Location: Prague, Czech Republic, Europe
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 3-4)
We moved to this penthouse apartment in January 2000 (after it was built in 1999) and lived there till the beginning of 2009. So much has happened there in those nine years… We have raised our daughter Valerie there, received many of our friends from all over, and spent wonderful moments with people who are no longer with us. Of course, it was mainly our day-to-day life we lived there.
Last year we decided to move because of Valerie’s school and wanted to sell the apartment. But to our surprise, most of our friends urged us not to do it: “It has great vibrations. It is romantic. It just feels good to be there, and besides the location!” they said. Also, we realized we love to meet and host people. To make them feel at home. Thus, we decided to keep it and offer it to travelers through VRBO.
In the place we left many things that made our home a home – like a huge selection of CD´s (Jazz, World or Classic), a big part of our library containing books in English, some of our wall posters, and our plants.
We enjoyed so many things there like having breakfast in our balcony, looking out the windows (there are some beautiful views!!), cooking in our kitchen, or reading on the sofa… Of course that depends on what you like…
The apartment itself has a spacious living room with wifi, TV, CD player, two sofas,.. The kitchen (which is a part of the same room) is fully equipped. Also, there is a tiny place for dining. The bedroom has a large bed (200 x 160 cm) and a wardrobe. You enter the balcony through here. The other bedroom served as Valerie´s room after she was born.
As to the location – Vysehrad, Central park of Prague, right at the door of our house, is actually a castle – a fortress on a cliff overlooking the Vltava River. It belongs among the oldest parts of the city (it was already built in the tenth century!). Its cemetery has become home to some of the biggest names in Czech history like Antonin Dvorak or Bedrich Smetana. It is a popular place where many travelers as well locals hang out. There are numerous pubs, cafes, groceries as well as a subway station - all within five minutes’ walk. Getting to the very center (like Václavské namesti) is a matter of 10-15 minutes.
Please do not hesitate to write for more photos or information. We will be happy to provide you with anything we have. And as we said, when you are here we’ll do what we can to make your stay enjoyable and memorable.
