WATERFRONT LOCATION...at Anne's Cottage you will be just over a mile from downtown Fish Creek, at the bustling center of the resort area (#1 Midwest getaway according to Midwest Living Magazine), as you unwind happily in your quiet, secluded, and well-appointed waterfront cottage.

For swimming, fishing, stargazing and sunsets that can take your breath away, there is a beach deck and a swimming pier. The shore front cottage, with its screened porch set back just 30 feet from the water, is not visible from the street. The only traffic that you're likely to hear is boat traffic, and the waves will lull you peacefully to sleep.

PEOPLE JUST LOVE...the screened-in porch overlooking the water. There is a multipurpose table & four chairs and two wicker armchairs & settee. Some guests tell us that they have never eaten a meal in the kitchen because it is so very pleasant dining on the porch.

INSIDE...the living room has a classic stone fireplace, and seasoned firewood is provided for you, along with satellite TV, books, DVDs and a stereo with an MP3 docking station. You'll find the kitchen to be very nicely equipped, and its eating area offers a great view of the water. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed, the other with twins. The bathroom has a tub/shower. Mattresses and appliances are all recent. If you spot a cleaning problem, we have an agreement with our cleaners that they will return.

EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT NEED… An on-site caretaker is available gratis to help with any house-related problems and doesn’t mind answering a quick question about area attractions. The owners provide information for arranging tickets ahead and boat and bike rentals, detailed instructions for “operating” the cottage, along with guidebooks and their suggestions for exploring the county. Even a needle and thread!

THE NEIGHBORHOOD...is quiet, beautiful, and special. Anne's Cottage, with a 150 foot shoreline unique for a small rental, is situated on one of the early 20th century estates in a Fish Creek waterfront summer colony dubbed "millionaire's row.” It is well separated and screened from other houses and has its own ample yard and garden.

On the way to Main Street, the trees meet over the woods and wildflower-lined street, offering a splendid route for a walk or bike ride into town. Be on the watch for spring wildflowers, wild turkeys, deer, pileated woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and other wildlife.

Your destination, quaint Fish Creek, has arguably the best amenities in Northern Door: picturesque village and harbor, a grocery, unique shops, many restaurants at all price points, gourmet carryout pizza, Peninsula State Park, live theater, art galleries and art school classes, a friendly espresso bar/grill, local bar, a library and bookstore among them.

SO MANY PLEASANT WAYS TO PASS THE TIME...relish a leisurely cup of coffee on your porch listening to our cardinals sing while you breeze through a sudoku or crossword. Settle in an Adirondack chair overlooking the water, breathe in the natural cedar aromatherapy, and read a book or catch a glorious nap on the hammock in the sun or shade.

Hang out by the water and see pelicans and gulls soaring over the waves. Enjoy a glass of wine and a spectacular sunset over the water. And at the end of a magical day the stars put on a show for free, maybe even Northern lights, without city lights to dim the dazzling display. It will be so relaxing.

COMPARING COSTS
For less than a local hotel room in season, you have space, many amenities and an incomparable setting. You can save even more by having even a few meals or carryout at home

OUR GUESTS WEIGH IN…Be sure to skim the many “Traveler Reviews” at the end of our VRBO listing.

The quick version for this review can be summed up in one word: WONDERFUL! But more words probably tell a more complete story. My wife and I have enjoyed some great VRBO experiences, but I have to say that our week at Anne’s Cottage topped them all. Anne’s Cottage is clean. Well cared for. Quaint. Comfortable. Well laid out. Well appointed. Secluded. The setting and view are to die for. And the owners have provided every possible detail to ensure that a stay there is smooth and comfortable. The toughest part about our time there was selecting the vantage from which we would watch the amazingly beautiful sunsets over Green Bay. There was the dining table in the kitchen that had a great view. Then there was the screened porch. The lounge chairs in the small lawn overlooking the bay provided a nice view too! But our favorite view of the light show that is the sunset at Anne’s Cottage was from down by the water (50 feet from the porch) on our private dock! Between the sounds of the waves coming to shore and the colors of the sunset, it was the place to be around sundown! Driving down Cottage Row from the town of Fish Creek on our first approach to the Cottage was amazing. Although it’s only a little over a mile from town, the tree-canopied road is like a path to another dimension. I really couldn’t believe we were going to be staying there. The area around Fish Creek—Door County—is amazing. So much to do for so many different interests. Antiquing won on our visit. But there is golf, cycling (we rented bikes for the week and used them a lot), fishing, boating, shopping, people watching and, when at Anne’s Cottage, just “chillin” is pretty good. If you like reading with the sound of waves breaking a few yards away. I also can’t say enough about the extent to which the owners have gone to make things easy and comfortable. A three page or so “owner’s manual” for Anne’s Cottage answered every question we had and some we didn’t! They even provided a variety of spare batteries and an emergency light in case power went off (it didn’t)! We cooked in a lot and had plenty of pots and pans and dishes, along with basic spices. The appliances were great. Great fridge, stove, oven, toaster, etc. The Weber grill was great and we used it a lot. There isn’t a washer and dryer, so plan accordingly, but there’s about everything else you might need, including a clothesline and lots of fresh air to dry things! Oh, and the selection of books i

