Situated on Lake Dunlap on the Guadalupe River in a quiet neighborhood, the LAKE HAUS is a great place for family reunions, vacations or a quick weekend getaway.
Bring your boat, jet ski & fishing pole & enjoy all that Lake Dunlap has to offer. A covered boat lift & jet ski ramp allows you to be in the water quickly & conveniently. A public boat ramp is located under the I-35 river bridge. The 80 foot of bulk headed & decked waterfront is a great place to swim, fish, Bar-B-Q or just enjoy the spacious yard & deck.
And talk about location!!!! The LAKE HAUS is just 10 to 15 minutes from all that New Braunfels has to offer. From the #1 water park in the country at the Schlitterbahn, to dining, dancing, & shopping in Gruene, to floating the Comal & Guadalupe Rivers. It is all just a stones throw away. The San Marcos Outlet Mall is approximately 20 minutes up I-35 while all that San Antonio has to offer from the Riverwalk, Sea World, Fiesta Texas-Six Flags, & the Alamo are all only 45 minutes away.
The LAKE HAUS is a privately gated, fully furnished 4 bedroom 2 bath home that comes with a fully equipped kitchen. A separate bunkhouse is also available for an additional charge & sleeps 6 (Unfortunately, the bunkhouse cannot be rented by itself). All you need are groceries & clothes & you are ready to go. Free U.S long distance & Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
RESERVATIONS: Reservations are guaranteed upon receipt of a $400 security/damage deposit. Add $200 for a pet deposit. Deposit must be received within 1 week of the reservation.
CANCELLATIONS: Full refund of deposit if cancellation is made greater than 30 days prior to arrival date. If cancellation is made less than 2 weeks prior to arrival leasee is responsible for the entire amount due on the reservation.
CHECK-IN: Check-in is 3:00 pm on the day of arrival & check-out is 11:00 am. An additional charge is due for late check outs.
POLICIES: Only registered guest are allowed on the property. Pets are allowed with an additional $200 deposit. Smoking is only allowed outside. A fire ring is located in the front but please check for any local burn bans as this is strictly enforced by local authorities. As we have no control over river conditions and the weather there are no guarantees & no refunds are given for such conditions. Obscene language, lewd behavior & excessive noise will not be tolerated. If we are notified of such acts or if the police are called you will be asked to leave with no refund. Maid service is provided only upon departure for a charge.

The lake house is easily accessible from either I-10 or I-35. Approximately 3 hours from Houston & just 35 minutes from the San Antonio airport. New Braunfels is home to the #1 rated water park in the U.S. and the best river for floating, tubing, or canoeing is just 15 minutes away. The lake house is located on a small lake (but big enough for your ski boat) just minutes from New Braunfels & Gruene where you can enjoy shopping, dining & dancing. Of course downtown San Antonio & its Riverwalk, Alamo, & theme parks are under 1 hour away.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Having access to the available boat house/lift & makes getting on the water convenient & easy. You can also enjoy catching the sunset out on the water side deck or take in the morning on the closed in back porch.
Great place for fried catfish or anything else fried for that matter. They do have some blackened entrees as well. The onion rings are a must. Very close to the LAKE HAUS.

Being native Texans we have always had a special place in our heart for the Texas Hill country. So when the opportunity came up to purchase a weekend lake property here in New Braunfels we jumped on it. We loved it so much that we eventually moved here from Houston & have not regretted it one bit. For us, this is located in the middle of so many things we enjoy doing. Most of it having to do with the outdoors. We enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, cycling as well as hanging out with family & friends right here on the lake. We out grew the house so now live on the other side of town but still enjoy our lake place as often as we can. We would also like to share the experience with you & your family.

We had seven adults stay at the Lake Haus and had an amazing time (and plenty of room). The house is very charming, but the view is what really made our trip. Lake Dunlap is so beautiful and peaceful. We had a great time swimming in the lake, drinking coffee on the deck, and enjoyed being on the water. We would definitely stay again!
Recommended for:Pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

Great for kids and dogs. Nice fenced in yard with river water pump, so kids could play in sprinkler. House wasn't as clean as I would have expected but overall it was a great family vacation. Agree with prior review, AC doesn't quite keep up, but we were not really uncomfortable and we were in the middle of a Texas heat wave!! Swimming off the dock was great. VERY close to Schlitterbahn and all things in New Braunfels!!! We had 9 adults and 3 small children... Would have been tight for 14-16 adults.

Although in a great location right off 35 and close to many restaurants and stores, this house is in need of some serious upgrades if the owner expects to keep renting it out. The mattresses were bouncy and terrible, the pull-out couch was twisted and mangled, the bunkbeds were creaky and shaky, and the bunkhouse reeked of mildew. The worst part of all was the squeaky MICE under the sink. We first noticed the MICE when they got into some of the food on the counter. Our second encounter with the MICE was when they were squeaking so loudly in the kitchen that we had to move our conversation outside to the porch, which was infested with wasps. It was bad. No one slept well, and no one relaxed the whole weekend. I would not rent this house again.
Owner response:Thanks for the input as I have been unaware of most of these issues. The mattresses have been updated and the sleeper sofa has been repaired. I had an exterminator out regarding the mice issue & have received no complaints since. The bunkhouse was checked for mildew with none found or even the smell of it. I have had 18 different parties stay at the Lake Haus this year & many more over the previous 4 years & this was the first time many of these items were brought to my attention. It is my intention & number 1 priority to make everyones stay as enjoyable as possible.

Had a blast. The a/c couldnt stay up with the hot weather. Took longer to get our deposite back then we were told.
Owner response:The a/c unit was checked & found to be working properly. It has been extremely hot this summer with temps consistently reaching 100+ degrees. There is also an additional portable a/c unit in the main living area that helps. Large groups that are in & out of the house as well as cooking in the kitchen place a strain the a/c units.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children.
