A cozy and charming cottage getaway. All the required amenities including comfortable beds. The location was good, far enough from the main street but easy walking and biking distance. We especially loved the deck and the proximity to a terrific bakery. The big screen TV.was appreciated after a busy day. Our activities during our stay included golfing, cycling, theatre, wineries and sailing.

A Real Gem

We loved every minute of our stay. We shared the cottage with another couple. There was plenty of room. The bedrooms were well appointed; beds very comfortable. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed for stay in meals as we BBQed quite a few times during our stay. The back deck is a great place to unwind with a glass of wine from one of the nearby vineyards after a day of touring the area. And on the only day where it rained, and later in the evenings, we made use of the extensive home theatre setup in the living room. It's walking distance from town, great restaurants and incredible shops. All in all it was nothing short of perfect and we look forward to going back.

Charming, quiet cottage in an idyllic, historic town

Our family had an absolutely charming, relaxing vacation courtesy of Captain Barry's lovely, well kept cottage Pugwash. This cottage is very well appointed, in a quiet neighborhood, and we easily walked to town, biked to the numerous paths and the town pool. My two children 8 and 10 enjoyed playing in the yard. The owner Barry welcomed us with open arms and made our stay very comfortable. We're going back! He also happens to captain a nice sailboat that we rented for a sail on Lake Ontario. The water was perfect! Definitely both thumbs up for Pugwash.

Just like HOME
Just like HOME
The owner met us at the house and gave us a tour. Immediately we saw that we were staying at his HOME. Which means everything you need is right there. Including a very private backyard - for both sun and shade lovers. Full, mature trees allow for some pretty great bird watching, while you sip your morning coffee on the deck. Downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake is a stroll away. The horse and buggies came by every morning. Best bakery around is almost right in the backyard - not your average cookies & cake place. Think bakery-as-art. And pretty delicious to boot. The property and house were very clean and well-maintained. The beds were incredibly comfortable to sleep in. It was just perfect for 2 couples. We were all very happy and comfortable there. We can't wait to go back next year.

I highly recommend this cottage. The house and garden were wonderful. Very comfortable, meticulously maintained, everything shipshape. Located a very pleasant 15 minute stroll to the heart of the historic district.Close enough for a run to the path along the Niagara Parkway. Great location for a visit to Niagara Falls, to tour the local vineyards, or to explore the historical sites of "Upper Canada".

The week spent at your cottage was the best week of the summer of 2009. The location was fabulous, so close to everything! The cozy, clean & comfortable cottage was equipped with everything possible to make our stay the best it could be. Definitely worth the price!! The sail to Toronto was the icing on the cake however. We will definitely be back and recommend your cottage to all! Thank you! Jola van der Linden & family

Our most relaxed and enjoyable holiday to date! We have never enjoyed walking so much! The region is absolutely beautiful and Niagara on the Lake is a real gem. We miss our morning strolls down to Queen St and our favourite coffee haunt!!My wife loved the variety and uniqueness of the quaint little stores..no ugly BiG Boxes here! Pugwash Cottage is charming and we felt instantly comfortable. The rear deck was a great place for when we needed a break from being tourists... one afternoon we heard the "clip clop" of hooves on pavement and then saw one of the local horse and carriages plod sedately by. Very laid back !! Port Dalhousie and the Dalhousie Yacht Club where the Taya Two is berthed is a real fun place and we thoroughly enjoyed our cruises on the Taya Two.My wife is not a sailor but never complained at all! She was impressed by the skill and confidence of "Captain Pugwash" and by my own newly taught sailing skills! We loved the picnics aboard and seeing those huge freighters entering and leaving the Welland Canal. We took an overnight side trip up to the Muskoka Lakes and what a trip that was. What a beautiful province Ontario is and we will return! Many thanks to Barry (Captain P )and Paula.

About: Hi! Thank you for visiting my listing. I acquired Pugwash Cottage in 2008 and have really enjoyed my semi-retirement completing extensive upgrading here and on my pride and joy..the boat of course! I personally welcome my guests and make sure they are comfortably settled in and oriented to the local scene! A great vacation starts with a special greeting and I look forward to meeting you at Pugwash Cottage! P.s The name comes from the 60's cartoon character Captain Pugwash...A grand old character ideal for lovers of sail and sea!
The pictures tell it all! This area is as good as it gets and offers so much for all ages and interests. The Niagara Gorge is as spectacular as the Falls themselves and Niagara On The Lake is the prettiest town I have yet visited in Canada...period. Sailing and motorcycling are my good weather passions and this area is ideal for both! I have it made!!
