Dupont Circle Luxury, Walk to the White House and the Mall
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Dupont Circle
Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called "Old City", DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.
This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab and is on Metro's Red line. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get.
The Phillips Collection is an art museum founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921 as the Phillips Memorial Gallery located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C

Owner's Map of Dupont Circle
We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate, Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.
We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.
We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.
We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

My family spent a week at this wonderful condo and loved everything about it. The location is wonderful and close to everything. We found the unit very clean, fresh and almost feeling brand new and even nicer than we saw on the website. The neighborhood is very safe, close to the Smithsonian and all the sights. We walked to two grocery stores around the corner (Whole Foods and Safeway), both of which are very close. The owner gave us great tips on where to go eat and was so nice that we almost felt like having a new friend. Highly recommend to everyone who can get on the calendar as it seems that they book up pretty far in advance.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. It was pleasure meeting you and your family and we are looking forward to see you again.

Our family (parents and college age children) stayed over the New Years weekend and found great amenities (fully equipped kitchen, private sleeping arrangements, very clean environment). The location was several blocks from the Metro and about a 20 min. walk to the White House, so we were able to sightsee all on foot (great exercise opportunity!). The emails with Kate prior to our arrival provided much information on the area. More information was at the property when we arrived, again very helpful. We enjoyed having the neighborhood feel rather than being an obvious tourist at a hotel.

This property is awesome, as is it's owner. We arrived early and were allowed to store our luggage at the townhouse since we were ahead of our originally planned arrival time. Jarek met us at the property and was most helpful in orienting us for our stay - he told us about the restaurants in the area and shopping opportunities, gave us directions to sightseeing and Metro stations as well as letting us know about the condo. There also were tons of helpful DC travel books, maps, brochures to help. The condo had EVERYTHING we needed and more - very well appointed. Many extras. The master suite is so welcoming. And, most importantly...it's all about location, location, location...convenient to everything. If you love to get to know a city, stay here and walk to the central sightseeing areas - White House, Smithsonian, Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington Monuments. Could go on and on, but stay here and see for yourselves. Thanks Jarek and Kate for your hospitality.

This apartment is located in walking distance between two vibrant neighborhoods -- Dupont Circle and U Street. Access to restaurants, nightlife, a grocery store and public transit is excellent. With two bedrooms, to bathrooms and a convertible couch, there is ample room for a family. There is a washer/dryer in the unit which is a great convenience. The kitchen is contemporary, stylish and functional. The two bathrooms feature modern fixtures.

Loved this property. We stayed here the summer of 2010 with our family of 6. Well located and close to the subway and venues. Also a nice casual walk to the local stores.

My family and I stayed here in January. We have a pre-crawling baby and the house was just perfect. Super comfortable and very stylish. The apartment was spotlessly clean too. It's a great area to stay in and we will definitely stay again next time we visit Washington.

We stayed right before Thanksgiving and loved this place. My kids (11 & 8) thought it was totally cool, and we really enjoyed having a condo over staying in a cramped hotel. The street is beautiful and all the homes are very well-maintained. We are a very active family and walked alot, and we felt very safe. In fact, I walked to the Safeway by myself (this is the "regular" grocery store and is very close - my kids just don't dig the Whole Foods thing). We never needed a cab and found that the 12 minute walk to the Metro (we always took the red line from Dupont Circle) was alot of fun. The owner was extremely nice too. The condo is immaculately clean, and I loved the wine choice they had waiting for us. Here is my only thing: the staircase to the upper floor (where the bedrooms are) does not have a banister. If you have a small child, this might make you nervous. In fact, I have a child who walks around at night, and we put up the babygate provided to make sure she didn't go down the steps. Otherwise, this is a simply great place and we will recommend it to all our friends traveling to DC.

Dupont Circle was a great base for our family (2 adults and one 18yo daughter). Close walk to the train along some of DCs most gorgeous streets - resplendent in their Christmas finery. nTHe apartment was well set up and easy to use. Kate was very attentive to evry email we sent and access instructions easy to follow. We also loved Cork - a cute wine bar with greta food just a few blocks away - and the WholeFoodsMarket had all our food and wine needs covered. We will drop again when in DC.
