • We stayed in this beautiful 5BR house in Orange, CT at the beginning of June. The house itself is great, with all the amenities, but our favorite part about the stay was the surrounding property, with a lake, a large, gorgeous backyard, and a fantastic, multi-leveled deck facing the lake. What a great location for a gathering of friends or family! We would definitely (and plan to!) stay here again.

  • My family and I stayed at the Water's Edge and were amazed at how beautiful and tranquil it was. The home is lovely with lots of open space, and my children really enjoyed all the birds and birdfeeders at the house. Anna was always friendly and responsive. We would certainly visit again.

  • Water's Edge was the perfect getaway for a three young families. We were able to spread out and have our own spaces, but the layout also provided lots of large spaces to spend time together inside or out. The backyard provides a huge area for playing, relaxing or enjoying the company of friends. The home provided the perfect getaway for a group of old friends. Excellent in every way.

  • The Water's Edge was lovely: a spacious house with a very well equipped kitchen, fantastic outdoor decking, on a quiet street. Great for a family holiday and really impeccable as well as comfortable!
