Review #1458416 Flamingo Beach Heaven! Flamingo Beach is a beautiful condo and we loved everything about it! Truman Annex is the perfect spot to stay as it is right in the middle of EVERYTHING in Key West! We especially enjoyed the lovely patio which was spacious, private, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the necessities. We would DEFINATELY stay there again and we loved Mr. Al, who sent us a plethora of information which really helped us find our way around as well as hot spots and good eats. Best vacation EVER!!!

Flamingo Beach is a beautiful condo and we loved everything about it! Truman Annex is the perfect spot to stay as it is right in the middle of EVERYTHING in Key West! We especially enjoyed the lovely patio which was spacious, private, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all the necessities. We would DEFINATELY stay there again and we loved Mr. Al, who sent us a plethora of information which really helped us find our way around as well as hot spots and good eats. Best vacation EVER!!!

The property was beautiful. Relaxed on the deck with morning coffee... Al has made sure that there is nothing left out. We washed clothes and came home with only one change of dirty laundry- nice not to go home with stinky bags!... The location was perfect! We were able to walk most everywhere. Duval street everynight for the people-watching and cocktails. Al's e-mail with his top picks for attractions and restaurants was spot on! We enjoyed many of his suggestions. Especially Jack Flats sandwiches! AWESOME! Thank you for a wonderful vacation rental!

Best Vacation in Key West EVER!

We are not new to Key West and are familiar with the lay of the land. We have stayed in resorts for the last 5 years. I would recommend Flamingo Beach for many reasons. The Truman Annex is private but convenient. The pier at the end of the street was cool for sunsets and even fishing. Walked or biked the rest of the island in minutes every day. The condo is so pretty with the tropical feel. The deck out back was our hangout, too. All the little extras, beach chairs, cooler, boom box, beach towels, the grill, extra towels, even trash bags, all for our convenience. Al Metty is a terrific host and great guy! We will definitely rent again next year. It was the personal touch that made our vacation so easy and memorable.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What an absolutely tremendous vacation we had - and a great deal of it is owed to Al and his hospitality. The condo was great with all of the accommodations we could have asked for right when we walked in the door. The place was clean and fully stocked. And you can't ask for a better location. 2 blocks off Duval and one block from the Green Parrot. However, I really think the best part of renting this condo was Al. My wife and I had never been to Key West and we received so many wonderful emails from Al letting us in on all the great places to eat, see and oh yeah, drink. The touristy things are obvious, but some of the out of the way places that Al suggested were spot on that we would never have found on our own. This was also our first VRBO out of state so we were a tad nervous but from start to finish it was a fantastic experience. All we can say is we are definitely headed back to Key West and we will definitely be renting from Al again! THANK YOU and Happy New Year!

This condo was just terrific. It was clean, close to the Key West attractions, yet quiet enough to allow weary travelers to rest. The kitchen is well-stocked with the necessary cooking utensils, and the overall condo is well-decorated. It was just wonderful not to be stuck in a small hotel room for once. And, it is reasonably priced as well. The area it is located in is the Shipyard, which is part of the Truman Whitehouse complex. It's very near the renowned Duval Street (about 2 blocks). We really liked Fogarty's for lunch. It's connected to the "Flying Monkey" bar next door. If you like chocolate and bananas, I recommend a "Dirty Monkey" frozen drink. It was just wonderful. This condo is my # 1 choice when staying in Key West. The landlord is easy to work with and is really helpful with suggestions on where to eat and what to see in Key West.

