My wife and I and two teens stayed in Alex's beautiful Paris apartment for four nights in early April. This is an architects dream, and what a great location. We walked to many of the popular tourist signts and had great views of the Eiffel Tower from near the apartment. When we arrived Mona greeted us with fruit, bread and a nice bottle of French wine. Such a treat after our long flight from Boston. Alex pays great attention to detail and nothing is left to chance. Clean and impeccable. You can't beat this place. What a great stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I could not be happier with my choice to rent Alex's beautiful apartment in the 16th arrondissement. It is a lovely, immaculate, well-appointed "home away from home." I stayed for a week with my husband and two teenagers, and found the space and location exceeded our expectations. We lived like Parisians for a week in this fabulous, perfect apartment. Alex was a delight to deal with from start to finish; extremely helpful and thorough in providing information spanning from transportation and "site seeing" to shopping and restaurants. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we return to the city of lights. Thank you, Alex for an amazing stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This apartment in the 16th is exactly as described by the owner. It is very well appointed and equipped. A wonderful full bathroom with walk-in shower and over-sized tub. A full kitchen--cooktop, oven, and good size refrigerator with very adequate bottom freezer. The main floor is very comfortable with seating for several people and a pleasant dining area. The upstairs has a bedroom with a queen bed and extensive storage space, a study area with numerous books on Paris and environs and the bathroom. The neighborhood is a residential one, but has everything one might need. Two grocery stores are within a 2 minute walk, equally close are bakeries, vegetable and fruit shops and a butcher. Additionally, there are several restaurants within an easy walk--some are neighborhood bistros; others a bit more upscale. Within very easy walking distance are metro stops, 3 different bus lines and the RER. We hope this apartment will be available on our next trip to Paris and would certainly recommend it to friends---only if they didn't want it when we did!Did you find this review helpful? A stunning apartment in the chic 16th arrondissement. It is a clean, light filled and beautifully decorated art deco home. Customer service is excellent ; the greeter generously prepared the table with wine and cheeses and was always available if we had any questions. The kitchen was well equipped for gourmet cooking. The bookcases contained guidebooks, maps and the latest information pamphlets about Paris. The neighborhood has every type of shop you can imagine and the bus, metro and RER are practically at your doorstep. We will definitely rent this apartment again.Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I have rented apartments in Paris many times, but have never found a place so delightful as this. Everything is exactly as described, the place is immaculate, quiet, sophisticated, comfortable...I would recommend it without hesitation. The location is perfect...within easy reach of everything, yet out of the way of the tourist crowds. The owner provides extremely detailed information about the area, the appliances, an answer to any question one might have, plus, there is a lovely English-speaking house manager just around the corner and always available by phone. We were so impressed by the quality of the property, the furnishings, the artwork, the CDs...I could go on and on. This property is exactly as advertised: Stunning and Rare. We can't wait to return and be "pretend" Parisians for another few weeks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had an amazing vacation in Paris; and, our vacation rental played a major role in the success of our trip! Upon arrival, it was clear that this was the real deal. The rental looked exactly like the photos we had seen and the amenities were exactly as outlined. By Paris standards, the accommodations were spacious, and by any standards, the accommodations were beautiful. The place is tastefully decorated, very well-equipped and well laid-out. It was clean, well maintained and well stocked with everything one needs for a perfect vacation…nice bathroom with extra towels and fresh bars of soap, plenty of extra blankets, plenty of household items, tons of travel books and great tips and maps from the owner. The customer service was top-notch. Prior to our arrival, we received a packet of information in the mail that not only addressed the crucial information like where the apartment is located and how to get to there, but it also contained tips on sightseeing, transportation, maps and recommendations on the owner’s favorite walks in the city, tips on exchanging currency, warnings about pick-pockets, etc. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a bottle of wine, a fresh baguette, a bowl of fresh fruit and a tray containing several cheeses. There were fresh flowers on the kitchen table, in the bathroom and in the bedroom. The caretaker was waiting for us, ready to acquaint us with the property and answer any questions we had. She offered to make herself available for questions or help during our stay and even called us a few days into the trip to “check” on us! The location was wonderful. If you are looking to be in a real neighborhood, live like a local and soak up Paris, this is the place. While it is not in the heart of all of the action, or central to buzzing nightlife, it is located in a beautiful “sleepy” little neighborhood- quiet, upscale and far from tourists. We lived like locals for 1 week! We had 2 boulangeries within less than 100 yards of the