WATERFRONT LOCATION...at Ann's Cottage you will be just over a mile from downtown Fish Creek, at the bustling center of the resort area (#1 Midwest getaway according to Midwest Living Magazine), as you unwind happily in your quiet, secluded, and well-appointed waterfront cottage.
For swimming, fishing, stargazing and sunsets that can take your breath away, there is a beach deck and a swimming pier. The shore front cottage, with its screened porch set back just 30 feet from the water, is not visible from the street. The only traffic that you're likely to hear is boat traffic, and the waves will lull you peacefully to sleep.
PEOPLE JUST LOVE...the screened-in porch overlooking the water. There is a multipurpose table & four chairs and two wicker armchairs & settee. Some guests tell us that they have never eaten a meal in the kitchen because it is so very pleasant dining on the porch.
Outside, a new wooden deck with a table and chairs provides you with breathtaking water views, yet is convenient to the kitchen for alfresco dining.
INSIDE...the living room has a classic stone fireplace, and seasoned firewood is provided for you, along with satellite TV, books, games, DVDs and a stereo with an MP3 docking station. You'll find the kitchen to be very nicely equipped, and its eating area also offers a great view of the water.
There are two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed, the other with twins. The bathroom has a tub/shower. Mattresses and appliances are all recent. We have just added central air. If you spot a cleaning problem when you arrive, we have an agreement with our cleaners that they will return to correct it.
EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT NEED… An on-site caretaker (cottage at the entrance of the property) is available gratis to help with any house-related problems and doesn’t mind answering a quick question about area attractions. The owners provide information for arranging tickets and boat and bike rentals ahead, detailed instructions for “operating” the cottage, along with guidebooks and their suggestions for exploring the county. Even a needle and thread!
THE NEIGHBORHOOD...is quiet, beautiful, and special. Ann's Cottage, with a 150 foot shoreline unique for a small rental, is situated on one of the early 20th century estates in a Fish Creek waterfront summer colony dubbed 'millionaire's row.” It is well separated and screened from 2 other houses on the property (the caretakers' cottage and owner's large home are each hundreds of well-screened feet away) and has its own private waterfront and ample yard and garden.
On the way to Main Street, the trees meet over the woods and wildflower-lined street, offering a splendid route for a walk or bike ride. Be on the watch for spring wildflowers, wild turkeys, deer, pileated woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and other wildlife.
Your destination, quaint Fish Creek, has arguably the best amenities in Northern Door: picturesque village and harbor, a grocery, unique shops, many restaurants at all price points, gourmet carryout pizza, Peninsula State Park, live theater, art galleries and art school classes, a friendly bar/grill, a bank, a library and bookstore among them.
SO MANY PLEASANT WAYS TO PASS THE TIME...relish a leisurely cup of coffee on your porch listening to our cardinals sing while you breeze through a sudoku or crossword. Settle in an Adirondack chair overlooking the water, breathe in the natural cedar aromatherapy, and read a book or catch a glorious nap on the hammock in the sun or shade.
Hang out by the water and see pelicans and gulls soaring over the waves. Enjoy a glass of wine and a spectacular sunset over the water. And at the end of a magical day the stars put on a show for free, maybe even Northern lights, without city lights to dim the dazzling display. It will be so relaxing.
COMPARING COSTS
For less than many local hotel or resort rooms in season, you have space, many amenities and an incomparable private setting. You can save even more by having even a few meals or carryout at home if you like.
OUR GUESTS WEIGH IN…Be sure to skim the many “Traveler Reviews” at the end of our VRBO listing.
Many of our guests have pronounced the cottage, the waterfront setting, and the neighborhood to be quite simply enchanting. They value the privacy here, as well as the convenience of being so centrally located in Door County. There are a number of guests who have vacationed here regularly for 20 years. Once you stay here, you will understand why!

