Map & Owner's Profile
Romantic Southwest Style Country House in the Heart of Taos
Year Purchased: 1998
Why the Owner Chose Taos
I bought these Guesthouses because they are next to my Gallery . People love to stay here and wish that they could stay longer. It's a crossover business where collectors and visitors who stay here also visit my Gallery. The location and the compound is absolutely charming.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
The Guesthouses are within walking distance to the Plaza, restaurants, galleries and museums. The most centrally located Guesthouses in town.
Blumenshein was the first painter to come to Taos in 1898 with his friend Phillips. The Wagon wheel broke down North of Taos and Blumenshein had to ride in by horseback. He formed the Taos Society of Artists. And his Home and Museum is located directly across from Inger Jirby Gallery and Guesthouses
The most famous American Indian Painter, R.C. Gorman's Navajo Gallery has been in existence for over 30 years. Is less than one block away from The Inger Jirby Gallery and Guesthouses.
Historic Taos Plaza is one block away, and houses many shops, galleries, museums and first class restaurants.
There are 15 or more fine dining restaurants within walking distance of the Guesthouses
Owner's Map of Taos
Inger Jirby's life has been as rich, dramatic and exotic as her art. She was born in the far north of Sweden, above the Artic Circle in Lapland, a place of blazing colors and great cultural traditions. I prefer to work outdoors on location. I love to interact with nature and Taos is a perfect place to do what I love the most. Taos, New Mexico has been a cultural center over a hundred years. New Mexico is the perfect place for a landscape painter and I am a landscape painter.

A Magical Visit

We have stayed at Inger Jirby Casitas on many different visits to Taos. Each visit was very special and each time we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The magic begins the moment you drive your car down Ledoux Street. You feel as if you are driving into a tiny historic village with all the comforts of home. The street has well known galleries and museums to enjoy during your stay in the casitas. As you step inside the door of the casitas, you step into a world that is filled with the color and magic that Inger has lovingly furnished them with. Inger's very own paintings hang on the walls. We immediately feel comfortable and enchanted when we walk through the door! We are once again immersed into the world of a very well known and colorful artist. Its hard to say which trip was the most memorable on Ledoux St. because two of them are so vividly etched into my mind. One was in the middle of a huge winter snow storm. The snow on the street with the adobe buildings looked like a Christmas card! As we walked through the falling snow to the plaza, which is only a block away, we were absolutely mesmerized. Its very easy to walk to cozy restaurants from this location because you are in the heart of Taos. The other trip that stands out in my mind is the one we made during the summer. Inger's sculpture garden was in full bloom with summer flowers. Across the street at the museum the gardens were dazzlihg. Both trips were spectaular! Even though you can walk anywhere in Taos within five to ten minutes, the casitas are incredibly quiet and peaceful to sleep in. I can highly recommend staying in these wonderful casitas, and they will always be my first choice in accomadations for any future visits to Taos.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
