The Wonderful Lakeside Retreat on Lake Shasta was acquired in 2008, totally renovated and new to the vacation rental market as of June 2009.
The property is a very roomy 2,000 s.f. family vacation rental on a third of an acre lot, with a game room in the garage and an on-site (off the street) easy access boat or trailer pad. This completely renovated and remodeled resort house is located in the quaint community of Lakehead and backs to Shasta Trinity National Forest Land with a private gate to the Forest Service trail directly to the Lake. There is nothing between you and the Lake except your desire to get there!
The house sleeps 10 in very comfy beds in bedrooms and can accommodate additional deluxe queen air mattresses (provided) in the master suite and the living room area as well as tents in the back yard.
Large shaded private deck looks directly into the forest and the lake cove behind the property (lake view is dependent upon time of year and level of lake but Lake Shasta is always HUGE no matter what the level!). Patio area is set up for outdoor meals or relaxing with table, chairs, bar, ice chest and barbeque.
You can tie your boat to the shore or rent a slip and transport to our built- in off-street pad. Don’t have a boat? Plenty of reasonable rentals for everything from jet-skis, ski boats, fishing boats and patio boats are available locally. Don’t want a boat? Relax by the shore in a lounge chair, floats on the warm water in a quiet cove or fish.

Responsible renters must be at least 25 years old and present on the property during the rental period. Well behaved dogs are welcome with an additional deposit (leash laws are enforced in the community). This is a Non-smoking house but there are designated areas to smoke outside.

Why the Owner Chose Lakehead
We choose this property because my sister and I grew up in this same area on beautiful Shasta Lake and we always wanted to have a permanent residence where we could stay and share with other family members. When this property came on the market in 2008 we knew it would be perfect for our needs and we could share this great vacation experience with other families as well.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There are only a few vacation rentals on the Lake that actually border Forest Service property with a direct trail to the Lake and our property is one of them. You can tie your boat to the shoreline and walk from the house to access the Lake. Our property has its own private gate directly to the Forest Service trail directly to the water's edge. Our property also has an off-street pad that will accommodate a large truck and trailer and driveway parking for other vehicles. We have converted the garage into a gameroom with a pool/ping pong table and other games. The entire property has been remodeled, decorated, landscaped and set up to provide every convenience for a relaxing, fun vacation.

Hi, my name is Karen DuBois and our vacation rental is a family owned and operated property. We are avid outdoor enthusiasts and relaxation specialists and have always loved Lake Shasta and all the wonderful surrounding areas. My parents moved to the Lake in 1972 and my Mom still lives in Lakehead.

What a great place to spend with friends and family. There was plenty of room for 3 families and a dog. Karen provided everything you might need just like home. The cove was great for just hanging out on rafts and playing in the water. We even had the pleasure of meeting Karen's Mom, brother-in-law, nephew, and niece. (thanks again for all the help!) Would recommend this great vacation home to all.

Hi Karen, Hope you're having a good summer. Wanted to inquire about your home's availability this year to rent again. We had such a great time last year, we can't imagine staying anywhere else! We'd be looking at the weekend after Labor Day for 3 nights. Arriving Thursday, Sept 9, and departing Sunday, Sept 12. Can you confirm the availability that weekend, and the rate? Hi Karen Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time in Shasta, couldn’t of asked for a better vacation home. It was so roomy there was nothing more we could of asked for. The location is great, the access to the lake was awesome, we felt totally safe leaving the boat on the lake unattended. We enjoyed meeting your mom, she is so sweet. We are from Southern Ca and had a 10 hour drive to our Lake Shasta destination, so our expectations were set high. The house was perfect! Karen thought of everything. Anytime we would think we would need something that we didn't bring, guess what Karen had it stocked some where in the house we could not believe it! We had 3 families there and were perfectly comfortable. The water level was perfect. We spent every day wake boarding, tubing and skiing and ended our day just hanging out in the cove. We were able to launch and keep our boat in the cove all week. One day we saw a family of deer come down to drink from the lake, we got pretty close to them and they didn't even scare away... the kids thought that was great! One of the dads took some of the early rising kids to breakfast at the Lakeshore restaurant down the road, they rode bikes there a couple of times and we all walked to the Basshole for taco Tuesday dinner one night. We went to the Caverns one morning and were glad we did...They were amazing and we learned a little about how Lake Shasta was created, we were all very interested in that story. Pick up your discount coupons at the Basshole if you go to the Caverns :) We also brought a 750 piece puzzle that we worked on every day and finished before our trip was over that was neat too! We have to say usually after a week together with other families you are typically ready to go home, This trip we were not it was truly an amazing vacation and the vacation house could not have been any better! Thanks Karen for sharing your home with us we truly appreciate it and will cherish our memories there.

We stayed at this property last weekend. We had two families, total of 12 people and felt like we had lots of room. The kitchen is great! Lots of space to prepare meals. Everything is very clean, which I loved! The water level in the cove was pretty low so we couldn't tie our boat up..darn. The kids loved having the ping pong and pool tables. We all had a great time!

My family and some friends stayed here in June and the place was great We had 14 in our party and felt like we could have had more and still feel like we had lots of room. We also had our two dogs and the fenced yard provided a shady, secure place for them to hang out.The rooms are all large and spacious and the furnishings very nice and comfy. The kitchen is very well equipped and has so much counter space that there can be about four people all preparing food at once without stepping all over each other. The bedrooms all had nice linens and blankets on the beds and there were plenty of towels to go around and we never ran out of hot water. We also appreciated the washer and dryer.The best thing was that the lake is just a few steps out of the back yard gate and we brought our boat and tied it up to the shore just below the house. We then brought our truck and trailer back to the house and parked it in the yard on the pad. We spent a lot of time on the boat and just floating in the cove and playing. At night we played pool and ping pong, watched movies and hung out on the patio. One night we also went to a live band over at the local resort and danced all night. Lots of fun!The weather was great too. We will definitely be back and were proud to be some of the first guests to use this new vacation rental.Jacque Bryant
