Arcata is located just 7 miles north of Eureka and less than an hour's drive to State and National Redwood Parks, home to the tallest trees in the world. Enjoy majestic redwood groves, miles of pristine coastline, Humboldt Bay, a famous wildlife refuge, and a lively town square in arty, progressive Arcata, which is also home to Humboldt State University.
Between scenic Humboldt Bay and forested hills, our town is a popular destination for visitors to the redwoods and is the ideal "home base" from which to take recreational day trips or attend events on the Arcata Plaza, including the Kinetic Sculpture Race, Oyster Festival, Pastels On The Plaza, North Country Fair, Arts Alive, and Saturday Farmers Market.
Within a 15-30 minute drive from Arcata, visit Old Town Eureka's Victorian Waterfront Heritage District, the Victorian Village of Ferndale, or the quaint fishing village of Trinidad, Trinidad Head and beaches, and Patrick's Point State Park.
Bay Light Stay is the newest addition to the Arcata Stay Lodging Network and has been added to accommodate guests who may have difficulty climbing stairs or who use a wheel chair. It is a 2 bedroom/1.5 bath free standing bungalow which can be rented as a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom unit. It is situated at an elevation which affords expansive views of Humboldt Bay's play of light on the water, lagoons of the Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, lush green bottom lands, and Lamphere sand dunes. Walking distance to Humboldt State University and the downtown Plaza, it is located in a quiet setting bordering Arcata's Community Park with 620 acres of forest, hiking and biking trails, and has a northern view of a beautiful towering redwood grove.
The main room, furnished in an understated country French style, has a vaulted ceiling, open floor plan, and large windows which allow abundant light and enjoyment of the view. The kitchen is separated from the living room by a breakfast bar which is an ideal place for gathering and socializing while meals are being prepared.
A sliding glass door in the dining area opens onto a deck with a screened private sitting nook as well as patio seating. Off of the master bedroom, is another private space with a sitting bench where guests can rest and take in the serenity of the redwoods.
The master bedroom has a sumptuous queen bed, nightstands with reading lamps and a reading corner with a wicker settee. The attractive textural furnishings, lighting, artwork, and lovely bedding create a soothing ambiance in this room. The master also has a large dressing room that leads into the full bath which has vanity and stool seating and a walk-in shower with safety bars and a built-in seat which is easily handicapped accessible. The second bedroom lends the feeling of being in a tree house, as its main window views onto the redwood forest. It has a wrought iron queen bedstead, side tables and reading lamps, a large closet, and a glass brick side window which ensures privacy while providing additional light.

Thanks for the beautiful place to "stay." We had a great time even if the weather was challenging. The house was a perfect setting for us to have a quiet dinner with my daughter and two of her colege friends. So much nicer and cozier than a hotel room! I wish we could stay here every time we come for a visit. But glad we got to stay at all.

We very much enjoyed our stay in your beautiful and well equipped guest house. It was special to have a "home" for our first grandchild to visit while we were in Arcata. We hope to come back again as often as we can afford to do so. Babies grow up very fast and we want to see little Caston grow up. All best wishes for a good year ahead for you and your family.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place. I will return time and time again. Though you are just getting started in the "hospitality" business, I am certain that once word gets out, you will be stacked up with people wanting to enjoy this marvelous place and your hospitality. My best to yu and to Elvis (kitty). See you next time.

We are so honoured to be your first guests. What a delightful house with fabulous views. The English tea for my English parents was a very thoughtful touch. Thank you. The morning visits from the deer were great to see. A wonderful base to explore Humboldt County. Thank you for having it ready for our visit.
