We just love Culebra--fabulous beaches, fun town, great food. Not much night life, but we're not into that anyway. we really love this rental. It's perfect for 2 or 3 couples, with three different bedrooms each with its own character. Starting the day on the deck feeding the birds and drinking in the view can't be beat. The place has everything you need, and is very comfortably appointed. Good big kitchen for group cooking. The place is well landscaped and private, and it's nice without being the kind of place you feel like you have to tiptoe around in. Roger & Gigi are very responsive hosts--they know the island and the surrounding waters very well and are fountains of info. Can't say enough good things!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Culebra is an amazing island, and Casa Coqui made our stay that much more unforgettable! The house itself is perched up high on a hill with wonderful ocean views and a canopy of trees that makes you feel as if you are in a tree house. There are wonderful ocean breezes that cool and refresh. Behind the house, there is a hiking trail that winds uphill and leads to a beautiful overlook with 360 degree views. Perfect for beach chairs, Pinot Grigio and shooting stars. We saw 5! Everything that we needed for an active/enjoyable week was available at the house: Kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs, coolers, beach towels, flashlights... Our hosts Gigi and Roger were most gracious, generous and kind. Their knowledge of the island's restaurants, markets, beaches, and wildlife trumps anything you can find in guidebooks and online forums. Meeting them was like getting together with long-lost friends. If you want to experience true Culebra Island charm and lifestyle, visit Casa Coqui. If you want to watch TV in an air conditioned room or sit by the pool with an umbrella drink, book a room at a hotel on another island. THANKS for an unforgettable 20th Anniversary stay, Gigi and Roger!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We recently traveled with our family to the gorgeous island of Culebra, where we found an absolute gem in Casa Coqui. The lush setting is secluded with beautiful views, a well-stocked kitchen and total privacy. The owners are spectacularly friendly and generous with their time and advice. This was our first visit to Culebra, but it certainly won't be our last. Thanks Roger and Gigi!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My family (3 couples) has been exploring warm beach locations for winter trips over many years. Culebra, Casa Coqui, and our gracious hosts Gigi and Roger made this year's vacation one of the best ever. Casa Coqui is ideal for three couples with each bedroom / bathroom private, quiet and perfectly integrated with the natural beauty of the island. We used the well-appointed kitchen nightly, enjoyed relaxing afternoons on the shaded porch looking out to the emerald waters -- and explored a different beach each day. Our hosts were as good as it gets. Knowledgeable about the island, directing us to deserted beaches, and even helping us get ferry tickets out of town on the very busy New Year's holiday. I think we'll be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We just returned from a wonderful week with our adult children in Culebra. The layout of the villa complex was perfect for 3 couples. Each bedroom and the living area had outside decks with amazing views of the island and the bay. The villa was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We had everything we needed. The owners were extremely gracious and helpful, but unobtrusive, hosts. Culebra is a vey special place with amazing beaches, several well stocked grocery stores and restaurant choices.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We just returned from a one week stay at Villa Coqui and are still very excited about our stay. The property had a very open and airy layout with great views from all three guest rooms and the main deck. Kitchen was very large with plenty of counter space, perfect for cooking or making drinks. The home is surrounded by native vegitation and flowers and the setting is very private and unique with outdoor showers. The owners have beach chairs and towels, snorkel gear, and kayaks for your use and are very responsive and helpful. The location is remote with Larga being the closest beach and Zoni not too far away. Rent a Jeep rather than a golf cart like we did at first, the ride up to the house and to all the sights that Culebra has to offer will be more enjoyable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I am very proud of this review, as it comes from a group of seasoned travelers, who know how to have fun and make the most of their vacation time! We hope to see them again at Villa Coqui.

I spent a lot time planning this vacation and picking out a place to stay. I have been accused of being somewhat compulsive. After a year of anticipation, it would be easy for a place to disappoint but it did not. My wife and I and our four kids(two adult girls and two teenage boys) were so pleased with everything. It started with being met at the airport by the rental agent and getting a tour of the city and a stop at the grocery store for supplies (include bug spray-more for in town than out!) before heading out to the house. I am pretty sure I would have had a hard time getting there without the guide for that first trip - after that it was easy. (By the way - flying out proved to be really important as the ferry was unreliable!) The house was very comfortable the way a vacation spot should be. It is beautifully landscaped and appointed. We planned on doing a fair amount of our own cooking and the kitchen was very well equipped - even plenty of left-over containers for those late night snacks. I was nervous about not having air conditioning. Coming from Michigan in winter to a tropical climate - I thought I might miss it, but amazingly enough I didn't - at all! Most nights we slept under a comforter and were very comfortable. The house sits up where it gets the tradewinds and remains very comfortable even on pretty warm days. There were bulky things that we couldn't bring like beach chairs and coolers and beach towels but the house had all these and Roger and Gigi, the owners were very generous about sharing. Roger made sure that the sea kayaks were down by the dock and gave great instructions about how to use them and where the best places to kayak were and what the weather would mean for the experience and had enough equipment to accomodate all of us. Roger and Gigi together were a wealth of information about the little details and quirks of Culebra that would have been otherwise difficult to discover and really helped make the trip more successful. They were staying at one of their places nearby and were always available but never intrusive. I don't have time to say all the ways they were helpful but they were one of the best parts of a great experience. If you are looking for a place within walking distance of shops and restaurants and fellow traverlers - this place is not for you. But if you are looking for a subtropical paradise off the beaten path with amazing sunsets and wonderful flora and fauna - this is your kind of place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: There's no argument here that you are detail-driven and I mean that in the kindest of terms! It was an absolute pleasure to host you and your wonder family. We were very sad to see you go but hope that you left with great memories from Villa Coqui and Culebra.

I spent more than a little time trying to search out a great place for myself and my wife and our four adult-size kids (two actual adults and two large teenage boys). After a year of anticipation, it would have been easy for a place to fall short but this villa did not. My kids and I had a wonderful time and the house was everything we needed. It started with the rental agent meeting us at the airport (flying in proved really a good idea) and giving us a tour of the town, including a stop at the grocery store to get supplies before heading out to the house. We wanted to cook at the house a fair amount and the kitchen was very well equipped and quite spacious. We had all of the dishes and flatware and even a generous supply of left-over containers. I was a little nervous about not having air conditioning but people told me I wouldn't miss it. Coming from Michigan in December to a tropical climate, I found that a little hard to believe but most of the nights we slept under a comforter(!) and were very comfortable. The house sits up where it gets the prevailing winds and amazingly I never did miss not having air conditioning. There are always a lot of bulky things that you can't bring with you on a trip like this - beach chairs and coolers and the house had what we needed and Roger and Gigi, the owners were very gracious about sharing. They were there at a different property of theirs nearby and were more wonderful than I ever would have imagined. Roger got us ready to sea kayak and had enough equipment for all of us. He gave us great insights into how to get the most out of using them on the bay - where to look and what can be seen. Roger and Gigi together provided great insights into the little details of Culebra that would be otherwise difficult to come by and really helped us get the most out of our trip - where to shop and what the gas situation is like and which beaches would be best for the different weather situations. They were always available and never intrusive. They were one of the best parts of a great vacation. Now if you are looking for a place within walking distance of restaurants and shops and grocery stores, among fellow travelers - this would not be that place. It is definitely off the beaten path. If you are looking for an amazing place in a subtropical paradise with gorgeous sunsets, its own dock on the bay and beautiful flora and fauna - even little "house lizards" to eat the bugs, then this is your kind of place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
