This 1919 stone house named "SEEK NO FURTHER" (one of the last original Tahoe stone homes) was purchased in 2004 because of its incredible lake frontage and beautiful true south facing views... being transformed through a two year remodeling process into a gorgeous Lake Tahoe treasure. The large deck right on the water is a wonderful place for families to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe. It is large with several chaise lounges, umbrella, a seating area with rocker lounge chairs and coffee table and is beautifully accented with many flowering potted plantings. The views from this deck have captured the beauty and essence of Lake Tahoe and have been the focus of a number of weddings that it has attracted...and provided many years of wonderful memories as a result. (Weddings are welcome... but must be approved and additional fees apply). The entire property has been beautifully landscaped including a gorgeous middle courtyard water feature and flower beds throughout the property producing blooms spring, summer and fall... resulting in this property being invited to the 2008 "Lake of the Sky" Garden Tour.
The Main house has three bedrooms, two baths, gorgeous full kitchen, great room with very large original fireplace, dining room with separate wood burning stove, stone patio which opens off the dining room, great room and master with double wide patio doors. The furnishings are comfy and elegant.. and there are also a number of family antiques that add to the elegance of this property. The apartment over the garage (25 steps from the main house) has an additional two bedrooms, one bath and another kitchen with very cozy living room and another wood burning stove. The apartment also has a lovely deck off the living room which does have a lake view and in the spring, summer and fall, deck furniture is there to enjoy. The lake can be viewed from the kitchen, dining room, living room, the master bedroom and most of the apartment as well.
Having two separate residences has proved to be an asset since many guests usually include multi-generational families or several friends and families getting together for the holidays or vacations. Having some of the property separated in different homes has allowed families to "have discretionary time away for privacy... or allow down-time". A number of prior guests have commented that this really enchanced the opportunity to truly enjoy a vacation.. without being on top of one-another.
The main house has a gorgeous gourmet kitchen with the highest of quality appliances (Subzero refrigerator, Viking gas stove, Wolf double ovens, Miele espresso coffee maker, microwave, Miele dishwasher, 30 bottle wine cooler and beautiful knotty maple cabinetry). Every appliance a gourmet cook would need is provided and the kitchen is stocked with spices and condiments, several services of glassware and ... heated floors to boot!! The dining room table (with a lake view) will seat eight but there is another drop leaf table close by and the patio table (seating eight) available spring, summer and fall. The built in stainless barbeque just below the stone patio provides additional convenience for food prep separate from the gourmet kitchen. The bathrooms have beautiful granite and tile, frameless glass enclosures, excellent quality bath appliances, heated floors and heated toilet seats (trust me this is a plus in winter!!). There are 21 skylights providing additional ambient light. Very high quality light fixtures are provided throughout. There are flat screen TV's and DVD's in the living rooms, dining room, and all bedrooms of both houses (with extended cable). A Bose Music system is also provided with large additional stock of PG movies for family viewing.
The master bedroom has a queen captain's bed (with baskets below for storage) and a gorgeous lake frontage view. It is an en suite... with its own bathroom. The second bedroom has a trundle bed with two twins... and shares the second bathroom. The third bedroom has a king captain's bed also with under bed basket stowage but also has a view of the gorgeous courtyard garden. The two bedrooms in the apartment have two king beds and share a tub/shower bath. All bedrooms have beautiful very high quality bedding from Hemmings and Jarret and also have closet organizers to maximize storage. Both houses are beautifully furnished with very nice quality furnishings also from Hemmings and Jarret (a high end furnishing supplier in Tahoe City dealing primarily with decorators). The apartment has an additional kitchen which does allow family autonomy...or can augment family celebrations with additional kitchen space for food prep. There is professional landscape lighting that is installed throughout the property.. and there is lighting down the driveway, under the garage bay overhang, by the front door(s) and up the stairs to the upper apartment. The deck on the water also has downcast lighting... which is maintained in the spring, summer and fall. The 7 person hot tub is a wonderful place to enjoy gorgeous sunsets year round... or relax after a long day on the close by hiking, biking trails or skiing like an Olympic champ!.
There are two buoys close to the shoreline for boats... the further of the bouys suitable for very large boats... up to 13,000 lbs... the closer buoy can handle smaller boats or water trampolines, skidoos or whatever floatable device you choose to bring. The homeowner can not provide any kind of floatable device due to insurance limitations but remember Sierra Boat Marina is just 1/8 of a mile away. This property also has garage access for one medium sized car and parking for up to eight vehicles is available in front of the three car garage and down the driveway. This is a gated property which adds to guest privacy and pet and child security.

