Following a very long journey and some happy chaos at Los Cabos Airport, we finally located our daughter arriving separately from Seattle and headed north to the wonderful oasis of Puesta Del Sol. Melanie and Günter were waiting for us and we immediately knew we were home away from home. The casita is a lovely and very safe refuge and is perfectly portrayed in the photos on-line. Melanie and Günter are warm hosts and know everything about the area to help you have the best time possible in Baja California Sur. We enjoyed beautiful sunny weather during our 10 days in April. The air is crystal clear and at 6:30 in the evening the atmosphere turns a beautiful shade of pink. We spent most days lopping around in the swimming pool reading and looking at the heart stopping view of the Pacific. For those who like to cook, Melanie will arrange for the fish monger to visit and will send you to organic markets for beautiful produce. She also knows where to find the very best tortillas for those fish tacos you will most likely be preparing. In addition to staying at a wonderful casita, you are also in an amazing place in Baja. Just 15 km from the casita is the legendary village of Todos Santos (aka pueblo magico). It is a charming town complete with amazing restaurants, art galleries and lively nighttime venues. We particularly loved El Perico Azul where there was a featured Cuban jazz singer and dancer. Don’t miss ‘Big Red Wednesday’ at La Bodega. All great fun! At the end of the day we headed back to our beloved Puesta Del Sol and communed with an amazing starry sky viewing constellations we had never imagined. Thank you Melanie and Günter for being such caring and gracious hosts. Although we were very sad to leave, we will definitely return to PDS where we know we’ll be lucky guests receiving the best hosting in Baja!

Great Vacation

We have three words to describe our stay: Melanie, Guenter, and Xandro Melanie, your tips on things to do were great. The hatching and releasing of the Leatherback turtles was the highlight Guenter, great sense of humor and it was fun hearing your plans for marathons. Xandro, Thank you for the great massage and the three Yoga lessons. We thoroughly enjoyed putting our bodies in new positions! We have continued yoga here in Seattle Your casita was wonderful and the privacy of your pool and beach was a joy. Sad there were no whales, but you don't control that. Thanks again I guess that is more than three words!

What a great stress buster!

What a peaceful, beautiful retreat from the stress of day to day life. The Casita is beautiful, comfortable, well appointed and absolutely spotless. Melanie and Guenter are, by far, the most gracious hosts you will ever meet. They go out of their way to make sure your every need is met. Their recommendations are always spot on We spent most of our time in the lounge chairs next to the pool reading, drinking a refreshing beverage and whale watching. Although we were not there during peak season, we still were blessed to see quite a few whales. They come in so close directly in front of the property you will know you are experiencing something you may never see again..unless you return of course. The town of Todas Santos is so quaint and yet full of wonderful stores, places to eat and galleries. A trip to town is never complete without a stop for the wonderful home made ice cream with such wonderful exoctic flavors such as avacado and mango. Melanie and Guenter would be happy to give you directions. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone that is looking to get away from the crowds of the big tourist areas and is looking for some special time in a very private setting. You can walk every day on the private beach without seeing many people at all. I think we saw a total of 8 or 9 people the entire six days we were there.

My husband and I had such a relaxing time, and absolutely recommend a stay at this beautiful setting to anyone longing for what we experienced: Melanie and Guenter - hosts who are so accomodating with all you could ask for - from a container for my sangria to recommended local restaurants, best street food vendors in Todos Santos, where to make produce and grocery purchases, where to find fantastic margaritas just up the highway, and a funky coffee shop very close by. And the superb fresh fish purchased for us in advance of our arrival. The cool Pacific breeze and the leaves of palm trees dancing at our windows in the morning...authentic Mexico with bright colors and wonderful food in Todos Santos...as much privacy as you could ask for... and every evening a breathtaking sunset...this vacation casita and Melanie and Guenter deserve every superlative that's been written! Thank you for helping us create such wonderful memories.

What a fantastic place.Very relaxing with beautiful secluded beach, whale watching and perfect hosts. Every recommendation from Melanie and Guenter was spot on! This was the peaceful break we were looking for.The casita was well appointed and comfortable with the perfect ambiance. We highly recommend this for anyone wanting a true mexican experience and wants to miss the resort scene. Todo Santos is a delight. Stars were unbelieveable.

