VACATION STIMULUS! CALL FOR DISCOUNTS OFFERED!

‘Go West Young Man’ and come enjoy the beauty, convenient location, and abundant amenities of Wagon Wheel Ranch, on 20 acres of hillside and vineyard paradise, where the Dry Creek Valley and foothills meet the big blue sky!

Only a few minutes west of charming, historic, Healdsburg, the ‘heart’ of Sonoma County Wine Country, follow the Dry Creek Valley Wine Trail, graced with an abundance of vineyards and world class wineries, to this very special vacation destination, with the Lake Sonoma Recreation Area just 5 minutes away!

Nestled on a hilltop just above the Valley floor, with beautiful views and surrounded by the splendor of nature, this 2 story ranch-style Estate Home, is 4BR/4.5BA, 3300 sq. ft., renovated and well maintained, with heat and A/C, and an expansive and flowing floor plan.

The Ranch is ideal for ‘gatherings’ of up to 14 guests and is child and pet friendly (sm. lapdogs will be considered)! Come ye one and all, and let the celebration begin!

The lovely, fenced, in-ground pool & spa with large patio area & BBQ is a guest favorite and is great for poolside entertaining.

Relax in the spa or cool off in the pool when the days are warm and the sun is high in the sky! Very comfortable with Ranch style furnishings and décor, Wagon Wheel is spacious with plenty of room to enjoy and an abundance of amenities, including whole house Wi-Fi, of course.

The well equipped kitchen provides a gas range, oven, microwave, and all the essentials for the ‘chef of the house’, opening to a large dining area and table with seating and service for all. Sharing a gas, logged fireplace, the dining area transitions to the living room with a comfy sleeper sofa.

At the other end of the kitchen, the family room is a great place to gather ‘informally’ and watch satellite TV, a movie, or just enjoy visiting and being together. The recreation/game room is also very popular with a wood burning stove, wet bar with fridge, pool table, board games, and another comfy sleeper sofa.

Completing the first floor is a master suite (queen bed) with it’s own private bathroom with a dual sink vanity, and tub/shower combo.

A second full bath between the family room and hallway and an additional half bath are also located on the first floor for our guests’ convenience. The second story features another master suite (king bed) with a walk-in closet, TV, and an ‘ensuite’ bath with soaking tub, free standing shower and another dual sink vanity.

An alcove with views of the pool area, outside the master suite, is ‘home’ to a couch/futon bed for quiet enjoyment and/or another sleeping area. The upstairs third and fourth bedrooms (both with queens) share a full bath with a tub/shower combo.

With all the sleeping areas combined, this lovely ranch house provides for up to 8 guests in the four bedrooms and another 6 guests when using the 2 comfy sleeper sofas and futon bed.

Abounding with wildlife including a wide variety of birds, deer, critters, and the amazing diversity of Mother Nature’s creatures indigenous to this area, Wagon Wheel Ranch is away from the city lights and the numberless stars are brilliant in the night sky!

The Ranch provides a telescope for the ‘astronomer’ in your group, for our guests’ use for ‘stargazing’.

Ideally located for exploring the diversity of Sonoma County Wine Country, the Ranch is in the middle of the renowned Dry Creek Valley with its award winning wineries and tasting rooms including Amista, Bella, Dry Creek Vineyards, Dutcher Crossing, Ferrari Carraro, Lambert Bridge, Mauritson, Mounts Family, Preston, Quivera, Rued, Talty, and Zichini Family, with many more to choose from.

Only minutes from Healdsburg, the ‘crown jewel’ of Wine Country, you will need plenty of time for fine dining, shopping, art and antique galleries, and enjoying the Russian River with many more nearby adventures and activities to choose from.

Very importantly, the beautiful Lake Sonoma Recreation Area with marina and boat ramp for water activities, fishing, or just enjoying the beauty of it all, is only 5 minutes west. The more ‘adventurous’ can take Skagg Springs road past Lake Sonoma, 30 miles to Stewart’s Point on the rugged Northern California Coast. With plenty of parking for your RVs, tailored boats, sea-doos, and other water toys, the Ranch is a great ‘home base’ for exploring the diversity of Sonoma County’s Wine Country!

Whether, winter, spring, summer, or fall, wagon wheel beckons, hear the call! Sing to the rising sun or howl at the moon, but come get away from it all and reconnect with ‘your’ mother earth!

Meh.