apartment and each morning we picked up fresh pastries and a fresh baguette. The grocery store was even closer, just 2 doors down. Also within 100 yards was a wine shop, butcher, café and pharmacy. The metro was about 1 ½ blocks away and we traveled exclusively by metro (when we weren’t walking). The Eiffel Tower was about 10 minutes by foot. We would highly recommend this property and would absolutely love to come back again ourselves. We were sad to say goodbye to what we considered "our" apartment.Did you find this review helpful? After staying in a "4-star" hotel in Paris for all of my recent trips, I decided that I'd had enough with high rates, thin walls, and lack of luxury. Having used VRBO in the states before and having a good experience, I decided it was time to try the site in Paris. I must say, finding this AMAZING apartment was a little like winning the lottery. Not only is it as fantastic as the pictures show, it was in an adorable neighborhood, well priced, and gave me the genuine feeling of "living in Paris" ... something I would very much like to do! Spick and span is my middle name and it didn't disappoint, I was pleased with all of the amenities and was sad to leave so quickly. I have nothing but compliments to the owner and hope to return again soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The owner was extremely responsive to every correspondence, and provided an amazingly detailed welcome packet that directed us from the airport, to tours of the neighborhood, bus lines, as well as tips for using the apartment. We were greeted by the owner's English-speaking housekeeper who waited for our flight to arrive and presented us with a gorgeous tray of cheese (that we enjoyed all week) with a bottle of wine and a baguette. Fresh flowers adorned vases in every room. The conveniences of free local calls to Paris and the U.S., wi-fi, washing machine, toaster, refrigerator and room to spread out made this a choice better than any hotel. The property is beautifully appointed and laid out exactly as described. There are hundreds of books on the subject of Paris, not to mention reference and guide books to museums, restaurants and attractions, that we enjoyed reading. The neighborhood is charming, private, and perfectly situated to the Metro, bus lines, and RER. There is a butcher shop, cheese shop, several bakeries, grocery stores, bank, brasserie, cafe, post office and wine shop right around the corner. This apartment has air-conditioning which can be difficult to find in Paris, and even with the window open, there was not noise or air pollution. We were extremely comfortable and felt very safe. We would definitely rent this apartment in the future and would recommend this apartment to close friends and family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Oh my, where to begin?! Everything was perfect. Alex's detailed instructions, mailed to us a couple weeks before we arrived, on traveling to the apartment, how to use everything in the apartment, suggested areas to visit, and walks to take (we did all 3!), maps, were wonderful. Mona extremely helpful too! Called to check in on us. And the flowers, cheese, wine and bread left for our arrival were perfect after long day of travel. There were four of us and apartment was perfectly roomy, all beds comfortable, everything clean. Loved the selection of books on everything Paris! Location is wonderful, short walk to "Paul's," two grocery stores, fruit stands, dry cleaners, several restaurants, metro stops. Thank you so much Alex for a memorable first visit to Paris!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Since having a family, we always travel staying in rented condos or houses, not hotels. And this little slice of real Paris is going to be added to our list of places. It was very clean and comfortable. We had 5 in our traveling party (my husband and I were in the upstairs room and my 2 kids (11 and 7) and my mother were downstairs). Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed their stay. It was also close enough to all of the tourist sights but also just far enough away that we didn't bump into tourists all of the time. Mona, the housekeeper, was also very helpful and provided us with a nice welcome basket. The bedroom did face the street with some street noise but the window a/c unit drowned out anything that could have been disturbing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

This apartment met and exceeded our expectations for a wonderful 3 week stay in Paris. The owner not only was timely and respectful in his communications, he went above and beyond in providing us detailed information prior to arrival about the apartment, favorite walks, shopping, restaurants, transportation by bus and metro and even specific directions to the apartment for a taxi driver "in french"! The location is ideal. Our first time staying in the 16th arr., the apartment was within 10 minutes walking distance to the Trocadero, 20 the Arch de Triumph, 25 the Tour Eiffle, 30 Roland Garros. Oh la la! What fun we had! This was a beautiful unit, most spacious for 2 and even worked for 4 comfortably. The upstairs office landing, work area made for a perfect "family room" atmosphere. No need to bring reading material, the library collection had everything you could think of about France through the years and was at your fingertips. The owner's local assistant was extremely pleasant and most helpful with anything you needed to know about the apartment and Paris in general. The unit was spotless. I have already recommended this apartment to friends and hope that this does not backfire on me. I surely will be back as I already feel like this is our home in Paris!