SKI New Mexico this winter from the solid comfort of our great new vacation home.

And plan your next Spring, Summer and Fall vacations for great FLY-FISHING and FLOATING (rafting & kayaking) in our cozy canyon house!

This is a beautiful new 2,000 sq ft "Santa Fe style" house in the river canyon between Santa Fe and Taos. Located in an historic apple orchard along the Rio Grande in Rinconada, New Mexico, near Dixon and Embudo, this property is a dream house with a private beach along the river - perfect for fishing, floating and relaxing. This green, tree-filled property is only 20 miles from Taos and 45 miles from Santa Fe, close to all the wonderful museums, shops, restaurants and galleries you love.

Recreation: The property is located on the "Bosque" section of the "Wild & Scenic River" stretch of the Rio Grande, just below the "Race Course" rafting section below Pilar, NM.

- Rafting & Kayaking: Raft or kayak the famous and fun Race Course and float right to your own beach. Or start at the house and float down to Embudo.

- Fly-Fishing: Our home is a prime fisherman's holiday on the Rio Grande itself and within a dozen Rocky Mountian trout streams, both blue ribbon catch-an-release and open fishing. The fishing is great on this stretch of the river; you can fish from shore or wade right in. This 15-mile stretch of the Rio Grande offers some of the finest trout fishing in New Mexico.

- Skiing: The house is near Taos (fantastic, steep skiing) and less than an 1.5 hours to SIX of New Mexico's prime ski areas (Taos, Santa Fe, Angel Fire, Red River, Sipapu, and Enchanted Forest).

The House: This new house has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms and comfortably sleeps 6 to 8. The upstairs master suite includes a queen bed, a private balcony with views of the river canyon across the orchards, and a stone-tile bathroom with a lovely deep bath tub below corner windows with magnificent views of sky and canyon.

Two downstairs bedrooms are spacious and cozy; one has a queen bed, the other has two twin beds. A queen-sized sleeper sofa is located in the living room for additional sleepers. The spacious Great Room has high ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and is beautifully furnished. It opens to a full kitchen with granite counter tops and all appliances, and onto a patio ("portal") -- a great outdoor living and eating area. The house also has a large laundry room with washer & dryer, and a two-car carport.

With easy access to Santa Fe, Taos, and all the rural artist studios of northern New Mexico, this brand new house offers convenient, cozy and reasonable accommodations for your group in a classic northern New Mexico setting. It is a beautiful and comfortable property for all seasons and moods. We welcome you to our little bit of heaven along the Rio Grande in New Mexico!

We had a wonderful experience. We were greeted promptly with personal attention to our questions. The house and grounds are immaculate. The location was close to many attractions and ski resorts. Very roomy and spacious-absolutely perfect. We made great use out of the kitchen and laundry/mud room. We will definitely be back!

We spent 6 wonderful days here in September. The house sits in the middle of an apple orchard and all the trees were laden with apples begging to be enjoyed. It was a short walk down to the river where there were stone steps leading down into the Rio Grande. The house itself is lovely, comfortable and hard to leave. It has all the amenities and is beautiful and warm. If you are vacationing in this part of New Mexico, I highly recommend choosing El Nido Del Rio Grande as your landing place. It is a 25 minute drive up to Taos, there is a white water rafting company, New Mexico River Adventures, almost across the street which offers half day, full day and over night rafting trips, two wineries Vivac and La Chirapada, Blue Heron, a great brewery, and in Dixon, don't miss eating breakfast at Zuly's. Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings - can't wait to go back.

Excellent accommodations for our family of six. Our two grandchildren loved swimming in the Rio Grande a short walk through the apple orchid. The location allowed short easy field trips to interesting places like Penasco, High Road to Taos, Angel Fire, Los Alamos, and Bandalier National Park. The house is well furnished especially the kitchen, both bathroom with large soaking tubs and the upstair bathroom has large shower in a spacious bathroom. The porches upstairs and downstairs provide outdoor enjoyment watching apples drop, hummingbirds flit, approaching storms and stars twinkle, We did not mind being without TV. There is a library of games , music and videos to enjoy after dinner in a comfortable living room. A restful hideaway right off HWY 68 ; traffic becomes quieter at night as the coyotes begin to howl.

