Rome vacation

Guest: Randy (Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada)
Date of Stay: 09/21/11 Review Submitted: 10/16/11

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 8 nights in September 2011 we we loved it. The apartment is spacious and the location is perfect. The Camp De Fiori is just steps away but it is quite noisy at night (bring earplugs). The air conditioner didn't work well when we were there so the aprtment was quite warm at night. The bed and fold-out sofa really need to be replaced. For the location, this apartment is a decent value for the money.

Owner response:Hello, thank you for the review. Thanks also for the advice about air conditioning and pull out sofa bed. I like to inform you that everything is ok now. Best regards

Rome

We enjoyed our stay at the Librari Flat in Rome. The location was excellent but as posted in early posts was a bit loud. The location description was correct and the photos were accurate. There was construction going on and the motorcycles that drive down the street at all hours may keep someone awake. I would highly recommend bring earplugs. The flat for the most part was clean except for the floor which has a black film on it. I would recommend bring house shoes. The small pull out couch in the living room needs to be updated. It was very old and had stains on it and small sharp objects sticking out. We did like the fact that we could walk to most of the places we wanted to see while in Rome. I would recommend this place for the location but not if you are a light sleeper.

Great Area

My family just returned from staying in this condo. We have three kids and the place worked for us. The area is fantastic although I would really recommend ear plugs (I had a couple of sleeping pills). The loud noise did not stop until late. The kitchen was not well-equippped which was diappointing and they REALLY need to buy a new sofa. However the area was really charming and we walked to everything! The woman who let us in was very nice and helpful and they had a renters' book that was filled with lots of good information. The place was really good but they could make it fabulous with little expense.

Clean, comfortable flat in a terrific location

My family had a wonderful time staying at this flat over Christmas 2010. My mother-in-law was comfortable in the smaller, quieter room, while my two children (8 and 5) were happy on the pull-out sofa, and my husband and I found the larger bedroom spacious and comfortable--but definitely noisy from evening revelers and morning market activity; I highly recommend ear plugs. The flat is exactly as advertized--there were no unwelcome suprises. It is simple, but comfortable and toasty warm on those cool evenings. The bathroom is nicely done. The blankets were a bit old, but clean. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and the market in the Campo will keep you well stocked, but there are so many delicious restaurants nearby that we didn't stay in much. Don't miss the pizza place right across the street from the flat--my Roman friend confirmed it was one of the best. One of the great things about this flat is the tremendously helpful Nicola. We arrived late after many plane delays, yet she met us outside at nearly midnight and made sure we got settled properly. Three of our bags were lost, and Nicola generously offered to speak on the phone with the delivery people and receive the bags when they came so we didn't have to sit around the flat for hours waiting for them. She answered all our emails about the bags and our extended stay promptly and was always very helpful and accessible. Finally, the location of this flat is terrific. The immediate neighborhood is lovely and full of treasures (the Campo, Navonna, Pantheon, Farnese, the Tiber, Via Guilia, and on and on), but it is also so central to many tourist attractions. Even with our children, we walked to many major sites, and when we were tired, it was easy to find one of many buses that went to the nearby stop of Largo Argentina (where, by the way, Caesar was killed). We highly recommend this flat and would happily return!

Fantastic Position & Great Service

My Husband and I stayed here in October 2010 with our 8yr old son and 30yr old nephew. It was a fabulous location, metres from the Campo dei Fiori - handy for fresh food, shopping, coffee and restaurants. The restaurant opposite has mouth-watering food and the square has a lovely festive atmosphere day and night, with many restaurants to choose from. All the major attractions are either walking distance or a short bus ride away. We arrived late and got the airport pick-up service that was very prompt and friendly. We were met at the apartment even though it was about 11pm and shown the basics and given a phone number if we had any queries. Only minor dislikes were 1. it was a little noisy from the square late into the night (but we closed the window and I always travel with earplugs as I am a little sleeper) 2. there was no washing machine in the apartment (however there was a friendly laundry mat service located around the corner -metres away - so no real problem). Would definitely stay here again when in Roma

Pretty Good Stay

Our group consisted of 2 couples that stayed Sept 10-13, 2010. Upon arriving, we called Nicola on the way to the flat and she met us there approx. 30 minutes later. Cons: The flat itself wasn't bad but because of the bedroom setup, 1 couple took the master and then my husband slept on the pullout couch and I slept on the twin bed. The couch isn't too comfortable and the furniture overall is a little dated. The bathroom was definitely crowded and the shower curtain probably needs to be washed because it smelled of mildew. Some of the dishes had not been washed so we chose not to cook at all. The trash for the all of the apartments is right by the front door and everyday the smell got worse to the point I just held my nose everytime we went down there. Pros: Can't beat the location! Literally right in Campo Di Fiori and a 7 minute walk from Piazza Navona. Restaurants right outside the door that were delicious. Email responses from owner was timely. If you are looking for a flat with a great location at a good price, then I would recommend this place. However, if you are concerned with comfort and space, this might not be the best choice. We had a great time in Rome and staying at this flat with its location was a plus.