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As I will embark on my 7th visit to Alex's apartment, I decided that I must write a review on "my Parisian home". This is the best home away from home you could ever imagine. The ultra modern decor is very inviting. Prior to 2007, I used to stay in luxury hotels near the Champs Elysees or across from the Opera. Very expensive and it was just a tiny room with a tiny bathroom. Alex's apartment is more than an apartment, it's a townhouse with all of the amenities. Full kitchen with everything you need if you dare cook. Eating area is surrounded by beautiful artwork. Two supermarkets, two fresh friut and vegetable stores, and two bakeries are within a 4 minute walk. You are also five minutes from the metro or a nice walk to the Trocadero, which has the most fabulous views of the Eiffel Tower. (perfect photo opportunity) It's so nice to come back to the house after a day in all of the touristy areas to a nice relaxing home. I usually warm up a towel on the towel warmer in the bathroom, run a bath, and play one of the many jazz cds in the music library after a busy day of museums and shopping. Oh, and did I mention Mona.....what a dear. She is there to greet you with fresh bread and cheese. She's American so there is no language barrier if you do not speak french. She's an expat and knows everything about Paris. She can advise on the best mode of transportation or the best flea markets. This is a location that I can definitely recommend, but please don't try to book my weeks in the Spring.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

My husband & I traveled to Paris for the first time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. And we chose the most perfect version of our Parisian Home Away...C'est magnifique! The owner was immediately responsive to inquiries &continued so through booking & payment & more importantly after! As we planned our trip, he sent us an orientation packet, scrupulously put together, including directions to the house via train, bus or taxi (with written directions in French & English for the cabby, even down to the GPS coordinates). We've rented many vacation homes through the years & every question we may have encountered through those years was addressed in this meticulous package. It also included restaurant recommendations, metro pass instructions, walking trips through the neighborhood, etc. Perfect! On arrival, we were welcomed by the wonderful caretaker to a gorgeous home filled with vases of roses, platters of cheese, fruit & pastries & a bottle of wine. She acquainted us with the apartment, pointing out how to adjust temps, use appliances, where to dispose of trash, etc. She accompanied us to the boulangerie down the block to select & buy for us some yummy breads. And left her phone numbers (also in packet) in case of question or emergency. The apartment itself: simply gorgeous. If anything, it is more lovely than it appears in the photos, equipped with: - An amazing library with everything from art and history books to novels and guide books for every monument/museum you can think of. Also racks with maps and handouts from every sort of venue. It was hard to leave in the mornings with all these comforts & great reads with coffee & pastries from our daily trips down the block. - A wonderful collection of jazz/other music. We loved listening to Stephane Grappelli (whose ashes are kept at Pere Lachaise Cemetary by the way)& Dianne Reeves. - The aforementioned appliances (so convenient to be able to do laundry mid-stay). - Kitchen & bath cupboards filled with all you might possibly need. - Proximity to boulangerie & patisseries, 2 groceries, wine merchant, butcher shop, restaurants, takeout food, pharmacy, chocolatier, a "tabac" to load up your Navigo (Metro) passes. - Bus/Metro so close - Relais du Bois & La Pinede Restaurants where we ate several times (steps away) The hospitality, kindness, exquisite taste & attention to detail make it impossible to recommend this owner highly enough. Merci with all our hearts.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

AMAZING!!! The townhouse was that and more! My husband and I visited Paris 10 years ago and it didn't compare to this trip. We were in Paris for 10 days and staying at the townhouse felt like we lived in Paris. The cafe down the street, the fresh flowers, cheese, and fresh bread...everything you imagine Paris to be it was! I know that a large part of it was due to the townhouse. It felt so good having somewhere to go to that felt like home. By the end of the trip, some of the residents were saying goodmorning, giving acknowledging smiles, it felt so good! The owner did a fantastic job with providing directions, information about Paris, and local restaurants. His housekeeper was so sweet and told us the ins and outs of Paris, the townhouse, and her availability to help if needed. I highly recommend this townhouse...you will not be disappointed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I spent 5-days in the apartment over Thanksgiving. This is the first time we have ever tried renting a place through HomeAway, and I have to say the experience was even better than I had hoped for. The Apartment was just as represented on the website. The information package we received before we arrived was extremely helpful in planning our trip, and helpful for getting around while we were there. I don’t think we would have taken the bus, which we really enjoyed, if it weren’t for the directions. Mona who met us there was extremely helpful, and helped us arrange taxi’s to the airport. She had snacks and staples for us when we arrived so we didn’t need to immediately rush of the store. The apartment is well situated on a quiet street with great local food shops close by. We had a great time shopping and cooking meals in the apartment and even used the cookbooks that were in the kitchen. The close proximity to bus stops, a metro and RER station makes getting anywhere