Melanie and Guenter have created the perfect vacation hideaway. The Casita is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need. It also features the most incredible ocean view. We nedded rest and spent most of our week hanging out on the Casita porch. We watched whales and more whales and whales doing amazing things. More whales and all just outside the break in full view. Melanie and Guenter are perfect hosts and made sure we had all the area information we could use. They arranged for fresh fish and sent us to the best produce and the world's best Tortillas. We grilled in their outdoor kitchen most evenings and ate fresh organic produce and strawberries from practically next door. We can not rave enough about our wonderful experience. We knew from the photos that Puesta Del Sol would be a special place and so it was. The casita had everything we needed & wanted including the lullaby of Pacific waves. The view from the casita was awesome, the view from the patio was even more so. The whales never failed to impress. Awesome sunrises and sunsets. The long stretch of beach was stunning and virtually private. Really appreciated the fresh seafood delivered to the front door and the fresh organic vegetables from the farmer on Thursday afternoons were delicous. Be sure to visit Gardenia, the roadside diner for an excellent Mexican meal and the best margueritas ever anywhere. Melinda and Gunther were most gracious and generous hosts. we actually arrived at melanie and guenter's a day early - cosmically we must have known just how very special it was going to be. the days that we spent here were other worldly; we fell asleep to the sound of the surf and ocean breezes running through the palm trees surrounding our cozy casita. we woke each morning to lavender sun rises, made a pot of coffee and sat on our deck staring out at the ocean and sky. we'd grab our books + binoculars and lay poolside for a few hours and would then make our way to the most deliriously perfect beach imaginable ( only steps away ); white sand, mesmerizing surf and not another soul around - except the whales and the pygmy manta rays playing in the waves. a fisherman stops by melanie and guenter's weekly ( melanie had told us about this when we booked our stay so we pre ordered whatever was fresh ) and when we arrived - fresh shrimp and sea bass were awaiting us - which we barbecued in the outdoor kitchen that night. melanie and guenter were the most gracious hosts and made us feel so welcome - sharing cocktails with us while we watched the sunset, making sure everything was to our liking and letting us in on all their favourite places to eat*, things to see. we returned home as new people, inspired, deeply relaxed and planning our next visit to this sublime, unforgettable retreat. this is a place where you can just plunk for your entire vacation but its also only 20 minutes outside of todos santos - which is a gorgeous, genuine little town full of galleries, really fabulous places to eat ( melanie and guenter will tell you about those ) and fun to explore. we rented a car so we could come into town to stock up on groceries and to just soak up the atmosphere of todos santos. contrary to the negative press that mexico gets in the states and canada - we felt completely safe here, people were so gracious and friendly... so much so that we looked at real estate ( thanks to melanie who referred us to a wonderful agent ) in the area and hope to spend a big part of our lives here. * melanie told us about a place just up the road called GARDENIA'S - that served the most memorable shrimp casedillas and margueritas made with fresh orange juice. a MUST!!!!

We had such an amazing time here. Melanie and Geunter have thought about just about everything that you could possibly need to have a wonderful stay. The casita is so nice, clean, well equipped for cooking (which we did a lot of), lounging, whale watching, napping, whatever. The beach is incredibly private and beautiful. Although you can't swim in the ocean very easily right at the house, swimmable sections of the sea were just a short walk away. And of course there is the pool, which is wonderful. Having access to a cooler, beach umbrella, chairs, and boogie boards were an added surprise that made the trip that much more "cush." And Melanie and Geunter have a wealth of knowledge and information about where to go to get exactly what it is you may be looking for at any given moment. We truly had a magical time here, and we would highly recommend it, especially for the traveler who is looking for a place that is not very touristy, yet has just about all of the amenities that a more built up area has. For someone planning a surprise honeymoon for his future wife, Melanie and Guenter quickly put me at ease. I'd come across this place over half a year before the wedding and had fallen in love at once. As I made contact and started corresponding with Melanie, I realized that not only was the location gorgeous and perfectly situated, but that our hosts were sincerely interested in us having the best visit possible. I was a bit nervous how my wife would like it, but when we finally pulled up to the house, she went into exclamations of delight! Even I was pleasantly surprised since the pictures on this site, though they do capture the location accurately, simply can't prepare you for the stunning clarity of the desert light or the thundering rhythm of the surf. The following week was full of awesome Mexican fun! Between boogie boarding, shopping, collecting seashells, releasing baby sea turtles, and chasing migrating whales along the beach (they were moving much faster than we thought!), we had plenty of things to do when we weren't taking our much-needed R&R. We never even had to leave home unless we wanted to since we had taken Melanie's advice and loaded up on groceries before we came. We had a lot of fun cooking in the fully equipped kitchen (there were even a couple cookbooks that helped us fry up some deliciously fresh red snapper and sea bass). While our excursions were exciting and gave us a real taste of Mexico, it was always nice having a safe, cozy home to return to. As hosts, Melanie and Guenter went above and beyond what anyone could expect. They're very warm, generous and professional. Melanie's willingness to arrange activities and even reserve fresh seafood was greatly appreciated. During our stay, we never felt intruded upon, but neither did we feel unwelcome. My wife and I are convinced that even if we'd spent our honeymoon at the most exclusive, high-class resort it would never have matched the freedom, beauty and personal concern we experienced at Villa Puesta del Sol. I LOVED THE KITCHEN'S EASY TO PREPARE MEALS. THE QUICK TRIPS TO TOWN, (PESCADERO, TODOS SANTOS). EVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND A SUN. MORN. MEDITATION. THE DELICIOUS PLACES TO EAT AND ESPECIALLY TO ENJOY THE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS, (LA POSADAS). BEAUTIFUL DECORATIONS THOUGHOUT THE AREA. THE MEXCANOS GIVE LOTS OF THOUGHT TO CREATE THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS. AND, NOT TO FORGET MELANIE AND GEUNTER'S GREAT, KIND CARE TO SET US AT EASE AND COMFORT. THEY WERE ESPECIALLY SENSITIVE TO OUR PRIVACY AND ADDED JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CONNECTION AND CONCERN TO OUR STAY. OUR LITTLE HOME WAS SPOTLESS AND VERY COMFORTABLE, TASTEFYLLY FURNISHED AND VERY PLEASANT TO BE IN. THE GARDEN SURROUNDING THE CASITA AND HOME WERE TRULY A WORK OF ART. WE WERE ESPECIALLY GRATEFUL THAT WE HAD A SECURITY GATE THAT ASSURED OUR SENSE OF EASE AND SAFETY. BECAUSE WE HAD EXTREMELY COOLER WEATHER THEN IS NORMAL, SUGGEST BRINGING A SWEATER.