We (4 sisters) spent a long weekend at this beautiful cottage. Everything was absolutely perfect and exceeded our expectations. We found the cottage to be spotless, cozy, and comfortable. We enjoyed making a fire each evening in the beautiful stone fire place. The owners provided a good supply of well seasoned wood. During the day, we walked the mile down a quiet road into Fish Creek for shopping, bike riding through Penninusula State Park, and dining. We found a grocery store that had everything we needed for great appetizers and meals at our cottage. I am the cook in the family, and I was very impressed with the kitchen. Pots, pans, utensils, dishes and stem ware....everything needed to prepare and serve a feast was available. The view of the lake was just breathtaking, and while sitting in the front yard, you are close enough to the water to hear the lapping of the waves. The night sky is stunning! With only ambient light, the Milky Way was bright and beautiful. The owners said that the Aurora Borealis is sometimes visible. What a treat that must be! The owners live close by and were very accommodating. Having an evening to visit with them and hear the history of the property and the town was great. This was a place that was difficult to leave, and will be easy to return to.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had an amazing first visit to Door County. Selecting Anne's Cottage for our stay was the perfect choice and made our 3 day stay delightful! The location is a secluded spot right on the waters of Green Bay, we enjoyed the relaxing sounds of the waves and water as much as possible on the dock area, while grilling our dinners, and watching the most beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed eating on the screened in porch, relaxing by the cozy fireplace with the beautiful quilts in the cottage. The owners have provided for all your needs throughout the cottage and it is more beautiful than the pictures can even show. It is very clean, cozy and comfortable, filled with information about the area, and even included TV, movies, books, games - something for everyone! The location is so close to Fish Creek and Peninsula State Park, which we enjoyed each day during our stay. We highly recommend this lovely cottage for your stay in Door County!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Just returned from a wonderful 5 day trip to Door County and stayed in the perfect location! Everything about the cottage is a dream. The location is off the beaten path yet a 1.4 mile walk down Cottage Row gets you into the midst of it all in Fish Creek. The fireplace was a huge hit for us as the temperatures went down to 38 degrees. We enjoyed evening drinks on the deck. Every detail was thought of and written down in a binder so there were no questions left unknown. Accommodations were quaint, charming and comfortable. The many brochures and maps helped us to navigate Door County in a very precise way. I would highly recommend this cottage. Thanks for the great time.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Ann's Cottage was the perfect location to Main St. Fish Creek. This quaint cottage had the most incredible view of Green Bay from the screened in porch, kitchen and living space. The spotless cottage was extremely comfortable and perfectly appointed with great attention to detail to make guests want for nothing. My friends and I were happy we chose Ann's cottage and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks to "Friends" as well as to all our other reviewers for taking the time to write helpful information about our cottage. They are right; we try to anticipate traveler needs, from a first aid kit to cookbooks, from the indispensable hammock to a collection of guidebooks, brochures and personal recommendations for your adventures here. If you come, we will ask for your suggestions for further improvements, and we are always doing maintenance and upgrading the cottage. Try us out and see!

Such a wonderful backdrop to our summer vacation. While we loved Door County and all it gloriously had to offer, our girls (aged 5 and 2) had no hesitation when asked what the best part of the trip was--Miss Anne's Cottage! Though "Miss Anne's Lake" (Lake Michigan) was a close second, they truly had the most fun being around the cottage. Our two year old is already asking "Can we go back to Miss Anne's Cottage? The owners were lovely and very helpful both before, during, and after our stay. They made it very easy to have children there - they had side rails, pack & play, toys, kid's pool, and were very concerned with the comfort of our kids. Our girls enjoyed sharing the room with the twin beds and playing on the porch. The accommodations were just wonderful - the epitome of what a cottage should be. We even decided to spend the one rainy day we had relaxing around the cottage - playing games, listening to music, reading books - and it was such an unexpected treat! Almost wished it had been cold enough to use the fireplace! The best part about the cottage was the perfect setting & location - along the lake & felt secluded in the woods, perfect to enjoy a book in the hammock, a glass of wine watching the sunset, or fishing on the dock, but still an enjoyable walk (just over a mile) into town (Fish Creek) down a beautiful road with gorgeous trees and lakefront mansions. Also, located somewhat in the heart of Door County, relatively easy access to all the different spots we visited - Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Whitefish Dunes State Park, the ferry at Gills Rock to Washington Island, Sand Bay beach... and of course closest to our favorites - the town of Fish Creek & Peninsula State Park.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

