The many lakes that make up this region offer all the seasonal activities you could ask for. The most notorious lake is Squam Lake featured in the film On Golden Pond. The area is sprinkled with special attractions for the whole family. To name just a few; Canterbury Shaker-Village, Castle in the Clouds, Clark's Trading Post with trained bears, Hampshire Pewter Company, Hobo Hills Mini-Golf, Loon Center & Markus Wildlife Sanctuary, Lost River, Mt. Washington Cog Railroad, Owl's Nest Golf Course, Polar Caves, Ruggles Mine and Santa's Village. Weirs Beach on Lake Winnepesauke is close by with go cart racing, miniature golf and a huge video arcade for rainy days. The cottage sits behind the main house. Walk alongside main house approx. 30 yards to the beautiful sandy walk out beach which is shared with owner and occasional friends and family.
The Mount Washington Cruise line departs from Weirs Beach and has a full schedule of various theme and sightseeing cruises which include lobster feasts and dancing!
Nature lovers will find a haven in the White Mountains with hiking, canoeing, bird watching and just exploring nature. Winter activities are downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. Summer activities on Newfound Lake itself can be enjoyed with boating, swimming, water skiing, jet-skiing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Plenty of shopping for the ladies at North Conway and Lakes Region factory stores. The Atlantic Ocean is just 1.5 hours away for honky-tonk Hampton Beach! Historic Boston and its airport are two hours away. Manchester Airport is the closest airport, which is 1.25 hours away.
Enjoy year-round family vacation fun by the day, week, month, or season! Our immaculate, newly renovated cottage is situated on pristine Newfound Lake in a private woodsy setting away from all the hustle and bustle with no traffic or noise. We have furnished the cottage with all conveniences to give you more time for fun. Enjoy your own private sandy beach for water activities and relaxing. There is great fishing right off the dock for kids and adults alike! Breezy mountain views and beautiful sunsets end the perfect day.
Newfound Lake is a quiet little lake, considered one of the cleanest in the world. It's 'tucked away', yet is close to busy Lake Winnepesauke. Newfound lake is 2.5 miles wide, seven miles long, and 180 feet deep. The lake water quality is closely monitored by the NLRA Association. And judging from the number of fishermen on the lake, it offers 'pretty good fishin'.
The master bedroom a king sized bed. All other beds are singles (two in each bedroom).
The master bedroom and bath are on the ground level. The kitchen and living area are on the second level. Two additional bedrooms, a bath, and a laundry are on third level.

Friendly, controlled pets are allowed with an additional security deposit.
Guests will have use of a boat mooring, canoe, kayaks, a rowing shell, and a sailboat.
Grocery stores, movie theatres and a nice variety of restaurants are all close by.
The cottage sits behind our main house. Walk alongside house 30 yards to beautiful sandy beach which is shared with owner, family and friends occasionally.

We were very familiar with Newfound Lake, having owned a home in Bristol for many years. We were not, however, familiar with Whittemore Point and it was absolutely wonderful. Our family, including our young grandson, and our daughter's 2 Yorkies, had a fantastic time. It was easily assessable to Storyland and Clark's Trading Post, which our grandson loved. There is a great beach to loll away the afternoon, reading or swimming. The owners and their family are lovely, lovely people - we've already booked it for next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: How nice to get a "first" official website review from a satisfied vacationer. This family was so enjoyable and respected our property as their own. We will welcome them back!

My wife, 13 yr old son and in-laws stayed here for the Mooseman 70.3 half ironman weekend, June 3-6, 2011. Everything about the location and cottage was perfect. Even though the water was cold, my son and I swam off the private beach, played with the kayaks and canoes made available by our gracious hosts. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need. The 5 of us had plenty of room with the 3 floors of living space. Thank you very much Bob and Marsha for the fantastic weekend.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you for the great review! We enjoyed having you and hope you will return for your next marathon in this area.

