Relaxing will come easy on the Yellowstone Riverside deck. There you can hear the mighty river sweeping by, notice the sudden flip of a trout's tail, watch a bald eagle perched in the Cottonwood trees across the river, and see drift boats, kayaks, canoes, and rafts float by.
You will find a Hot Tub, comfortable patio set and gas barbecue grill along with a bench and hooks to hang your fishing waders. On the other side of the house, you will find a covered deck with a small table and chairs to enjoy your morning coffee while enjoying an unobstructed view of the gorgeous Absaroka Mountains.

Large windows offer spectacular views of the Yellowstone River, waterfowl, bald eagles, and the surrounding mountains.
Plan a trip into Yellowstone National Park, just a short drive South through Montana's Paradise Valley. With a little luck, you can hope to see deer, elk, bison, moose, and bears and other wildlife. Allow time to take a trip through the park to see Old faithful as well as the other amazing Geyser activity. Tour the hotspots of Yellowstone; which include: the Boiling River, the Grand Canyon, Old Faithful, the Petrified Tree, Norris Geyser Basin and Mammoth Hot Springs.
Chico Hot Springs, one of Montana's famous resorts, is just 10 minutes from the house; where you can enjoy anything from hamburgers at the grill to five star dinning -make sure to save time to enjoy a soak in the world famous healing hot springs of Chico. If you're up for some dancing plan to visit the Chico Saloon for live music on the weekends.
No smoking is allowed in the home. No pets are allowed on the property or in the home without prior written approval.
When winter sets in and snow falls on the nearby mountains, the Yellowstone River is fabulous to watch as ice chunks float by. Downhill skiers can head for the slopes at Bridger Bowl or Big Sky, while cross country skiers and snowmobilers can find fabulous trails in the mountains nearby or in Yellowstone Park. After a long day of winter play, the cozy gas fired woodstove at Yellowstone Lookout will be a welcome sight.
The magnificent North entrance to Yellowstone Park is a short drive to the South through Montana’s fabulous Paradise Valley. You’ll find that most of the Yellowstone Park roads are closed to normal vehicle traffic during the winter, from mid-December through mid-March. As such, it makes a winter visit an outstanding time to take a snow coach ride, cross country ski or snowmobile through the Park.
The only car-accessible Yellowstone Park entrance that remains open year-round is located at Mammoth (the North Entrance). That plowed road makes for a fun drive in the winter—you can explore the Tower Falls area, the Lamar Valley and Cooke City. You may even want to stop and ski on some of the many groomed cross-country ski trails which are located along this road. If you want to view wolves, check out the Lamar Valley in the winter. It is fairly common to view wolf packs from road turnouts using scopes or binoculars. In Mammoth you can rent snowmobiles, cross-country skis and snowshoes and take snow coaches that transport you to Old Faithful or take you on tours to other destinations.
In addition to soaking in the hot pools at Chico Hot Springs, another favorite winter activity is to experience the outdoor natural hot spring pools at Boiling River. You’ll find the Boiling River parking area about 3 miles inside the park from Gardiner. After parking, you’ll walk about a half mile along a path bordering the Gardiner River.
Eventually, you’ll see a place where a creek of hot geothermal water flows into the river (you’ll see lots of steam). Here you’ll see rocks piled up in the river to create natural pools where the hot water mingles with the cold river water to create comfortable places to soak and relax. It may be a little chilly when you get out, but it’s FUN and likely to be an experience that you’ll never forget.

This cabin was perfect. We used it as a base to travel to Yellowstone and the surrounding areas. It's very close to Yellowstone and you typically get to see quite a bit of wildlife on the way. The cabin was so well equipped all we needed was groceries for our stay. Couldn't have asked for anything more as we had everything we needed. We enjoyed every minute we spent here and it was very hard to leave to return home. Every morning we got to watch a bald eagle fly from it's nest across the river. That was a real treat! I would most definitely rent this cabin again in the future....no hesitation. I will also recommend it to any friends or family that are considering traveling to this area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Great cabin, beautiful views, mountains in front and back, lots of wildlife, watching canoes, rafts , fishermen going down the river right off your deck, hot tubbing at night under the stars, can't get any better than that, lots of room in the cabin, all you need, very comfortable. Thank you for our stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We think the location on the Yellowstone River with mountain views all around is pretty great, too. Isn't the star gazing from the hot tub great? So glad you enjoyed your visit! I hope you'll come again soon. Ronda

Loved the location - very quiet and pleasant. The river is right there. Paradise Valley is just that, Paradise! Tons of activities for kids - we went in the summer and it was just a blast. The house was comfortable with open spaces, lots of room and nice big windows to take advantage of the view. The boys could ride their bikes down the street and it was very safe place to hang out. Planning our next trip to Montana now!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The Yellowstone Lookout Cabin weekend getaway was absolutely wonderful. The Cabin is beautiful and very well stocked, with anything you could need. We had a great time fishing and caught several fish. We saw bald eagles flying up and down the river and saw 2 deer right off the front porch. We loved relaxing in the hot tub under the bright Montana stars. Drinking our morning coffee and watching the sunrise from the Cabin was breathtaking. We will be back again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent one week at this property (February 12 - 20, 2011). This house was even better than expected. The setting was beautiful. It overlooked the mountains on both sides and stood very close to the Yellowstone River. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. The home was very clean and comfortably furnished. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for all of our "stuff" to store wiihtout tripping over it all the time. The kitchen had everything needed even down to salt, pepper, paper towels, etc. We also loved the hottub. It was very relaxing after a day of exploring. Our adventure incuded dogsledding with Absaroka which was a blast. We would highly recommend this to anyone. We split our visit with a 2 night trip to the Snow Lodge at Old Faithful. This is also very highly recommended. The house is only about 45 minutes from the North/Gardiner entrance of Yellowstone. We saw lots of wildlife on the way (which is one of the reasons it takes about 45 minutes to get there due to being cautious when driving to look out for deer and elk crossing the road). The town of Livingston had a nice Albertson's for any grocery needs. We ate at the Rib and Chop House in Livingston. FANTASTIC food!!!! Don't miss it. I had some of the best seafood I've ever had in Livingston, MT...go figure! You won't be disappointed with this home or it's location!!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

First of all, thank you for the opportunity to stay in your gorgeous home. The drive into Livingston is so magestic and the views around this area are breathtaking! Walking into your home, I was like a kid in a candy shop...just taking it all in. All is kept saying was WOW! The views, the river in your backyard, the hot tub, and all the comforts of home. This was a late honeymoon for us and we could not have asked for a better place--private, relaxing and gorgeous! We hope to return one of these days!Did you find this review helpful?
