Location: Colonia del Toro, Alajuela, Costa Rica, Central America (Colonia Del Toro)

Accommodations:  Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 6)

Our "Casa Toro" is located in the rainforest of Costa Rica. The house was built three years ago on a 2 acre lot. Surrounded by mountains and rivers. We have all kinds of fruit trees, a vegetable garden, a tilapia pond. To get to our place you will have to drive 2 1/2 hours from the San Jose airport. We have a guard who lives in a carriage house in our property, but our house is pretty much alone. NO NEIGHBORS!!! The house has three bedrooms, two in the first floor and one mezzanine that holds the master bedroom and a seating area, we have back and front porches, a beautiful kitchen with an island, dining room, living room with high ceilings and chimney, and a mud room. It's a perfect place for people who want to just chill out and relax. I don't offer internet access, but you can find an internet cafe in Venecia.

Our neighborhood
Colonia del Toro is a small town, 3 minute drive from our house. I usually drive to the nearest "big" town, Venecia, a 10 minute drive, to get all of my fresh produce ! In Venecia you can find many stores, supermarkets , drugstore , restaurants. You will need a car! Arenal Volcano it's a short 50 minute drive and Poas Volcano it's 1 hour drive. 10 minutes away you can relax in the "hot springs" of Recreo Verde, where you can also do some canopy . A 15 minute drive will take you to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica , (bring a raincoat, water proof -hiking shoes and a bottle of water ). You can drive 20 minutes to Los Bajos del Toro, a beautiful town nested between mountains and enjoy some trout fishing. The owners of the place will clean and cook the fish for you. A 45 minute ride will take you to La Paz Waterfall, I recommend this place 100% . If you're a mountain bike lover this is your place! There are so many things to do around, explore rivers, lakes, caves, or just chill out in the porch with a cup of coffee and your favorite book.

Something about ourselves
I grew up in Venecia, the nearest town from Colonia del Toro, moved to the US 13 years ago. I have two kids (14 and 10). My husband is a general contractor here in New Jersey. My family still lives in town (parents, 4 sisters, 12 nephews and nieces. Everybody in my family speaks English so if you need a ride from the airport, some info about the surrounding areas, they'll be happy to assist you. I can arrange to have someone come in to do your laundry, clean and cook your dinners for $ 30 per day .
