The Clayton House is the most charming home available in downtown Whitefish and has been featured on the front page of the Whitefish Pilot and in Flathead Living. It was built around 1903 to be Whitefish's 'Southside' First Presbyterian Church. In later years it was converted into a beautiful house and remains that way today. It has been beautifully restored offering refinished, original wood floors, spacious bedrooms with queen beds in each room with the large master suite being on the main floor. There is granite and tile in the bathrooms, a fantastic fully outfitted kitchen with granite countertops and high end appliances, a nice dining room with antique hand made table, and a mud room entering from the back of the house with storage for your gear. There is also a washer and dryer so you can come in after a hard day of playing and get your things cleaned right up.
The location is perfect being just one block to Whitefish hotspots such as Mambo's, Loulas, Pescado Blanco, Swift Creek Cafe, 2nd Steet Pizza, The White room Ski Shop, Glacier Cyclery, and just 2 blocks to Central Ave., the Farmer's Market, Gallery Nights, the SNOW bus pick up and two of Whitefish's best parks on the Whitefish River. It is also located just down the street from Whitefish Lake Golf Club, which also offers cross country skiing in the winter, and The Wave Fitness Center. Hop on your bike and it's just a short ride on the bike path along Whitefish River to City Beach at Whitefish Lake. You'll love being able to get to and from the shops, restaurants, and all that Whitefish has to offer with such ease.
We've tried hard to provide everything you could need to make your stay as comfortable as possible and we think you will thoroughly enjoy your time spent in this charming home. Come spend some quality time in a quality home right in the heart of Whitefish.

We stayed at the Clayton House with our extended family over Christmas and New Year. It is a very nice house with three large bedrooms, a living room with a very nice fireplace and a great kitchen. It provides plenty of space. Very central location: 15 minute drive to the airport, only a couple of minutes walk to many restaurants and bars, 3 minute drive to Safeway and 10 minute drive to the slopes. Chap was super nice and helpful with everything. Overall I can highly recommend it as a holiday location and we would absolutely stay there again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind remarks. Just to clarify to potential future guests, the house is 4 bedrooms and not 3 as stated.

Just sorry we weren't able to stay longer. Our family of 7 adults scattered north, east and south, enjoyed Clayton House to celebrate our Christmas 2012 - it was the perfect location and provided an ideal sense of home away from home for us. Arriving from different areas and using different modes of transportation, we found this property made it easy for us to all meet and converge - within blocks of the Amtrak station, not far from the airport in Kalispell and easy to find driving in from up north. Restaurants, shops, grocery shopping, walking paths, ski shuttle were in close proximity. There was a wonderful warmth and a surprising spaciousness to the house - great beds and baths, a well appointed kitchen and cozy living room that allowed us to share the space and food preparation comfortably; everything we needed. The ski resort was not far so we were all able to enjoy some time on the slopes, as well as hiking and a variety of great eating establishments. I only hope we will be able to return in the future and perhaps enjoy Clayton House and Whitefish's offerings in the summer as well. Chap was most accommodating and kind and has a great thing going!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We came down to Whitefish to get some golfing in. The house was very nice, well furnished and comfortable. The house had everything you needed and the kitchen was stocked so you could cook if you wanted. The beds and bathrooms were great and plenty large. The location was awesome. All the shops were within minutes of walking. Owners were helpful and prompt with responses to questions. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're coming to Whitefish.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My girlfriend and I stayed here with another couple for a week of fun in/around Whitefish. This home is literally seconds from downtown Whitefish where you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, etc. In addition, it is very close to hiking, rafting, lakes, ziplining at Whitefish resort, and many other activities. Well worth renting, especially if you have 4 couples. Can't beat location/value.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our son's wedding brought us to Whitefish this summer and we stayed at the Clayton House. The house met our needs in every way; it was the perfect size, location and layout. Our elderly parents stayed with us and although the house has stairs; a bedroom and everything else they needed was available on the ground floor. The location was perfect, within walking distance of stores and restaurants. The neighbourhood is very friendly and welcoming. One of favorite memories is sitting out on the front deck drinking our morning coffee and enjoying the surroundings. We found the owner of the property friendly and helpfull. We were very happy with the house and thought it made our stay in Whitefish memorable.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

We had a wonderful stay at Clayton House. We were seven adults, all family members, and fit very nicely into the house...although we seemed to spend most of our time out on the front porch, enjoying the cool summer mornings, watching the world go by. Having the house so close to restaurants, shops, a market, even a brewery, meant that we could all hang together or wander independently, without fussing about a car. The house has an old-fashioned charm combined with clean, new furnishings. A great house in a great spot.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The Clayton house is great for a family get together. Full bathrooms are large, master is on first level. Kitchen is well appointed - blender, mixer, baking dishes, mixing bowls, etc. for those who want to cook. Washer, dryer, hair dryer. Very nice linens. Comfy beds. Very clean. Location was great - we loved it for both exploring the park and enjoying Whitefish. Everything in town is within 2-3 short blocks. Owner is very accessible and helpful. We were very happy with our choice.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
