We rented the house for a weekend golf trip and it was a great find. The remodel of the house is great location is fantastic and the 4br and 2bath worked great for our golf outing. The owner was easy to deal with and overall would highly recommend.

We stayed at the Clayton house over the weekend - we were very impressed with the place. It's much larger than it looks from the outside, and has been nicely renovated while maintaining a heritage home feel. It comfortably slept 8 adults in the 4 bedrooms. It was really nice to be within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and pubs as well! Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Clayton house for the weekend and had a great time. Te location is fantastic and we were able to walk everywhere and not have to worry about driving or waiting for a ride. The snow bus stop was also only a few blocks away so going to and from the hill was very easy and convienient! I would definitly recommend staying here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in March 2012. Our two families (parents and four adult kids) found it very roomy and comfortable. Gathering around the fireplace in the evening, après ski, was very “cozy”. Being a “scratch-cook” I really enjoyed the kitchen. The large granite countertops were a joy to fill with produce and items purchased within a couple blocks. With lunches packed, we enjoyed the scenic 20 minute drive up to Big Mountain to be thrilled with the mountainous piles of powder. Great to shower afterward, eat home-cooked meals and flop in the luscious beds! Tip: Best Caesars in town at the Great Northern!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Clayton House from January 24 to January 29. The house was delightful and very comfortable. We had two families in our group and each bedroom was used. One family used the second floor bedrooms and the other family used the main floor bedroom. The beds and bathrooms were great, the kitchen was the best equiped kitchen I have ever used in a rental, and the entire home was spotless when we arrived. With all of that, the very best part was working the owners. The owners were so pleasant and very promptly responded to our questions when we couldn't figure out switches or lights. We loved the older home feel that the owner took care to save when the home was remodeled. From the outside the home initially looked small for 8 people, but once inside it was much larger then it appeared from the outside front. We had plenty of room and play space for people to be together or to be apart for quiet time. The location allowed us easy walks to town for groceries, massages after days of skiing, and an evening drink or dinner. It is also a short easy drive to the ski slopes at Whitefish and a little longer drive to Glacier National Park. We definitely would stay at Clayton House in the future and will recommend it to others.

We were fortunate to stay at the Clayton House for two weeks in January, 2012. It was the perfect location and a precious home. The home was all that was described and more! I fell in love with the charm of the house and the perfect location. We walked to dinner every night to one of the many delightful restaurants in Whitefish. Our granddaughters caught the SNOW bus just blocks away for skiing every day on Big Mountain. All the descriptions and the directions for getting the key, getting checked in, and making ourselves at home were most efficient and helpful. Not one bump in the road! The home was sparkling clean and in readiness when we arrived~~truly a delightful experience. Our entire two weeks was made all the more enjoyable because of the wonderful accommodations, a delightful owner with whom to work, and the absolute best location in Whitefish!! Definitely a place we would return in a heartbeat! The Meadows from Mississippi

We drove from Arizona to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary with our grown children. Our stay (1 Sept-8 Sept) could not have been better. The house is wonderful both in furnishings, comfortable beds, cleanliness, well stocked and being close to everything. We had planned on eating out but the kitchen was so comfortable to cook in we wound up eating all our meals at the house. We all agreed we would like to come back again soon. Oh yes--an added bonuse was sitting on the porch watching the deer and squirrels coming into the yard to eat apples that had fallen from the trees!

The Clayton house is like a brand new, fresh, breezy, upscale cottage. The whole place is immaculate, inside and out. It’s such a great place for a get away, we can’t recommend it highly enough. The kitchen is superb but with such fine dining nearby we didn’t use it much (darn!) We loved the location, so convenient. The nearby shops have a great deal of variety for all tastes and budgets. We had so much fun we didn’t want to leave… We hope to come back again…soon...very soon… Thank you Chap, you made renting on VRBO very easy!

We just returned from a fabulous week at The Clayton House. It is in a great location - walking distance to really good restaurants (loved Loula's (went here 3 times for breakfast), Pescado Blanco, Ciao Mambo and the homemade ice cream shop a block away) and Glacier Park (30 minutes by car). Loved the front porch, well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds (and nice, soft sheets) and big bathrooms (great shower). Would stay here again in a heartbeat....actually already dreaming of coming back next year.