in Paris a breeze. We took the bus to the Musée d'Orsay following the instructions given, and had a relaxing long walk back to the apartment. Next time we are in Paris we plan to stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This beautiful apartment provides the unique experience of living in an upscale neighbourhood, shopping, dining and safely browsing local shops and feeling as if you are really living in Paris. The owner has thought of every comfort and convenienc to make your stay a truly wonderful and we loved the wine, cheeses fruit at our arrival and the wrapped soap! The art deco themed furniture gives the apartment a very spacious feel but we also felt very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for a little snack or making dinner and there are lots of unique books on Paris and maps and more. We feel the owner more than delivers in every way and all financial details are handled in a very professional manner. This elegant and comfortable Art Deco maisonette duplex is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the 16th. Nearest metro is Rue de la Pompe (about a three minute walk away). As the space is fully decorated (lots of books, art, etc) this place really feels like a home, and not a soulless vacation rental. It's also quite spacious with several distinct areas for lounging, eating and (horrors!) even working. There are so many little extras/pleasant surprises that they're almost too numerous to mention, but I'll throw out a few. The half bath downstairs is nice if you entertain but don't want people walking into your private space. The free phone (free calls to US too) is good for keeping your cell phone bill tolerable. The welcome "goodie basket" includes cheeses, breads, fruit and a lovely bottle of wine. Those who get claustraphobic in small bathrooms will think they've died and gone to heaven when they get a load of the spacious, spa-like master bath that includes a separate walk in shower with brutally strong water pressure. Towels and bed linens were good quality and in perfect condition. Everything you could possibly want is within easy walking distance of the aparment. Excellent, non-touristy restaurants abound (including several right on the same street). There are also two excellent bakeries and a large supermarket within literally a one minute walk of the front door to the aparment. Also within a few minutes walk are a post office, parks (including the massive Bois de Boulougne), dry cleaners, pharmacies, ATM machines - you name it. No review of this aparment would be complete without glowing praise for both the American owner (who's based in Boston) and the delightful on-site representative/manager who couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. It is without hesitation that I would recommend this vacation rental to a relative, relative or YOU!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I just returned from a vacation that included a week in this incredible apartment in Paris. It is very easy to rave about the quality of the apartment (it is truly stunning inside and located on a wonderful gated road in the heart of the 16th), or the convenient location (a 10 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, 2 minutes to several markets or cafes, bakeries, etc and about 5 minutes from a metro stop and a light rail stop) but what makes this apartment the most special is the owner. From the moment of initial contact Alex was absolutely unbelievable in his level of communication and friendliness. Every detail is meticulously looked after - the level of thoughtfulness is unheard of in modern society. Alex sent a significant welcome packet prior to our stay that included not only the vital information but maps, guides, complete translations for taxi drivers, etc. It was truly a wonderful experience and I cannot recommend Alex and his apartment in Paris highly enough. I cannot imagine that you could find another more involved and conscientiousness owner than Alex or nicer place to stay in Paris.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If anything, the property exceeded our fondest hopes, and was even prettier than the photos. All the conveniences of a home away from home, a great location, quiet but near anything you want. Not for those unfamiliar with simple French, since it's a very "local" area, not an area in which English or other languages are spoken widely. The owner's housekeeper is most helpful, lots of great neighborhood shops and restaurants, close to both bus and Metro stops...al in all, a wonderful experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We visited Paris April 2011. Close friends had recommended the apartment and we were delighted that we chose to stay in the rental. The location is fantastic- just a few steps from the local grocery, only a very short walk to neighboring bakeries with delicious breakfast croissants and coffee, and close to metro station and buses. The apartment was beautifully decorated with an incredible library of books available for browsing (tour guide books, pleasure reading, etc), lovely furniture and very comfortable and modern bathroom and kitchen. Apartment within a safe and gated small community, and we often walked late at night and always felt safe. Lovely surprise on arrival when delightful caretaker greeted us with a basket of french bread, french cheese, fresh fruit and several bottles of wine! They were ready and waiting for us on arrival and checked with us within a few days to see if we needed assistance with taxi/transportation or had any questions. We stayed with our kids (ages 9-15), and everyone enjoyed the apartment. The greatest advantage over a hotel is that you truly experience Paris as a Parisian and not just as a visitor. The weather was fabulous and we highly recommend Paris in spring. Owner was incredibly attentive and professional from the moment we booked the apartment through the completion of rental period and overall the vacation was a success.