Location: St. Saturnin-Les-Apt, Luberon Area, Provence, France, Europe (Eight Minutes Drive from the Renown Market Town of Apt.)

Accommodations:  Village House, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths (Sleeps 8)

'L'Heritage' is quite unique. There are certainly many superb properties throughout Provence, but 'L'Heritage' has a charm and character unlike most others. With foundations dating back to the late 1480's and no doubt with many, many changes over the years, what was once two houses is now, after much thought, planning, care and attention, a wonderful holiday home.

Situated in the heart of St. Saturnin-les-Apt, in a quiet dead-end street, you need only stroll down the road to purchase your croissants and warm, fresh baguettes, collect your newspaper (English language if you feel inclined!), then wander back, relax on one of the three spacious courtyard/terraces, sip a hot coffee, iced tea or whatever the season and taste buds dictate.....and relax.

When you arrive at 'L'Heritage' there is always a car parking space out the front as there are huge double wooden doors which appear to be a garage, but in fact are simply access doors. In fact there is oodles of parking in and at the end of the street under shade trees.
The pedestrian gate opens onto the front courtyard where there is a shaded area with dining table and chairs, charcoal bbq and an abundance of climbing vines, persistent rose bushes and aromatic herbs.

Ground Floor: (Kitchen, dining, lounge, 2 courtyards.)

To enter the house...you've several options. If loaded with the the fresh goodies you bought at the local farmers' market, or bending under the weight of (how many cartons did you buy?!?) the red, white and roses you thought you'd like to indulge in...then you can enter directly into the kitchen. The second option is through the main front door and directly into a large dining area with wood burning fireplace, stunning vaulted ceilings and views through to the back courtyard.

This ground floor houses the large eat-in kitchen which is fully equipped and has, again, the most fabulous vaulted ceilings.

The dining room has a long, antique wooden table and chairs set beside a delightful and wonderfully warming wood-burning fireplace, as mentioned above...repetition I know, but it's a great spot!

Next to the dining room there is a lounge area with banquet seating covered in a mass of lush cushions you can arrange to suit. Wicker sofa and armchairs, side tables and again....extraordinary vaulted ceilings.

From the ground floor you can access the back courtyard which has strikingly tall walls with creeping vines and offering total privacy. Housing a huge teak outdoor dining table, matching chairs and side tables, another charcoal bbq, a gurgling water feature and flourishing pot plants....it's the ideal location for everyone to meet and greet and sip the traditional French "apero"...pre-dinner, pre-lunch or any excuse....drink! From ths courtyard you can access the large balcony off the first floor sitting room.

First Floor: (Two bedrooms, one bathroom, lounge/television room, large balcony). Additional w.c. on mid/mezzanine level.

This first floor can be accessed via two staircases...didn't I say it was a unique house! One staircase leads up from the kitchen; another leads up from the lounge area. When climbing the stairs from the kitchen you pass a mid-level powder room housing a w.c. and hand basin. Continue up and you will come to the first floor.

On this level there are two bedrooms. One bedroom "The blue/grey room" with queen sized (160cm) bed and one bedroom "The yellow room", with two twin (90cm) beds, and each with reverse cycle air-conditioning. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with bath, shower over, hand basin, w.c. and plenty of space for toiletries.

As you walk along the corridor you'll pass shelves with English language books, magazines, guide books and brochures...and the cupboard with ironing board and iron and the vacuum cleaner should you feel inclined!

Adding to the spaciousness and 'peace for all' that this house offers, you will then find a second sitting/lounge room. This room houses the television, a desk writing desk, a sink (zinc), small fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and several comfortable armchairs, foot stools and reading lights. From this sitting room you can access the first floor balcony where there are sun loungers, table and chairs, and again, wonderful privacy.

Second Floor: (master bedroom with ensuite shower room; 4th bedroom with shower room). Laundry on mid/mezzanine level.

From the above mentioned sitting/tv room, you access another bedroom "The red room", housing a queen sized (160cm) bed, side tables and reading lights, plenty of hanging space, ...and it's own private shower room. With shower, w.c. and hand basin, plenty of cupboard space for toiletries, comfort for all.

If you remember we climbed the stairs from the kitchen, passed the additional w.c., arrived at the first floor....keep going past that first floor and you'll pass a mid-level laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Continue on and you will find the master bedroom. This bedroom houses a king (180cm) sized bed, reverse cycle air-conditioning, antique armoire and side tables, good reading lights, armchair, occasional tables and ... an ensuite HUGE shower room. The shower is enormous, the two hand basins make it very comfortable, a w.c. and heated towel rails complete the comfort.

If all of this sounds bewildering....painting a picture with words can sometimes be difficult .... click on the photographs and very quickly you'll see the reality.

The house is fully equipped, has electric heating (as well as the wood burning fireplace) for the cooler months, is well located in the village for peace and quiet and within strolling distance to all the restaurants, shops, cafes and bars that St. Saturnin-les-Apt offers.