I had been looking at the "cottage" for years and it finally happened! I got together with an old jr. high school friend and had a girls vacation at the "cottage". The cottage, setting, and the lake scenery exceeded our expectations. It was clean, adorable, and the accomodations were outstanding. It had everything we needed, from a hammock, full kitchen set-up, patio and dock area to entertain, etc.. All of our meals took place at the "cottage" I have told so many family and friends about our trip and where we stayed. It was perfect! Thank you Ann for making my "bucket list" experience one I will never forget. I can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Our stay at Anne's Cottage 6/30/12 - 7/7/12 was an absolute joy. We were very fortunate to find such a centrally located and quiet place to relax and explore the area after not having been up to Door County for 9 yrs. A couple of things were added to make our stay more comfortable before we arrived. Air conditioning units were added in the bedrooms and new decking added for outdoor sitting as well as access to the swimming pier. The Cottage was very well maintained and we found items there that we hadn't even thought we would need which made our stay even better. Since the time of our initial booking, photos have been added to the listing showing just how special this place is. We checked in with the owners upon arrival and departure. It was clear that they cared about our comfort and encouraged feedback regarding our stay and if we thought anything could be added. Some of our favorite places to visit for meals were in Sister Bay. Mission Grill for dinner and Al Johnson's for breakfast have always been great places. There is a frozen custard place near the harbor and Clark Park in Fish Creek that was good for a warm afternoon treat. Don't forget historic Wilson's in Ephraim for ice cream also. We also had a very good dinner at the Cookery in Fish Creek on our last evening. We found Sweetie Pies had the best home made pie I have had aside from my own mothers. Exploring the shops in the morning and sitting on the porch reading a book for the afternoon or swimming in the bay waters was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time. I have shared this listing with friends and family who I strongly recommend should visit. I am looking forward to staying at Anne's Cottage again in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This property is right on the water and has a pitch-perfect "cottagey" retro charm. The owner has every detail covered and helpful notes abound throughout - down to labeling lights, garbage disposal, recycling bins, etc. The location is very close to Fish Creek, only a mile. In Fish Creek you can stop for the highly recommended frozen custard. We wished we could have stayed longer. There is more to the cottage than meets the eye: the small but well-edited library with DVDs and great book selection, a toy bin for kids, the kitchen with serving trays and coolers to make meals easy, etc. Would highly recommend this place and would love to get the entire family together for the next door larger property soon!!!! PS: for serious food shopping we went to larger store in Egg Harbor.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

The quick version for this review can be summed up in one word: WONDERFUL! But more words probably tell a more complete story. My wife and I have enjoyed some great VRBO experiences, but I have to say that our week at Anne’s Cottage topped them all. Anne’s Cottage is clean. Well cared for. Quaint. Comfortable. Well laid out. Well appointed. Secluded. The setting and view are to die for. And the owners have provided every possible detail to ensure that a stay there is smooth and comfortable. The toughest part about our time there was selecting the vantage from which we would watch the amazingly beautiful sunsets over Green Bay. There was the dining table in the kitchen that had a great view. Then there was the screened porch. The lounge chairs in the small lawn overlooking the bay provided a nice view too! But our favorite view of the light show that is the sunset at Anne’s Cottage was from down by the water (50 feet from the porch) on our private dock! Between the sounds of the waves coming to shore and the colors of the sunset, it was the place to be around sundown! Driving down Cottage Row from the town of Fish Creek on our first approach to the Cottage was amazing. Although it’s only a little over a mile from town, the tree-canopied road is like a path to another dimension. I really couldn’t believe we were going to be staying there. The area around Fish Creek—Door County—is amazing. So much to do for so many different interests. Antiquing won on our visit. But there is golf, cycling (we rented bikes for the week and used them a lot), fishing, boating, shopping, people watching and, when at Anne’s Cottage, just “chillin” is pretty good. If you like reading with the sound of waves breaking a few yards away. I also can’t say enough about the extent to which the owners have gone to make things easy and comfortable. A three page or so “owner’s manual” for Anne’s Cottage answered every question we had and some we didn’t! They even provided a variety of spare batteries and an emergency light in case power went off (it didn’t)! We cooked in a lot and had plenty of pots and pans and dishes, along with basic spices. The appliances were great. Great fridge, stove, oven, toaster, etc. The Weber grill was great and we used it a lot. There isn’t a washer and dryer, so plan accordingly, but there’s about everything else you might need, including a clothesline and lots of fresh air to dry things! Oh, and the selection of books iRecommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

This cottage was clean, quaint, and located in a beautiful setting. We loved the screened porch and beautiful view of the water. The grounds were well maintained with annuals and perennials. There were plenty of places to relax on the grounds...picnic table, adirondack chairs, the dock. The owner provided the guests with a binder of activities to do in the area, from local theater to orchards, shops, and restaurants. There were tons of things to do...gorgeous bike rides, golf, kayaking, and walking into the charming town of Fish Creek. This vacation exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend this cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