This is the second summer in a row that I have stayed at the Clayton House and I hope to stay again next year. The location is unparalleled with walking access to downtown Whitefish and a short drive to Big Mountain, Whitefish Lake, and all of the golf courses in the Valley. The house has lots of charm and the kitchen/bathrooms/family room are soooooo much better than what you'll find in a hotel. Our favorite feature is the front porch, where you can read the paper with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or have a glass of wine and people watch in the afternoons and evenings (be on the lookout for a very eccentric cowboy who walks the neighborhood in the mornings and evenings).

My twin boys 10 years old, my 70 plus year old parents and I (40ish) stayed in this great house for week in the summer of 2011. It's walking distance to everything in-town so my parents could check out everything on foot and lots of room in and around the house for my kids to run. The owners were super helpful when I called to tell them about maintenance issues. There is even central A/C for hot summer days although it takes awhile for the upstairs rooms to cool off. I'd definitely rent this property again!

Our book club of 7 ladies recently spent a wonderful weekend at Clayton House. The home is beautifully and tastefully updated. We found the home to be much larger that it appeared from the outside, lots of room for us all, and very comfy beds. The location was very convenient for walking to shopping and restaurants. We ate very well! The owner was extremely accomodating and made many recommendations of local places to go. Loved the big swing on the front porch, would love to return in warmer weather and spend some time in it with a book watching the world go by........

Our family of five...four adults and a four year old child stayed in the Clayton House during the Winter Carnival week. This is a great vacation rental...everything you need is in the house and you can walk to great restaurants and shopping in downtown Whitefish. It snowed everyday we were there and the temperature was in the single digits but we were very comfortable in the house. The fireplace is a nice touch and the 2 1/2 bathrooms make it easy for everyone to get dressed and ready for the day. It was nice to find a fully equipped update kitchen. The owner was so easy to deal with and everything was ready for us when we arrived.

We stayed at the Clayton House Dec. 3rd thru Dec. 6th. The house was beautiful and easily accommodated all eight of us. We found the owners to be very helpful. They even left maps in the house with the best places to eat highlighted. Everything we needed was within walking distance. We definately recommend this property and the snow at Big Mountain!!!

This is truly a fabulous make over of a Historic Church in downtown Whitefish,, Mt. The owners have really outdone themselves in this operation. It is also beautifully decorated and furnished. The kitchen and baths have been totally redone in granite and beautiful woods. Also lovely re-cycled wood flooring. Very conveniently located in downtown Whitefish, near Whitefist Mountain Resort and Glacier National Park. The owners were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. We really enjpyed the front porch with a swing and rockers! Thank you for allowing my family this truly enjoyable and relaxing vacation

We had a fantastic two-week stay at The Clayton House. The location is perfect - all the benefits of town (good places to eat, good ice cream, fun festivals at Depot Park - all within an easy walk), but close enough to Glacier that we could spend multiple days hiking. The house is tastefully decorated and well-equipped and the kitchen is fantastic. We wish we could have spent the entire summer here.

Our family had a most enjoyable week at this very nice and well furnished home. An excellent location for exploring and for our various activities, e.g. downhill and cross country skiing and local events. Also walking distance to train station and museum, restaurants, shopping and shuttle. Owners were friendly and helpful.

Our stay at the Clayton house was awesome! It is so close to downtown that everything (including the snow bus!) was a stone's throw away. The house is beautifully renovated. It was nice to stay in a home with such a rich history. Our group included nine people and we still had plenty of space. Both bathrooms are massive and nicely re-done. Same goes for the kitchen. We will definitely try and stay at the Clayton House again in our future trips to Whitefish!

What a great place! The renovations on the house are first rate and the furnishings very tasteful. You have thought of everything from a huge supply of kitchen utensils to wireless internet to providing a decorated christmas tree! I highly recommend the Clayton house for its great location (walk to dining, shopping, bars) and its warm and cozy feel. We had six of us in the house and had plenty of room. We will be back. We have enjoyed our five nights at The Clayton House. Being able to enjoy sustained time with our entire family has been important during this time in our lives. The size of this home was comofortable and the number of bedrooms made it possible for us to stay here. You are correct in the convenience of this house to downtown. We were able to walk to shopping and eateries. It was also a convenient launch to Big Mountain. Our family hopes to gather in Whitefish again. Two military members are headed out to deployments, so it's hard to say how soon we will all be together again. The Clayton House has truly offered us a priceless holiday experience. Thank you.....George and Joleen Barce....Polson, MT.

Great house for a family of five-plenty of room - and warm considering it's been below zero degrees everyday this week. LOVED the wirelss internet-a must! We got a lot of work done. Thanks for such a great house to stay in!.....The Wrights....Portland, OR.