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This property is an absolute delight, and an added plus is that it is just 1 km from the finish line of the Paris Marathon! What a pleasure to stay in a non-touristy neighborhood with a Patisserie, Fromagerie, Boulangerie, and grocery store less than a block away. The property is clean, well cared for, and the owner has thoughtfully provided most things that a visitor would need, including a well stocked kitchen, city guides and maps, other tourist guides and art books, wireless internet, and even a washer/dryer. Also a great coffee maker! I stayed here with my husband, daughter, and a friend, and there was plenty of room while allowing for privacy for all. We walked and took the metro to explore the city. I highly recommend this property!!! Oh and Paris in April was warm, green, in bloom, and very lovely.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We chose this apartment because we lived in Paris for three years in the late 1990s just around the corner and wanted to be in our old neighborhood. What we found when we arrived was the most wonderful apartment, beautifully decorated, with the most thoughtful attention to detail. There were flashlights on the tables on both sides of the bed; there were loads of guidebooks and maps and books on Paris on the bookshelves; there was pen and paper on the desk; the kitchen was extremely well equipped; the furniture was ample and comfortable; Alex`s instructions and information were extremely helpful. And to top it off the living room has the greatest collection of Art Deco pieces, art and books imaginable. A great plus was Mona, an American who takes care of the apartment for Alex and who greeted us on our arrival with cheeses, wine, flowers, baguette, etc. and was always available for help and advice. And the neighborhood! Within a short walk is a small supermarket, quality patisseries, several stores with excellent ready made food to bring home, several restaurants, stops for two good bus routes, the Metro, and Avenue Henri Martin, one of the most elegant streets in Paris which ends at the Trocadero across from the Eiffel Tower Nearby there are also several museums and the great huge park at the edge of the city, the Bois de Boulogne. We would make one recommendation to future travellers. Every Wednesday and Saturday mornings an extraordinary outdoor food market is held about half a mile from the apartment on Avenue President Wilson, between Place iena and Place Alma Marceau. Don`t miss it!. If you can get a reservation, take the opportunity to stay at Alex`s apartment. It will greatly enhance your Paris vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I have now stayed at this wonderful apartment three times and would never conside staying anywhere else! If you are not familiar with the 16th, you owe it to yourself to learn about this - it is the Paris that you see in the classic movies - the wonderful architecture, the elegant life style, the marvelous neighborhood cafe's .... I rent this apartment and feel that I am suddenly a Parisean! The owner has a wonderful sense of style - you could not ask for a more classic/art deco space. Everything is perfect and the service is wonderful - you walk into a sparkling space with welcoming floral arrangements - you are immediately at home. I would recommend this to my mother! You will not be disappointed. SuzanneRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: ...And I am ecstatic that you found the apartment "perfect," and will be telling your family and friends about it. I'm always thinking, if I were a guest, what would I want to find in an apartment. That, and the suggestions I have received over the years from people who have stayed with me have led to many of the amenities you mention. Of course, I can't take credit for the wonderful neighborhood, but I'm so glad you enjoyed all of the nearby shops and services. Thanks again for staying "chez moi." I hope you do make it back to Paris sometime soon.

Well!!! First, let us thank you for your lovely arrival gift of terrific cheeses, champagne and fresh baguette, accompanied by the Happy Birthday note. All very thoughtful of you. Second, it was such a pleasure to walk into an apartment that we immediately felt so comfortable in, surrounded by our taste in everything, even down to the Bill Evans cd's. Alex, you never had in your apartment photos a shot of that absolutely awesome tea cart. I would sit next to it every evening with a drink in my hand trying to figure out how to smuggle it into our luggage! The fresh flowers, the book collection, the very comfortable bed, the overall attention to detail, all were such an important part of making our trip so wonderful. Also, thank you for Mona. It gave us a feeling of confidence knowing if we got into trouble she was there for us...in English. And she was helpful. Lastly, what a wonderful neighborhood with friendly merchants in charming shops and the Metro one block to the north and a cab stand one block to the south. All in all, you couldn't ask for more. Alex, thank you again so much and we hope we will be able to take advantage of your apartment in the future. Our very best to you.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: If the Breuer tea trolley goes missing, I now know where to look first! I feel privileged to have been able to meet you in the States, and to have had you as guests on so many occasions. And, now that both your son and daughter have stayed at the apartment during their own trips to Paris, your clan holds the record for Most Separate Bookings by Individuals Within the Same Family! Thanks for your friendship and for being such wonderful guests.

