We go home tomorrow-back to Cleveland, Ohio. Back to over a foot of snow and the temperatures well below freezing. We sat on the chaise lounges tonight and watched the full moon shinning over th ocean and wondered how we can we possibly leave? How do you leave paradise? When we first arrived in Cancun, we were excited, but also nervous. New country, different language, navigating and driving in Mexico (a ral challenge), just little things you get used to in your own little corner of the world. But Isla Escape has become our new little corner of the world. A peaceful, tranquil, beautiful heaven. Kim, you guys have been gracious and patient with all of our questions. Margarita and Ishmael are very hard workers and always with a smile. Juan made us feel safe and protected. Bozo and Tina made us not miss our little dog at home so much. We leave tomorrow, but a piece of our hearts will always be here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

A wonderful home and great hosts! Margarita cooked us dinner one night, delicious and a very reasonable price. Her housekeeping is the top rate! The collectives (local mini buses) are amazing, just stand on the highway a short walk from the cottage and they stop, and our minium wait under 2 minutes, and the fare was 25 pesos each. Juan, the security guard is very nice and is patient teaching us Spanish. He likes coke, chcolate, if you have some to spare, must help him stay awake all night. We had a wonderful week! Thank you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Can it really be time to go? It seems as thoguh we only just arrived! After looking over from next door villa on our last stay in Akumal, we could only imagine how perfect this hideaway might be. Kim, we can say it is PERFECT! Everything you have planned is thoughtful and added to our relaxation and enjoyed this amazing paradise! 25 C Akumal versus -2 C in London! It was a fantastic week awayy from unusual cold and snow of the UK in a fantastic location. We loved the house and the welcoming pack. It was great to be able to live without a car-walking along the beach to Akumal Turtle Bay Cafe was our favourite and happy hour until 6:30 pm in the beach side bar! And catching the amazingly efficient collections to Tulum and Play and DosOjos Cenotes which did a great snorkel tour. Our biggest thanks to margarita for cleaning up our daily mess! And Ishmael for his smiles and helping us to book a taxi in Spanish. Maybe, one day we will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our stay at Isla Escape was nothing short of perfection! Your house is such a wonderful home for exploring teh treasure and the Riviera Maya. We deeply appreciate all the samll details, especially the food and wine in our first evening here! We so enjoyed getting to know you. We also cannot say enough about Ishmael and Margarita, both of whome went above and beyond, they were lovely to make our stay so perfect. The day our girls spent with rachel and Sara was the highlight of the trip. We cannot wait to return! Thank you for letting us stay at the wonderful, fabulous home! Snorkelling was the best and the ocean had so much to explore.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our week at this cottage was nothing short of perfection. We thought long and hard about renting a house (versus staying at a hotel) and could not have been happier with our choice. Small touches - a bottle of wine and a few food items in the fridge upon arrival, the friendliness of the owners, the wonderful service of the housekeeper and gardener, and the lovely charm of the cottage, and an ideal setting on a quiet part of the beach - all made this a vacation to remember. The location is also ideal - close enough to walk to the lovely village of Akumal or a short drive for dinner to Tulum. Lots of great cenotes in the area, and YalKu lagoon for snorkeling. A perfect cottage for a small family or couple. We were so sad to leave and can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

So, this is my third time writing in this guestbook. It is always nice to know Isla Escape is here for me when I want a beach from the "real world". It was so nice to lie around, hang out with family, and enjoy the hospitality of the local people. Ishmael, Margaritas and their daughters are also especially nice and hospitable. I am ready to go home now, but next time when I come back, it will be just as wonderful, thank you for a lovely vacation. Like my sister said, it is our third time here, and once again, I have thoroughly, enjoyed myself, it was nice having my whole family with me while I relaxed, and took pleasure in the beach surrounding, here at Isla Escape. Each year, I find myself looking forward to coming here. Once again, time has passed by so fast in paradise! All is so beautiful, peaceful and friendly. This has been our third time here, and hopefully, we will return many more! Thanks again for truly memorable vacation. Our family looks forward to it all year long! Until next time! Best wishes & thank you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We have been coming to Akumal several years and we have stayed in several casas, Isla Escape is by far our favourite. We will be back god willing, when we got here it was late at night, and raining, Ismael & Margarita were waiting for us with smiles with unmbrellas. The groceries in the refrigerator were awesome. The fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling were fantastic! Maybe someday, we will be neighbors, someday!! Thanks again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This lovely casita exceeded all my expectations. The location was fantastic, with the town of akumal an easy 10 minute walk along the beach in one direction and beautiful, often deserted beach to walk along and explore in the other direction. The property was immaculate due to the very pleasant couple who maintained the house and garden. The owner was incredibly accommodating securing a masseuse and private chef for one of the days we were there. (the private chef, ricardo, cooked the most delicious 4 course meal for us which we enjoyed on the outdoor terrace while listening to the waves crashing). The terrace became a favored spot for breakfast and lunch and was a great place to escape the rain which fell two mornings we were there. It was nice to still be able to enjoy the outdoors and see the ocean. We did not rent a car and found it very easy to walk or catch public transportation to get around. The travel agency in Akumal was a great resource for securing transportation back to the airport. It was so hard leaving this tropical paradise. It felt very private but not at all remote. This was by far one of the best homes i have rented.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

There are no words that do this beautiful, private space justice. We loved it--and would return in a second. Our vacation in this charming cottage was true gift to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Everything that the owners say is true and more!! It is truly beautiful and offers incredible respite and a place a-part for those who cherish quiet (as we did)--yet there are ample opportunities for those who wish to explore too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Isla Escape honours it's name. Here nothing is missing to realize your wish to escape hectic life and completely rewind. We have enjoyed our 10 day stay in December under a stark blue sky and with the sound of the nearby ocean very much. The Cottage is realy complete, clean, very well maintained and located in beautiful nature a few steps away from a clean beach that appeared to be a very popular jogging area. Diving opportunities and a popular snorkeling site, a variety of restaurants and shopping, all at beach-walking distance. We enjoyed the privacy of the garden and the beachfront so much that we hesitated to go out. Tulum and Playa del Carmen nearby, two places with a total different character and worthwile to hang around. We have found Isla Escape totally in accordance with what is advertised on Homeaway and the IslaEscape website. The owners, who live next door, were a real asset, kind and caring. We loved Isla Escape and would recommend everybody to consider the beauty of this place. The cottage is small and is in our opinion comfortable for maximum four persons and OK for kids as well.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This charming casita was beyond our expectations. 4 busy moms were looking for a respite and adventure. The property is more lovely than the pictures could show and is maintained beautifully. The owners next door were kind and helpful as were the maid and gardener. The hammock was seldom empty and views of the water from every corner of the property. We seldom spent time inside except to sleep as the outdoor room covered by palapa and lounges by the ocean served us well. We enjoyed grilling vegetables bought at the local market on the outdoor grill. Terrific location for a swim, snorkel and siteseeing. Would recommend this highly and hope to return!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