Campo de' Fiori flat

Date of Stay: 05/31/10 Review Submitted: 06/14/10

Spent 4 nights in this flat with 3 teenage/young adult kids. Great location, safe, easy to walk to major sights. The market in the piazza was delightful, and a great way to shop for our snacks. The flat is spacious, clean, plenty of linens and towels, and just as described in ad. The air conditioning worked well, and helped to keep the street noise out. I would stay here again and recommend it highly. The owners provided very useful and helpful information which made everything easy and stress free.

Exciting location in the heart of Rome

The condo was great for all of our needs. We were in a great location and with the taxi service provided (at additional cost) we got to the apartment (from the airport) very easily and with no waiting. The apartment was nicely furnished and well equipped. The access to the apartment was easy (as we had an elderly family member) and the stairwell was very easily accessed. The apartment was well-kept and roomy for 5 people (2 children). There was also great information provided on local restaurants, museums and bus information. The owner and manager answered all of my questions and were very helpful. I'd highly recommend this location.

We just returned from our trip to Italy and were quite pleased with this apartment - nice and flat terrain after our visit to Cinque Terra :) . It was clean, convenient and centrally located for our needs . Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Navona are all short walks from the apartment. The Coliseum and Vatican were short bus/cab rides away - easy access to everything. The food at restaurants and bakeries close by were excellent (the bakery was a bit pricey but outstanding). You can also get most anything you need from the marketplace setup in Campo di Fiore every morning. Nicola was very nice and helpful - meeting us at the apartment within 5 minutes of notifying her of our arrival. The only people I'd be cautious in recommending this to would be people with smaller children as the noise outside can get loud at times on the weekends due to the close proximity to Campo di Fiore. The bedroom inside not near the windows hides most of that noise however. They also provide a nice "guide" book that is updated and ongoing by previous guests with places to see, buslines to take, restaurants with good food, etc. Was a good reference point for us.

In the Heart of Ancient Rome

This apartment, known as Ballestrari Flat, is located on Via di Ballastrari, which is on the southeast corner of the Campo di Fiori, literally steps from the Campo and it's daily market (closed only on Sundays). I can't imagine a better location. Within a few hundred yards is the outside market, numerous grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and chic shopping venues. We walked everywhere in ancient Rome: the Vatican, Piazza Navona, Trastevere, etc. We even walked to the Galleria Borghese, but I would not recommend it if you are not in fairly good shape. It was quite a trek. The flat is roomy, with room for five. The living area is spacious and well appointed. It has a fully stocked kitchen, with a full sized refrigerator and all the utensils, cookware, etc. It was quite cool when we were there (mid March), but the heating functioned well. Nicola and the owner were a pleasure to work with. Nicola met us at the flat, explained everything, and was readily available to answer any questions. In conclusion: I would highly recommend the Ballestrari flat.

A friend and I stayed for a week at the Balestrari flat. The space is terrific and the details wonderful. The city managers, Ruza and Nicola, were charming, helpful, courteous, accomodating and punctual. The flat was fairly well stocked for the beginning of a self catering vacation. Lots of clean linen and towels are provided, and Nicola has provided a very helpful guide to the area provided with transportation routes and restaurant suggestions. The apartment is quite roomy, with high ceilings and a folding wall to mask the kitchen area. The best feature is the proximity to the Campo and surrounding shops. Try Baccanale for fantastic take away panini, and Roscioli Bakery is a must visit. There are also a butcher and fishmonger in the immediate area. As I am an accomplished chef, we had little need to eat out due to the variety and quality of food at the market, which was my main reason for choosing this location. The cons: the small twin bedroom is only a cot, and a terrible sleeping surface. The convertible bed in the living area is a bit better, if only accomodating one adult sleeping in the center of the mattress. The shower drain also needed snaking, overflowing with each use. The Campo evening party noise is deafening with the windows open-- for a longer stay I would choose another location.

We stayed here in this delightful apartment for 8 days, and my family of 5, 3 kids aged 11, 9 & 7 were very happy. Perfect location right off Campo De Fiore and with-in walking distance of Piazza Nirvona,Trevi Fountain, Spainsh Steps and other attractions. The apartment was toasty in Feb and is perfect for a family on a budget. During the season, the restaurants located a few steps away might get a little noisey on weekends.