No seriously. We loved this apartment so much we contemplated changing the locks so that we wouldn't have to give the apartment back to the owner. I go to Paris often on business and if I could, I would stay here every time. Why should you rent? For starters, a perfect, quiet location with all the amenities that picky New Yorkers insist upon; every market you need within a 5 minute walk: boulangerie? Check. Wine shop? Check. Vegetable/fruit stands? Check. Larger supermarket 50 feet from the door? Check. Metro station 2 blocks away? Check. Oh, and did I mention that although the apartment is in the equivalent of a Central Park West neighborhood (a very good thing), you are only a 10 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower? This is a pristine, exquisitly designed and meticulously kept home and I'm already regretting writing such a glowing review for fear that it won't be available the next time we need it. Merci!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent 2 months at Ave. Rodin a few years ago, then stayed for 1-2 week visits on two other occasions. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Paris. We enjoy the location: away from the main hub-bub, tourist crazy, or overly ritzy areas, but easily accessible to all via close-by Metro stop. Lovely walks to Palais de Chaillot, the Bois de Boulougne, the great shops on Rue de Passy, and Ave. Victor Hugo (to the Arc de Triomphe), and the Musee Marmottan (the Monet museum). The fabulous 'Paul' boulangerie 50 steps from the apartment (I counted), a supermarket, small butcher shop, wine store, and vegetable vendor within 2 blocks. Staying there, we feel like residents of Paris, not tourists. The apartment is beautiful, very comfortable, quite spacious, immaculate, and equipt with every amenity. The kitchen and bathroom are are of an American standard - unusual for a French apartment. Mona, the english-speaking caretaker/ housekeeper/ omnibuswoman is nearby and extremely helpful. The owner, Alex Packer, is pleasure to deal with in every way.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: You are very kind to say such lovely things. It brings me great pleasure to know that others enjoy the apartment, neighborhood and location as much as I do. You're so right about how it makes you feel like residents, not tourists. Yet, if you need help with anything, Mona is there to assist. So many of my guests have told me they find her onsite presence and bilingual mastery an extra measure of security. I think I will call Mona now and tell her how much we all appreciate her.

Thank you for the prompt return of my security deposit. Nancy and I had a wonderful stay in your delightful Paris apartment. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for sharing such a jewel with us. We had high expectations based on your description of the apartment, and we were not disappointed. In fact, we find ourselves answering questions about our Paris trip with first an extended description of your apartment and its many comforts. I believe many of our friends are left with the impression that we never ventured from the apartment! But we did, and we thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of the location when we explored the many sights of Paris, and relaxing in your apartment when we returned after a long day of sightseeing. I particularly enjoyed your extensive jazz collection; Nancy loved your library of Paris guide books. Mona met us on arrival and proved to be as nice and as helpful as advertised. Please thank her again for the both of us. Not only did she provide us with a complete tour of the apartment and operating instructions for the appliances, she also gave us a short tour of the neighborhood and the closely located cafes. I am especially glad that we later saw her in the grocery store since she prevented me from buying baby formula instead of milk for my coffee. Once again, thank you for sharing your Paris apartment with us. We hope we can visit again soon. Robert and NancyRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I, too, hope you will be back in Paris sometime soon. Many guests have told me that it has been hard to pry themselves away from the apartment once they get engrossed in some of the hundreds of books and Paris guides. I guess that's a nice type of problem to have. Thanks again for staying at my apartment. By the way, despite decades of familiarity with France, to this day I still check with Mona as to which of the dozens of milk and cream products in the supermarket are meant for coffee.