Our week at Flamingo Beach

We had a great time at Flamingo Beach. There were three of us ladies so the bedding arrangements were perfect. And the twin beds were very comfortable. The back patio with the lovely table and chairs was perfect for our breakfast and daily planning sessions. Considering the condo is located on Southard Street is was still a very quiet location. The proximity to Fort Zach was a plus! We rented the adult trikes from the Moped Hospital and carried everything we needed to the beach in the baskets. Don't be fooled by the closeness to the beach, the walk back at the end of the day is killer! Once you pay your daily admission you can return for sunset at the park. It is less crazy than Mallory Square but if you just want to snap photos and enjoy the ambience this is the place to go. We didn't spend a lot of time doing any "gourmet" cooking in the kitchen but it was well equipped for what little cooking we did do! The blender came in handy for happy hour. Since this is our 5th trip to Key West we are fairly regular in our habits. Happy hour at Kelly's is killer, the Green Parrot has never disappointed, Camilles for breakfast, Blue Heaven for dinner, Key West Winery for tropical fruit wines, Le Croissant de France for brunch and pastries. No trip would be complete with out a jog or two over to the Blonde Giraffe for Key Lime pie on a stick. Off island activities included going to the beach at Bahia Honda twice. One day we ventured over to No Name Key and found the No Name Bar, the served the beer cold and the pizza hot and delicious. If you are there in the evening you will even see key deer. We counted 20! On the trip both up and down we stop at The Lazy Days in Islamorada for the view and the Lazy Days style food. (key lime butter, tomatoes, and scallions on your bonefish is yummy). Al couldn't have been nicer or more informative - even for us experienced vacationers. This place has made our list of top 3 condo's to "check first and see if it's available". We would definately recommend this place to anyone as long as they didn't want the same week we did!

Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We rented Flamingo Beach and Sunset Celebration. The condos are even nicer in person and the location is great. Al was wonderful to work with and I would definitely rent from him again.

We stayed at at the Flamingo Beach property during March 2010. The property was located in the Truman Annex. It was a great location that was close to the beach, Mallory Square and Duval Street. The condo was clean and well maintained. The private patio was perfect for a quiet breakfast and relaxation in the afternoon. Al provided great recommendations and we enjoyed visiting many of them during our stay. We recommend this property and hope to stay there again on our next visit to Key West.

We thoroughly enjoyed our winter week in the Flamino Beach Condo. The location is within walking distance of all Duvall Street attractions in the heart of Key West, and close to the community pool. The condo apartment, itself, was clean, well maintained, and fully equiped with all the comforts of home. We will definitely be returning again to the Flamingo Beach Condo.

My sister and I shared a wonderful girls get-a-way at Flamingo Beach in Feb 2010. This condo is absolutely beautiful and in the perfect location for just about everything. The Truman Annex landscaping is tropical and lush...well maintained with friendly, safe atmosphere. The interior decor is even prettier than in the pictures. We especially loved the lush, tropical back patio...our own private oasis. The condo is perfect distance from the pool - which is very nice as well. Al was wonderful to work with. His suggestions for activities around town were perfect...I think we hit most of them. He was always very responsive to my contacts and we were fortunate to meet him in person at the "Green Parrot" (don't miss the Green Parrot - great fun!). We checked out his other condos at Truman Annex and all were great choices. I wouldn't hesitate to rent any of his properties. We will be back with husbands and family very soon.

102-6 is a great vacation condo in Key West. It is located in the very private Truman Annex only a few blocks away from all the activities on Duval Street. My wife and I spent a week there over the Christmas holiday and were very impressed with the unit, it is clean,easy to get to and very relaxing. Al was very helpful with so much information about activities, resturaunts & drinking establishments that are close by and a few others a short drive from your home away from home. Everyone we met wanted to know all about the Truman Annex and were jealous of our accomodations! You don't want to miss out on this location, it made our trip to Key West much more enjoyable than a small hotel room.

My family and I spent a week at Flamingo Beach. We had a very pleasant experience. The Truman Annex is a wonderful location since it is so close to Duval Street, Mallory Square, Fort Zach, and many other popular spots. The condo was decorated nicely and was equipped with everything you might need during your stay. It is close to the pool that is only available to Shipyard residents. We enjoyed sitting on the front and back patios. The condo owner quickly returned emails and provided plenty of information regarding what to expect upon arrival to the condo, such as where it is located, where to find the keys,and where to find the parking spot. Although I have vacationed in Key West several times, I enjoyed trying new restaurants that were suggested by the owner. We will vacation in Key West again and hope to stay at Flamingo Beach in the future.

We've stayed in several Truman Annex units, and this one was by far the best- beautifully decorated and well-equipped. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio which is large and private. The location to the pool is great- just a short walk down a beautiful pathway. The location in Truman Annex is convenient to all that Old Town has to offer. We felt very safe. The owner, who is very pleasant and accommodating, offered great tips on places to go and things to do during our visit. This will be our first choice for our next visit to Key West.