Quaint and Charming Waterfront Cottage

Guest: Barb (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/12/10 Review Submitted: 06/27/10

This cottage was clean, quaint, and located in a beautiful setting. We loved the screened porch and beautiful view of the water. The grounds were well maintained with annuals and perennials. There were plenty of places to relax on the grounds...picnic table, adirondack chairs, the dock. The owner provided the guests with a binder of activities to do in the area, from local theater to orchards, shops, and restaurants. There were tons of things to do...gorgeous bike rides, golf, kayaking, and walking into the charming town of Fish Creek. This vacation exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend this cottage.

I enjoyed Anne's Cottage for a week in early May, which was my fourth stay on the property in as many years. I come for the solitude, the comfort, and the ability to relax in a wonderfully kept property so conveniently located. The property is meticulously and lovingly maintained, and I look forward to many more visits to come.

My husband & I stayed at Anne's cottage for two nights and througly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was fully equiped, felt like our own home-away-from-home. The sunsets were spectacular, ability to walk to restaurants was great and biking thorugh town and the park was icing on the cake. The cabin was charming, very clean and cozy. A little slice of heaven.

My husband and 4 month old baby daughter and I spent a wonderful three nights at Anne's Cottage in late October. It was a beautiful time to be in Door County as the leaves had changed and were beginning to fall. It may have been a bit chilly outside, but we were cozy and comfortable with the fantastic fireplace. The cottage was wonderful. We have traveled quite a bit and have stayed in many beautiful hotels and resorts and I can honestly say that Anne's Cottage was absolutely the cleanest accommodation we have ever stayed in. We are hoping to visit again next year.

Our week at this lovely, serene cottage was PERFECT! Anne's is lovely, well-equipped, and comfortable - not to mention, that attention to detail and cleanliness rivals any 5 star resort! We highly recommend this perfect cottage...it's just so relaxing! Fish Creek and all of Door County is so easily accessible, but return in time to enjoy the incredible sunsets! In FL its all plastic & make-belive, this cottage is the REAL DEAL! Thanks ever so much!

What a gem this cottage is! Nothing better than going to sleep and hearing the waves crash--in fact our 16 month old son slept the best he has ever slept, which meant WE SLEPT TOO, so that alone was worth the trip...I know we'll be back to this beautiful cottage that has obviously been well-loved and cherished over the years.

This note comes with our overflowing gratitude for providing an absolutely perfect cottage for a most perfect week in Fish Creek. Although we've been to Fish Creek many times, this is the first time we've just "kicked back" having a non-schedule. Oh, how great it has been!...You have made your cottage so easy to live in--all is so convenient and clean! We are so unwound and contented that it will be difficult to return to schedules. We truly want to come again!

COMMENTS FROM OUR 2007 GUEST BOOK: Well, everyone still loves the water and its viewing, and the many ten-year olds who wrote for their families ignored the cottage charms to urge us all to "swim a lot!" (I've modestly shaved the number of exclamation marks.)Besotted as we owners are with this special spot, we wonder whether prospective guests want to read another ten times that our guests really do love the cottage. A poem, long list of cot- age charms and Christmas letter are too long. So a small sample follows. Reserve the cottage for the full story!

Anne's Cottage is immaculate, lovingly maintained and tastefully decorated. The color scheme of blue, white and yellow is restful and crisp. We loved the well-equipped kitchen that enabled our daughter to prepare her gourmet meals. We will certainly come back as soon as we can! Thank you, Clarks.
