This brand new, luxuriously furnished home is located in an upscale, quiet residential neighborhood in the heart of the village and just a 5 minute walk (REALLY) from Main St., Mirror Lake, the Olympic Center, Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon and every major activity in the village. While others search for a parking spot, you'll have a short, comfortable walk in the fresh mountain air! You can drive to this rental without ever having to navigate busy Main St. You'll be parked in your two-car garage, relaxing by the fire and enjoying the comforts of home while others are still stuck in Main St. traffic. Drive to grocery store, pharmacy, banks and gas stations likewise. The spacious garage allows for storage of your bikes, etc. You can bring all your outdoor recreation toys and feel peace of mind that they will be secure in the locked garage.

The 15' x 16' vaulted master bedroom features a beautiful, craftsman style king bed, sitting/reading area, private bath with jetted tub, separate shower, double sinks, walk-in closet, TV and spectacular sunset views overlooking the McKenzie Wilderness area. The second bedroom is furnished with full bed, dresser and large closet, and third bedroom has combination full/twin bunk bed (sleeps 3). A second full bath is located on this floor as well as an adjacent 8' x 13' balcony loft overlooking the two-story living room, great for getting away from it all with a good book.

Dining room seats 8 very comfortably. Adjacent is the formal living room with its towering window onto the sunset view that locals rave about and sharing half of the two-sided wood burning fireplace. A large kitchen with upscale appliances and seating island with cook-top opens up to the breakfast nook area with café table and chairs, and family room with convertible sofa, TV, sound system and DVD player. The family room also shares the other half of the wood burning fireplace. The family room features French doors that open to a deck facing Fawn Ridge to the West and catching the prevailing breeze from the pine forest across the road - sheer heaven in the warmer months and spectacular at sunset! The laundry room and powder room are located on this level as well

We are owners who live in Lake Placid and will personally assist you directly with any needs, should they arise while you are renting. We love to show off our beautiful village and will be happy to give you pointers and tips if you've never visited Lake Placid before (or even if you have!).

  • My wife and I stayed at this property in late September, 2009. The home, besides being brand new, was quite large with plenty of rooom, and is very nicely appointed with everything that one would need. It was not that cold while we were there, but I am certain the the garage would be much appreciated during the winter months. The location was another big plus as it was an easy walk to the main section of downtown on Mirror Lake, so one does not have to worry about driving or parking. Susan and Glen were wonderful hosts and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this property to anybody planning a trip to Lake Placid.

  • After searching for a home that would accommodate our family of three generations, we came upon Grandview Retreat. We couldn't have chosen a more beautiful rental. It was spacious, comfortable and the layout was perfect for our group. The furnishings are lovely and our young ones loved having breakfast at the counter seating area. The close proximity to town was a ++++. We walked most everywhere. It was a wonderful location for a family get-together. Location was perfect, the house was meticulous and the owners,who we were fortunate enough to meet, endearing. Nothing but love for the Grandview house!   • We rented the home for a destination wedding in Lake Placid this summer and had a great time. The accommodations were first class and within walking distance to everything downtown. I could not imagine a nicer setting for a special holiday. We parked the car and walked around this pretty little town. Friendly folks and great shops made our stay memorable. Although we never met our hosts they were always there if needed. A definite 10 for us. Thank you Susan and family

  • My wife and I were looking for a quite, convenient place to stay in Lake Placid for the two-week mid-tour leave from her deployment to Afghanistan when we came across the listing for the Grand View house on the VRBO web site. We had great and positive responses from Susan who was managing the rental for her mom and immediately knew this was the hosue for us. Not only was the house gorgeous, spacious, and beautifully outfitted, it could not have been more perfectly situated. We could (and did) walk to almost anything we needed or wanted to do including downtown dining, shopping, swimming in or walking around Mirror Lake, etc. The only times we needed to drive were when we were going to the far reaches of the village of Lake Placid or out of the village itself. We loved sitting out on the deck in the evening and just enjoying the quiet breezes. If we didn't live so far from Lake Placid, we'd likely have taken advantage of this gorgeous house having been on the market. Until it sells, which I'm sure won't take long, I'd recommend this rental to anyone looking for a perfect rental in a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Lake Placid.

  • Wow, what a beautiful house and a great location. It was just a 4 hour drive from our home in the lower Hudson Valley. The 2 car garage was wonderful - we kept the car snow free and all our winter "toys" in the other half of the garage. We were able to walk easily to the skating rink and to most all of the restaurants and shopping - literally no more than 5 or 6 minutes. Skiing at Whiteface was fantastic. We'd never been there before and we will definitely go back. There are really short lift lines and tons of beginner & intermediate skiing. Oh, the house. It was really wonderful. The master bedroom is to "die for"....jacuzzi tub was great after a cold day outside. I'd recommend this property to everyone. Thanks to the owners..they are wonderful!

  • We found this wonderful spot for our annual "couples" trip last fall. You can't find a better location - quick walk to Main St. and in a pretty, quiet neighborhood. The house is brand new and just beautiful. I'd love to BUY this place - it was on the market when we rented it. You'll love this spot!