If you are accustomed to cruises or resorts, don't stay here...you will never want to do a resort again. Staying with Melanie and Gunther is like staying at your own private vacation rental with friends that are only there is you need something. The property is super clean and beautiful in every respect and a good value for the money. The guest house is stocked with pretty much all of the ancillary stuff you need so you only need to buy food, if that's how you do it. We can't say enough about Melanie and Gunther and if you look, you will see that every single review to date rates 100%, on over 50 reviews. There's a reason for that - namely that they genuinely care about you and your visit with them and that is abundantly clear from the beginning. So if you like private settings on the beach in a beautiful home with optional help/advice from some of the nicest people you've ever met, this place is it.

After stopping for lunch on the beach (clearest water I’ve ever seen) we headed off to snorkel with Sea Lions. If you’ve snorkeled with fish before … congratulations … you’ll never enjoy that again. The Sea Lions are amazing … they are so curious of you and playful … there are hundreds of them living on rock in the middle of the ocean. They swim right up to your face and as soon as you think you should duck … they veer off. Just watching them play, swim and bark in their environment while allowing us to be so interactive with them … we could have done that all day and then some. Do take note that this is an ALL DAY trip … I think we left around 7:30am and probably got back around 7pm that evening. It’s an easy drive … Day 3 was a chill day. We spent the morning laying on the beach listening to the waves crash before heading to the Cerritos Beach Club for the afternoon. Was a good time … locally that’s where the surfers spend their time. A nice bar and friendly staff. They have Direct TV … we were able to catch some NFL games on that Sunday. Day 4 was our last day in Todos Santos. We spent the AM walking the beach and devising a plan to come back (aka move to the Baja) before heading south to Cabo for the rest of our trip. Few items to note: Todos Santos is a fun little village. We found ourselves there almost every evening to grab a drink or just to walk through the shops. Our favorite waterhole: Hotel California (great Sangria). But you can also find amazing lunch, dinner and drink specials at many of the restaurant/bars. I’m sure we bought beers for 15 pesos (just over a US dollar) Guenter is the most fit 63-year old man I have ever met. The guy is a machine. If you like to run.. I’d bet you can find him most every morning stretching outside the gates and getting ready to run at least 5 miles. In fact the day before we left I believe he cranked out a 20-mile run! There are a few shops/bars between the casita and Todos Santos. Stop in for a drink… some of the friendliest folks we’ve met, with great stories of how they migrated to Baja. Keep an eye out for Whales and Sea Turtles! We are so glad we went with our gut instinct of staying here. When you book on-line you never know what you’re getting into sometimes … but you can be assured that you won’t have any regrets staying here. We wouldn’t have been able to experience as much as we did if it wasn’t for Melanie and Guenters help … and that made the stay beyond worth it