This cottage is very clean and well maintained. I recommend it for weekend getaways. The sleeping arrangements accomodate six people but the kitchen/living room area is small and it was a tight fit for the six of us. The owner allowed liberal use of the beachfront, kayaks, and other water toys. The biggest drawback is the lack of view of the lake and beach. The cottage is located directly behind the owners house and the view of the lake and beach is blocked. This is a great cottage to rent if the lake and beach are not your primary reason to visit Newfound Lake.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners.
Owner response: The review is right on target. We advertise very clearly that the cottage is behind our house. However, you would be hard pressed to find a similiar large private beach with a rental unit on the whole lake. The living area is small but most guests renting this unit are on the beach 80% of the time.

Our family of 4 plus our 6-month old puppy had quite the active, fun, and relaxing vacation week at this wonderful place. There was plenty of room (1 bedroom we hardly touched). The owners were extremely helpful with advice regarding local attractions without being overly intrusive and even let one of our boys borrow some food coloring so he could complete a 'science experiment' on one of the rainy days. We enjoyed many of our meals right at the cottage and that worked out well. The online description of the place was right-on. We did a little biking and hiking, but enjoyed much of our time swimming and boating in the lake. In water over my head, I clearly could see the bottom of the lake-- so clean! Our 2 boys (7 and 9) were captains of their kayaks while my wife, pup, and I stuck close by in our canoe while exploring the lake. Smores on the sandy beach really made one night special. Our trips to Clark's Trading Post and the Lost River Gorge were great for the kids and us! We all got to ride segways at Clark’s- pretty cool. Awesome caves at Lost River. During the Clark’s and Lost River trip, we did board our puppy with a local dog sitter/kennel because our dog did not do well when left alone in a crate in our cottage. The local boarding worked out fine. Everyone, including the pup, sure did sleep well in the evenings. The owner's friendly dog, Kaiser, helped introduce our pup to the water and beach and was a great role model. The dogs played so well together! It was clear that our dog truly loved the 'off leash' experience and I got more relaxed with it as the week went on. It's been almost a week since we were there and I still feel that relaxed healthy feeling. We are grateful that we were able to enjoy this wonderful place together. I'm hoping that we may be able to return to this 'piece of paradise' again some time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.

This cottage was perfect! My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary. There was more than enough space to accomadate the two of us. The owners' dog, Kaiser was so sweet! Next time, we'll be bringing our own dog so the two of them can play. The private beach was amazing. We used the beach chairs that were provided for us and watched the sunset while we sipped on some cold beers. During the day, we went fishing on the lake as well as kayaking. For lunch during the day, we used the grill and made some tasty burgers and hot dogs. And for dinner, we went to a nearby restaurant that was right on the lake and had the best fish and chips we've ever tasted! The owners were great... they were there if we needed some help yet still allowed us to have our own privacy. Having access to beach chairs, a row boat, two kayaks, and some fishing poles was wonderful. We'll definitely be going back soon-- most likely for our 2 year anniversary!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a great time over Labor Day weekend, just a little get away, but they were so welcoming and accomadating. Our dog played with their dogs until she was exhausted. It's on a cul-de-sac, so she could be off leash, and they all got along famously. The wind was cool on the lake so we didn't get to go out for a boat ride, but it was great "read a book on the beach weather. My husband and Cleo went in swimming and had fun. I think we should sign her up for life-saving class, because every time she reached my husband, she wanted to pull him back to shore! A wonderful, pet loving family, and grat accomodations, beautiful gardens, wooded roads to walk. We saw hummingbirds in the wild flowers!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Very nice review and this really describes our very remote property. No one else around except us, the owners and family. Surprising how all the dogs seem to get along.

"I must admit I was a bit nervous about renting a house "sight unseen" off the internet. But I shouldn't have worried - this place was everything we had hoped for. Your thoughtfullness and hospitality made us feel right at home with all the provisions. Everything was here right down to the last detail. We also enjoyed meeting your family (and dogs!). Your grandchildren were very kind and helpful and nice friends to our children. Ellie and Morgan just loved frolicking with Kaiser, Sky and Zoe.Thank you for sharing your wonderful place on the lake. our only regret is that the week went to fast."Did you find this review helpful? "Thank you for sharing one of the most beautiful pieces of property we've ever seen. We've thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay and your hospitality. You and the dogs made us feel welcome at all times. The boat "taxi" ride was spectacular. If the winters get too cold, come visit us in texas!"Did you find this review helpful?