Guest: Kimberly (San Francisco, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/22/11 Review Submitted: 01/28/12

Planning for 12 adults, 4 kids + dog, we chose Wagon Wheel based on the amount of space. It is dated but in decent condition. If you have fewer people or no pets I bet you could find something nicer. Here is a brief list I've had to condense to fit here: Two sleeping areas are in a converted garage space so it was very cold back there. They provided space heaters and extra blankets so we made do, but it wasn't ideal with small children. The pool table is unusable because the floor is so crooked that the balls just roll straight to the corner. The hot tub was a hot mess. It kept draining completely and we only got to use it one evening. Plus, it's off limits after 10pm. Another "amenity" that wasn't fully useable. Wi-fi is painfully slow to the point of nearly unusable and apparently crashes or limits the number of people that can connect at once. We brought a lot of devices but with no cell service out there all phones and computers connecting was a constant problem for us. One evening my husband had to drive into Healdsburg to use Starbucks internet in the middle of the night just to be able to connect to his office. Despite a hefty cleaning fee and a pet deposit/contract that explicitly forbids pets on the furniture, my first impression of the place was walking into one of the living rooms straight through a cobweb and sitting on a fur covered futon. Showering was another adventure as we learned the first day that although there are a lot of bathrooms, there is still a small water heater. The customer service is terrible. Promises during sales time and ignoring emails after they have your money. I had to inconveniently haul a bunch of my own pots/pans/dishes which we didn't need and los a nice saute pan in the process. The final straw was being surprised at the security deposit refund with an $80 deduction . No communication and just a one line response to my inquiry: "one bathroom was covered in vomit". Still ignoring my request for clarification. I personally did a walk through of the whole house before we left and I have no idea what they are referring to. This was not a frat party, it was three thirty-something couples with children and their grandparents.

Owner response:In addition to the full page detailed spa operations which are posted at the property under the spa controls, there is also the name and phone number of the pool and spa tech, and is also available should they have any problems whatsoever during their stay. Please note that there is no garage conversion at this home, and the only rooms added to this home were on the second floor. No other group has had problems with the spa and or cell reception at this home in particular. One last clarification is that the 10 p.m. noise restriction is part of the Sonoma County Vacation Code and it is a violation if our vacation guests have outdoor activities after 10 p.m. Neighbors also have our 24 hour phone number and the County allows us one hour to be at the property and resolve the issue should a neighbor complain. We cannot change this rule and we did not make it. We pride ourselves on excellent reputation and send out an appropriate service provider to address/solve any issues which occur during our guests stays. We truly are sorry and apologize that you had so many issues that you thoroughly detailed in your VRBO review. Our staff makes service calls even on holidays and had you given us the opportunity during your stay we would have sent someone out to help. With a group of 16 plus a dog, we expected the usual pile of laundry and normal cleaning issues. As stated previously, your group brought in extra beds from the garage (and did not return them), moved items in garage to get beds out, moved the pool table, and got into the owner's closet and used extra linens and towels (beyond normal use). Additionally, someone vomited in the Master bedroom sink and on the vanity, faucet, and toilet; guests used towels in an attempt to clean up the mess which was rather disgusting and the housekeepers needed extra time to deal with issues that should not have occurred. We do not expect our housekeepers to clean up after a guest has gotten sick at the property. Guests appreciate our transparency explaining that Wagon Wheel Ranch is dated but a great value with accommodating your large multi generational family holiday gathering of 16. I am confident that had you given us the opportunity to address the issues and complaints during your stay, that we could have handled the majority of these quickly and improved the quality of your stay.

Wine country house in Healdsburg

Guest: Wine lover (Oshkosh, WI)
Date of Stay: 06/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/28/11

Was somewhat disappointed with the cleanliness of this house. The only thing which was clean were the bathrooms. Carpet was filthy and stained, kitchen floor was not clean. Air conditioning did not work well at all and the house was uncomfortably hot all the time. Would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Owner response:As Property Managers for this home, we are also disappointed if it was not sparkling clean, as this is our standard and of paramount importance to us. Had these guests called us when they first arrived, we would have had a housekeeper there within ½ hour to clean as necessary. We and our staff are literally available 24/7. We are also very honest about all of our properties each with 20 current and representative pictures on our website. This home is older and although the carpet is cleaned a couple of times per year, it does need replacement which will occur next year. We have recently added new 2” shutterblinds and vertical window treatments for the sliders throughout the house, as well as adding new linens, bedding, towels, pillows, and more than a dozen more wine-themed, framed pictures. We have no other negative reviews, but rather two very positive reviews from this year; just do an internet search for "Dry Creek Valley Ranch w/ Pool & Spa”. This is the first ‘disappointed’ review we have received. A July 8, 2011 review gave 4 of 5 stars and said, “Nice, comfortable, large home – very pleasant place to stay with friends and family. Not posh but well equipped, comfortable, and clean. Good location”. On April 3, 2011, a 5-star review states, “Fun, spacious house for a group with varied interests. Many rooms and many things to do in this home. It’s very close to some of the best wine tasting around. Highly recommend”. This 4 bedroom home is spacious at 2500 sq. ft. and well priced, particularly considering its in-ground pool and spa. As for the air conditioning, we have not had complaints and I cannot explain why this group had problems. We have many repeat guests and are truly apologetic that this group apparently did not enjoy their stay. Enough said. I truly do not believe that this rating is reflective of this home, but rather an uncommon occurrence. Warmly and always at your service, The BirdSong Team