Booked a 11-days trip to the Baja and were so lucky to be able to spend 4 days @ this gem for our 6th wedding anniversary. And just as you are now … we researched many properties in this area to stay at. And as you know there are a lot of nice places to stay … as amazing as they all appear the one thing that sold us upfront on this property was having Melanie and Guenter as an “pseudo” onsite concierge. On a side note … two of the nicest individuals you’ll ever meet … with an amazing story of how they came to the Baja. They are both as friendly and helpful as you can imagine and give you as much privacy as you’d ever need. We certainly enjoyed our chats with them … but we really rarely seen them at all .. they stay completely in the background. Anyways … we can all to the basics on our own (walk the beach, layout in the sun, swim in the pool) but IMO what set this apart from the other properties is that they willingly and wanted to help us organize, plan and book anything we wanted to do to ensure our stay was perfect. For us they handled the booking of Yoga, Massages, Dinner Reservations, Snorkeling In La Paz (with Sea Lions … you have to do this!), ordering of fresh sea food, where to go and what to see, etc… Having the peace of mind that you can rely on someone with experience and knowledge of the area and organizing that for you before you arrive … priceless! The guesthouse is perfect for a couple … not to big … not too small … was just right. There is a nice lap pool just below the guest house and the beach and ocean are just steps away. You can walk for miles either direction and not see a soul. As peaceful as it gets! The breeze off the pacific ocean kept the temps comfortable and absolutely no humidity! Perfecto! Todos Santos is a fun little village. We found ourselves there almost every evening to grab a drink or just to walk through the shops. Our favorite waterhole: Hotel California (sangria’s are really good). Guenter is the most fit 65-year old man I have ever met. The guy is a machine. If you like to run, I’d bet you can find him most every morning stretching outside the gates and getting ready to run at least 5-miles. This vacation was just what the doctor ordered!!! Peaceful and quiet, beautiful and relaxing. Everything we would ever need was provided for us. The view of the sand and ocean from both our porch and the pool. Lounges and hammocks to sunbathe on. The pristine private beach to walk on (it was so clean I didn't wear shoes for 10 days). The perfect casita overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden and the pacific ocean, that has everything you would ever need. It was so organized and decorated lovely with a warm feeling of home away from home. Melanie and Guenter were so helpful and knowledgeable about all things to do while we were there from tourist shopping to the best way to buy fresh fish to watching the releasing of sea turtles and alerting us when whales passed by. The outdoor kitchen/BBQ was perfect we grilled fresh fish and veggies mostly every night. I highly recommend this vacation property for your next vacation. Sincerely, Donna Karol

If you are reading this review you are a smart traveler researching your vacation destination thoroughly. You can stop here! You’ve found paradise! I am happy to report that our recent stay at this magnificent location was not only what we desired but it far surpassed anything I imagined as I sat at my desk excited to plan a vacation. From the moment you turn into the property and off the main road you see the vast blue ocean in front of you. It is easy to see you’ve landed in a very special place. Our hosts Melanie and Guenter greeted us immediately from under canopies of pink flowers in a perfectly maintained garden. They were so gracious, we knew we were in good hands and could let out our city collective sigh. Trust this obsessively picky person to tell you that not only the grounds, but also the guest casita, were immaculately clean. It was as if no one had been there before us and it was there, just waiting for our arrival. Bright, clean, orderly, thoughtful, spacious, and welcoming barely begins to describe entering the guesthouse. Windows and light everywhere, views to live for! As we walked the property the sheer beauty was mind boggling. Complete solitude, no shoes, safety, and empty beaches as far as the eye could see. The photos hardly do this property justice. The sparkling pool right outside your door, the ocean beyond, we couldn’t believe our eyes. Deciding which kind of fresh fish to grill in the garden cabana kitchen became the toughest decision we had to make for days. We ventured to the town of Todos Santos a couple of times, which is about 10 minutes easy drive away. What a quaint, authentic Mexican village, quiet and friendly, and a good place to grab fresh tortillas and other supplies. It is also fun to enjoy a meal in a restaurant there or do some tourist shopping. Definitely plan on the advantage of being able to cook at the casita during your trip. Shop on the way to the property so you conveniently have what you need at arm’s reach. The kitchen is fully equipped and it is fun to cook there. The breezes gently blow through the casita and the temperature was perfect. I worried about not having A/C but there is no need here! Imagine drifting off to sleep with the sounds of the sea being the only sounds you hear. If you are looking for peace, quiet, solitude, nature, and nurturing your soul, this is it. You will feel safe, secure, taken care of, and completely spoiled. A place like no other!

This is the longest deserted beach I have ever seen! It is so quiet and yet if you want to experience Mexico it is only a 10 minute drive to Todos Santos. Melanie and Guenter are impeccable! They have thought of everything and they are the most gracious hosts. Ask them about the fish monger that brings fresh shrimp and fish right to your door. I highly recommend a long stay at this beautiful getaway. It will be the most restful trip you will ever take.