Five of my friends and I had the pleasure of spending time in this beautifully lanscaped and spacous home. The amenities were above that of a five star hotel. Everything is top of the line, extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable (first time in months I woke without a backache). We enjoyed every moment in this relaxing environment and wished we could have stayed longer. We all selfishly wanted to keep this place our little secret, but decided it wouldn't be fair to everyone else. Now the secret is out and we can only hope it won't be booked the next time we want to vacation there!

Our family reunion was spent at this lovely property in August of 2009. The owner was very responsive to every request or question we had. The home itself was lovely and warm and inviting. We enjoyed family dinners every evening in the dining room overlooking the lake and gorgeous sunsets, cooking a pleasure in a well appointed kitchen. We never went to the beach, chosing instead to relax lakeside on the deck ... the jetskiers and kayakers in the group able to come in close to visit and change riders. Hot tub enjoyed multiple times, master suite with romantic view of the lake also a plus. Loved having the cottage above the garage for family members who wanted time away from main house activity. Perfect in every way. Our dog gave a BIG PAW UP on approval as well.

I arranged a special birthday celebration at this property for the weekend, and it was mightily enjoyed by all. The place was not only well-stocked with basics, but also equipped with thoughtful details (heated floors, lots of extra beach towels, full spice rack, great family friendly DVD collection) that were like a fantastic icing on the cake. This place is obviously well-loved and -cared for and it showed! This on top of the owner's responsiveness helped create an atmosphere conducive to the creation of some fantastic memories. I highly recommend it.

My family booked ‘Seek No Further’ last summer, and the stay was absolutely wonderful. First off, let me say that ‘Seek No Further’ does not look or feel like a rental. The entire property is stunningly beautiful and has a warmth that instantly surrounds you. The home and landscaping are immaculately cared for. Everyone was impressed by how much love, care and attention to detail obviously goes into the place. My parents and I would always spend part of the day pointing out little décor touches we discovered throughout each room. The home sits prettily lakeside, which not only gave us the most breathtaking view, but it also gave us no reason or desire to leave the property. Our two teenage boys and one pre-teen girl were perfectly content canoeing, lounging and napping throughout our stay. I never once heard ‘I’m bored’ – which is a miracle in itself. Cooking is one of my passions, so I took full advantage of the high-end kitchen appliances. My mom and I both love gardening, so when we weren’t gushing over how amazing the home was, we were fawning over the landscaping. The gardens surrounding the house are truly inspiring. It’s important to note that our group of seven never felt cramped. One of the things that always seem to punctuate a vacation nearing its end is that feeling of burn-out and needing some personal space. For my husband, this usually happens at around the end of day *1*. I was very surprised (and pleased) to find that no one was ready to leave at the end of our visit! ‘Seek No Further’ is spacious and has great flow. Additionally, there are a number of comfortable ‘conversation areas’ to retreat to – all against the backdrop of gorgeous Lake Tahoe. Finally, you will not find a more relaxing and peaceful place to vacation. The irony of vacations is that they are usually so chaotic - with the stifling crowds and shuffling from place to place - that you often find yourself longing to get back home to recover. You will not find that to be the case here. ‘Seek No Further’ provides comfort, beauty and tranquility. You will enjoy quality time with your family here. You will feel rested and rejuvenated when you leave. We were truly sad to go – and we look forward to (hopefully) visiting again this year.Thank you so much for making our stay go above and beyond all expectations. ‘Seek No Further’ gave us a beautiful setting for creating and experiencing some of our most cherished family memories for us.

Our extended family of 11, 7 adults and 4 kids, plus our dog, enjoyed a wonderful stay at this elegant, lakefront retreat for the week after Christmas. It was everything we hoped for--a beautiful home with elegant furnishings, all upscale appliances and hardware, and all the extras you would want in your own home. The living room, with fabulous views of the lake, a massive fireplace (with a large supply of firewood), very large and comfortable couch, and giant flat screen TV (as well as several other smaller TVs in other rooms) for the football games and Rose Parade, accomodated all of us. The dining room did the same. The views of the lake, night and day, whether clear or with snow falling, were spectacular. The apartment worked out well for one couple and their kids--close enough to be part of the action, but also far enough away to allow them a respite when they needed it. For dog lovers, the lakeside rear yard was safe and convenient for our dog when he had to go outside. The owner was very helpful and very attentive, including replacing the giant TV in a matter of a couple of hours when it developed a glitch and removing snow and salting ice as needed. We highly recommend this wonderful luxury vacation rental home.