This house was a wonderful location for our New Mexico stay. We were close enough to both Taos and Santa Fe for day trips. There is a little brewery just down the road where we convened each afternooon for happy hour on the patio. Also a winery close. Fishing, float trips, and hiking all within a short distance. We scheduled a float trip on a gentle section of the river that worked great for the 3-year-old and the 88 year-old in our party. Picked apples from the orchard and fried them for breakfast. One day we made an apple gallette to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The kitchen was great for cooking and sharing meals. Everything we needed was ready and waiting for us whether we needed a base for adventuring or a comfortable, quiet place to relax. Excellent place for a group but it would also be nice for a romantic weekend for a couple.Highly recommended. Eat at Jully's in Dixon and then at the Sugar Nymphs in Penasco. Guadalajara Grill in Taos is always good. For a special night head up to Arroyo Seco for dinner at Sabrosos or ice cream at the Taos Cow. Take the back road along the Rio Grande and then up onto the mesa crossing the Rio Grande bridge from west to east and into Taos for an incredible drive - partly dirt road but very drivable. Watching the sky at night from the deck is pretty amazing as well.

We stayed here 3 weeks and loved every minute. The house is beautiful, well stocked and very private. Great kitchen and comfy bedroom, beautiful bathrooms. Great property to walk to the river and drive to tons of hiking. Our 11 year old son had a blast with all the activities. Our dog fit right in and loved the area as well. We would recommend this place to anyone seeking relaxation and plenty of options for exercise and things to do. The best hike we found was near the santa barbara campground, within 35 min from the house. We also took advantage of the enchanted circle this is beautiful country. We frequently went into Taos and Santa Fe and enjoyed the drive. The owner happened to be there during our stay and he is great, so accommodating and kind.

This house was just beautiful and private! We had everything we needed for cooking and laundry and plenty of linens. the patio was lovely and relaxing. The master bath upstairs makes this great for a pair of couples who want privacy or families. The location is 20-25 minutes from Taos or Espanola for groceries. Other sightseeing experiences are close as well as whitewater rafting within a mile. A couple of wineries and a brewery are close too! The house location at the river is good for fishing and bird watching and teenagers for swimming. We took our toddler grandkids upriver 1 mile to the rafting take-out for playing in the shallows. Gene (the owner) was hospitable and great to work with. A good time was had by all!

The house is beautiful and well cared for. The layout is very convenient for families and couples traveling together. Good location...easy access to the main highway. House had everything we needed and only 20 minutes from town to Walmart grocery or 25 to Taos for touristy stuff. Went bird watching along the river...lots of activity! Bank section of river on the property was not good for small children but it was only 1 mile to a rafting take-out where the kids were safe and had fun in the shallow. Fishing was decent although the "big one" got away! My transactions with Gene (the owner) were very professional. A good time was had by all of us...4 adults and 2 toddlers.

The El Nido rental is our favorite place to go for a getaway from Santa Fe. It is special to have a private beach and slice of the Rio Grande River to enjoy in the beautiful high desert of New Mexico. We especially enjoy all of the wild life we’ve seen along the river including eagles, otters, fireflies, bullfrogs, coyotes, hawks, ducks, swifts, bats and more. It is all magical whether we’re swimming, rafting or fishing during the day or telling good stories and cooking by fire at night. Our dogs have taken to the water like natural born swimmers. They and we love to ride the current downstream – kind of like surfing. The house is a well-designed new home that is spacious and cozy at the same time. It comes equipped with all of the amenities of home including a beautiful kitchen open to the living room and porch, fireplace, spacious bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room. Taos and Santa Fe are an easy drive for anyone wanting to experience our enchanting New Mexico culture. We highly recommend this house for anyone coming to visit Northern New Mexico.

The El Nido property is a wonderful opportunity to explore the beauty of Northern New Mexico. Nestled in an apple orchard alongside the Rio Grande, you can kick back and listen to the birds as you relax in the hammock by the river, explore trails alongside the river, swim in the river, watch the river - you get the idea - a perfect retreat from the stress of daily routines. If you feel the urge to actually leave the property you can explore nearby Taos or Santa Fe as well as points in between. The house has everything you need - from a well equipped kitchen, to a spacious master bedroom with jacuzzi, outdoor grill, lounge chairs, and a river ambiance that's hard to beat. We had a wonderful visit and heartily recommend the property - it is suitable for everyone from a couple looking for a secluded romantic weekend to a large family gathering & your dogs will have an unforgettable time swimming in the river!