We had an absolutely fabulous first experience several years ago in Paris – where to begin? Staying in Alex's apartment made our trip. It was so leisurely to begin each day with a lot of space and at least one pot of coffee, along with breakfast. We really appreciated the special touches, including the lovely flowers and the cheeses/baguettes/wine (which quickly became the staples of our existence for that week!). Staying in an apartment (and such a beautiful one) was a vastly superior experience to staying in any hotel. I value quiet during the sleeping hours, and would highly recommend this property to anyone who is likewise sensitive (no earplugs required). Alex is very knowledgable about Paris and is happy to share his suggestions and helpful tips for transportation/food/leisure - it's almost like having your own personal guide. Also, Mona was a gem. She was so kind and thoughtful, and left us helpful suggestions regarding special events to see. We called her for advice during our stay, and she even came over to place the call for our cab back to the airport. We really felt like we had a friend in Paris whom we could call if we got in a pinch. In sum, this apartment experience has changed the way I travel. Since my original visit to Alex's apartment in Paris, I have used VRBO extensively (although superior to hotels in general, no other accommodation has come close to Alex's in terms of the sheer joie de vivre and obvious sophistication of its owner), and I am anticipating with excitement my imminent return to this lovely apartment this summer with my daughters - I can't imagine having any other base in Paris - really!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind remarks! Traveling as much as I do, I can really appreciate your comments about the advantages of apartment rentals. When it comes to foreign travel, though, many people choose to stay in hotels for the concierge services. With Mona, my housekeeper/property manager, available 24/7 to offer suggestions and respond to requests, guests need never worry about having, as you so nicely put it, a "friend" to help them navigate a foreign culture and language. I am delighted that you will be returning "chez moi" for another visit. My apartment can barely contain its excitement

I had seen the pictures and heard what others had to say about staying there, and yet nothing prepared me for just how wonderful a place your apartment is… Paris is fabulous and Paris is lovely and there's nothing like it in the world, but having the chance to really live IN it changes everything. I miss the surrounding neighborhood every day; how I wish I could stop by Paul for coffee before work! I honestly don't think that this trip would have been as magnificent even at the Ritz. As I said to a friend, when you walk into a hotel, the magic disappears; you could be anywhere once you pass the lobby. At your apartment, being at home is still part of the experience. (And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Mona. She is a character unlike any other. Sweet, charming, incredibly helpful, she is certainly a selling point.) I just can't imagine staying anyplace else. I am officially spoiled.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mona is definitely a character. She will go to the ends of the earth to make guests comfortable, answer their questions, help them with tickets or reservations -- and even baby-sit. She has been my housekeeper/property manager for 10 years. People used to hotels, where you call the front desk for everything, may feel anxious about staying in a private apartment in a foreign country. What do they do if they have a problem, request or need? While my guests enjoy total privacy in the apartment, I know that having Mona nearby and accessible via email, cell phone and land line gives them an added sense of security and support.

The apartment was absolutely wonderful! It completely lived up to its billing, in comfort, location, beauty and practicality. You did a wonderful job decorating it (I'd love to know the origin of the space). Everything we could want or need was provided, with the sole exception of a salad spinner! So when we had friends over for dinner one evening, we just spread out the paper towels and dried the salad that way. But fear not for the environment: I used the damp towels for wipe-ups until they could absorb no more. Your collection of books is remarkable and the posters and photos on the walls are beautiful. Did you take the black and white photos in the dining area and the bedroom? Mona was extremely efficient and helpful and I'm glad she was happy with the way we left the apartment. I think the wonderful care you put into it deserves good care from your tenants as well. I would have no hesitation in renting your apartment again. In the meantime, I have been raving about it to friends, so if anyone else is interested, I'll let you know. It is without any doubt the best way to stay in Paris, far better than a hotel. Congratulations on a beautiful place and your wonderful management of it as well. And I love how you've organized all the guide books by subject. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was indeed a great experience to be able to stay in your apartment for such an extended period of time. The apartment is without question the best one we have ever stayed in Paris. The location is excellent and we used the combination of 63 and 52 bus lines and the metro to cover everywhere. We walked all over the 16th district and our after dinner stroll along the Seine and Eiffel Tower became our favorite almost instantaneously. We thank you for allowing us to stay at your apartment. Mona is a remarkable lady and took good care of us too. Our sons enjoyed their visit immensely and we had a great reunion in Paris. We could not ask for a better way to spend the vacation together. We hope that this is the beginning of a long relationship. Our memory of Paris will not disappear. We love Paris! Thank you again, Alex. Let us stay in touch! Give our best to Mona!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We couldn't be more pleased with our trip to Paris and our two weeks at your apartment. We usually stay at the Ritz and have never rented an apartment in Paris, so I must say we were a bit wary of trying something new. But now, we really do consider your apartment our home there. Your apartment is beautiful, spacious, clean and quiet. Our every need was met. Thank you so much for the welcome gift of wine, cheese and bread. Mona is a delight; and it was a great comfort to know that an English-speaking person was always available just in case. We took advantage of your large, well-organized library of Paris travel guides, literature and music. We loved the neighborhood and found it so convenient that everything we needed was within a few blocks reach. We highly recommend the owner, Alex, and his apartment. If you want to feel like you're really living in the City of Light instead of just visiting, this is the perfect place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: My apartment is blushing from comparing favorably with the Ritz. Since your visit, the collection of Paris literature has grown considerably along with the rest of my library. When I come to Paris, my suitcases are filled with books -- not clothes. I just got a gigantic book called "The History of Paris in Painting." It may just be the most beautiful book I've ever seen. Other changes since your stay include a new flat-screen TV, and new curtains in the living room which, considering they are nearly 20 feet in length, was a major project! Thanks again for your kind words. I do hope my apartment will one day welcome you back to Paris.