IF you are looking for a place to relax off the 'grid' this is the place. My husband and I spent our belated Honeymoon in this beautiful Casita. Our first night in Todos Santos we visited a little Mexican Restaurant off the main drag near Cerritos, highly recommended, called Felipe's. Felipe and his wife Maria welcomed us, put a bottle of wine on ice and served us like royalty. The next day Melanie, the host, arranged couples massage for my husband and I in the Casita, HIGHLY recommended!!! The same evening Melanie and Guenter made us homemade Margaritas with chips and homemade guacamole! The four of us talked for well over three hours. They are a joy and a pleasure to know. The hosts stay in the background and their house is detached from the Casita, so you have lots of privacy. When you have a question, they are just steps away with an answer. Melanie arranged us to meet the local fish monger on Saturday morning for us to buy fresh fish, shrimp, and scollops. After that she pointed us in the right direction for the local produce store where we stocked up for the week. We love cooking and the full kitchen is completely equipped. My favorite part of my stay was the hammock by the pool and the refreshing pool with ocean view. My husband enjoyed his daily walks down the 5 miles of private beach (we only saw two people out there the entire time we were there), and his sitings of turtles and whale water spouts - he even met a free range donkey down on the sand. Villa Puesta del Sol is truly a romantic, relaxing, beachfront retreat. The on-site owners, Guenter and Melanie, have created a beautiful, serene, private oasis, that they graciously share with their guests. We looked at LOTS of other VRBO properties before deciding on this one. One of the things that was a deciding factor for us (besides the beautiful pictures) were all the positive reviews. The description of the grounds and casita are exactly as you will find them. The casita was clean, well maintained, with all the amenties and extras galore. We took advantage of massages at the casita and a yoga class on the patio - thank you Zandro. Melanie was great at communicating with us before we arrived, providing great driving directions, along with suggestions about places to stop and pick up groceries before reaching the casita. We had a wonderful, positive experience, and would without hesitation recommend staying at this property. Thank you soooo much Guenter and Melanie.

(~~See Part 1: This is the place you've been looking for!~~) Continued: This place is so quiet. Well, except for the ocean waves. Except for the circadas making noises in the morning. And, except for some gecko clicking sounds you hear once the sun sets. I can handle that kind of noise. No airplanes, freeways, traffic, or people noise. The beach. Yes, “heaven on earth.” The whole time during our stay of five days, we never spotted another person on the beach while we were there. There were some other sandprints, most likely Melanie and Geunter’s, and there were sea turtle tracks in the sand. Otherwise, the beach was ours. No worries of a crowded beach. No worries of parking to get to the beach, as we just walked down the stairs from “home.” No worries of seeing others in their beachwear, comparing myself to how they looked, haha! True, we came during “off” season in August, but even in the peak season, this beach would still be secluded. I first was looking at places to stay in Cabo San Lucas. I couldn’t figure out where to stay—all places seemed to be about the same: lots of rooms for guests, crowded pools, and crowded beaches. And that was true even in the “off” season. We wanted more privacy and more peace and quiet. If we were going to spend this money to get away, we wanted more. Plus, we needed the R&R as both of my parents had died earlier in the year—it was traumatic to us. And, who wants to share their 20th anniversary with a bunch of strangers on the beach? Well, that’s just us. If you are needing to party every night and want to be surrounded by people being busy with the night life each night, well, this may not be the place for you, unless you don’t mind driving to the action. Simply put, Villa Puesta del Sol is awesome and amazing, and we most-highly recommend it! All of the previous, wonderful, reviews are accurate. I understand the concern of searching for a place on the Internet, not knowing who is reviewing the place of interest, and wanting to make the best possible choice—especially a place in “another country.” I am very picky, particular, and detailed-oriented, so wanted to find the “perfect” placed for our 20th anniversary, and needed a place of true peace and relaxation after severe hardships faced earlier in the year for us. Well, THIS was THE place! First off, communication with Melanie from the beginning via email was always easy and friendly. Also, she and Geunter are great resources, and can help answer about any question imaginable regarding your stay. Next, you will rarely meet greater hosts. During your stay you will have all the privacy you need, and yet availability for any questions you may have once there. Melanie and Geunter are very gracious hosts, and if you’d like, you have the opportunity to spend a little time with them over margaritas or whatever by the pool, as you arrive and depart this oasis. They have any information you need about your stay—where to eat, where to go for your activities of interest, etc. They can also place an order with local fisherman so that you can have these items in your refrigerator when you arrive. You also have the opportunity to have a massage and/or a yoga session from a local masseur, without having to step out your door! (We loved our massages!) Okay—but what about the place? After all, that is the main reason you are checking this place out! ~Wow.~ You will be amazed. Melanie and Geunter reside in the main house, again, “invisible” to you if needed. You will stay in the guest house, or casita, which is an upstairs location which overlooks the pool, and of course, the ocean. Everything in the casita is very clean and comfortable. There’s a stocked kitchen, so you are able to cook your meals if you’d like—no fast food places around! We also enjoyed grilling at the palapa bar next to the pool! In the morning, you can relax eating breakfast on your porch, watching the ocean. At lunch time, you will see the sun glistening on the ocean. In the evening, you will see some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ve ever seen as the sun kisses the ocean in the horizon. (~~See Part 2: This is the place you've been looking for!~~)

We had a wonderful time staying with Melanie and Guenter, and really everything you read on this cite is accurate. They are very friendly and solicitous (Melanie twice purchased fish from a local merchant on my behalf because I wouldn't be able to--including once when she hadn't yet met me), yet make sure to give you plenty of privacy if you desire. The beach is practically deserted and if you desire to go boogie boarding, Los Cerritos beach is just up the road. Staying with Melanie and Guenter is ridiculously relaxing, and we'd recommend it to everyone.

