Cabe's Cottage is located in Clark's Chapel of Franklin, North Carolina and has your own private swimming pool! Built in the flavor of a British cottage, it makes a wonderful get-away and offers glorious mountain vistas, quiet privacy, convenient access and is minutes from Franklin. With fishing, biking, hiking, rafting, horseback riding or waterfall exploring nearby, Cabe's Cottage is your mountain destination of Western North Carolina. Proximity to Maggie Valley, Asheville, Cherokee, and Dollywood is within a day's drive.
Our 3200 sq.' cottage is completely furnished for your comfort and pleasure with four separate levels and multiple activity areas for the family or several families. Completely air conditioned for those warm summer days, and it has a gas log fireplace upstairs to take the chill off the crisp fall air. Downstairs there is also a gas fireplace. Sleeping up to 8 including children, the master loft has a king bed and is warm and cozy with knotty pine and hardwood flooring. A suite, the private master area has double sinks in the bathroom and a jetted spa tub for two. A separate shower is in the suite also. Two other bedrooms have queen beds for your comfort with a shared hall bath. The living room is furnished with a queen sofa bed. Downstairs, there are 2 double futons for up to 2 older children who won't mind being away from parents. A small half bath is there in what many call the "Man Cave."
Congregate downstairs in the game room for a game of pool, cards, or board games after a vigorous day of hiking or rafting, or stay close to the cottage and hang around the swimming pool with its expansive deck reading a good book to relax. FYI - the pool is not heated but comfortable in summer months. It is open from 6/1-9/30 each year depending on the cool temperatures. Please note we recommend children over 6 years who can swim, and any adults with physical issues may have a difficult time with the many stairs in the cottage. Adult supervision is required at all times!

- No Pets Allowed : Sorry, pet owners, we tried but have had considerable problems.
- Kid Friendly : Small children may have trouble navigating the stairs and steps at the cottage. We recommend children over 6 years old who can swim. We require adult supervision at all times around the pool, stairs and all decks.
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters : The cottage has many stairs, high decks and a swimming pool, so this unit is not recommended for children under 6 years old. Any adults who have physical issues or trouble navigating stairs should rent another unit. Adult supervision is required at all times in this cottage. The use of gas fireplaces require adults only to operate!

- Gem mining is a big activity in Franklin and many have taken home some nice rubies and sapphires! There is always Pickin' On The Square on Saturday nights, and the Fun Factory has miniature golf, bowling, video games, and a restaurant....fun for the whole family. Motorcycle riders will find myriad winding roads to test their skill, and we aren't far from Deal's Gap (2 hours), where the Dragon is a famous spot for bike riders. This is easily done in a one day trip from Franklin!

Hi! We are Scot and Sonja Thompson and currently live in Franklin,North Carolina. Scot worked for years in the defense industry, and I worked in a middle school as a 6th grade secretary. I later worked part-time for Seniors Helping Seniors. We came to Franklin 15 years ago on a vacation with our son and fell in love with the area and all the outdoor activities.Our dream was to move to Franklin and continue working in later years as small business owners, and we finally made it!!
Scot is a car buff and has restored a 1964 Pontiac Lemans that we both love to take to car shows. He also is a motorcycle rider, and I tag along too.....the Blue Ridge Parkway is just amazing on a bike!! Scot also plays the guitar and is a voracious reader. I love to garden, read and walk my rescue dog, Lucy in the mountains. I also quilt for the family, and we both are busy remodeling our new retirement home in Franklin.
We have decided to keep Cabe's Cottage open for seasonal visitors to enjoy. We hope you will love the mountains as much as we do!!!

Our family has been visiting Franklin for 15 years. Many years ago we were told of a beautiful area with many lakes and outdoor activities for the family. Our son, Chad, was 10, and we immediately planned our vacation. We came back for several years loving every minute and decided we would like to have a summer home in the mountains. Being close to Cherokee, the Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, and rivers and lakes, Franklin was our pick; and we have not been sorry a single day!!
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Our cottage is only 10 minutes from town, yet it is quiet and private. It was built by a Brit, so it has a special character all its own. It is large enough for several families and has a downstairs game room, making it fun to relax in after a busy day hiking, tubing, or horseback riding. In summer, the pool is refreshing and a great place to visit with friends and family. Our cottage is completely equipped for visitors to feel like it's their own.
