Having lived in the Caribbean for 10 years, this home reflects our love of all things tropical --furnishings, fabrics, paintings and more. Nestled on the water in a quiet cul-de-sac in Punta Gorda Isles, you are surrounded by water. Bring your boat or charter one during your stay for a trip to Cayo Costa State Park for shelling. Visit the surrounding islands of Sanibel, Captiva and Boca Grande -- all less than an hour's drive from "Solitude House." Enjoy sunsets & cocktails from our westerly facing pool deck & dock, fish from the pier, take a swim in the pool, or enjoy one of the many wonderful restaurants Punta Gorda has to offer.
Professionally decorated, luxurious designer fabrics compliment all furnishings and down pillows, 600 thread count sheets cover all deluxe Simmons mattresses for the ultimate in comfort, and the pool deck, with WESTERN EXPOSURE for maximum hours of sun, has a complete compliment of outdoor furniture for you to capture the rays of the sun. The living room and master bedroom features new Key West tropical design furniture with the other bedrooms complimented by wicker & rattan. A 42" flat screen TV in a tropical inspired armoire is located in the living room with TVs also in the master and guest bedroom. Additional amenities include: High Speed WIFi Internet, DVR, DVD, CD, VCR, Video and game library, fishing gear and bicycles for exploring the community.
Punta Gorda was voted one of the "Best Healthy Places to Retire" by U.S. News and World Report. With the style of the Caribbean and the convenience of Florida, we are confident you will be captivated by your Punta Gorda experience and hope you will be drawn to spend your well deserved vacation at "Solitude House." OUR NAME SAYS IT ALL.

We stayed at Solitude house All of March and Part of April 2011. We had a truly delightful experience. Our family joined us at various times and we found the house beautifully laid out for guests. The house is so comfortable and very well appointed. We lacked for nothing. The owners gave us restaurant tips and information on the area. They were a joy to work with. We loved the area, finding it less congested and easier to get around in than some of the larger cities. We did everything: beaches, museums, many area attractions, shopping, etc. I have stayed in several rental homes over the years, and consider this one of the best.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed here for 5 weeks and enjoyed the clean, beautifully decorated home. The fishing on the saltwater canal was enjoyable. We loved the area -great restaurants ( Lulu at the Wyvern hotel, Laishley Crab House, Riveria Oyster , Table 209, Joe Crackers in the immediate area and Turtles in Siesta Key and Campiello in Naples) bike and walking routes, Gallery Walk, and shopping ( Estero outlets, Naples 5th and 3rd avenues, Port Charlotte Mall) Bob and Deb were most helpful in answering our questions. There are lots of activities to do - air show, Third Thursday events, Charlotte Stone Crabs/Tampa Bay Rays baseball, Lemon Bay Playhouse (Englewood), Boca Grande beaches, art gallery events/classes, boating (from their backyard) and just relaxing by the pool. We would consider visiting this home again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: After sailing the waters between Ft Lauderdale, Florida and Venezuela for 10 years and owning a home and home interior business in St. Croix, U S Virgin Islands, we decided it was time to relocate back to the “states.” Upon the advice of a fellow boating enthusiast, we traveled to Punta Gorda, Florida and fell in love with the small town charm, close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, and the fact that we could still “live on the water.” Solitude House was purchased in 2003 as our permanent residence, only to have life events intervene and take us to South Carolina for the time being. So, with our usual enthusiasm to make “lemonade out of lemons,” we made Solitude House not only our vacation home away from home, but also for our guests. We have furnished our home in the traditional West Indian/Key West laid back motif, featuring tropical inspired paintings, furniture and fabrics that reflect our comfortable but casual lifestyle. We hope you enjoy Solitude House as much as we do!