My wife and I spent the first week of our married life at this wonderful slice of paradise. We wanted to be far away from the resort lifestyle and just be with each other and enjoy the beach and sun. We got that and more! The apartment is perfect, the pool is very nice, the beach is wonderful and private (we saw two people on it the entire time we were there). To top it off, twelve miles away is the town of Todos Santos and it is LOADED with good restaurants. Fresh seafood, local Mexican, Steak, Italian, and more. Melanie and Guenter were very helpful with food recommendations and ideas for activities, etc. Wonderful hosts! Overall it was one of the best weeks of our life and we give it two thumbs WAYYY UP! We stayed at Villa Puesta del Sol in May 2011. From the very moment we entered the gates to the house, we felt completely welcomed and accomodated. The care and consideration that Melanie and Guenter provide is off the charts! We've been to Mexico countless times and this was the most relaxing vacation -- mainly do to the location, accomodations and Melanie and Guenter's delightful hospitality. The guest house is super cute, nicely furnished, private and had everything we needed in regard to cooking, storage, etc. Melanie and Guenter give you a ton of privacy, so we felt the like the grounds, pool, outdoor kitchen were our own. Fabulous set up! While we were there, we took a few trips to Pescadero (cute town), Todo Santos, and Cerritos beach. We also took a day trip to La Paz, where Melanie had set up a fantastic snorkling excursion for us. We had done this similar excusion 15 years ago, but it wasn't as comprehensive as this one. I highly recommend it and would do it again in a heartbeat. We have zero complaints and we highly recommend it!

Not only is this place amazingly quiet, it is kept up to the highest standard by 2 of the nicest people with an incredible story. We loved the beach, the security, Melanie & Guenter, and of course the immaculate studio with amazing views. Perfect romantic location, away from the other tourists, yet close enough to access all that Baja has to offer. All this for a very generous price. The only drawback is the wi-fi tends to be spotty at times. We look forward to a return visit!

We stayed in Melanie and Guenter's guesthouse March 20th for 4 nights. The reception we received was overwhelming. Great hosts, nothing too much trouble, felt as though we had known them for years and were returning home, even though it was our first visit. The location is away from the crowds with excellent beach access. The accommodation was spotless, warm and inviting. Todos Santos, minutes away by car (you do need one here) is funky, full of interesting shops and great people. Melanie advised us one day that there was to be a baby turtle release. We went and felt good to see our personal six youngsters head on their exciting journeys to the great unknown. fully recommend this place unconditionally. Well done Melanie and Guenter.

This rental, which we found after looking at many other options in the area, caught our attention because of its many excellent reviews. Of course it didn't hurt to see the photos of the place! The photo of the shimmering blue pool just tantalizing feet from the ocean was very alluring, especially as swimming in the ocean there is quite limited due to strong currents and a sharp drop-off just offshore. We arrived to find a well-stocked guest house with plenty of cookware/utensils/spices/oils in the kitchen; lots of towels/shampoos/lotions in the bathroom; magazines and brochures about the locale and available activities; restaurant reviews and menus; a bookcase full of reading material; a tv (with a few L.A. stations), DVD player and boombox for our amusement; beach chairs/umbrella/beach towels set out daily; hammock/chairs/outdoor palapa with kitchen/bar... and again, M and G, our charming hosts who were always within shouting distance if we needed them and invisible when we didn't. As my wife commented, it was like staying with friends! We shared a few evenings on the patio drinking margaritas with them and even had lunch out together the day before we left. Many of the businesses in Todos Santos are familiar with M and G and it was to our advantage to mention that we were their guests. As I was there celebrating my 50th birthday, we chose a local restaurant, Los Adobes, which had fantastic food and even brought me out flan with a candle for dessert! When we feel asleep in the sun after downing some killer strawberry margaritas at Cerritos Beach and both got sunburned, they came to the rescue with a bottle of aloe vera which, literally, saved our skins. Whatever we needed was taken care of with a smile. The price for the rental was very good considering all the amenities that were offered. The best part was being outside of a bigger city like Cabo or La Paz; the quiet ocean/desert scene had few other tourists around and it was very serene and uncrowded in local eateries and shops in Todos Santos. We ate at many taquerias along the streets and highways, bought fresh fish from the local fishmonger and even attended a morning yoga class at the beach led by Zandro, who also gave us massages in the privacy of our guesthouse. Fantastic! I would not only highly recommend this rental to singles or couples (it is, after all, only studio accommodations) for a quiet retreat, but the area is great for fishing and boating enthusiasts too.