We flew in from London last night and we are already missing Paris! London was wonderful, despite the heavy pound, but it does not stimulate one's inner magic like Paris does. Katelin took to Paris like a natural. (The fact that she met two very nice guys from Boulder, Colorado at Trocadero didn't hurt matters any.) With your fabulous suggestions and directions, Katelin navigated the city perfectly. We visited all the usual tourist sights but our favorite spot was this beautiful flat and the surrounding area. Your apartment is everything and more than you suggested. The kitchen was so well equipped and begged for my attention. As a result, we ate dinner out on only one occasion. Claudine took me to a market that she frequents but I couldn't begin to tell you which one it was. What a fabulous display of culinary treats! I raved about you and your place before I saw it and now I am your new biggest fan. I can't begin to tell you how valuable the visitor’s packet was. I wasted a lot of time reading travel books. We referred to your suggestions and instructions for our every move. You truly made our trip the fabulous vacation that it was! Glad to hear you will be making it to Paris on the 17th. If I were you I would be staying all summer. We are already planning our return visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I'm so glad that the apartment contributed to the enjoyment of your visit and that Katelin had a great time. In my experience, teenagers love the city. It's safe for them to explore, and a rewarding, confidence-building challenge to figure out how to get around using buses and Metro. You have me curious which market Claudine took you to. The apartment is near two great markets (in addition to all of the neighborhood food shops and supermarkets). The covered Passy Market, an airy, light-filled iron building, is open six days a week and has the most mouth-watering permanent stalls of fish, meat, cheese, wine, produce, bread and pastries, all displayed with classic French artistry. Then there's the market on Avenue President Wilson. It's open on Wednesdays and Saturdays and extends for several blocks with seemingly endless rows of food and household products. I wonder if it was one of these you visited.

We've stayed in many different places in Paris over the years, but we'll now never stay anywhere but this apartment. We found it perfect....both the apartment and the location. Our most favourable comment is that we recommended it to friends, who stayed there and also found it wonderful. Our first comments were written in 2005, after a week of our month long stay: Our first week is drawing to a close, and we wanted to share our delight in our stay in your Paris home. We were greeted by Mona as promised, and by lovely roses in vases on both floors. We're still enjoying the cheeses, which are in good company with others we've since selected. The bottle of wine was a nice treat with the cheese, the baguette and the fresh fruit for our first meal. It was wonderful not to have to shop for staples, not even coffee or bottled water. Thank you so much. The neighbourhood is also a delight. Robin walked the Lac Inferieur yesterday, though the pathways are a bit soft from the melted snow. At least it melted! We've sampled a few of the local restaurants, highlighted by Tang a few feet from the apartment. Tonight, we prepared a four course meal for our friends and completed our first round of appliance education. It's always a bit tricky using someone else's stove, but the roast was cooked perfectly. Thank you also for the very comprehensive package of notes, reviews and instructions. They've proven very helpful, and eased our transition to the neighbourhood. The shopping on Rue de la Pompe is wonderful. I can't think of a problem to complain about...you have a wonderful home and provide wonderful hospitality. Thank you.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words -- and for recommending my apartment to your friends. It's wonderful that you were able to spend an entire month in Paris. You can really settle in and live like a Parisian. I hope you will once again be able to enjoy an extended period of time in this great city.
