Two adults and two mini dashounds enjoyed our week in the NC Mountains. The rental was exactly as described. Very clean, nicely decorated, furnished with everything we needed and well maintained. Cindy the owner was great. She responded rapidly to my questions and was very nice. She sincerely wants you to enjoy your stay and we did. We enjoyed the area trails and waterfalls. Really enjoyed the fireplace on the deck while watching college football thru the window back in the house. Go Bucks! SunDog management promised wood for the fire place but really only supplied enough for 2 of our 7 days. We were able to purchase some from a guy in the next town. The staff at the Club House was very friendly and nice. My husband enjoyed a round of golf. Very scenic. Enjoyed a day trip to Highlands. Thanks for sharing your property with us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The Bruschi home was absolutely perfect! We spent the weekend there for a wedding near by, the home was exactly as described and more. I spent most of the weekend at the cabin babysitting my 9 week old grandbaby and the house was perfect. Very clean and well maintained and the owners have everything there you could need from a wine opener to free WI-FI. I was very impressed and have stayed in many homes over the years, like I said it was perfect for us. Cindy, the owner was so helpful and stayed in constant contact and was so helpful. I would recommend this to best friends and will!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

what a great time. every year a few buddies get together someplace to catch up. this year we found the Bruschi cabin in Bear Lake, what a find. with these trips we do not have a concrete agenda and that worked perfectly; the area begs that you get outside and "do". mornings spent hanging out on the porch with a nice fire eating a great breakfast; you will need the energy. by mid morning the gang (4 of us) was ready to roll, we'd head to the tennis courts on the top of the mountain; we had a nice "friendly" tournament over our 3 days. back to the cabin for lunch then take to exploring the area hikes, drives, etc. late afternoon was reserved for the golf course, what a great track - short, but a good challenge and not too much for late in the day. after golf back to the great porch, cold beverages, catching up and on more than one occasion off to the Lake House to hang out by the lake, awesome scenery with a made to relax atmosphere. top that off with a great dinner, more catching up, and a healthy fire on the porch. add some college football and baseball playoffs and you got yourself a GREAT time. Cindy, thanks for staying in touch leading up to our arrival. Thanks for making the place so comfortable. I suppose the best compliment I/we can give (having been to many places over the years) is we walked in and one of the first comments was "this place just feels good". thanks again,Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

Our family just spent a quiet and relaxing weekend at the cottage. Everything was perfect! The owners have thought ahead about what they would want on vacation and made sure it is available to rental guests. I could not believe there were golf clubs for us to use! The cottage was decorated nicely and the furniture was very comfortable. We hope to visit again soon.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We are staying in this cabin this week (June 2010) and it's just perfect. The cabin has everything you could possibly need - it's clean, it's beautifully decorated, full cable TV and the Wi-fi is great because we don't have at&t service up here but can still get e-mail. Although the owners allow dogs, you would never know that a dog has stayed here - it's immaculate. We have very high expectations on vacation accommodations and this cabin has met every single one. Staying inside the Bear Lake community is awesome because even though we are "away in the woods" - there is a huge lake with pontoon boats and free kayaks and canoes, a beautiful lake clubhouse with a pool, kids play room, movie theater, restaurant. Everything you could need. The hiking trails here are beautiful and as easy or strenuous as you might want. We love that the community is so far from "civilization" - we truly feel like we have gotten away from our hectic lives for a week. The only advice I have is to stop for groceries on your drive in - either in Cashiers (best grocery stores) or Sylva (you can find the basics). The restaurants in the community are only open Wed - Sun for lunch and Fri-Sun for dinner. There is river rafting in nearby Sylva and Asheville is only an hour away. Amazing cottage, amazing community. Amazing week.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Years ago my husband and I fell in love with the mountains of North Carolina. Every year we vacationed here and dreamed of owning our own place. We looked for years to find the perfect location and we found it here at Bear Lake Reserve. We are an active couple who enjoy playing golf, hiking, kayaking, biking, boating and other sports. We live in South Florida and love escaping the heat. Our time right now is limited, with both of us having demanding professional jobs. We can usually only get up to our home 2-3 times a year, for long weeks. We consider our time in NC a real treat and spend our time enjoying our home and the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Bear Lake Reserve is unique in that you have both the mountains and the lake. We chose this particular development to buy our home, after doing over 10 years of research. Our home is located near so much. From fine dining, galleries, supermarkets, rafting and tubing, casinos, tourist attractions, golf, boating, kayaking and yes, even skiing. I plan a long girls weekend right in the middle of Winter, to go snow skiing at Maggie Valley and hiking in the brisk cold air. Having put our love and appreciation into our home, we want all our guests to feel invited and welcome. On our particular street, Whispering Falls Court, we have wonderful neighbors, who we get together with and entertain while we're staying there. It's a friendly, active and vibrant community.
