We choose this location simply because it was in the middle for our family to meet up and boy did we pick a great place!! We were so comfortable and in awe of the beautiful home and surroundings. Just prepare yourself for the hills! Since we had not been together for too many years and it was Thanksgiving we wanted to make sure we had something that would feel like home where we could enjoy a nice dinner together and fun family time. We got exactly that and then some! The owners were so easy to work with and very helpful. Provided great recommendations for the area and again, a beautiful home to enjoy! The only thing that I would say is that if you are not familiar with the area note that there are some STEEP hills and there is a large set of stairs in and out of the house. Since some of the family is older in age these things were a slight obstacle but we didn't let it stand in our way.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

This is a very nice lake home and well equiped with everything anyone would need. It's very clean and well taken care of by the owners. It was a pleasure to work with them. Although it was only two of us, we did have a family get together on Sunday with relatives who live nearby. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. We were able to visit a couple of the wineries while there. I would definitely recommend it to others considering a stay in that area.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

There were 4 adults and two children two years old and under who enjoyed this lovely vacation home. It was just as advertised and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, paddle boating and kayaking. The only problem with the kayaking is that the boats seem to be made for people shorter than six feet tall, but even then when my husband slowly turned the kayak and the kayak turned over in slow motion, it made for a lot of laughs. We enjoyed the electronic dart game, the beach by the swimming area, the local wineries and everything about this wonderful place. I think we will definitely come again. The only drawback was no cell phone service at the house, but we had inernet, so it really was no problem afterall.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Our stay was PERFECT! The entire family enjoyed the breathtaking views, large living spaces that were not only comfortable but cozy and beautiful as well, and the thorough instruction booklet the owners wisely prepared. This place was even better than expected! The house was cozy yet enough room my husband & I to spread out and the 5 kids to have a good time. The owners left toddler toys out for our little ones, the deck was big enough to spread out in, and the older kids loved the kayaks, paddleboat and hammock. The beach was a few houses down with lots of room to swim and easily accessible by kayak & paddleboat or by walking. There is a pool and clubhouse there as well, with limited hours, and a sand volleyball court. The house was clean and well supplied. The owners left a book with recommended tours & sights nearby. St Louis is a bit over an hour away and even during rush hour, the traffic is easy. We went several times to St Louis and found it easy to get to. This is a SMALL lake and my daughter and I kayaked around the entire lake, so if you are looking for a large boating lake, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a fun family trip this is definately the place to stay. We recommend this place highly!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time on our sister trip while staying here. The house was exactly as described, clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed the large deck and the lake view. We also loved the fireplace and appreciated the stash of firewood available. The kitchen had everything a person could need for fixing meals, and it was great that the refrigerator had a water and ice dispenser. There was an ample supply of towels and extra blankets. The owners were very easy to work with and very receptive and responsive to any and all questions. We would definitely recommend this home to everyone.Did you find this review helpful? Awesome well kept house and property. Jacque and Peter are great to deal with. We stayed for a week and the kids looked forward to getting back to the house in the afternoons so they could go to the beach. (something we all did together) Felt very safe and secure, Everything was top notch. Kitchen, baths ect. The yard, landscapeing and view from the deck made you want to sit outside in the eveings. Hopefully we will be staying here again. Our best experance so far with this type of rental. A++++Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a great find! We enjoyed a May Girl's Weekend at this house and loved it. The deck was spectacular and perfect for dining outside, enjoying margaritas and hanging out by the outdoor fire pit. The patio chairs were especially comfortable and there's even a hammock lakeside. The house was very roomy and would have even been great had we had the rainy weekend forecasted. Upon arrival we called the owner as instructed and he went through information about where to find things, etc and assisted with questions. During our stay we biked the Katy Trail, tooled around in the paddle boat, visited a few local wineries and shopped in Lake St. Louis. Would definitely recommend this house to others!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We were in town for a family wedding/reunion. Our children and their families came in from Arkansas and Utah. The home was exactly as it was portrayed to us thru e-mails and internet info. We had the best week! Others in our family visited thruout the week and we grilled out, hung out on the deck, used the paddle boat and went swimming. My husband and I are truck drivers and do not have a home, so we rent homes all over the country for our vacations. This was the nicest one we have rented and would highly recommend it to anyone. It's quiet, beautiful, within an hour of St. Louis~the best of both worlds! We actually can't wait to plan our next vacation here! The owners were very personable and professional.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

About the owner: The day My husband and I pulled into the driveway of this house we knew our search for a weekend retreat was over. It was perfect, not too faraway but far enough away to feel like we were on vacation. With 3 boys playing sports its too hard to try to get away when you have to drive 3 hours, it only takes us 50 minutes door to door. This house has everything you need inside and out. We like to describe it as rustic luxury. Its our relaxing getaway!
Why the Owner Chose St. Louis:
we chose this vacation destination for 2 main reasons: One its in the most beautful part of Missouri among rolling hills, bike trails, nature,& wineries, the property is the perfect size with every amenity and a huge deck for entertaining plus its on the main lake but in a secluded peaceful cove. Two its only a 50 minute drive to the heart of St. Louis! You feel like your out in the wilderness yet your not!
