Because of the low rental rate we kept thinking that this rental can't be as good as it sounded - we were wrong! We were very impressed with the view of the ocean that this home offers as well as the close proximty to beach access. The home was very clean and very well stocked with spices and other non-perishable items. My husband & I appreciated the comfort of the mattress in the master bedroom. We've stayed at many homes where we've suffered from lack of sleep and aching backs due to old mattresses that need to be replaced! I've even opted to sleep on the couch at a few rentals but that was not the case here. Although the owners have no control over the weather we sure loved the sunshine, we've had such a wet time of it so far this spring! The location was great - plenty of grocery stores and restaurants within minutes and a very short drive to Newport. We especially enjoyed Seal Rock State Park when the tide was out. We would definatley reccommend this home. Pat & Jeri Gaylor
Owner response:Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We too feel that comfort and location are important factors when getting away and we are glad you had such spectacular weather! It sounds as though you took advantage of the convenience of the friendly Waldport businesses in addition to the short drive to Newport. We love the clean, quiet beach there with the option of venturing out to the sight seeing available in either direction. We hope you come back soon!

We had a fairly restful stay. It was stormy and was fun to see the turbulent ocean and gales. We went into Waldport and enjoyed a delicious fish, chips and chowder dinner. We will recommend this place to friends and family. Thank you.
Owner response:It's true...the ocean is amazing to watch during the storms. Fortunately, the large windows and proximity to the ocean makes for some great views. Because of migration, it is prime whale watching time right now. A hot bowl of chowder is the way to go during stormy weather!

This was our first time using HomeAway and first time using the house. Linda was wonderful to work with, paying online was convenient. The house was a great distance from the beach. We had crazy rain, sunshine AND snow. House had everything you really could need. We even used the crockpot. Remember to bring firewood if you want to have a fire. For my Dad’s 50th birthday we baked him a full cake with fondant decorations we made earlier. Drove down to the Devil's Punchbowl and drove up to Newport for salt water taffy and the Aquarium. Never made it out crabbing but had a really great trip. Thank you!
Owner response:Renters love being able to step out of the house & be on the beach within three to five minutes with such easy access. It is wonderful year round even during stormy weather. It is rare that we don't have firewood. The unusual spring storm slowed the wood delivery this month. The central location of the house leaves many opportunities to explore the fabulous Oregon Coast and its many attractions.

Great place to stay. Its like home away form home. Its so nice to stay at a place that has all the amenities of home. Fully stocked kitchen, some board games, and Direct TV / with Internet. Nice location just outside of Waldport and about 15min to Newport.
Owner response:Amenities we have! We just assume people don't want to run to the store for every little item they may need on their weekend away. We are happy you appreciated the internet which we just added to the house. It's so convenient to have WiFi at your disposal wherever you may be. The location is so central to checking out fun places north and south. Thanks for enjoying our home away from home!

I found this rental Friday morning and we were staying there Friday evening! Linda was amazing and made the process so fast and easy. We arrived in the evening but we could tell this house was really nice! We loved how you went in downstairs and could leave all your sandy clothes and shoes before heading upstairs. Were a family of 4 with 2 kids under the age of 5! This house and setup was perfect. The views amazing! We enjoyed the short walk to the beach several times! The beds were comfy and the kitchen was easy to navigate around for our home cooked meals! I would definitely stay here again!!
Owner response:It is the perfect house for a family of four to six. Many people love to do their own cooking for part of their stay. We have everything available to make the process easy and fun while enjoying the ocean scenery through the windows. I am always happy to accommodate people who have last minute plans. Hope to see you again soon!

This house is amazing. The entire front of the house has huge windows with sweeping, unobstructed views of the ocean. You can walk to a practically private beach in about 1 minute or less. The house has everything you would ever need for a comfortable stay. The neighborhood that this house is is is wonderful for strolling as well - beautiful houses, friendly people. Off the beaten path too - so private. I can see myself returning to this property year after year with my family. What a wonderful find!!! Thank you so much!!!
Owner response:We're so happy you like our house. It's a great place at any time of the year, especially with the cozy fireplace.

Our Family was searching for somewhere to stay close to Newport, without being in the middle of all the 'tourist attractions'. We prefer to be close to the action, without being surrounded by tons of people & noise. We looked for a Beach House with a great view, location & price & found it at the Sand Dollar! The house was easy to find, and our hosts made the registration process an absolute breeze! Our reservation was last minute to say the least, and was still managed with impeccable care! As described the house is FULLY stocked with just about everything you can think of needing! There are also tons of books, guides, and brochures available in the mini-library to help plan many fun adventures! The view from the deck is amazing, and I spent a lot of time just sitting there watching the waves roll in and out. The bed in the master bedroom was comfy, and my kids enjoyed having their own individual bunk beds, since there are 2 separate ones in the guest room. The house is in a very quiet beach front community, with many other well kept homes. The pathway to the ocean was very easy to find, and we had the beach practically to ourselves! We will definitely stay at the Sand Dollar again! I recommend it to families & couples for a reasonably priced, well appointed, relaxing stay on the Oregon Coast. My appreciation to our wonderful hosts, for a memorable weekend.
Owner response:We love sharing our beach house with its wonderful view and location with responsible renters. Our return renters become 'friends' even though we usually never meet them in person.

Four stars because I really didn't want to clean-up the place before we left BUT other than that, we will definitely return here and most likely bring sleeping bags and pillows for our kids! Spectacular view, great, quiet location, AND much sought after comfy recliner!! The house is very spacious and has everything that you would need for a get-away. We spent most of our time in Newport (20 min drive north)surfing and playing at the beach and it was nice to wind-down on the drive back to The Sand Dollar. There is a small flea market nearby where me and my kids spent lots of time looking at the "old stuff" (rotary phones, LP's, etc.). An affordable rental with lots to offer. We will return during the stormy months to watch from inside the power of nature!

This place was perfect for our 3 day adventure with our grand kids. There was even a kite hanging by the garage door, waiting for our grandchildrens sunset kite flying on the beach. Next day involved some serious sand castle building, and splashing in the waves. The home is so well equipped, there was even an ice cream scoop for making our Root Beer Floats. The description perfectly matches what we found on arriving. Great central location for all the areas sight seeing attractions. Aquarium, whale watching cruise, lighthouse climbing, we did it all! Newport Cafe---must go there for the Razor Clams!!!!

I do wish there had been more warning in regards to the flight of stairs. We had elderly parents with us and would have preferred ground level. If we were on our own we would stay again at this location. That said, what was provided was excellent. Everything from utensils to sheets and bedding; washer and dryer, and dishwaher. Basics of cooking ingredients were in the kitchen. We loved having such a well stocked kitchen. Went just the mile to Waldport to a very friendly grocery store and were able to save money by eating a couple meals in each day. Local beach was clean and fun for us that spend our year landlocked. Space was well thought out and we all enjoyed spending our evenings watching the ocean and the ships out on the horizon.

Stays at Sandollar have provided memories of a lifetime for our family. This year, driftwood gave way to agates on the beach where you can walk so far out at low tide. Crabbing in the bay, geocaching, the shops in Waldport, the waterfront in Newport. There is so much to do or you can just sit on the deck and enjoy the view and the sound of the ocean. Even though it is cool, you will want to leave the windows wide open at night so you can sleep to the soothing surf.

Kite flying fun...explored the beach...added some wonderful shells & rocks to our collection including one huge agate. Thanks for letting us make 'The Sanddollar' our 'homebase' this time.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and your Sanddollar beach house. It was such a nice break getting away from the heat and enjoying scenery. The house is situated in a nice little community with a perfect view. We hope to do this again in the near future.
