The neighborhood is equally splendid. Armory Park began as a military plaza in downtown Tucson, but when the Transcontinental RailRoad reached Tucson in 1920, the area transformed into a residential area inhabited by prominent RailRoad executives, affluent entrepreneurs, & working-class people. The neighborhood became a mix of Victorian, Tudor, Queen Anne, Spanish Colonial, Mission, & bungalow-style structures.
This historical building, built in 1903, is located just blocks from the Tucson Community Center, downtown businesses & government buildings, the railroad station, the hub for Tucson's bus system, and three culturally-rich historic neighboring districts filled with homes, museums, live theatre, shops, restaurants and churches. Downtown Tucson offers an historical mix of contrasting cultures. The building was built as a 4-plex in the early 1900s by the railroad company, and its interior (tall windows, transoms, crown moldings, ceiling fans, hardwood floors & 10-foot ceilings) provided a perfect backdrop for a mix of Southwest, Mission, Old West and Mexican decor. Renovations were designed for modern comfort only (air conditioning, etc., as care was taken to preserve the old-world charm that makes the property unique.
The building is located in Armory Park and boasts a mix of Victorian, Tudor, Queen Anne, Spanish Colonial, Mission and bungalow-style structures. It is just blocks from the Tucson Community Center, downtown businesses & government buildings, and three culturally-rich historic neighboring districts filled with homes, museums, live theatre, shops, galleries, restaurants and churches. The new trolly picks up around the corner, and connects the neighborhood with the 4th Avenue Arts District, U of A Main Campus and the University Medical Center. There are organized walking tours of these areas, and Tucson's Downtown YMCA is only blocks away.
In 2005, we combined "forces" and began renovating "nice" residential properties in fantastic locations, creating truly unique vacation retreats. Carl's life-long career as a custom builder allowed us to create true vacation environments without the restraint of custom labor costs. Each unique room offers eye-fulls of special details and furnishings, with careful attention given to comfort and charm.