A Slice of Heaven in the Best Place on Earth!

Our recent stay, Feb 6 to 24, 2011 was our third stay with our good friends Melanie & Guenter in the past four years. There are so many reasons we come back to Baja Sur (our 6th visit in past 7 years) and to Villa Puesta del Sol in Rancho Nuevo. Rancho Nuevo just south of Pescadero and Todos Santos is perfectly situated to experience complete solitude with the environment; a deserted exquisite 7km beach from point to point, perfect for beach walking 9we do about 20kms daily); gray whales watching right at the shoreline filled with an almost spiritual experience as they spyhop and play right in front of you; security in the only gated community in the area; convenience of small restaurants and stores nearby; Todos Santos an experience all of its own only 20 minutes away with incredible foods, shopping and art galleries; wildlife like you've never experienced before all around you; the sunsets, omg - they are the best we have ever seen anywhere in our travels. Villa Puesta del Sol - provides everything you could ever want/need for a vacation home right on the beach; the Casita is perfectly sized, on this trip our 29 year old daughter joined us for the first week and the three of us were very comfortable in the Casita; our favourite evening pastime before dinner, sitting on the porch watching the sunset, the whales and enjoying a glass of wine, very romantic; private pool area where you can relax and watch the ocean/whales; a quick dinner prep of incredible local seafood that is available right at the door every Saturday morning from a local fisherman; Massage or Yoga right in your Casita or in group at Rancho Nuevo can be arranged easily.. Melanie & Guenter - the number one reason we return every year to spend our vacation at Villa Puesta del Sol. Incredible wonderful friends; great laughs and chats; help with anything you need; great insights that have helped us in our own nutrition, health and positive business outlook for the future; and most of all close dear friends for life! Our week in Melanie and Guenter's casita near Todos Santos was wonderful! The accomodations were as comfortable as advertised, the hospitality was delightful, and the whale action was never-ending! Daily walks on the nearly-private beach were a real treat as was sleeping with with the ocean's roar in the background. Melanie and Guenter were very helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations. Loved having the privacy of our own home yet having them as new friends. Enchanting stay

We had a wonderful, peaceful time at this villa. The casita is clean, the view is amazing and we were lucky enough to have a show of whales coming very close to the shore. Our hosts, Melanie and Guenter, were so nice and helpful! They did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable and pleased with our stay. Melanie gave us all kind of useful instructions and info and even made reservations for an excursion for us. This is definitely different from the Caribbean holidays we were used to but we thoroughly enjoyed the mix of the Pacific Ocean and the desert. We would recommend renting this property without question.

Wow! This spot is just gorgeous and suited my wife and me just perfectly for our 20th anniversary. Beautiful views of the ocean and beach; just a 4 mile stretch to a great swimming/surfing beach; and a little farther to Todos Santos with many fine restaurants and taco stands, not to mention great ice cream (try the lemon-rosemary, yum!). Melanie and Guenter could not have been more welcoming and accommodating with local and accurate advice. They are very warm and gracious and really want to see their guests have a great time. We considered ourselves very fortunate to have found their casita and shared this special place (though they also do a great job of respecting their guests privacy as well) with them for a short 8 days.

We were Melanie’s and Günther’s guests at Villa Puesta del Sol in the week before Christmas and had a fantastic time. Absolutely everything was perfect. Migrating whales and dancing mantas in the sea; a marvelous, almost deserted beach; a wonderful pool area were we spend hours just relaxing and reading; and last but not least the perfect service of our loveabel hosts. We arrived as guests, but did feel more like good friends after a few days. We really recommend this place and would definetly love to come back some time.

Ultimate Retreat for the Mind, Body & Soul

My friend & I saw this listing quite by accident when looking online for a relaxing place to go for vacation and, when there was an unexpected opening during the Thanksgiving week, we decided to take a chance. It was one of the best decisions ever - Villa Puesta del Sol is definitely all that is viewed & described on the website, as well as so much more. We will never forget our amazing experiences -watching the incredible sunsets over the ocean horizon, the sunrises over the mountains behind us, the whales, and the release of baby turtles. The entire ambiance was just incredible & was strongly enhanced by our most charming & gracious hosts, Melanie & Guenter, who were an invaluable source of information about what to do, where to go & how to get there when we decided to explore the surrounding areas - while also allowing plenty of privacy or sharing their fantastic company. Although my friend & I alternated sharing the bed & the couch, the couch is extremely comfortable for people who may need more than one bed. Every convenience & more is provided that guests might need for their stay - including the wonderful soft terrycloth robes in the closets - & the guest house is incredibly clean & comfortable. I definitely had one of the best nights sleep in years listening to the waves with the ocean breeze coming through the windows. The quaint little town of Todos Santos is not far away & was fun to explore, shop & try out new restaurants with the best fresh seafood. Our week went by way too fast & I felt very nostalgic about having to leave this peaceful oasis - my only hesitation in telling others about this place is that if the secret gets out to many others, it may be difficult to book another future reservation, especially if they find out Melanie makes the world's all-time best margaritas! Can't wait to return - thanks again Melanie & Guenter!

