This home is in a residential community and offers the amenities of a leisure vacation. A full kitchen is available for cooking as well as an outdoor grill. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses...the items you would find at home. There also is a washer and dryer for your cleaning needs. Stored in the laundry room are fishing rods and reels, beach chairs, pool toys, and an inflatable boat. Linens and towels are included. The two bedrooms each have a queen size bed, the sofa bed is also queen size, and there is a double size air mattress. The house easily accommodates 6 to 8 guests. As a residential community, Port Charlotte has a diverse number of activities including good restaurants, movie theater, shopping mall, many food markets, and a great library. You can also see local theater performances and during spring training baseball fans can enjoy many games at the sports complex now the spring training home of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Relax at Our Home and Beat the Cold: It can get cold in Port Charlotte but since we are below the frost line you can bet if it's cold here it's brutal up north. Many of our renters come just to get away from frigid, snowy, northern winter climates. And most of the time here it's pretty warm and sunny. The average high temperature for Port Charlotte in January is 75 while the average low is 52 (for more weather related information visit www.weather.com.) And...it doesn't snow here. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the snow, but only now and then and generally when our family wants to go skiing. But we also love to swim, beach comb, snorkel, and suntan.
Come Visit Gulf Coast Florida: The Gulf coast of Florida has a lot to offer. Warm weather, beautiful beaches, and lots of amenities. Visit gulf beaches that are easily accessible yet remote enough to attract abundant birds, dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, iguana, and other wildlife. And even though our home is not on the coast, much wildlife can be seen right at our door. At our saltwater canal front home we have seen dolphins, manatee, fish, and beautiful birds. We even have an osprey nesting in the area.
You can rent a boat, canoe, kayak, or sea-doo in the nearby town of Punta Gorda; charter a deep-sea fishing excursion; play a round of golf at one of several courses; drive to Everglades National Park; venture as far as Key West; or just stay home and relax by the pool. You get to decide. And while you're thinking about it you may like to fish from our small backyard dock.
Venturing Out: If you decide to venture out you can head southeast on Alligator Alley to Everglades National Park, Miami, or the Florida Keys. To see the only coral reef located in the US visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo to snorkel, scuba dive, or take a glass bottom boat tour. If you are really adventurous, go all the way to Key West. Drive one of the most scenic highways in the US, stop on the way and swim with the dolphins at Dolphins Plus before arriving at one of the most eclectic places in the US. Visiting Key West would require an overnight stay, but you may want to stay longer.
If you head in a northerly direction visit Sarasota (about 30 miles,) Venice (about 40 miles,) Tampa/St. Pete (about 70 miles,) or head on up to the Florida theme parks. Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World are at least three hours away (about 165 miles) so you'll want to stay over night.

Linda Kelsch has asked me to do a review for her house on Sunrise Trail. My wife and I have stayed there for March and April the past 2 years as well as the upcoming similar time period. My wife and I are snowbirds and this upcoming year will be our 5th year to be in FL. for March and April. The first 2 years we rented other houses but found this house after our first 2 years. Since then we have returned twice before plus the upcoming spring. The house fits our needs nearly perfectly for a number of reasons. The rental cost is priced within our budget and very fair in our opinion and from previous experience. It has the key amenities we were looking for, house on a canal with a boat dock, pet friendly, fenced back yard. Those were the 3 major amenities we needed as a base. Other things we enjoy are the large east facing lanai with a large covered area beside the pool. You have the sun in the morning when it is enjoyable and shade in the afternoon when it gets hot. The pool is very nice, heated,and but was not a necessity for us as we rarely use the pool. The kitchen is extremely well equipped which was important to my wife. The garage is really more of a workshop with tools and ample space to store stuff. We never used it as a garage for our car. The workshop is handy for me as boats always need work and I bring my boat. The house has WIFI, nice flat screen TVs with enough cable access for us. Laundry room is nice size and all appliance are good. House has 2 baths one with just a shower and the other with shower/tub combination. This is nice if you have guests as 2 couples can each have a private bathroom. The neighborhood is quiet and safe with about 1/2 the house occupied by snowbirds and the other half permanent residents. The houses on the street are pretty much the same size and age with no new construction. I would classify it as older typical Florida construction. There is a great grill on the lanai which we use quite a bit. The house overall is comfortably furnished but not extravagant or elegant. The owners Linda and Paul Kelsch have been super landlords and we have really appreciated their concern and attention to any issues we have had which have been very minimal, more questions than really issues. You will not find nicer people to work with. In summary the house and arrangement is everything we have needed and we have been very happy there or else we would not be coming back for our 3rd yearDid you find this review helpful? I heard from Linda Kelsch that you would like to know about her home in Port Charlotte. My husband and I have been coming here for three years now in January and February and we are very content with this house and it's location. Like most older homes, there are always a few kinks that need to be handled, but Linda is very responsive and always takes care of our needs. One of my favorite things is the way the sliding glass doors open a wall to the pool area and the covered lanai. If it's warm enough, that's where we'll be just reading and relaxing. If we get moving, we can easily travel to Naples or St. Armand's Circle for upscale shopping or just drive 5 minutes to Punta Gorda to visit trendy Fisherman's Village for shopping and great restaurants. We also like to go to Boca Grande for the secluded beaches which still remain secluded even though open to the public. There are lots of options for walking and biking either a short drive or right in the neighborhood. I would very much recommend this house.