Villa Puesta del Sol was the location for a recent vacation and we loved it! Melanie and Guenter are great hosts; not only did Melanie tell me where to stop and pick up groceries on the way in, she also offered to arrange for local fresh fish to be in the fridge upon our arrival ($14 for five days worth of red snapper and fresh scallops). It's the little details like that that make staying here so great. The casita was comfortable and cozy, the pool the perfect temperature, and the beach down below empty for miles. If you are looking for Cabo craziness, it's probably not a great fit. But if you want to get away from it all, watch beautiful sunsets without anyone else around, cook your own freshly caught fish, and RELAX, this is a great option. Many of the reviews talk about how it would be a great spot for those 55+. We are a couple that's 26 & 30 and we really enjoyed the privacy and quiet Villa Puesta Del Sol afforded us. There are great beaches with blended drinks served in the sand just a few miles away, so if you are looking for that, too, it's definitely doable. Or, you can always pick up fruit and your beverage of choice and make your own blended drink with the blender provided :)

A Fabulous Escape

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Villa Puesta del Sol. The casita is well-appointed with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. Melanie and Guenter are gracious, interesting and entertaining hosts and were very helpful in directing us to activities and restaurant choices in the area. The highlight, though, is having a beach and a pool for yourselves, enjoying the ocean breezes and beautiful sunsets. Not to mention witnessing mantas jumping, the migration of whales, pelicans skimming the waves and the opportunity to release baby sea turtles. This was by far our most memorable vacation.

Villa Puesta Del Sol offered my family and I a wonderful vacation in the magical spot. Melanie and Guenter were the perfect host and hostess providing everything we needed down to the smallest detail. They were helpful from where to eat (great local joint just up the street) to which swimming beach to go to, (also close by), and everything in between. The accommodations were very clean, well maintained and comfortable, the views spectacular, and after a few days we spent more and more time on the property enjoying the comfort and beauty. My favorite was the palapa (sp?) on the beach, just down the stairs from the pool. We were able to cook our meals there and the star gazing was spectacular. Where do we begin to describe one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations we have had . Well we could begin with the whales that froliced only 75 meters off shore ,we saw six one day ! ,Or the fantastic crashing surf and romantic sunsets .The walks on kilometers of beatifull beach watching the pelicans glide over the waves . The accomadations were clean and as described in the profile .Melanie and Guenter were the perfect hosts ,there when you needed them yet providing us with all the privacy we wanted .They provided a wealth of information about the area ,everthing from restraunts and shopping to a great guide for fishing . We had a terrific time in at this casita. It is clean, well appointed and exactly as described. We echo what everyone says about the hosts, Melanie and Guenter. They take great pride in the property and do everything they can to provide you with a perfect stay. And best of all, we made a terrific friendship over the course of our visit. We will miss them and hope to see them again soon!

We just got back from one of the smoothest vacations in a long time. Melanie and Guenter make it just that easy for you. They are a wealth of information and a joy to get to know. All the creature comforts, beautiful setting just like everyone says. Easy access from the highway, which is actually a big thing down there. Hopefully we will be returning soon. Fabulous from each sunrise through star gazing at night -- absolutely beautiful! Waking up each morning to a view of the ocean was awesome! Having visited the area for many years, this was the first time we stayed a ways out of town and while I had reservations at the thought of cooking most of our meals while on vacation since there are no restaurants within walking distance, it actually turned out to be great! The beautiful and peaceful surroundings allowed us to totally relax so that we actually enjoyed cooking and leisurely meals! With a rental car it was easy to make day trips to lively Cerritos Beach and intoTodos Santos for shopping and socializing, and we spent one night in Cabo to visit friends and so we could go out fishing early the next day. Melanie and Guenter were gracious and concientious hosts and even presented us with a card and flowers on our anniversary!! The listing descriptions of this property and amenities are very accurate, and it is clean and immaculately maintained. We were very impressed by the solar power system, too -- very efficient! It was a wonderful, romantic getaway for our 25th Anniversary!

We just got back, and are already thinking when we can go back again. You can just relax or be as adventuresome as your heart desires. Plenty to see and explore. Or just be laid back and enjoy the wonderful weather. You could not ask for better hosts. Melanie and Guenter can clue you in on all the hot spots. From shops to the best food stops.
